Daniel and Mingo looked at each other. When someone had a price on their head, it was rarely because they had done something bad. Usually it was because they had done something's against the British army.
"Wanted by the British? Daniel, what have you gotten yourself into?" Mingo asked.
"I'm beginin' to wonder. I wonder what she did?" Daniel kept his voice low.
"Mmm...spy?" guessed Mingo.
"Maybe."
"She cannot be any more dangerous than we are. We have prices on our head."
"True," Daniel nodded as he climbed back up the ladder into the roof.
"She had a soldier escort her out here."
"I saw. Maybe she is the daughter of a famous patriot and he was her protection," Daniel looked about to see where he had left his hammer.
Mingo handed up the tool, "Possible, but I doubt it."
"Can you hand me that piece of wood down there on the bench, please?" Daniel asked, "We have a lot of people here in Boonesboro that we don't know the backgrounds of."
"You're not concerned?"
"A little," Daniel shrugged as he swung the hammer.
"Should we ask her about it?"
"Curious?" Daniel chuckled.
Mingo gave Daniel a look.
"Would you pass me the bucket of nails?"
"How about next time you get all the supplies you need and take up to the roof with you so I do not have to stand down here and pass you everything," Mingo sighed.
"It keeps you coming around."
"Daniel, come wash up for lunch!" Rebecca called, "Mingo, you'll stay for lunch too."
"Thank you," he knew Rebecca well enough to know it was more of a command than an invitation.
"Have you met our friend, Rose?" Rebecca asked as they entered the cabin.
"Briefly, outside," he glanced to the young woman who busy slicing fresh bread.
"Once Dan comes in, we can eat," Rebecca scanned the table.
"And after we have finished, I have something I want to talk to you about," Rose gave a meaningful look at Daniel and Mingo.
