July 4

Biscayne Park – Miami, Florida

Happy applause filled the small grassy area as Tim, who was dressed in a brand new suit sporting a flower in the pocket, and Emily, who was wearing a white dress that had a simple neckline, sleeves that were adorned with flowers, and ballgown skirt, gently kissed each other. Their wedding had been short, but sweet.

Emily then went over and hugged Ryan, who was sitting on a chair because he had been released from hospital just a few days earlier and had use of both hands, but was still on crutches for his leg, "Congratulations," Ryan said as he slowly got to his feet and hugged Emily with one arm while holding to a crutch. "I'm glad you and Speedle were finally able to…"

"How are you feeling?" Emily replied in a worried voice. "You look really tired."

Ryan sighed, "I'm tired and sore, but this is your day," he replied quietly. "Have fun."

Emily nodded and Ryan sighed, slowly taking a seat while Emily and Tim continued down the aisle to mingle with everyone else. He needed to go rest somewhere, but he didn't even have the strength to get up, "Hey Wolfe, you all right?" Ryan heard a quiet voice ask from above.

Ryan gave Eric a look as Eric sat down next to him, "Delko, shh," he spoke softly. "I don't want people to start fussing over me on my sister's wedding day. I'm just feeling a little tired."

"I can run you back to the Speedle's house if you want," Eric replied calmly. "I gotta go anyway because people need to be at the lab even if it is July 4th and Speed's wedding day."

Nodding, Ryan slowly lifted himself with his crutches, "Emily knew I'd probably get tired by the reception, so she and Tim did family photos before the ceremony," he spoke in a tired voice.

Eric nodded and led Ryan over to his Hummer, taking care to help his friend into the vehicle before getting in himself, "I'm thinking of going out of town for a while," Ryan spoke as Eric started the vehicle and drove away from the reception. "I just need a break from things."

"Do Emily and Speed know?" Eric asked in a worried voice. "You're still recovering."

Ryan sighed, "I can't fly, I know, but there are other ways to travel," he replied softly.

Eric frowned, but didn't say anything as the Hummer traveled through the streets, "I don't need to be babysat, Delko," Ryan said in a tired voice. "I know Horatio closed the lab for the…"

"H is concerned that you might get attacked again if you're left alone for too long at any time," Eric replied calmly, knowing the ruse was up. "I'll stay with you til the Speedles come home."

Ryan nodded reluctantly, "Do you wanna go by a drive thru on the way there for a shake?" Eric asked in a calm voice, noticing that Ryan was in pain. "Might help your headache."

"I haven't eaten since breakfast," Ryan admitted softly. "A shake might be good."

Eric nodded as he came to a stop at a traffic light and frowned as a black van with tinted windows suddenly pulled up alongside them, "Drive," Ryan said nervously. "NOW!"

Wondering why Ryan was freaking out, Eric pressed the gas pedal to the floor and took off, "I noticed the car at the wedding and I decided to leave to see if it would follow me!" Ryan explained in an anxious voice, his eyes wide as the van followed them. "Go faster, Delko!"

"This Hummer can only go so fast!" Eric replied in anxious voice. "Who are those guys?"

Before Ryan could reply, bullets started hitting the Hummer and Eric quickly turned on to a side street to get away. The van, however, quickly followed, "I was visiting with Rick yesterday about his visit to New York and I guess people thought we were discussing Lindsey," Ryan breathed.

Eric swore, "I settled Rick and his son somewhere safe last night because Rick had a feeling we were being watched!" Ryan said, his voice rising as a shot shattered the windshield. "Delko!"

Suddenly, a barrage of gunfire enveloped the Hummer and a bullet struck Eric in the head, rendering him unconscious, "DELKO!" Ryan screamed as Delko slumped over on to the wheel.

As Delko bled out, Ryan pushed him off the wheel and grabbed the steering wheel just as the hummer slammed into a roadside barrier. The impact of the hit caused the Hummer to flip over the barrier, fly through the air, and land upside down in an open field, heavily damaged.

Shaking, Ryan extended his left hand out until he touched the radio and pulled it towards him.

"…Ryan?"

Having passed out from shock and pain after sending a distress call through the Hummer's radio, Ryan twitched when he felt a gloved hand touch his face, "Ryan!" the voice repeated.

Ryan groaned as he slowly opened his eyes and saw that he was still trapped in the Hummer, but Detective Caine was at the window, looking at him, "Firefighters are getting ready to get you out, Ryan," Robert said in a concerned voice. "They already got Delko out and off…"

"Delko?" Ryan asked in a shaking voice. "Delko…Delko was shot in the head…"

Robert nodded, "He's been taken off to the hospital," he replied calmly. "Are you hurt?"

"I-I…I don't know," Ryan replied in a shaking voice. "Delko was driving me from the…"

A loud buzzing sound suddenly filled the air, causing Ryan to cringe and whimper, "That's just the Jaws cutting you out," Robert said in a calming voice. "Keep your eyes focused on me."

"I thought you quit?" Ryan asked in a shaking voice. "I heard you went back to school."

Robert nodded, "I finished my degree, but I'm still an MDPD detective," he replied calmly.

A loud cracking sound filled the air as the door was moved away and paramedics immediately swarmed the car, cutting Ryan from his seatbelt before lifting him from the Hummer. Ryan's eyes widened as he saw that the Hummer was totalled, blood was all over the road and the grass, and the roadside barrier had been cracked in half by the speeding Hummer. Bullets were scattered all over the Hummer, the road, and the roadside barrier. It looked like a massacre.

"Ryan, you still with me?" Ryan heard Robert's voice say worriedly. "Ryan?"

Ryan suddenly realized that he was on a gurney and that blood was seeping through his casted leg, "…I'm here to process the scene," he suddenly heard Natalia say. "Callieigh's here too…"

Robert nodded at Natalia, who was gazing at Ryan worriedly while Calleigh stood behind her, shocked at the news that Eric had been shot in the head, "Start processing the scene, please," he said in a concerned voice. "I've notified Lieutenant Caine of the situation…"

"He's at Emily and Speedle's wedding along with everyone else," Ryan spoke up anxiously, the pain increasing as he lay on the gurney, hating that the paramedics were checking him over.

Robert silently moved back to the gurney, "Ryan, I know you're frightened and quite possibly seriously injured, but I need you to tell me what happened," he said in a concerned voice.

When Ryan didn't respond, Robert looked up and saw that Ryan was rapidly losing consciousness, "He's going into shock!" Robert snapped. "Get him to the hospital NOW!"

While the paramedics hauled Ryan off into an ambulance while trying to stabilize him, Robert silently turned his attention to Calliegh and Natalia, keeping his gun out in case he needed it.

Coral Way Hospice Villas

"You are an IDIOT, Memmo!" Bernard, who now sat in a wheelchair during the day because his beating up Ryan had damaged his heart significantly, snapped as he glared up at Memmo Fierro. "Sit down or kneel, I do not care. My neck is hurting just by looking up at you."

Memmo gave Bernard a look and then sat in a nearby chair, "You are very, very stupid for shooting at Ryan against my orders," Bernard hissed, his eyes filled with fury. "Now…"

The door opened and a nervous looking man came into the room, "Senor' Marquez, forgive me," the man said as he got on his knees before Bernard. "Memmo's shots injured a cop."

Bernard glared daggers at Memmo before nodding at the man, "Who did Memmo get, Antonio?" he asked in a worried voice. "He better not have popped off Rick Stetler…"

"Some CSI named Delko," Antonio Riaz replied anxiously. "Clavo yelled at him to stop and come back to the place to wait for a time when Ryan was alone, but Memmo kept shooting."

Bernard's eyes widened in fury, "Memmo popped him off in the head," Antonio confessed.

Infuriated, Bernard backhanded Memmo to the floor and scoffed, "First, you lose Lindsey Willows and then you pop off a CSI," he hissed angrily. "I suggest you get out of here before I either order a hit on your sorry carcass or turn you in. You're an absolutely worthless…"

Nodding anxiously, Memmo got to his feet and quickly left, "Antonio, tail him," Bernard ordered in a cold voice as he glared at Antonio Riaz. "If he steps out of line again…"

"I swear I will do it!" Antonio replied anxiously as he got to his feet. "Get some rest!"

As Antonio left, Bernard slowly wheeled himself over to his kitchenette to get his pills.

Miami-Dade University Hospital

Nearly an hour after getting the call about the ambush on Eric and Ryan, Horatio entered the hospital and saw Robert talking with Rosa and Anthony Speedle at the desk, "…Lieutenant Caine," Rosa said in an anxious voice as she saw Horatio. "The reception ended when we got the call and Emily and Tim are at home with James and Julliet. We said we would come…"

"CSI's Boa Vista and Duquesne are still processing the scene and Patrol is on scene to protect them," Robert explained, gazing at his uncle. "Delko's upstairs in surgery and Ryan's unconscious due to injury and shock. When Ryan regains consciousness, I'll get a statement."

Horatio frowned, "I'm on my way to check on Ryan now," Robert said calmly.

Nodding, Horatio walked with the Speedles as Bobby led them through the hallway to a trauma room near the back of the ER. Ryan was unconscious on a gurney with his leg in a new cast, a bandage around his head that held a gauze pad to a wound on his forehead, and electrodes on his chest that were sending data to a heart monitor. IV's littered his arms and a pulse-ox clip sat on his finger while both a gown and blanket covered his body and an oxygen mask covered his sweaty, pale face. Alexx was standing beside the bed looking worried as she held his hand.

"Alexx," Horatio said as he entered the room. "Give me some information…"

Alexx sighed, "From what I've heard from upstairs, Eric's lost a good deal of blood and is in critical condition," she spoke softly. "I'm not sure they'll be able to get all of the bullet out."

Horatio swallowed hard, "He flatlined but adrenaline brought him back," Alexx continued.

"And Wolfe?" Horatio asked in a shaken voice, gazing at Ryan. "He doesn't look well."

There was a sigh as Anthony and Rosa came into the room with Robert, "Uncle Horatio, I just got a call from Tripp saying that Speedle and Emily left the kids with her and Ryan's sister and reported to the lab for work," Robert said in a quiet voice. "I thought you should know."

"Detective Caine, I'd like you to remain here until Mister Wolfe wakes up because we'll need a statement from him," Horatio replied calmly. "Alexx, keep me updated on Eric's prognosis."

Miami-Dade Police Department/Crime Lab

"I'll have to bake Diana something as a thank you for taking James and Julliet," Emily spoke in a quiet voice as she silently dusted the inside of the Hummer for prints. "Anything interesting?"

Tim sighed as he examined the heavily damaged Hummer, "A huge amount of bullet holes mostly in the passenger side," he replied in a worried voice. "Can you even bake?"

"I can make stuff, I just haven't done it in a while," Emily replied softly. "I just hope…"

Tim frowned as Emily paused, "I can't believe Eric was shot in the head and Ryan injured," she said in a distressed voice as she put tape over the radio and pulled off prints before putting them in an envelope for processing. "I didn't think I'd use my Criminalistics degree this way."

"In what way?" Tim asked as he gazed at Emily. "Do you think you're making Ryan mad?"

Emily shook her head, "I didn't think I'd be here on my wedding day while Ryan and Eric lay in hospital with Eric literally fighting for his life," she replied quietly, suddenly hearing footsteps.

"What are you doing here?" Horatio asked in a confused voice. "I'd like an explanation."

Emily turned and looked at Horatio, "I've got my qualification and I am doing my part because my brother and Officer Delko are both lying in hospital," she replied in a firm voice. "I borrowed Ryan's lab coat and my husband and I are processing the car. I am dusting for prints and Tim…"

"I'm seeing if whoever ran this car off the road left anything behind," Tim replied calmly.

Horatio sighed, silently deciding to allow Emily to help because the lab needed the help with Eric out indefinitely, "Hold on," Tim suddenly said as he spotted something wedged in the trunk release and shone his flashlight on it. "H, it looks like a gun was wedged in here with…."

Emily frowned as Tim reached under the release and extracted the gun with his gloved hands, cringing in disgust as he saw chewing gum on it, "Let me dust that," she said as she got out and walked over to them. "That could have been used to start the shooting at Eric and Ryan."

Horatio watched as Emily dusted the gun and several prints appeared that she quickly captured in tape, "Keep working on the car," he said, taking the prints from Emily. "I'll process these."

Emily nodded and continued to dust the car while Horatio left the garage with prints in hand.

Miami-Dade University Hospital

"…Once he's out of here and able to work, he's going back on the payroll even if I have to twist your uncle's arm over it, Robert. He should have never been fired in the first place…"

Ryan moaned and opened his eyes, shocked when he saw Rick and Robert standing at the foot of his gurney in discussion. His attempt to speak was immediately muffled by a mask.

"Ryan, hi," Robert spoke in a kind voice, frowning when Ryan ripped the mask off. "Ryan…"

Ryan cringed, "I've never liked oxygen masks," he spoke anxiously. "Stetler knows that."

"Ryan, I would like you to tell Detective Caine what happened," Rick spoke quietly.

Ryan sighed and nodded, "I noticed a van at the wedding that looked out of place and I was worried that people could get hurt, so I was trying to figure out how to leave when Delko offered me a ride back to where I'd been staying since I got released," he spoke in a tired voice.

Rick gave Robert a look, "I was under the impression that Patrol was going to be providing a guard for Ryan, not CSI," he said in a stern voice. "You can bet I will be talking to your uncle…"

Robert nodded and silently sat next to the gurney, "Please, Ryan, continue," he said calmly.

"Delko admitted he was there at Horatio's request and offered to get me a milkshake because I had a headache from not eating since breakfast," Ryan replied tiredly. "We stopped at a traffic light and I suddenly saw that same van pull up beside us. I told Eric to floor it and he floored it. I told him about the van earlier and that's when the shooting started. The shots destroyed the windshield and Eric turned on to a side street. Not long after, Eric was shot in the head…"

Robert frowned as Ryan looked at Rick uncertainly, "How about you tell me why a van was following you in the first place?" Robert asked, immediately knowing something was up.

"Ryan was visiting Lenny and I last night so I could talk to him about the trip Lenny and I took to New York last month," Rick replied calmly. "Ryan had a feeling that someone was watching us and so he arranged for us to stay a few days at a hotel. I'll be paying him back for that shortly."

Robert looked concerned, but nodded, "It should have been me that was shot in the head," Ryan spoke in a trembling voice as he slowly sat up, frowning at the sight of Alexx in the hall.

Alexx sighed as she walked into the room, "I just got another call from upstairs," she said in a somber voice. "They can't get most of the bullet out of Eric's brain because it's lodged in his temporal lobe. I was about to call Horatio, but I figured I'd let you know first…"

Ryan paled, "This…this is my fault," he replied shakily. "I'm responsible for this!"

"Ryan, baby, it's not your fault," Alexx replied softly as she walked over to him. "Why…?"

Ryan felt tears fill his eyes, "It was a hit on me for talking to Stetler!" he snapped angrily.

"Bernard's too sick to care about that," Rick replied calmly, frowning as Ryan got out of bed.

Ignoring Alexx's concerned expression, Ryan stood on his good leg and gripped the rails of the gurney. Worried that Ryan would hurt himself, Rick hurried out of the room to find help.

"I have to go and deal with this," Ryan breathed as he struggled to stand up straight. "I have to go talk to Bernard and see what he can tell me. I have to see what I can to get him to leave…"

The doors opened and Rick came in followed by Dr. Loman and two nurses, "Just relax, Mister Wolfe," Dr. Loman said calmly, getting a syringe out of his lab coat pocket as the nurses gently took Ryan by the arms and gently, but forcibly returned him to the gurney. "Soft restraints."

"What…what are you doing?" Ryan asked in a panicky voice, struggling as the nurses silently broke out restraints and tied his wrists to the gurney rails. "I have to go see Bernard!"

Rick shook his head as Ryan continued to struggle to get off the gurney, "You're a danger to yourself right now, Ryan," Rick spoke softly. "As an officer of the law and a caseworker for Victims' Assistance, I'm authorized to order you to undergo a psych assessment under the Baker Act. I'm also turning every bit of information about Lindsey over to the MDPD and telling you to stop looking into her disappearance. The hospital's Behavioral Health Team will help you get to a level where I think you're safe to be out of the hospital. I will also notify your sister."

"Why would you order me to a psych ward, Rick?" Ryan gasped softly. "I thought you cared."

Rick sighed, "You've been going down a dark road since you were held hostage and it's not getting any better," he replied softly. "Did you or did you not tell John Sullivan Senior that you would be better off dead than alive, badly, injured, and stuck with the memories of your past?"

"THAT WAS A PRIVATE CONVERSATION!" Ryan shouted angrily at the top of his lungs, prompting Alexx to jump back in fear. "I was lying in that bed with nothing to do…"

Quickly recognizing that Ryan was trying to manipulate him into letting him go, Rick nodded at Dr. Loman, "Just think pleasant thoughts, Mister Wolfe," Dr. Loman said calmly as he injected the syringe into one of Ryan's IVs. "You'll wake up and be in a much more secure place."

"Please…" Ryan whimpered, falling silent as the drug quickly took effect and he fell asleep.

Alexx sighed heavily, "Please relocate Mister Wolfe here to Inpatient Services in the Psych Ward," Dr. Loman said calmly. "Sergeant Stetler, since you're the one who ordered it…"

"I have to sign him in and do the paperwork," Rick finished softly. "I am aware of that."

Dr. Loman nodded, "Detective Caine, you should go fill out a report based on what Ryan told you," Rick said in a quiet voice. "And then I want you to go get Lenny, Adam, and BJ…"

"I can handle that," Robert replied calmly, shaken by what Rick had just done. "About…"

Rick sighed, "Let me handle what I need to handle here and then you and I will have a private conversation about it later," he replied in a calm voice. "Doctor Woods, excuse me."

Alexx nodded as Rick followed Dr. Loman and the nurses as they moved Ryan's gurney from the room and out towards the elevators, "I've never seen Ryan like that," Robert mused worriedly.

"I don't know much about Ryan's past, but I do know he's been hurting a lot since he was nearly killed," Alexx replied quietly, remembering how she had been subject to Ryan's verbal tirades during his recovery. "Maybe…maybe things needed to happen this way for Ryan's sake."

Deeply shaken by Alexx's words, Robert nodded and silently left the Trauma Room with Alexx.

Miami-Dade Police Department/Crime Lab

"The prints on the gun come back to a Clavo Cruz," Tim spoke in a calm voice as he sat at the computer with a copy of the print on the screen. "Unfortunately, he has diplomatic…"

Tim trailed off as Horatio suddenly came into the lab where he and Emily had been analyzing prints from the gun, "I just got a call from Alexx about Eric," he spoke quietly, gazing at how close Emily and Tim had been sitting together at the computer. "Most of the bullet is lodged in Eric's temporal lobe, so it cannot be removed and will become a permanent part of him."

"That means Eric will have a permanent brain injury," Tim replied in a concerned voice.

Horatio nodded, "Eric is still in critical condition and should he survive, he will require extensive rehabilitation to regain lost skills," he replied quietly. "Emily, I was wondering if you would be able to be part of Eric's rehabilitation team because you not only have the clinical background, you have personal experience dealing with brain injuries because of the help you give James."

"Of course, Horatio," Emily replied softly. "I can tell you, however, that should Eric survive, he will probably need someone to take temporary guardianship of him because he won't be able to make his own personal and medical decisions for quite a while. From what I understand of the type of brain injury Eric has, he'll probably need help relearning how to do everything."

Tim sighed, "My mom's a social worker and I can talk to her about the process of temporary guardianship," he commented as Emily's cell phone suddenly went off. "Did you…?"

While Horatio and Tim continued to talk, Emily moved to the other side of the room as she answered the phone, "Emily Speedle," she said kindly. "Sergeant Stetler, hello."

Emily kept very quiet as Rick explained that he had used his authority as a law enforcement agent to get Ryan admitted to psychiatric care under the Baker Act after Ryan had tried to leave to go visit Bernard about Lindsey while in the process of a severe emotional outburst. Rick went on to explain that he would be finally heeded her advice and turning over all information to the PD's Missing Person's department; he simply didn't have the patience to keep dealing with it.

"I understand, Rick," Emily spoke softly. "I trust your judgment when it comes to my brother."

Rick quickly ended the call, promising to come in for a counseling session once he had talked to Sully and made sure Ryan was settled. Emily sighed and put the phone back in her pocket.

"Are we finished running the prints, Tim?" Emily asked softly as she walked back over to Tim and Horatio while removing Ryan's lab coat. "If so, I have paperwork to do in my office."

Tim gave Emily a funny look, "Does your sudden change in mood and desire to isolate yourself have something to do with the phone call you just took?" he asked in a concerned voice.

"I'm just tired, Tim," Emily replied quietly, not wanting to talk about Ryan in front of Horatio.

Tim immediately knew that Emily was concealing information because she didn't want Horatio to know something, "All right," he replied calmly. "When I'm done, I'll come to your office."

Horatio frowned, "If something's wrong, Emily, I'd like to help," he replied. "If I can."

Emily sighed and finally nodded, "Ryan woke up and somehow ended up emotionally charged enough to try and leave," she replied softly. "He wanted to go talk to Bernard about Rick's daughter and had a huge emotional outburst in the process. Rick got a doctor and ordered Ryan sedated, restrained, and admitted to the hospital for psychiatric care because Ryan kept having outbursts and tried to manipulate Rick into letting him leave. I think Ryan needs it, though."

Horatio looked concerned and raised an eyebrow when Tim nodded, "My mom said Ryan took off on long walks once he was able to get around on crutches," Tim admitted quietly. "She said that she or my dad would get a call from Patrol that Ryan was having panic attacks in parks and they would always go get him. He's also had insomnia since he first woke in the hospital."

"Why wasn't this brought to my attention?" Horatio asked in a quiet voice. "Speed?"

Emily sighed, "I was considering it, but Ryan kept promising me he would talk to you and I wanted to give him the chance," she replied quietly. "He thought that nobody cared…"

"Clean all this up and then I think we're going to have a chat," Horatio said firmly.

Psychiatric Unit - Miami-Dade University Hospital

Emotionally drained from the day, Rick stood at the window with his cell phone in hand, silently debating whether or not to phone Sully about what happened. Sully had been the one to initially gain Ryan's trust all those years ago, but Sully was now in New York with Yelina, his family, and his own life. Besides, he didn't know if Ryan actually wanted to talk to Sully.

The paperwork had been filled out and filed, but Rick had chosen to wait for Ryan to wake from sedation simply because he felt that Ryan deserved to know from him. Robert had since finished his work and gotten Adam, BJ, and Lenny from the hotel before going home.

A faint groan emitted from the bed and Rick turned just in time to see Ryan's eyes open, "Am I dead?" Ryan spoke in a faint, groggy voice as Rick approached the bed. "Where am I?"

"You're in the inpatient section of the Psychiatric Unit, Ryan," Rick spoke gently as he sat down in a chair beside the bed. "I decided it was necessary because you haven't been well recently."

Instead of protesting, Ryan sighed, "I've been trying to be," he replied in a groggy voice.

"I know for a fact you never got counseling once in your life," Rick replied softly. "Do you…?"

Ryan nodded, "Horatio never ordered it and I managed on Patrol," he replied groggily. "That's one of the things that Carlos asks me every time he writes: have I gone to counseling?"

"Well, you'll have plenty of it here," Rick replied calmly. "I got you admitted for 72 hours."

Ryan frowned, but he didn't argue, "It's the minimum I can get you. You need to start dealing with everything in your life and in your head," Rick explained gently. "You probably need more time here, but I'm not your legal guardian and I can't force you to stay past 72 hours, Ryan."

"I think I need to," Ryan spoke groggily, shaken that he had lost control so intensely enough that he could have hurt someone with more than just words. "How…how's Delko?"

Rick sighed, "In critical condition, last I heard," he replied. "Ryan, stop doing that."

"What am I doing?" Ryan asked in a groggy voice. "Delko drove me home and now…"

Rick scoffed softly, "You wanted to leave to keep others from getting hurt by whoever was in that van," he replied in a knowing voice. "You've got this insane desire to let yourself be hurt as much as possible by others and do whatever you can to keep others from getting hurt."

"Can…can you call Sully for me?" Ryan asked as he suddenly felt tired. "Tell him I'm sorry."

As Ryan drifted off to sleep, Rick held his cell-phone up and silently dialled Sully's number.

New York, New York

Sully's smile faded as he saw the number on the Caller ID feature that was on his phone; it was Rick and it more than likely had to do with Ryan as Ryan was the thing they had in common.

"John Sullivan," Sully spoke as he answered the phone. "Rick, what are you calling me for?"

Thoughts of meeting up with his family and Yelina at Central Park were pushed aside as Sully listened to Rick explain about Ryan's breakdown and psych hold, "…No, I don't think it was extreme for you to do that," Sully replied in a concerned voice. "I've been trying to get…"

Sully listened as Rick mentioned that Carlos Nieto should be told, as Carlos was one of the few actual friends that Ryan had kept over the years, "Next time I see Carlos, I'll tell him," Sully promised sincerely. "Tell Ryan that I want to talk to him when he's awake. Take care."

Setting the phone aside, Sully felt his mind reeling with shock as he got ready to go out.
