They saw Sharptooth the moment they came within sight of Sanctuary. Sharptooth was back, terrorizing the town, looking for any type of meat he could find.
"Come on," said Littlefoot, "After being away for so long, I'm sure Sharptooth will be hungry for some meat from his own world."
Ducky's eyes went wide, "You mean we're the bait?"
"We've been bait before," Cera said as the dragonets flew in closer.
Ducky felt her heart sinking, "Oh no, no, no."
"Don't worry," said Sunny, "We'll be bait together!"
The dragonets swooped in near Sharptooth, as they did so, his nostrils flared as he caught on to the smell of dinosaurs on their backs. His eyes turned to them, catching onto his prey.
"Gotta get out of here real quickly!" Petrie shouted.
With that, the Dragonets began to retreat, back the way they came, Clay steering in to aid Starflight with the u-turn, flying away fast enough to stay out of range of Sharptooth, but close enough to keep him tempted by their scent.
When they reached the cliffs, the dragonets landed on a rock near the foot of the trail they had discovered earlier.
"We'll have to climb these cliffs slowly to keep Sharptooth after us," Glory observed.
As Sharptooth approached, she lifted off and landed on a rock just a little bit higher up the trail, the other dragonets going on further ahead. As Sharptooth was about to reach her, Glory lifted off heading for a rock higher up.
"Hey, up here!" said Clay up the trail slightly higher, Spike on his back. Sharptooth lumbered up the trail after him, and just as he was about to reach them, Clay took off too.
They each took turns leading Sharptooth up the narrow trail. When they finally reached the cave, Starflight who was at the top waiting turned and led them in, "Hurry, this way!"
They reached the spot in the floor where they assumed the hole to the other world was, they stood and waited. Turning around, they saw Sharptooth enter the cave.
"Oh please work," Ducky whispered to herself.
Sharptooth saw them, there was nowhere to run…
He came barreling toward them…
Everyone's breath caught in their throat…
Tsunami braced for the fight…
Sharptooth stepped on the loose ground…
And it crumpled.
Everyone cried out as they tumbled into the deep dark hole. Down down down.
Suddenly, there was a flash of light.
Colors all around them, blasting in every color, incoherent patterns.
And water, blasting them back into darkness, a heavy current, throwing them every which way, no idea of up or down. In less than an instant, the dinosaurs and the dragonets were completely separated.
And BLAST!
They were shooting out of the mountain on a giant waterfall.
The Dragonets of Destiny, recovering their wings quickly, scanned the falls for their falling comrades.
And one by one, they retrieved their falling friends (Clay doubled up with Petrie for Starflight) and alighted on a ledge midway down.
Looking down below, they watched Sharptooth continue his fall toward the lake far below.
Finally, "We made it back," Cera breathed looking out at the prehistoric landscape before her she had always known.
The Dragonets looked around in wonder.
"Wait," said Sunny, "If we're here, that means we can now see our new friend's world too."
All of them looked at one another in realization. The dinosaurs and the dragons had opened up the passageway between their two worlds. With this new knowledge of how to get from one to the other, they could visit eachother's world whenever they wanted. They looked at eachother imagining the memories that would follow as they would grow closer and closer as friends exploring not just one world together, but two.
