Ch. 15 Growing Pains

July 22, 2017 GJSDF Houston, Texas 9:52 a.m.

On the outside of the Global Justice headquarters it seemed about as normal as any other day. People came and went, as the days seemed to blend together though the news that transpired about the encounter with the W.E.E. agents stated a hot topic. None of the other soldiers knew exactly what happened other than the fact that Kim was injured in the altercation. It had been three days since Kim was injured and in that time she was visited by her friends as well as other soldiers. Her friends showed concern for her and wished her well while the other first years just wanted to know the details to see if the rumors were true. Surprisingly it was Bonnie that had to shoo away the inquiring minds of their fellow soldiers. Besides yesterday Bonnie didn't stay long but she made sure that outside of those Bonnie knew were the redheads real friends, she wasn't bothered by the others.

Even still the day was rather calm. It was days like this the Betty Director cherished. Peace and progress is what she strived for when she signed into the force when she was 18 and that was 30 years ago and she was almost 50 years old now. She leaned back in her chair and sighed, closing her eyes. She's had a lot of paperwork to fill out since Destiny and the rest returned from Japan. Several of her soldiers had been injured, one more so than the others. There is an island that kaiju inhabit and her brother, who leads an organization dedicated to uprooting everything the self defense force has accomplished is not only in possession of a kaiju but some sort of super soldier as well.

Betty opened her eyes when she heard a knock at her office door. She sat up and ran her hand through her hair and exhaled all she wanted was a 30 minute nap.

"Come in." Betty said with a gesture even though the person on the other side couldn't see her.

The door opened and a doctor walked in carrying several files. He briskly walked up to her desk as the woman eyed him or more so the files that he carried.

"Here are the files you requested." He told her as he sat the files on her desk.

The files carried information regarding the status conditions of Jacob and the others after their encounter with W.E.E. and their super soldier. Betty grabbed one of the files it was Jacob's and she skimmed through it since his injuries were the most minimal. The next file she grabbed was Destiny's, and she took her time going through it. The file detailed the intense strain her body went through as Destiny had ignited her plasma ability for an extended duration longer than she had been capable of doing. Her plasma abilities always seemed to be more taxing on her than they were on her siblings and for that reason Destiny had opted on not training the ability. On top of that she siphoned Shego's plasma from Kim and took it into herself and held the plasma in her until it was safe to discharge it without an immediate Kaiju threat.

The file said she had discharged the energy in the Pacific ocean aboard the Kunisaki as they had made their way back to the JSDF. At the JSDF tests were run on Destiny to show that she was fine for the most part except for the signs of stress her body had been showing from the recent use of her powers. There were obvious signs of fatigue and a few days' rest were prescribed to Destiny before they sent her and the team back home to Texas. However Betty was right to have another set of tests performed on everyone. These sets of tests were in a separate folder and showed that everyone had been screened except Shego who has still not shown up for it screening. She took her time reading the second set of results carefully going through what her team of doctors had jotted down. Starting with Kim since hers was the most extreme, then Jacob's before stopping on Destiny's. The doctor watched as her eyes moved from left to right taking in the information before stopping.

He could see her hands start to tremble as she took in Destiny's new status condition and to the doctors knowledge it was the first time he's seen her look so visibly shook.

"Dr. Director, is everything ok?" He asked her as he watched her reread the information, her mouth moving along with the words on the paper.

"She's WHAT!?" Betty exclaimed.

Bonnie walked down the halls of the second floor barracks. A towel was draped around her neck and she was in a gray sports bra and black gym shorts. She raised her right hand and gripped the towel wiping the sweat from her forehead before taking a drink from her bottle of water. She rounded a corner that led to where Kim's room was and as she neared the redheads room she was pleased to see that no one was outside of it. She walked up to the door and looked around surveying her surroundings before she gently and lightly grabbed the knob and gave it a small twist to see that it was locked. She smiled at the fact that Kim took her advice about keeping her door locked so she wouldn't be harassed even though Kim said it wasn't a total bother. Bonnie smiled inwardly at how bad the redhead was at lying.

She continued on to her room walking past a few of the other soldiers. They greeted her as she merely waved back since she was taking another gulp of water. It dawned on the brunette that she hadn't seen Shego in a few days. Destiny was getting her rest from the ordeal a few days ago with W.E.E. and Jacob was keeping an eye on her as always. She spotted Yori either training or heading out to lunch with Ron and she hasn't the slightest clue on how that even came to be. Then it got Bonnie's mind wandering again about her own love life or lack thereof.

Bonnie opened the door to her room and closed it behind her, locking it to gather her thoughts. She removed the towel and tossed it into her clothes hamper and she sat on her bed before letting out a sigh and laying back on her bed. She thought about her last conversation with Kim after she had to rid the redhead of her unwanted guests, constantly barraging her with questions about what happened on her last mission. All Bonnie could think about was the moment when the room cleared and when she looked back to see Kim looking at her. The look she saw was one of relief, that she was happy the other soldiers left, and grateful that Bonnie was still there with her. Bonnie remembered not having anything to say, her heart pounding in her chest. She wished Kim would say something and it was if Kim wanted Bonnie to be the first to speak between them. She remembered how Kim looked that day as it was only a few days ago. Her hair was unkempt and though Bonnie could see the tired expression on her face, but her green eyes seemed to have a shine to them and Bonnie was almost lost looking in them.

She blushed when she caught herself staring at Kim and the redhead only smiled in return. Bonnie remembered walking over to one of Kim's dressers and grabbing a brush. She could feel the redhead staring at her the whole time and confirming it once she turned to face the younger woman. She remembered the smile that grew on the redhead's tired face as she walked over to her. Bonnie remembered the smell of Kim's hair which smelled of strawberries from being washed the day before. The two women just talked as Bonnie took her time brushing Kim's hair. An act that would have taken 20 minutes at most turned into two hours as Bonnie would slowly and carefully brush the locks out as if she was handling the most fragile object in the world. They conversed about a lot of things in those two hours. Comparing their childhood and early school life, to places they've been and events they've attended. Bonnie remembered telling Kim about how she climbed through the ranks to become Staff Sergeant and how she had dreams of becoming a lieutenant like Destiny and Jacob. Bonnie remembered learning about Kim's hopes to accomplish by joining the force.

Bonnie opened her eyes as she sat back up, she needed to shower and get dressed. Kim made her promise that she'd be back today to start binge watching a show they both expressed interest in. She let out a small chuckle as she gathered her towels. Never did she think she would be hanging around a first year, let alone Kim. It wasn't a mystery to why she tolerated the red head as she would put it. Kim reminded her of herself, the version of herself before she lost everything. The version of herself that she could have become. Ever since Kim came to the force she often wondered what her life would be like if she and her family stayed at home that day. She would be a famous fashion model, her sisters would be famous clothes designers. They would all be happy, they would all be alive.

Bonnie twisted the knob and the shower came to life. She looked at herself in the mirror and sometimes she didn't even recognize herself. The person she used to be died along with her parents back in 1998. Bonnie sighed, now was not the time for negative thoughts to cloud her mind, she could do that some other time. She removed her clothing and exhaled as she stepped into the shower.

Kim sat up in her bed as she rubbed her eyes. She had slept another day away. She looked around her room. It was dimly lit and she figured she'd brighten up the room by letting in some light. She reached for her curtain when she heard the sound of shuffling. She looked back towards the door to her room. She could hear people arguing but she couldn't make out the voices but it sounded like a fight and it was getting aggressive very quickly. Kim turned to get out of bed when she heard someone scream and the sound of a body crumpling to the floor outside her door.

Kim paused, maybe it was Bonnie keeping yelling at the first years again as they tried to harass her. The only strange bit was that even though it was apparent someone was outside her door, she couldn't make out who it was exactly. After the sound of the body hitting the floor everything went quiet. Kim stared at the door as an unsettling sensation washed over her.

"Hello?" Kim said as she took one step forward.

Suddenly there was a pounding at the door. The sound came so quickly and unexpectedly that it made Kim jump back in surprise. The sound came again as something or someone seemed to be throwing themselves at the door. Kim began to panic and she clenched her fists to try and stop the trembling.

"I said who's there!?" Kim shouted trying to sound as intimidating as possible.

The pounding at the door stopped and it grew quiet once more. Kim felt herself calming down as she felt whoever it was had given up on trying to get in her room. Kim exhaled her hand going to her chest to feel her rapid heartbeat beginning to slow back to normal. Suddenly the door exploded inward swinging into her room, the top of it coming off its hinges causing it to hang inward towards the room. Kim's attention focused on the figure that stood in her doorway. The figure was feminine and clad in a white kevlar jumpsuit and she had long black hair and piercing blue eyes.

"You?" Kim said almost in a whisper as if the words were struggling to escape her lips.

The woman stepped over the body beneath her feet and entered the room not taking her gaze off of Kim. Kim in return tried to take a step back but forgot her bed was behind her and ended up falling onto it.

"I heard you survived, I'm here to correct that." Yin said as she stepped closer, her hand going back to retrieve her sword from her sheath. The sound of the blade scraping against the sheath as it was being removed.

"Stay…" Kim tried to warn her but Yin moved with blinding speed and grabbed her. Yin's left hand covering Kim's mouth.

The ninja shushed the red head as she lowered the blade. Kim felt the cold steel kiss her skin as Yin placed the blade against her neck. Kim tried to struggle but Yin had her pinned as she was on top of her and Kim's upper half was pressed against the wall right next to her window.

"Try not to move around so much. I want to make a clean cut." Yin said.

Kim's eyes went wide when she saw Yin's smile slowly creep across her face. Kim shook her head pleading through muffled cries with Yin. Yin licked her lips as she tightened her grip on the hilt of her blade. Tears ran down her cheeks and stained Yin's gloves as she continued to fight. She felt Yin's grip on her tighten before feeling the blade move away from her. The last thing Kim saw before everything went dark was a dark red liquid that splashed across Yin's face.

Kim sat up quick with a scream, she looked around her room to see it was dim with a faint trace of light coming from between her blinds in the window next to her bed. Her heart was beating fast in her chest. Her hand went up to her chest and she could feel the rhythmic beating of it as it slowed down as she realized she was having a nightmare. That was the last time she watched A Nightmare on Elm Street before bed she thought. She raised her hand to her head as it felt damp and found that she was sweating.

In her defense she just had her throat slit and was struggling for her life in the process. After calming down a bit she got out of bed slowly and stretched. Her abdomen aching as she did so in protest of her movements. She remembered that her and Bonnie were going to be watching a little TV. The were going to watch Stranger Things as the series Kim was originally supposed to binge the series with Ron last year but it had been put off constantly and the second season was set to air this year in October. So she figured she watched it with Bonnie as she expressed interest in it the day before.

Kim walked into the bathroom and raised her shirt exposing the gauze wrapping underneath that concealed her scar. She remembered it being described looking like a hand reaching for her navel and she was told how to shower with the dressing around her torso so she could avoid soaking her second degree burn in water as it was still healing. It was gonna be a long process. Two weeks to a month she remembered hearing the doctors say. That was a lot of progress she would lose in the force. She tried doing shit ups and instantly regretted that decision.

Kim wasn't the type of a person to just sit around. Stagnation frustrated her. She needed to be doing something, moving around not sitting on her butt like some unread book on a shelf collecting dust. A month of this sounded like an eternity to the redhead and she exhaled as she looked herself over in the mirror. She started the shower and waited for the water to warm up before getting in and showered. She did her best not to get the dressing around her scar wet and it was a majority of success as streams of water ran trails down her body towards her scar. She slowly stepped out and started getting dressed and wore a green crop top with blue jeans when she heard a knock at the door.

"It's open!" Kim said as she glanced in the direction of the knocking.

She heard the sound of the door opening and she saw Bonnie enter the room. Bonnie was wearing a white North Face halter top with black a hem with black pants. Kim stared at her through the reflection of the mirror and she noticed the shirt and pants Bonnie wore hugged her physique. Her halter top left her midriff and arms exposed and Kim could see how toned her body was. Kim also noticed a gloss to the tanned woman's body which most likely came from a body oil she had applied.

Bonnie craned her eyebrow as Kim continued to stare at her. "Take a picture, it'll last longer." Bonnie said, placing her hands on her hips.

"Sorry." Kim said as she went back to combing her hair out. "I'm just used to you being in uniform. I didn't think you could dress so…" Kim said as she was trying to find the right word.

Bonnie folded her arms doing her best to visibly show that she wanted Kim to stop talking. Kim, seeing the look on Bonnie's face, laughed nervously.

"I'll stop talking now." She said as she finished combing her hair. "You look good though, like really good." Kim did manage to add.

Bonnie shook her head and sat down. "You act like you've never seen a woman dressed in casual wear before."

Kim shook her head as she walked into the small kitchen area the soldiers are provided in their rooms, she reached into a cubbard and grabbed a bowl and a bag of popcorn.

"No, I just thought you'd wear something more tomboyish." Kim answered honestly.

Bonnie rolled her eyes even though Kim could not see the gesture. "Get serious Possible. Do I really look like a tomboy?" Bonnie asked.

Kim peeked her head around the corner as she took in Bonnie's appearance again. "Kinda." She replied using her index and thumb to get her point across.

"Ha ha." Bonnie said dryly. "Keep it up and I'll add some extra brushes to go with the ones you already have."

Kim placed the popcorn bag in the microwave and pressed three buttons as the microwave came to life and began to heat up the kernels inside. Kim turned her attention back to Bonnie as she slowly leaned up against the wall so the soldier could see her.

"See that tough girl exterior you put on doesn't help your image either." Kim added.

"It's not an act first year." Bonnie said.

"Oh I know." Kim smirked as she pointed to her cheek that Bonnie had bruised a week prior to her most recent injury.

Bonnie softened a bit as she remembered her sparring match against Kim. At the time she thought herself superior to the red head because she knocked the younger woman on her rear, but Bonnie knew it was a cheap shot and when she thought about it, it did not sit well with her.

"How bad does it hurt? The burn I mean?" Bonnie asked.

"Almost everything I do causes me pain. The doctors told would be best to stay still for now but I can't sit still for long you know. I have to get up, move around and do stuff."

Bonnie nodded as she understood. She was the same way. Staying busy is how she forgot that she was an orphan. That she didn't have a family to go home to. Bonnie wondered what she'd do after the force when there were no more distractions to keep her mind busy.

The microwave beeped signaling that the popcorn was ready. Kim slowly moved off the wall and Bonnie moved to get up instead so the red head didn't have to strain her body. Kim saw Bonnie about to get up and she held out her hand.

"No, let me." Kim told the brunette. "I need to exercise. Every little bit helps."

Kim retreated back into the kitchen to grab the popcorn and Bonnie smiled a bit. She was right in her assumption that Kim was her. A version of her she could have been. The reason she was irked and yet fascinated with her, though she wouldn't admit that last bit out loud. Bonnie raised her hand to her chest and she recalled her feelings. Her newfound feelings for Shego and Kim. Bonnie believed she could understand how she could have ended up subconsciously feeling the way she does about the red head, but what of Shego? All she did was make flirtatious remarks and Bonnie wasn't sure if Shego was serious about the things she's said. Besides, she hasn't seen Shego since her return, so she'd cross that bridge when she got to it. Right now she would focus her attention on Kim. There was something she needed to confirm.

"You ready?" Kim asked, gaining Bonnie's attention.

Bonnie nodded and Kim merely smiled as she sat next to Bonnie on the couch. The brunette noted how close the redhead sat to her. She wasn't so close that it was invading Bonnie's personal space. However she wasn't far enough that Bonnie couldn't reach out and stroke her face either. Bonnie wondered why that particular thought of stroking Kim entered her head as she thought about the space between them. Now that she was sitting closer to her she was able to examine her features closely. The red head was paying her no mind as she navigated Netflix to search for their show to binge. She once again noticed the life in those green orbs of hers. That despite being bedridden for the time being her fire had not been extinguished.

The way she had her hair styled which allowed her hair to frame the sides of her face made her features pop. From her eyes to her lips, which Bonnie noticed were lightly glosses making them shine some in the light of the room. Bonnie found herself staring at how full they looked, they looked fuller than the day before when she was brushing Kim's hair and found herself focused on Kim's lips as they conversed.

Bonnie found herself broken from her trance by Kim snapping her fingers in her face.

"Earth to Bonnie, anybody home?" Kim asked.

"Sorry." Bonnie said quickly. "I was thinking about something."

"Is everything ok? We can wait if there is something you need to do." Kim replied.

Bonnie shook her head. "No, I was just remembering something."

"Bad memory?" Kim asked her attention fully on Bonnie. The brunette could see the focus and intensity in them as she stared at her. Kim was studying Bonnie's face intently waiting on a response from her. Bonnie could also see the sincerity in her eyes as she spoke to the brunette. One couldn't guess that these two nearly wanted to rip each other's head off not that long ago.

Bonnie merely smiled. "No, this was a good one."

Kim returned her smile and then sat back on the couch as she started the first episode for them to watch. Bonnie turned her attention to the TV and she sat back some too as they began their day.

Jade eyes opened to the sound of birds chirping outside of her window. The woman sat up slowly and stretched as she removed the covers from on top of her revealing a green and black sports bra with black sleeping shorts that stopped mid thigh. She ran her hand through her hair brushing it back away from her face before she swung her legs off the bed now sitting on the edge of the bed.

Shego stared off into the distance as she thought about the other day. Hearing that her older sister was now pregnant. She hadn't spoken to Destiny since then letting days go by as she tried to find a new purpose for herself. She hadn't felt like training, she no longer saw a purpose in it.

She reached over to the nightstand and grabbed her phone. The time showed it was 1:30 in the afternoon. Shego sighed as she contemplated going back to sleep. A part of her was still mad at Destiny because she felt led on. She felt like all that time was wasted, why was she even here if the only person she joined the force for wasn't gonna to be able to fight by her side. Her anger quickly subsided when she felt the pangs of guilt ring through her. She acted like an asshole to her sister's situation. She wasn't even sure if she could face Destiny after the fallout especially now that she had no conviction.

Shego got out of bed and walked to the bathroom as she looked herself over in the mirror. The fire in her Jade green eyes had dimmed but not gone out, burning like a dimly lit candle. Shego sighed as she grabbed her toothbrush and toothpaste and proceeded to brush her teeth. She ran the faucet water and rinsed her mouth and spat into the sink. Her mind wandered, she thought about if there was anyone else compatible with her. She thought of Yori and Bonnie and Yori was closer to her in skill. She's sparred with Yori before so she has a good understanding of the asian woman's capabilities.

However they never communicated much since Yori was mute until recently. Shego still didn't know why Yori had never spoken, but she guessed it had something to do with her friend they ran into. Shego's thoughts drifted to Bonnie. While the brunette was a good fighter she wasn't near Shego's or Yori's level last she checked. However their communication and teamwork were a bit better because they have spent time together and built a bond. Shego hung onto that last word, bond. She grew close to Bonnie a lot closer than she ever intended to. She adored Bonnie. She adored her drive and can do attitude, her willingness to never allow herself to be slowed down or stopped. She enjoyed the time they spent together too, going shopping, watching movies when not in training. Bonnie was the first friend she made when she got into the force.

Betty had allowed her to join at sixteen because it gave Bonnie a directive in life and kept her out of trouble. Before going to the force Bonnie would have best been described as a problem child, she had anger issues and it often came to the surface at the schools she attended back in New York. Things weren't that much better in the foster homes she went to either. She remembered the stories Bonnie told her about some of the homes she went to. Shego was the same way in school but Destiny was around for a bit before she enlisted in the force and made sure Shego mellowed out before she left. Still with all that in common, not even Bonnie was a one hundred percent match with her for the training needed to pilot Kiryu. Besides Shego didn't want to involve Bonnie in the battle Shego herself wasn't completely sure she'd be walking away from.

Shego found herself thinking about a time she and Bonnie went shopping for summer outfits. They were two years into the force and all she could think about was how good Bonnie looked. Shego had seen Bonnie show some skin but she wasn't really paying her that much attention because she was usually training when they would be in the gym together. That day though in the mall her attention was fully on Bonnie. The way certain outfits hugged her curves, the toned look of her body. The way some of the outfits made certain parts of her look even more voluptuous. Even before Bonnie Shego knew she was into women. She knew since highschool back when she had gone to study with a classmate for a group project and she woke up the next morning in bed with her classmate. Shego was confident in many things but her sexuality not so much.

She tried her best to keep that side of her hidden, though it would slip through the cracks now and then. She had plans for a one night stand in San Francisco after paying her respects to her parents, it was something she always did when they came into town as a way to get her mind off of that day but she had counted on Destiny inviting Kim and her friend Ron. Shego found herself comparing Kim to Bonnie and Yori. Through their very brief sparring match she could see that the younger woman has been practicing her martial arts. She was a bit more practiced in CQC than Bonnie but not as advanced as she saw Yori display. Still with some work there is a chance she could show some promise. That was the vibe Destiny and Jacob gave as they spoke of her when they all watched them scour the obstacle course.

Shego soon realized something important regarding the red head. She rushed out of the bathroom and grabbed a pair of pants and quickly put them on. She opened her door and slammed it behind her in a hurry as she charged down the hall.

Three hours had passed since Bonnie had arrived and they were fifteen minutes into the fourth episode of Stranger Things and Kim was enjoying the season as well as her time with Bonnie. She noticed that they had similar opinions in regards to the show. However that was not all she noticed as there were a few times she caught Bonnie staring at her and when the brunette thought Kim would look her way, she'd turn her head back towards the TV. It made Kim smile at how the staff sergeant was acting.

She reached down for the bowl of popcorn that Bonnie had offered to refill. However instead of feeling the popcorn she felt Bonnie's hand. She looked over to her right to see Bonnie looking back at her with a craned eyebrow. Kim smiled sheepishly and Bonnie formed a small smile of her own in hopes of quelling any awkward tension even though on the inside she was feeling anything but awkward.

"You know I'm surprised you actually agreed to be here with me today." Kim said, speaking up.

She watched as Bonnie looked back at her. The brunette's eyes studied her but her mouth was not moving as she showed no sign of giving an immediate reply.

"I thought you hated me." Kim said. Her eyes drifted away from Bonnie as she recalled their many altercations and arguments.

Bonnie sighed. " I don't hate you first year." Bonnie said to her, making Kim look back in her direction.

"Then why are you here? If you don't mind me asking." Kim questioned.

Before Bonnie could answer there was a knock on Kim's door.

Kim held up her index finger signaling to Bonnie to hold on to her thought. "Who is it?" Kim asked.

"Yo KP, you're awake!" The voice said revealing the person on the door to be Ron.

Bonnie's brow furrowed a bit. "Did you invite him?"

Kim shook her head letting Bonnie know she did not tell the blonde what she was going to be up to today. However she couldn't just leave him out there standing in the hall.

"The door is open Ron, come in." She told him.

Ron opened the door and stepped in. "I just wanted to check on you and see how you were feeling.." Ron started but stopped when he saw Bonnie sitting on the couch next to Kim.

"Uhhhh." The blonde said as he pointed at Bonnie.

"Watch where you point that finger Stoppable. I bite." Bonnie said with a dark grin.

Kim held in a laugh and quickly composed herself. "So what's the sitch?" Kim asked her best friend.

"I was uhh, just stopping by to see how you were doing. Didn't know you and Bonnie were hanging out now?" He said with a confused look.

"Well I needed someone to finally watch Stranger Things with." Kim shrugged nonchalantly

Ron turned and look at the TV to see they were indeed watching the TV series he and Kim was supposed to binge together and his jaw dropped.

"Oh come on!" Ron said the dismay was apparent in his voice. "This was supposed to be our thing!" Ron said gesturing between himself and the redhead.

I'm sorry Ron, but something always seems to come up when we're supposed to watch it." Kim offered as her response.

"That I get but you replace me with her? Why is she even here?" Ron asked as she gestured to the brunette who scowled at him as her response.

Kim shrugged again. "She likes the show too so I asked her to watch it with me."

"And she agreed? What is she getting out of this?" Ron asked.

"Apparently not peace of mind." Bonnie said with an annoyed expression.

"Ron, come on, be reasonable. I needed someone to watch the show with and you were busy. I mean are you able to watch it now?" Kim asked him.

Ron laughed nervously as he rubbed the back of his head. "I kinda made plans with Yori today." He said, giving Kim a sheepish look. "We're going out for lunch."

"See what I mean?" Kim replied as she folded her arms.

"Ok, you win." Ron conceded. "I'll stop by later, if Bonnie hasn't eaten by then." To which the brunette rolled her eyes.

"Lock the door on your way out. I don't want any of those nuisances getting in here." Bonnie spoke up, referring to the other soldiers who tried to get Kim to spill the tea on her mission to Monster Island.

Ron walked to the door and opened it. He looked back to see the two women staring at him. He took notice of how close the two were sitting on the couch, the only thing between them being the large bowl of popcorn. He gave Kim a curious look who craned her eyebrow in response, her expression almost seeming to be annoyed.

"Just go!" Bonnie shouted as she threw a pillow from the couch at the blonde.

Ron yelped as he quickly exited the room, shutting the door behind him but not forgetting to lock it as the pillow crashed against it. Bonnie let out a frustrated sigh as she sat back on the couch using her fingers to rub her temples.

"He's like an over attentive boyfriend or something." Bonnie said.

"Who Ron? No ew, that would be just Awk-weird." Kim said.

"One 'awk-weird', never say it again. Two you mean to tell me you two have never dated?" Bonnie asked.

"No!" Kim Answered with an incredulous look. "He's like a brother to me. We go way back like preschool."

"Could have fooled me. The way he follows you around the base screams beta male." Bonnie said.

"Again Ew. That's not a line I'm gonna cross." Kim told Bonnie. "Besides I already had my heart broken by a boy before. I don't want to ever experience that again." Kim said.

Bonnie looked at Kim to see her expression sadden a bit. Bonnie wanted to reach out and grab Kim's hand but she held back the urge.

"What happened?" Bonnie asked.

Kim looked to see Bonnie staring directly at her. Her expression was neutral but Kim could tell by the way her eyes focused on her that there was sincerity in her question. Bonnie looked away putting on an air trying to appear dismissive.

"You don't have to tell me if you don't want to." She said, appearing to let the TV grab her attention.

Kim smiled a bit because she knew Bonnie was putting on her tough girl act again because Kim paused Netflix when Ron came in. Kim felt like she could trust Bonnie with this story. She took a breath and exhaled. Here goes nothing she thought.

"Ok it was junior year at Middleton High, that's the highschool I attended. There was this boy his name was Eric. I forget his last name. Anyway I was crushing on him hard, like hard hard." Kim said as she emphasized on how big her crush was. "Long story short we finally ended up talking and next thing I knew we were dating. He was really sweet to me, like the perfect gentleman. Opened doors, great conversation, funny and of course he was easy on the eyes." Kim continued to explain. "The one thing was though he was always 'handsy'." Kim said for lack of a better term. "Like I was fine with kissing and sometimes a little touching. He would push to go further and I turned him down so many times until one day I didn't. I was afraid that he'd leave me if I didn't, that he'd find someone else. Find interest in someone else. I convinced myself that he'd love me afterwards. After all that's what people do when they have sex right? The love deepens. That's what I thought."

Bonnie noticed that Kim had clenched her fists. She looked back up at the redhead when she heard her sniffling. "After I finally gave in, he stopped returning my calls, he avoided me and then I started hearing rumors. You see my family motto is anything is possible for a possible, it's what my family says when things are looking low for us, or if we need a quick pick me up. Eric took it and turned it into something heinous. He made me look like I was stalking him, had his friends say they all had their "turns" with me." Kim told Bonnie. Bonnie watched as the tears began to run down her cheeks. "My reputation was ruined. I quit the cheerleading squad that I was captain of, started missing school, lost a lot of good friends. I felt like my life was over before it even began."

Bonnie was about to reach out for Kim but she stopped herself once again. She wasn't sure why but it was like she was unsure if it was the appropriate gesture. Bonnie was fighting against herself. Against the staff sergeant persona she had worked so hard to build.

"Well obviously you didn't drop out. The force wouldn't have allowed you to join if that was the case and I've only seen Betty make one exception in that regard." Bonnie stated.

Kim nodded as she wiped the tears from her eyes. "I finished highschool and got my diploma. Only because someone reached out to me. Don't get me wrong I still had Ron and a few friends who knew the rumors weren't true. But there was this girl on the cheerleading team. Her name is Tara. She comforted me when the others couldn't because she understood my pain. She told me she's been there. She helped me focus and tried to keep the negativity away from me and when he got to be too much she shielded me. I was able to get my grades together, maintain what relationships I had with my friends because of her. I was able to graduate because she had been there for me."

"You keep talking about her in the past tense. If she's such a good friend I can't imagine you guys drifting apart after going through all of that." Bonnie said as she studied Kim's face. The red head smirked a bit, mostly likely recalling a fond memory.

"It was after graduation." Kim started. "My parents threw a big celebration and of course invited as many people as they could or would come. Of course Tara was there, she was the first person there. She beat Ron to the party." Kim said with a chuckle. "I don't remember much beyond having some good laughs because of the bomb she dropped on me that evening." She told Bonnie and she watched the redhead tense up again. "Tara was leaving. "Tonight will be my last night in Middleton" she told me. I was devastated. I was losing arguably the most important person in my life. When the sun rose the next morning she would be gone and I'd be empty again. She didn't want to leave but her dad had got a promotion that required the family to move down to Florida. Then Tara did something I didn't expect. She told me there was something she needed to tell me before she left, I had never seen such a serious yet unconfident look on her face before. She took several deep breaths. I could tell whatever it was had turned her into a nervous wreck. I remember grabbing her hands in mine and telling her that it would be ok, she could tell me because of everything we had been through together. Then the next thing I knew she was kissing me." Kim paused.

She wanted to see Bonnie's expression and the look on her face was exactly what she pictured. Bonnie was wide eyed. Did Kim like girls? If so why was she telling her all this? She merely asked about her experience with boys. Could Kim somehow tell that Bonnie was conflicted about her own feelings? The brunette snapped back into reality when she realized Kim was waiting for her response to gauge where Bonnie's head was at.

"I'm sorry that was just….so unexpected. How…did you react?" Bonnie asked a question more so for herself.

"You're right it was a complete shocker. It was like that one kiss brought everything I was keeping pushed down for Tara to the surface. It didn't feel wrong or bad or weird. It felt normal, more than normal. It felt better than when Eric kissed me. I don't know what it was about it, maybe it was because Tara actually cared about me. Maybe it was because when I was with her and felt like myself again. All I knew was that in that moment everything felt so clear, more clearer than life had ever been for me. Tara herself began to explain her feelings for me and that she understood if I didn't feel the same but I did." Kim said, her smile returning. "I told her to shut up and kiss me. We spent the rest of the night up in my room. That was May, 2013 and 4 years have passed, that's how long she's been gone." Kim finished.

"So you guys don't keep in touch?" Bonnie asked.

Kim nodded. "We do, but she's busy working with her dad's company. I hear he's CEO now so I can only imagine what her days are like. We talk when we can but I don't think it'll be like it was. Too much time has gone by. We haven't talked about it since. Maybe it's easier that way you know? To make being so far apart not so hard." Kim said as she ran her left hand through her hair.

Bonnie stared at Kim. She thought about her position and everything she's been feeling up until this very moment. Bonnie could feel herself being pulled in two directions. The one part of her telling her to explore this new feeling and see where it leads and then the other side telling her to get her act together, and act accordingly. She looked at Kim to see that the redhead was staring off towards the TV. Bonnie took in her appearance once again and she could see why her friend Tara found her attractive. Kim was more than easy on the eyes, she was beautiful and Bonnie had no problem admitting that to herself. Even now she found herself fixated on Kim and it was so much so that Kim noticed it too.

"I can take a picture if you want it'll last longer." Kim said, throwing Bonnie's statement from earlier back at her.

Bonnie let out a snicker. "Careful Possible looks like I'm rubbing off on you. I may have to sue you for defamation if you keep this up." Bonnie joked.

Kim laughed in return. The thought of Ron's reaction to her becoming like Bonnie made her laugh a bit harder. However Kim's injury wasn't in agreement and the redhead doubled over in pain, her laughter turning into groans of pain. Bonnie closed the small gap between them on the couch ignoring the bowl of popcorn and causing it to spill on the couch. Her left arm went to Kim's back while her right helped brace the redhead and ease her back up.

"I'm fine, I just laughed a bit too hard." Kim told her.

"You sure?" Bonnie asked. "I don't want anything happening to you on my watch is all."

Kim merely nodded as she coughed a bit. As she sat back up some she turned to face Bonnie to see that she was a lot closer. "Bonnie." Kim started. "You never did tell me why you decided to be here today."

Bonnie pushed some of her hair behind her ear. "Why does it matter?" Bonnie asked, trying to deflect the topic.

"Because I want to know. I want to trust you. I'd hate to let you in just to be hurt again." Kim replied.

"You seriously think I'd go through all this effort, risk being seen with you and jeopardize my reputation just to sucker punch you?" Bonnie asked. Her eyes searched the redhead for a response trying to read Kim's body language.

Kim shrugged. "I'd hope not. Like I said earlier I thought you hated me."

"And like I said earlier I don't hate you. Not completely." Bonnie added.

"Oh." Was Kim's response.

Bonnie let out a sigh. She leaned back into the couch. "Look, you told me your story in confidence so this doesn't leave the room. I find out you told anyone what I'm about to say I will murder you. Understood?" Bonnie asked.

Kim nodded showing that she understood what Bonnie was about to tell her. "When you first got here, yes, I couldn't stand you. You were loud, boisterous and annoying. You got here and you broke records, making it seem like the things we achieved…" Bonnie paused. "What I achieved wasn't so great. I worked hard to get here. Seven years of hard work Kim I've put in and you've been here what barely two months and you have Betty considering you for compatibility training. You infuriated me because you come from a different background than I do. You still have your family. Your mother, your father, siblings." Bonnie said. " You…you remind me of what I think I'd be like if I hadn't lost it all." Bonnie told her.

Now it was Kim's turn to stare wide eyed. She reminded Bonnie of herself? Kim thought back to their sparring session and the things she said back then. Back when she thought she was beginning to understand a little about the brunette.

"So here I am. Sitting here with you because I want to know even for the tiniest but what my life was supposed to be like. What it is I'm missing out on." Bonnie finished.

"Bonnie…" Kim said almost in a whisper. "I…I don't know what to say. Is it weird to say that I kinda saw a piece of me in you?"

"What are you getting at?" Bonnie wondered.

"You once told me that I don't understand your pain. Well I tried. I tried to picture myself in your shoes." Kim admitted.

"And?" The brunette responded.

"It hurt…. alot." Kim told her. "I could feel this loneliness creeping up on me. It made me feel uncomfortable. Is that how it is for you?"

"That's the top of the iceberg. It's more like trying to keep your head above water as the room continuously fills to the top threatening to take you under at any moment." Bonnie told her.

The two women stared at each other before Bonnie felt Kim take her hands in her own. "I know you have Shego and the others but if you have room for one more person maybe…"

"I can let you in, is that it?" Bonnie finished.

Kim gave her a reassuring smile showing that is what she's hoping. "There you go, making it seem like it's just that simple. When it's far from it." Bonnie said, her voice sounding a bit irritated.

"I don't expect it to be, but I do know how much it helps to have someone by your side. Like Tara was for me." The redhead responded.

Bonnie scoffed a bit. "I suppose this is the part where you kiss me?"

"What? No?" Kim replied. "Is that what you think?"

"I don't know you tell me. Is this what all of this is?" Bonnie asked as she grew defensive. She herself doesn't know where this outburst came from. "It would explain why you were eyeing me when I came in."

"And what about you? You were staring so hard at me I thought you'd burn a hole through my head." Kim told the brunette. "Every time you thought I'd catch you staring you'd look away. So if anything you should tell me what's going on."

Kim was confused, everything was just fine and the redhead didn't feel like she crossed a line. Still this moment felt familiar to her like she had been here before. It didn't take Kim long to remember. Back when Tara first reached out to her she rebuffed her. However Tara was persistent, she kept reaching for Kim and she figured maybe that's what Bonnie was doing. Just like Kim was scared of being hurt by letting someone new in, maybe Bonnie was too and this was how she was showing it. Even still Bonnie didn't take her hands out from Kim's.

The redhead squeezed Bonnie's hands a bit, taking note of how soft and smooth they were. For someone as fierce as Bonnie her hands felt delicate. "I invited you here because I needed someone to watch Stranger Things with. I shared my past with you because I trust you. I didn't tell you all of that to get in your pants. Yes, I like women and yes you are beautiful but that is not my end goal." Kim said as she looked Bonnie in her eyes with the most serious expression.

"I've shared now if you have anything to tell me, anything you think I should know, you can tell me. What is said here today will never leave this room." Kim said reassuringly, her grip tightening a bit on Bonnie's hands.

Bonnie looked at Kim and thought about it. Could Bonnie tell Kim about her newfound struggle? Should she? Bonnie found Kim attractive and clearly Kim thought she was too but was this the time and place? She came here for a multitude of reasons. Sure one was to watch the Netflix series with the redhead but the other was to see how to gauge her new found emotional state. Now that she was here and in this moment she didn't know what to do, what to say. The woman before her that Bonnie spent months torturing, making her feel less than was comforting her.

In the short time she's come to know Kim, Bonnie figured it was part of the redhead's personality. Bonnie bit her lip in contemplation. Did she say what was on her mind? The brunette shook her head showing she had nothing else to say. Kim's small smile grew a bit more, she knew Bonyhad something else on her mind especially if her sudden outburst was any indication of something grander at play. Bonnie was still an enigma to Kim, She spent two months berating her and trying to make her feel small only to show that there was someone underneath her hard exterior. Kim's curiosity was triggered and she wanted to know more about Bonnie. This would be their third full conversation in which they got to know each other a little better.

Kim wondered why Bonnie came to see her the day after she came back from Japan. Now she knew why, the brunette saw herself in Kim. It made the redhead feel kind of special to be thought of that way. Whatever it was Bonnie was keeping to herself, Kim was sure Bonnie would tell her when she felt the time was right. After all Tara had patience with her when she worked hard to break Kim out of her shell so Kim could do the same, after all she understood how delicate a situation like this tended to be.

Kim moved to embrace Bonnie wrapping the brunette in a hug and catching the staff sergeant off guard. Bonnie wasn't expecting Kim to hug her. She went the gentle caress of Kim's hands as she rubbed Bonnie's back and then soft whisper of Kim's voice as she told Bonnie she was here for her if she needed to talk about anything. Bonnie relaxed no longer tense from Kim's actions. She felt her arms raise as she returned Kim's embrace and silently thanked the girl. Feeling that the embrace went on for long enough Kim relaxed her hold on Bonnie and moved to give the brunette her space back. However Bonnie didn't let go of her, she held onto Kim for just a bit longer and only let go when she realized that Kim had relinquished her hold on her.

Bonnie sat back some but both women were still in close proximity to one another. Bonnie brushed her hair back behind her ear again. "Sorry." The brunette said looking down embarrassed.

"Don't be." Kim told her as Bonnie looked back up at her again.

"So what now Possible? Do we continue where we left off or should I just leave?" Bonnie asked, feeling like she made the situation a bit awkward between them.

Kim shook her head and in another fast motion her right hand reached and landed on top of Bonnie's left hand. Even though the motion was fast the touch was soft like a feather. "No, don't go. Stay."

Bonnie felt the blood flood her cheeks as she blushed. "Are you sure?" She asked the red head looking down to see Kim's hand still on hers.

Kim followed Bonnie's eyes and noticed her action though done subconsciously. She moved her hand and nodded showing that she indeed wanted Bonnie to stay though now she felt embarrassed for what may have been an overstep in boundaries.

Bonnie reached out for Kim's right hand with her left and she found herself caressing the redhead's soft hand with her own. Stroking the back of Kim's hand with her thumb while her fingers gently curled around Kim's hand. Both women looked up from their hands to each other and smiled a reassuring smile to the other. Teal eyes peered into Olive eyes and vice versa. Their smiles faded as they ceased to break eye contact, both women searching for something in the face of the other. Bonnie could see Kim coming closer, and Kim could see the same from Bonnie. Time seemed to slow down around them, and the sounds of the outside world went quiet. The only thing they could hear was a loud thumping sound.

The thumping sound grew louder as they closed the distance to the point they could feel each other's breath graze across the other.

"Bonnie what are.." Kim started before Bonnie cut her off.

"Just shut up and…" Bonnie was about to finish as their lips were mere inches away from the other.

Suddenly there was a loud and hard knock at Kim's door. The sound made the two women jump. The distance being put back between them again. They stared at each other sheepishly not knowing what to say to the other. The knock at the door came harder and faster than the last.

"Kim, are you in there? It's important." A voice said.

"Shego?" Bonnie questioned. "Why is she here?" She asked Kim.

The red head shrugged. "I don't know. Guess we better go see before she knocks my door down." Kim said, making a joke to ease the tension.

Bonnie merely nodded as she watched the redhead go to the door. Bonnie mentally cursed herself. She got up to follow Kim. What was she thinking? She almost kissed Kim. She knew what she was thinking, absolutely nothing that's what. She let herself get caught up in the heat of the moment and let her cluttered and confused emotions get the better of her and almost make the biggest mistake of her career. As she stopped behind Kim to see what Shego wanted one more thought flowed through her head. Was Kim going to let Bonnie kiss her? She could have sworn she saw Kim leaning in for it as well. Was she Kim caught in the moment too or was she trying to capitalize on the situation?

Kim opened the door as Shego knocked harder once more. The door swung open as Shego was mid knock.

"How can I help you?" Kim asked.

"Took you long enough, what were you doing in.." Shego paused when she realized that Bonnie was standing behind her. She wasn't expecting to see her here, the apparent shock on her face was replaced with a sly grin when she saw Bonnie's attempt at a neutral expression as the brunette folded her arms. "Am I interrupting something?"

"Yes." Bonnie replied while Kim replied.

"No." With a small head shake.

They replied simultaneously, making them glance at each other before back at Shego to see what the woman wanted.

"Ooook." Shego said. "Actually this works out that you're here Bonnie."

"How so?" Bonnie wondered with a craned eyebrow.

"Shego what is going on?" Kim asked.

"It's your dad." Shego started.

"My dad? What's wrong, is he ok?" Kim asked cutting Shego off. She was ready to burst into the hall.

Seeing this Shego out her hand to Kim to halt her movement. "He's fine but you won't be."

Seeing the confusion on both women's faces, Shego just got to the point of her visit. " Since your injury your dad has been rattled. He plans to pull you from the force this coming Friday."

"What?" Kim said. The word escaping her lips barely above a whisper. Her eyes wide with shock as Bonnie shared the same expression.

Any thoughts the women were having about their previous moment just came to an immediate halt as there was now a more pressing matter that needed to be addressed.
