Yep, it took us this long but here's another chapter. Just something to know, we won't upload constantly longer chapters because of time constraints on our side.

Chapter-10
Flying through the sky, a raven larger than the average one was in a hurry. Flapping its wings, scouring the land below to find its master. Other birds avoided its path, scared of the intense presence it was giving it out.
The day was turning into night, which made it a little tense, knowing full well how its vision wouldn't help when it turns dark. The bird did its best to find its master.
Its master was a very capable and amazing being it came to encounter some years ago, and though she was young it knew she was never to be underestimated. It knew and that's how it came to be under the little girl's command.
Being different was not always a good thing and the raven knows how that felt with its experience but those things don't matter to it now. It was under her command and given the name 'Hraban', a name it accepted.
An unusual bird meets an unusual human, this was its story. Nothing more was need to be said as it flew under her command.
At that moment, Hraban was trying to find its master. Suddenly vanishing before its eyes was concerning; it was following the path of connection it had with its master. A small and unnoticeable link its master made between them.
*!*
Its vision and senses heightened, it could see its master and friend surrounded.
"!" Hraben caw with a rising pitch and its dark wings suddenly glow a blue hue. Its master taught it the ability to use mana, the driving force of magic, and fortunately it had the surprising talent to learn it, though by a small amount. And unlike its species, the raven dives down with incredible speed and force toward its master's aid.
'This was not supposed to happen.'
Two girls were currently being chased by a couple of creatures both have never seen before. They did not have any definite face, they were chuckling, growling, and making all sorts of noise. They were nightmares that would only appear in their dream.
'We're supposed to be home by now.'
One of the girls was starting to heavily breathe with tears falling from her eyes again. She was scared but didn't stop running if she stops, she knew she'll be a burden to the other girl.
'I want to see them, even if they never want to talk to me again, even if they scold me for all the horrible things I said and done. I want to see them again… I want to see Lily too!'
"Tuney!"
The girl still running as fast as her legs could take did not see the incoming lunge from behind and thus her friend pushed both of them to the side narrowingly avoiding what could have been her death or something extremely painful she could've needed to endure.
"These monsters…" The other girl who was still calm saw how the creatures chasing them were now cracking noises and grunts while circling them. They were playing with them and this annoyed her.
They have multiple distorted faces; some look familiar while others express unknown creatures and they seem to all frighten Petunia extremely as she was hiding her face away from them.
She couldn't beat them with any physical hits and none of the visual genjutsu she tried worked. Her only known spell was a fire element she learned watching her mother use to light a fireplace. Unfortunately, using it in a dense forest would be stupid and not to mention she still had a hard time controlling the output that was out of the ordinary. Her low reserve of mana was a bother, unlike others, she had a small reserve of mana, and with her other source of power, chakra having a larger amount made it unbalanced, putting strain on her body.
"Mikoto… I-I can't move my legs… I'm sorry, all of this is my fault."
Petunia who was down on her knees shakingly tremble with much fear in her tone and this made the creatures around even more wild with joy.
Mikoto's hand clenched tighten annoyed at their helpless situation.
"Go."
"Huh?"
"M-Mikoto, go. I-I know you're faster than them. I know you can outrun them, you're just that a-amazing. So just leave me behind."
"…" The young dark-haired girl did not respond as she did not want to pursue such a path. The idea of abandoning others just because it was easier and had better circumstances.
Her silence was her answer.
"Mikoto, just go!"
"!" The monsters surrounding them jump in delight the moment Petunia shouts for the younger girl to leave her.
"HRABAN!"
"!"
Upon the call of her raven, something blue and fast came from above and crash down between the creatures and the girls with a powerful sonic boom.
"…"
"….."
The powerful sound from the raven made the creatures screech in pain and their whole being warped unstably before leaving the scene as quickly as possible.
"My ears…" Petunia was knocked down while groaning holding both palms on her ears. Though she was fine.
"…" Mikoto on the hand ignored the painful ringing in her ears as she carefully held onto her raven that came to save them. It was fine but one of its wings was a little bent and she was trying to think of a way to fix their situation despite her condition because she knew there were more and they were coming, attracted by the noise they made.
"…"
As she had guessed, another creature already came, alerted by the noise. It stood high on its hind legs. Though it was no larger than an adult man, the creature was everything a man should fear. Resembling a barely-haired dog with sharp claws and teeth, an intense gaze with a complete instinct to tear apart anything in its way.
*!*
Reacting by pure instinct, Mikoto lightly jumps backward and managed to save her face from being slashed apart by the creature's fast swipe.
"…" Her heart skips a beat, she was in a terrible physical condition, making it hard for her to use chakra, and not to mention her familiar was down.
*!*
Mikoto could only dodge the swipes the creature made and from looking at the creature. It felt to her that it was playing aggressively with her but the horrendous growl and saliva leaking off its mouth made it more menacing.
Right at that moment, she made a mistake and tripped while evading due to her exhaustion.
"…" She could only stare wide eyes at the approaching claws of the creature.
"NO!" Petunia came just in time with a broken tree branch she found and used it to smash the unguarded creature away from the younger dark-haired girl with a terrified expression.
"*huff* *huff*" The older girl now stood in front of the younger girl, with a scared expression but her action was different. She stood scared but ready to protect the younger girl behind her. It took everything in her to not fall on her knees in terror.
"Grrr…" The creature growls angrily and now sets its sight on the older girl.
"Tuney…"
"M-Mikoto, I'll try my best… so please." Petunia looks back at the younger girl. The girl that somehow always seems to be so capable and at times annoying but it seems to grow into her. She could only now give her a weak smile, "Run."
Mikoto eyes which were already widened in surprise now turned shocked at the older girl giving her a weak smile while the beast was already in front of the older girl.
*!*
It happened in a second, Petunia who was trying her best now was swiped off the ground from the dangerous creature's attack, in front of the dark-haired girl.
Time seems to slow down for Mikoto, it has been a while for her to feel such extreme emotion in her. She couldn't remember when or where because right now her emotion was boiling in anger.
"Stupefy!" Someone shouted and pushed off the creature that was about to attack again. A man in a cloak appeared though heavily breathing as if came in a hurry from somewhere.
The spell from the man was strong and it made the creature flinched in pain as it rushed off somewhere away from them.
The man saw the situation and hurry pulls out a bottle glass filled with something. Wasting no time, the man quickly rushed to the unmoving figure of Petunia and made her drink it.
"Thank goodness…" The man spoke out in relief, the girl on his arm was still alive even after being attacked by the creature. The liquid he made her drink also helped in saving her.
"Mister."
"!?" The man felt a chill on hearing the voice and quickly turned to look at the other girl who was also a mess but something about her eyes frightened him. He was for a short second frozen in place by her menacing eyes. The crimson color and the tomoe slowly rotate in them where two more suddenly formed and rotate along.
"Is she, all right?" Her words carry heavy meaning and this made the man feel pressure.
"Yes, I gave her a potion to heal her. Her condition should be better now." The man was able to reply despite the pressure she was having on her.
"I see." The dark-haired girl then placed her raven beside them and turned to the direction where the creature ran off; the man wanted to ask but decided to find time to breathe calmly at the situation.
"I will kill that thing for hurting her."
"Wait!"
The man was alarmed at her sudden statement but she was too fast and before he could stop her, the girl already disappeared in the direction where the creature went.
The creature blindly moves, injured and not alarmed by anything nearby as it was just trying to move away from the man that stun it with a spell. It was annoyed at the two girls but it feared the pain from the man.
Somewhere inside its mind, someone was calling out to stop it but it was too small and weak.
*!*
It heard a sound nearby and it followed it. Its instinct alarmed it to approach carefully.
The creature for some reason sense something but it was too late. The creature tripped something and a large burst of broken wood branches flung at it.
The creature crosses its arm and managed to defend itself. It screamed in pain but it didn't have time to pause as it set another trap where a hole just enough for it to fall in opened behind it.
It managed to hold on to the edge of the open hole and save itself from falling where sharp rugged wood spikes were placed. It for some reason felt particularly weak.
"I do not know why I stopped holding back. *sigh*"
The same little dark-haired girl was there right in front of its claws hanging on. It tried to pull itself up and leap to kill her but it felt no strength.
"Oh… so, you felt it. No strength on you." Her voice carries dullness and her eyes showed anger.
*stomp!* The girl's foot stomps on the creatures hanging claw and making it growl in pain but still hanging.
"Death is the only thing left for you now."
"!" The creature was still young and though it knew its strength, it was still a living creature and it felt the incoming death. Fear, what it felt right now was fear.
"Did you think only you could instil fear?"
Their eyes met and it could see, she was not giving it any mercy. She raises her foot.
*Stomp!* It fell.
"…"
"….."
"…."
The creature's eyes opened and it found itself on its knees, devoid of any strength left. It was confused, it felt no injury or pain in any part of its body but it knew there was something wrong. It felt as if it had dreamt a painful death.
"It was an illusion."
"…"
"But I believe you died, right?"
In front of it, the little girl stood with the same expression and demeanor. The aura of an absolute and cruel being was coming off her and this made it very uncomfortable.
It wanted to once more run away but there was no strength. Her crimson eyes scared it so much and it felt there was no way out. It was its complete submission.
"I do not hate you but the pain you've done to her."
Mikoto raised a poorly carved but sharp wood spike and did not look away from the defeated creature.
"I cannot simply ignore them."
"Stop!"
As she plunged down the sharp spike at the defeated creature, the man from earlier flew in with his broom and blocked the sharp wood with his bare arms struggling under the girl's surprisingly unknown strength.
There was a short silence as the girl stared into the man's eyes.
"Why?" She asked as the man protected the creature.
Looking up at the girl's eyes, struggle the man gritted his teeth from the pain but spoke his reason.
"Because he is my son."
"…"
And done…
