In Los Angeles, California, Hotch shot a bank robbing unsub for trying to shoot a child who refused to hit his mother at a backyard birthday party. In Dayton, Ohio, Elle successfully got a serial rapist arrested by being the bait for him. Because of Elle having a gun pointed in her face at home, she snapped at the lead detective after the rapist's last successful rape in the victim's home. So, after the BAU team returned to Quantico, Hotch ordered Elle to have a psychological evaluation. Elle didn't want to go, but Reid offered to go with her. With Reid's love and support, Elle was able to tell the Bureau therapist about her father getting killed in the line of duty when she was 8, her ex-stepfather, Frank molesting her when she was 13, Dr. Ted Bryar handcuffing her to a chair at gunpoint aboard a train in Texas a year ago, her recently getting arrested semi-nude in Jamaica and Randall Garner pointing a gun in her face in her own home.
Elle and Reid left the therapist's office to return to work in the bullpen.
"Now, that wasn't so bad, was it, Elle?" asked Reid.
"Not with you by my side, Dr. Reid," admitted Elle. "I'm not an unsub. And, I already know what's wrong with me. I...just don't like the idea that I needed to be profiled like an unsub."
"Don't think of yourself as an unsub, Elle," said Reid. "Think of yourself as a victim to an unsub's deceit and manipulation and that you need a little more help than just me."
"Well, not just you, Spencer," smiled Elle. "You're my rock. My lifeboat when I'm sinking in the dark sea that comes with this job. Thank you for coming with me today."
Elle kissed Reid's cheek.
"You're welcome, Elle," smiled Reid.
"I need to ask you a favor, my love," said Elle.
"Anything," said Reid.
"Can...you teach me how to ride a bike?" asked Elle.
"Sure, but why?" asked Reid.
"After that unsub, Sheppard escaped our pursuit by motorcycle in Los Angeles?" explained Elle. "I'm thinking about getting myself a motorcycle to even that playing field in the future. But first, I need to learn how to ride a bike."
"You taught me how to dance, Elle," smiled Reid. "I'll be happy to teach you how to ride a bike."
Elle happily hugged Reid.
"Thank you, sweetie," smiled Elle. "When we buy a motorcycle and bring it home, I want to park it in the living room."
"Why, Elle?" asked Reid.
"I want to take you for a ride on it," answered Elle.
"Okay," said Reid. "After we both get motorcycle helmets, of course."
"I love how innocent you are," giggled Elle. "We won't need helmets for this ride! Or clothes."
Elle winked at Reid and they both laughed and kissed each other's lips.
"I love you, Mrs. Reid," smiled Reid.
"I love you, too, Dr. Reid," smiled Elle.
The following week, the BAU team stopped a child killer who turned out to be a child himself in Ozona, Texas. JJ was instrumental in helping the local police identify the unsub and save the lives of three abducted girls in North Mammon, Pennsylvania. In Seattle, Washington, Reid and Elle helped Gideon stop a serial bomber who kidnapped a book author because he thought that she was his mother.
Hotch got an unexpected interview visit from an Agent Emily Prentiss in his office. After the BAU team closed a case involving two different killers in St. Louis, Missouri, Agent Prentiss was waiting inside Hotch's office to impress him with her profiling skills in a second interview. So, Hotch let Prentiss join the team. Prentiss joined Reid and Gideon in Guantanamo Bay. Gideon talked to an incarcerated terrorist named Jind Allah. Outside the interrogation room, Reid profiled Jind Allah while Prentiss used her fluent Arabic translating skills. JJ and Garcia remained at Quantico to translate code letters online that mentioned a possible attack in Annandale, Virginia. Hotch, Elle and Morgan checked the first cell house with the DEA team. Morgan found a list of chemicals and he checked with Garcia to see what they were for. She told him they were ingredients for weaponizing Anthrax. Gideon told Jind Allah that his team was in the Annandale trailer location as they spoke. Jind Allah relaxed his hands.
"Jihad is forever," said Jind Allah.
Reid picked up the phone.
"His hands," said Reid. "Gideon, something's wrong. This guy seemed relieved by what you just told him."
"Excuse me," said Gideon.
He joined Reid and Prentiss outside of the interrogation room saying, "Got a hunch."
Gideon called Hotch immediately.
Hotch answered, "What's the problem?"
"Get everybody out of there! Now, now, now!" yelled Gideon.
"Everybody out!" yelled Hotch. "It's a trap! Now! I said, out! Go!"
Hotch, Elle, Morgan, Ryan and the SWAT team ran out of the trailer. Suddenly, it exploded. Reid's heart stopped. He immediately called his wife. Prentiss and Gideon were watching Reid.
"Please answer, Elle," anxiously hoped Reid. "Please answer."
"Agent Greenaway," answered Elle.
Reid breathed a huge sigh of relief.
"Elle," said Reid. "You're alive. What happened?"
"Gideon warned us just in time," answered Elle. "The trailer was rigged to explode."
"Are you all right?" asked Reid.
"I'm fine, sweetie," said Elle. "So are Morgan and Hotch. But, a SWAT agent was killed. Morgan's friend, Kenny. Agent Ryan is furious."
Reid looked at Prentiss and Gideon.
"The trailer was rigged to explode," repeated Reid. "Nearly everybody got out safely. Elle, Hotch and Morgan are fine. But, Morgan's friend, Kenny from SWAT was killed."
"Was Anthrax involved?" asked Prentiss.
"No," answered Elle from hearing Prentiss. "No Anthrax."
"No," repeated Reid.
"Annandale wasn't the final target," said Gideon while answering Hotch's phone call.
Reid continued talking to Elle.
"I was so worried about you, Elle," admitted Reid.
"You, my love, carried me in your arms into our honeymoon threshold for good luck, remember?" smiled Elle.
"Yes, I remember," smiled Reid. "Do you need anything, Elle?"
"Yeah," answered Elle. "A big kiss and a whole night in your arms."
"You got it, Mrs. Reid," smiled Reid.
"Hey," smiled Elle. "Thanks for checking on me, Dr. Reid."
"You would have done the same thing for me," smiled Reid.
"Yeah," laughed Elle. "I would have. I love you, Spencer."
"I love you, too, Elle," smiled Reid as he hung up the phone.
"Mrs. Reid?" said Prentiss. "You and Elle Greenaway are married?"
"Yes," answered Reid. "For over six months now."
"Congratulations," smiled Prentiss.
"Thank you," said Reid.
Gideon walked back into the interrogation room. Prentiss, Reid and Gideon discovered that Jind Allah recruited some local homegrown terrorists while in prison. Hotch, Elle, Morgan and the SWAT team stopped the homegrown terrorists from dispersing the Anthrax weapon up on the roof of a local DC mall by shooting them all dead while wearing gas masks. Elle phoned Reid to tell him that she survived the Anthrax trap unharmed. Prentiss turned out to be okay in Gideon's book. He officially rose the BAU team members from 7 to 8.
At the end of the next case involving a local teenage boy named Nathan Harris approaching Elle and Reid, prostitutes getting murdered and a lady politician trying to order Hotch to stop JJ from releasing a press conference to help catch the unsub, JJ walked into the bullpen and saw Elle and Prentiss playing a game of chess.
"Where's Reid?" asked JJ.
"Garcia took him out for a drive in Esther to try to cheer him up about Nathan going into a hospital tomorrow morning," answered Elle.
"Well, why didn't you go with them?" asked JJ.
"I told him a half truth," answered Elle. "That I wanted some time to get to know Emily better. The whole truth is Spencer told me that after the Guantanamo Bay case, Emily played a game of chess against Gideon...and she beat him! I asked her to teach me some chess moves. I want to be a girl-Gideon and beat my husband every once in a while in chess!"
Elle and JJ laughed.
"Elle," said JJ. "Do you know why Nathan's presence upset Spence so much?"
"Yes," answered Elle. "But, I promised him that I would let him tell you guys the answer to that when he's ready."
Prentiss made a mistake in her next chess move.
"Hmmm," observed Elle. "That's the third mistake you've made. Your mind is definitely not on the game tonight, Emily Prentiss."
"Sorry," said Prentiss.
"Are you all right, Emily?' asked JJ.
"Not really," answered Prentiss.
"What is on your mind tonight?" asked Elle.
"Hotch," answered Prentiss. "Both of you have worked with Hotch for a while now. Has he ever made either one of you feel like he doesn't trust women as much as he does men in this job?"
"No," answered JJ. "Last month he told me that I did exceptional work in the North Mammon case. Then, he asked me if I wanted to take the classes to become a profiler."
"He did?" asked Elle.
"What did you say?" asked Prentiss.
"I told him no," answered JJ. "I admire what you guys do, but I like my role. Being the person who the worried families can turn to. And, being the person who the overworked homicide detective calls when he or she runs out of leads."
"Hotch has always trusted me in the field," answered Elle. "Gideon is the one who called me impatient. Why do you ask?"
"I saw him talking to Congresswoman Steyers in his office yesterday," answered Prentiss. "I know her myself because she worked with my mother. At the 16 year old girl's murder scene, I asked Hotch what were they talking about. He pulled me into his office saying that he doesn't like being asked questions in front of the rest of the team. And, he accused me of telling Steyers information about this case behind his back for a political agenda. The truth is, I hate politics. And, I don't understand why Hotch would think I would ever do that!"
"Hotch is a bully," said JJ. "But, I think he was asking the congresswoman if she had anything to do with you coming to our team."
"Why do you say that?" asked Prentiss.
"Emily," answered JJ. "Neither Hotch or Gideon were expecting another profiler to join our team. I think Hotch wants to know who it was who brought you to our team."
"Maybe," said Elle. "Whoever did bring you to our team either has a good reason or a diabolical reason behind it. Hopefully, we can figure out who did it and stop them if it is for a diabolical reason."
"Do you know who brought you in, Emily?" asked JJ.
"No," answered Prentiss. "I received a phone call saying I was accepted into Agent Hotchner's team in the BAU."
"Well, tell me this," said Elle. "Was it a man or a woman who called you?"
"A woman," answered Prentiss.
"Ah," said Elle. "Then, maybe she's the woman who Hotch has trust issues with. Did you suspect any woman of pulling strings for you, Emily?"
"Just my mother," answered Prentiss. "But, I asked her about it after Hotch said that he wasn't expecting me. She denied having anything to do with my coming here. I don't think she even likes me being in the BAU."
"Well, that rules out nepotism," said Elle. "But, as for Steyers, I think she was the reason why Hotch wouldn't let you do a press conference right away, JJ."
JJ gasped.
"And, that's why after JJ did do the press conference, we had the prostitutes ready to talk to Steyers in the conference room," realized Prentiss.
"Well, let's give this a year," said Elle. "Maybe by then the mystery of whoever brought you into our team will be solved."
"Deal," said Prentiss. "Okay, enough talking about me. Let's talk a little about you guys. I know that you're married to Reid, Elle. In Guantanamo Bay, I saw Reid calling you worrying whether or not you were okay from the Annandale bomb trap. He clearly loves you. And, I know that you have the highest rate of arrests in sex crimes. And, I've known for years through my mother that Hotch is married. Reid is clearly a genius. Gideon is definitely a loner. And, Morgan is well...Morgan! What about you and Garcia, JJ? Any boyfriends?"
"Garcia is hoping to someday become Mrs. Derek Morgan," smiled Elle.
"You want to talk about worrying and love?" added JJ. "You two should have seen Garcia begging for Morgan to pick up the phone after we saw a breaking news report about a gas main explosion in Annandale. And, the relief on her face because Morgan picked up the phone."
Prentiss laughed, "And, you, JJ?"
"Oh, no," answered JJ. "Honestly? I think Elle got the best and last guy that this world could have offered me."
"Don't say that, JJ," said Elle. "Mr. Right could be just around the corner. For both of you."
JJ laughed. Morgan's phone started ringing and he answered it.
"Hey, Baby Girl," answered Morgan. "Whoa, whoa, slow down, Mama. Take a deep breath."
The three ladies looked over at Morgan.
"Now, slowly, what happened?" asked Morgan. "What? - Where? - Okay. Elle, Hotch and Gideon are still here. - I'll tell them and then we're on our way, Garcia."
Morgan hung up the phone and yelled, "HOTCH!"
Gideon and Hotch came out of Hotch's office. Elle, Prentiss and JJ walked over to Morgan.
"What is it, Morgan?" asked Hotch.
"Garcia just called me," answered Morgan. "Nathan Harris tried renting a hotel room with a prostitute tonight."
"Oh, no," said Gideon.
"You're saying that he killed the prostitute?" asked Hotch.
"No," answered Morgan. "Nathan tried to kill himself by slashing his wrists."
"What?" said Elle.
"Oh, my God," said JJ.
"Suicide?" asked Prentiss.
"The prostitute called Reid," continued Morgan. "Garcia and Reid went to the hotel room and they kept Nathan alive until the EMTs arrived at the hotel. Garcia and Reid need both of us, Elle."
"Right," said Elle.
"I'm coming, too," said Gideon.
"I'll call Nathan's mother," said JJ.
Elle, Gideon and Morgan arrived at the hotel in time to observe Nathan being put into the back of an ambulance. Morgan went over to Garcia. Her bloody hands were shaking.
"How did she get Reid's phone number?" asked Morgan.
"Nathan sat Reid's business card down on the bed before he started cutting himself," answered Garcia. "Like a suicide note."
Elle and Gideon went over to Reid. He was trying to wipe off his bloody hands with a towel.
"Oh, man," whispered Elle. "Sweetie, are you okay?"
"He...wanted me to let him die, Elle," said Reid.
Elle lovingly put her hands on Reid's face.
"But, you couldn't let him die," said Elle. "That's not who you are."
"The paramedics say that he wouldn't have made it without you," said Gideon. "You saved his life."
"He didn't want me to save him," said Reid.
"He's sick," said Gideon. "He needed saving."
"But, how many people's lives did I risk in the future?" asked Reid.
"Profiles can be wrong," said Gideon.
"How many bad guys try to kill themselves before they can become murderers, Spencer?" asked Elle.
"Not many," answered Reid. "But, what if the profile was right? What if next time, Nathan actually does kill someone?"
"Then, you catch him," answered Gideon.
Elle and Gideon escorted Reid to the SUV while Morgan escorted Garcia to her car, Esther to drive home for the night. Elle and Reid arrived at home and closed the front door behind them.
"It's been a long day," said Elle. "Come on. Let's wash your hands and then go to bed."
"I think I'll just take a shower, Elle," said Reid.
"Oh," said Elle. "Okay."
"I won't be long," said Reid.
Reid went upstairs into the bathroom and he turned on the shower head. He undressed himself and he stepped into the hot shower. Reid took a washcloth and soap and he scrubbed Nathan's blood off of his hands. Then, he let the shower stream run through his head as he started crying. Suddenly, he felt two soft arms hugging him from behind. Elle had undressed herself and she discreetly joined her husband in the shower.
"Mmmm," happily moaned Elle.
"Elle?" said Reid. "What are you...?"
"I want to take a shower, too," smiled Elle. "We both vowed for better or worse when we got married, remember? Like you said, we can't always control when the worse will happen..."
Elle turned Reid around so she could get her face and hair wet under the shower stream. She kissed Reid's cheek.
"But, we both have the power to bring in the better when we need to," continued Elle. "My love, you helped me deal with my personal baggage in Las Vegas and with the Bureau therapist. Your personal baggage is you're afraid that someday you'll become a paranoid schizophrenic just like Diana. Nathan reminded you of that during this case."
"Yeah," tearfully admitted Reid. "Like Nathan, I know what it's like to be afraid of my own mind."
"You've taken care of me, sweetie," said Elle. "Now, it's my turn to take care of you. Just let it all out."
Elle took Reid into her arms and she let him sob uncontrollably on her shoulder.
"I've read your books about schizophrenia since we got married," said Elle. "I know you're afraid that our future children might inherit schizophrenia just like you might before you turn 30. I want you to know that I will be by your side if that happens. I want to help you just like you've helped me. I love you, Dr. Reid."
"I love you, too, Mrs. Reid," said Reid.
Elle and Reid gently kissed each other's lips.
"And this way, we can save a little bit on the water bill, don't you think?" winked Elle. "Now, turn around so I can wash your back."
"Thank you, Elle," smiled Reid.
"Lover, don't thank me yet," grinned Elle. "We're still on our honeymoon!"
The following week, Morgan was arrested for suspected murder of a boy in his hometown, Chicago, Illinois while he was visiting his mother for her birthday. The BAU team went to Chicago to clear Morgan's name. Detective Gordinski told Hotch and Gideon that Morgan had an expunged criminal record for assault. JJ asked Garcia to unseal Morgan's expunged record online. Elle, Reid and Prentiss talked to Morgan's mother and two sisters at his mother's house. Detective Dennison took Prentiss over to the local youth center where Morgan trained for football as a teenager. Morgan slipped out of the precinct and he talked to the murdered boy's best friend, James Barstow.
Morgan confronted the youth center director, Carl Buford while Hotch, Gideon, Dennison and Gordinski listened in unseen. Morgan got verbal proof that Buford was a child molester and that he was the one who murdered the boy, Damien Walters because Damien wanted James Barstow to tell either Morgan or Gordinski that Buford was molesting him. And, years ago, Buford also molested Morgan. Gordinski and Dennison arrested Buford for murdering Damien Walters. Morgan succeeded in clearing his own name.
The BAU team flew back to DC while Morgan stayed in Chicago to attend Damien Walter's funeral. Hotch and Gideon were at the front of the jet talking to each other. Elle was snuggling in Reid's arms. JJ and Prentiss were sitting on the opposite side of Reid and Elle.
"What's on your mind, Elle?" asked Reid.
"Morgan," answered Elle. "I thought that nothing could have been worse than me as an 8 year old watching my mother getting the phone call saying that my dad was shot dead in the line of duty. But, Derek's family said that he was in his dad's squad car as a 10 year old watching his dad getting shot dead in the line of duty. I never would have thought that Morgan and I had that kind of loss in common."
"I never would have thought that Morgan had an expunged criminal record," said JJ.
"I never would have thought that Morgan constantly talks to his two sisters about me," said Reid.
"I never would have thought that Morgan was getting molested as a child by Carl Buford," said Prentiss.
"That explains why Morgan was so rough in arresting Michael Earlson in Mount Pleasant," realized Elle. "Morgan hates child molesters and rapists almost as much as I do. Last year, we took a road trip together hunting down a lady killing chameleon and all I learned about Morgan was that he was a slob who left empty soda cans and fast food wrappers all over the back seat of the car."
"When we drove out to South Boston to interview Rebecca Bryant's parents," said JJ. "I learned that Morgan doesn't like detectives who didn't even try looking for Rebecca in her two year long missing persons case. I also learned to make sure my seat belt is fastened while he is driving!"
Elle chuckled, "That's why I drove the whole time we were hunting for the chameleon."
Prentiss laughed, "That gives me some things with him to look forward to."
Elle and JJ laughed.
"Well," said Reid. "Morgan stood up to his monster and got him arrested for murder and he cleared his own name. To me, that makes this a good ending for a case."
"Yeah," agreed Prentiss.
"And, Buford won't be able to molest or murder another child again," added Elle.
"Watching Buford comforting Damien Walter's mother while knowing that he murdered Damien will haunt me for awhile," said JJ.
"But, now that we know all of these things about Morgan," said Elle. "How do we treat him when he returns to DC?"
"As the newest team member," said Prentiss. "I don't think Morgan would want us to treat him any differently than we did before."
"So, I can still tell Spence to ignore Morgan's teasing him?" asked JJ.
"And, I can still hit Morgan when he does tease my husband?" added Elle. "I can live with that!"
The three ladies laughed. Reid kissed Elle's cheek.
Most of the BAU team gathered together at O'Keefe's bar to enjoy a Super Bowl party. Prentiss was enjoying sharing drinks with Garcia, Elle, Hotch, and Haley. Garcia was hypnotized from watching Morgan dancing with three girls. Hotch and Haley went out on the dance floor together. Elle got up and she pulled Reid away from a couple who were doing a Star Trek trivia game with him. Elle and Reid went out on the dance floor together as well.
"One two three," smiled Elle. "One two three."
JJ was beating two guys in a dart game when she received a phone call. Reid and Elle saw JJ leaving O'Keefe's to take the call. JJ came back in announcing that the team had a new case while she phoned Gideon. He was enjoying seeing a new bird display with a friend at the Smithsonian institute.
The case was in Atlanta, Georgia. Garcia played the 911 phone recording that sounded like three different people had broken into the house to kill the couple. The BAU team investigated the murder scene when they arrived. A bible passage was left at the house. Garcia told Morgan that the unsub shot a video of the couple's murder online and it was getting millions of views. Reid and Garcia deduced that the unsub was spying in people's homes through their computer's cameras. The next day, the unsub caught a married woman online cheating on her husband with a repairman. He went to the Douglas house and killed the repairman and he abducted Mrs. Douglas. Then, he broadcasted her murder live online with his three attack dogs. Garcia and the BAU team helplessly watched Mrs. Douglas getting eaten alive. Sheriff Farraday recognized the three dogs and told the team that they belonged to a Tobias Hankel.
The BAU team arrived at the Hankel farm with the local police. Hotch and Gideon went inside the house searching for Hankel. Reid and Morgan searched outside in the cornfield. Farraday and the local police searched outside the front of the house. Elle, JJ and Prentiss searched inside the barn.
Elle and Prentiss looked around and JJ stepped on something squishy. It was the bloody remains of Mrs. Douglas. The three ladies heard growling and they all saw through their flashlights three attack dogs looking at them and licking their chops. One of the dogs charged at JJ and she screamed. Outside in the cornfield, Morgan and Reid heard the screaming followed by four gunshots.
"Elle," said Reid.
"Let's go," said Morgan.
Reid followed Morgan towards the barn.
"Elle!" called Reid. "JJ!"
Farraday came into the barn. Prentiss and Elle were helping JJ get on her feet because she was bitten in her arm by one of the dogs. JJ was in shock. Her heart was pounding.
"What happened?" asked Farraday.
"We found the three dogs from that video," answered Prentiss.
"Or, rather, they found us," added Elle.
"JJ, are you hurt?" asked Morgan.
"I'll call her an ambulance," said Farraday.
"We had to kill them..." said JJ. "They just completely tore her apart..."
"Take it easy, JJ," said Prentiss.
Morgan looked at the three attack dogs lying dead.
Elle looked behind Morgan asking, "Where's Reid?"
Morgan looked at the bloody remains of Mrs. Douglas and he closed his eyes saying, "Oh, damn..."
"There's nothing left to even..." continued JJ.
"Derek Morgan," said Elle. "Look at me. Look at me!"
Morgan looked at Elle.
"Where's Reid?!" anxiously asked Elle.
Morgan answered, "He's right here behind...Reid?"
"Reid?" said Prentiss.
Elle's heart stopped while she gasped.
"Oh, no," whispered Elle.
"Oh, man," said Morgan. "He was right behind me, Elle."
Elle ran out of the barn.
"Prentiss," said Morgan. "Stay with JJ."
Elle dashed into the cornfield like she was running for the Olympic Gold while looking for her husband. It took all of Morgan's unsub chasing skills to keep up with her.
One minute earlier, Morgan and Reid ran through the cornfield to check on the BAU ladies in the barn.
"Elle!" called Reid. "JJ!"
Suddenly, Reid got punched in the face and he fell down while dropping his gun. Tobias Hankel picked up the gun and pointed it at Reid.
"Wait, wait, wait," said Reid while putting his hands up.
"I couldn't stop them by myself," cried Tobias.
"It's okay," said Reid.
"I tried to warn everyone," cried Tobias.
"Just relax, Mr. Hankel," said Reid. "All right?"
Tobias suddenly changed into Charles and said, "Shoot him!"
"What...?" said Reid while observing the multiple personality changes.
"I don't want to," cried Tobias.
"I said, shoot him, you weakling!" ordered Charles. "He's a Satan!"
"But, Dad," cried Tobias. "He didn't do anything."
Elle and Morgan heard the arguing in the cornfield between the Tobias and Charles personalities. They came up towards Hankel with their guns drawn.
"I won't tell you another time, boy!" ordered Charles. "Shoot him!"
"FBI!" yelled Elle.
Hankel turned around to see Elle and Morgan pointing their guns at him.
"Oh, man," cried Tobias.
"Stop your lip quivering and shoot them sinners!" ordered Charles.
"Don't move!" ordered Elle.
"Put the weapon down, Hankel," said Morgan.
Hankel suddenly changed into Raphael saying, "I'm not interested in the arguments of men."
"Uh, who are you?" asked Reid.
"I'm Raphael," said Raphael.
"Whoever you are, put the gun down!" said Morgan.
"Now, go, sinners to your God," said Raphael.
Hankel pointed the gun at Reid's forehead. In the ambulance, an EMT was shining a flashlight into JJ's eyes and giving her a rabies shot as well as bandaging her bitten left arm. JJ and Prentiss could hear four gunshots.
"Spence," whispered JJ. "Elle."
"Morgan," whispered Prentiss.
Morgan and Elle shot Hankel and he fell down on his back while dropping Reid's gun. Reid took his gun back and he looked at Hankel's face.
"You killed them," said Tobias.
"Tobias?" asked Reid.
"Do you think I'll get to see my mom again?" asked Tobias before he died.
Morgan and Elle pulled Reid up on his feet. Elle gave Reid a big bear hug and kiss. Reid hugged her back.
"Oh, my love," cried Elle. "Oh, God, sweetie."
"Elle, are you hurt?" asked Reid. "Morgan and I heard some screaming and shooting in the barn."
"I'm fine," tearfully answered Elle. "We went into the barn and we found Hankel's three attack dogs hiding in the dark."
"JJ and Emily...?" asked Reid.
"They're fine," tearfully answered Elle. "We shot all of the dogs dead. JJ got bitten by one of them. Emily took her to an EMT."
"Thank goodness," sighed Reid. "After watching what those dogs did to Mrs. Douglas, I was afraid that something bad had happened to you in that barn, Elle."
"And, when you didn't follow Morgan into the barn to see that I was okay," tearfully said Elle. "I was afraid that something bad was going to happen to you!"
Elle and Reid continued tightly hugging each other.
"Thank you both," cried Reid. "You've saved my life, Elle."
"Just like you've saved my life," cried Elle. "I love you, Spencer."
"I love you, too, Elle," cried Reid.
"I'm sorry, kid," said Morgan. "I thought you were right behind me..."
"Morgan," sniffled Reid. "It's all right. This wasn't your fault."
Elle, Reid and Morgan returned to the rest of the BAU team and told them all that Tobias Hankel was dead.
The BAU team spent the next day in Hankel's house. Hotch brought in Garcia to analyze Hankel's computers. Reid speed-read all of Hankel's journals. Elle, JJ and Prentiss spoke to a drug anonymous sponsor of Hankel's. And, Morgan, Hotch and Gideon found the preserved body of Charles Hankel frozen in a cellar. After Elle, Morgan and Reid described Tobias Hankel's three different personalities, Gideon deduced that after Tobias killed his father, Charles, along with his dilaudid drug addiction, his mind fractured into those three different personalities: Tobias himself, his father Charles and Raphael the mediator between the two of them.
