Chapter 23: The Finale Battle
Part 2: War in the Streets.
"Um… guys," Daxter said jumping up to Jak's shoulder, "We should get out of here." Jak nodded picking Keira up and ran for the stairs.
Keira's chair had been knocked over and seemly kicked down the hall at least that what they thought must have happened when they saw the papers that had been in the pouch on the floor. Daxter picked them up while Jak put Keira in the chair, Keira looked up him, "We need to get out of here. I don't think it's safe to stay." Jak nodded as Daxter once again jumped back up to his shoulder. He ran down the hall, Keira wheeling herself behind him.
They stepped outside and into the beginnings of chaos, alarms were blaring as a robotic voice told everyone to stay indoors. Jak pulled out his gun as some soldiers rushed pass. He loaded a few green crystals into it before looking at Keira, "We need to find where their keeping the slaves and get you out of here." Keira nodded as a military cruiser flew over them, not paying them any mind. "Where do we need to go?"
Keira pulled out the map, "I believe the slaves are kept over here." She pointed to a spot on the south side of the map, just outside the city walls. "Phoenix and the others are coming from this direction." She pointed to the east wall. She looked at Jak, "What should we do?"
Jak looked around as another cruiser fly above them, "We need to get someplace with more cover, we're to exposed out here." Keira stuffed the map back into the pouch. They ran north, away from the from the fight that slowly making its way to them.
Jak broke in the door to a small empty restaurant six blocks away from the offices building. There were some dim lights still on, but no one was there. Keira rolled herself to the nearest booth; she pulled out the map and placed it on the table. "Okay so we're about here." She said, pointing to ruffly their location as Jak sat down, Daxter jumping on to the table, "And we need to get all the way over here." She dragged her finger to where the slaves were.
"And then Jak and I need to get all the way back over here." Daxter said pointing to a cluster of large buildings in the norther part of the city.
Keira sighed, "Once we find a way out of the city, I can get to the slaves myself, you two should go after Skyheed."
Jak shook his head, "No, theirs's no way I'm leaving you until I know your safe."
Keira sighed, knowing that there was no fighting him, "Alright, so how are we going to get out of the city?"
Daxter looked at the map, "We could try the tunnels that are under the city." The two elves looked at him confused. "You remember when I fell, I ended up in a tunnel system. Maybe we can find one that leads out of the city. It didn't look like anyone had been down there in a good long while."
"Or we could end up getting lost." Keira said, "We should stay above ground. At least then we'll-"
"Have a better chase of getting caught." Jak jumped in, "If we use these tunnels, we'll be less likely to be seen, and they have to come out somewhere."
Keira shook her head, folding the map, "If you think that's best. So how do we get down them?"
They found an elevator that took them down into the tunnels, "I forgot how creepy it was down here." Daxter said as they traveled further and further into the tunnel.
Keira jumped and looked behind her when she heard the hurried scuttling of some many legged creatures just behind her. Jak looked back at her, "Are you okay?" he asked.
"I thought I heard something." She said. They heard more scuttling, "Daxter… what's down here."
"Lots of spiders."
Again, more scuttling, Jak's eyes darted to the dark corners hearing the scuttling, "Stay close." He told Keira.
They continued down the path, the scuttling behind them growing louder as if more had come to follow them. Keira dared a looked back and screamed. Jak whipped around seeing the hoard of dog size spiders crawling closer and closer to them. Jak pulled out his gun and shot at them. the crystal impaled itself in the head of one of them and grew to cover the ones closes to it but the rest of the hoard didn't care and simply crawled over them. Jak looked down at Keira and told her to move she did, and he ran beside her.
The tunnels were old, becoming more and more disheveled and broken the further they went. The dark eco crystals being their only source of light and it wasn't very good. They couldn't very well see the peace of wall that had fallen out until they were right on top of it. Keira was moving as face as she could until she came to an abrupt halt, one of the wheel on her chair had gotten caught on a rock and she was thrown out of the chair as it fell forward. She called out to Jak who had unintentional ran ahead of her. He immediately turned around, picked her up and counted to run leaving her chair behind. The spiders crawled over it as if it wasn't there.
Suddenly there was a light growing brighter and brighter at the end of the hall. Jak sprinted for it. It became apartment by the way the light danced on the wall it was a torch, there were people, the three of them hopped it wasn't more soldiers and luck seemed to be on their side because it wasn't the soldiers, it was Castaway with an crowd of people, who immediately pointed their weapons (At least the one's not holding torches) at the three friends, "Wait!" Castaway ordered as Jak came closer and closer, Castaway threw his torch past Jak. It landed on the floor stopping a cluster of spiders who histed at it. But even though there was a feast for them the spiders wouldn't come into the torch light to get them.
"What are you doing down here and who are all these people?" Daxter asked.
"They were slaves. These tunnels were built so they could get to work without anyone seeing them."
One of the former slaves step forward, "These tunnels connect to every part of the city and some passages lead right into some of the more important building. It's the quickest way for us to get to them."
"Ah hun…" Daxter said, "Now what are you guys going to do if the Aeropans come down here?"
Everyone laughed, "Oh my," Castaway said, "they'd get lost if they tried that, the slaves are the only ones who know these tunnels."
"No one but us ever come down here." A unusually thin woman said, or perhaps her close were just too big. "Don't you think that if any of those high and mighty Aeropans came down here these tunnels would be in this bad of shape?"
"How do we get out of here?" Jak asked.
"Why did you even come down here?" someone more towards the back asked.
"I was trying to get her out of here." Jak looked at Castaway, "The generators are down there's no reason for her to say inside the city."
Castaway looked at Keira, "I agree." He turned to the young woman standing next to him, "Lead them out." She nodded and led the group away, one man handing Castaway his torch. "Keep up." He told Jak, "You don't want to be left in dark again."
"Yeah," Daxter started, "What's the deal with these spiders anyways?"
"Chock it up to another bad idea from one of my former colleague. No one likes spiders, so he had the bright idea to make them bigger and to try to train them like dogs to be something else Skyheed could use for war. This was years before we even thought of the Dark Warrior Program. Well making them grow was easy enough but controlling them not so much. Unfortunately, one day I came into the lab to find that a hand full of them had escaped. It wasn't until a few weeks later when the slaves refused to go down the tunnels that we found out where they had gone."
Keira gave him a confused look, "You didn't think to look down here?"
"Oh I did, but my colleague argued that if they were down here we'd never find all of them and the project had proven to be a failed anyways. So once he knew where they had gone, he released the rest of them into the tunnels. I am ashamed to say that I didn't even try to stop him. So many people died but it was the slaves who found out that the spiders were afraid of light. A fact that they kept to themselves for all these years. They started a rumor that the spiders had developed a tasted for the dark eco crystals that have sprung up down here, and that was sufficient enough to keep the Aeropans out."
They reached the end of the tunnel and walked out into a slum, most of the 'houses' seemed half-heartedly put together with whatever could work as building materials. Jak looked back up at wall they had just exited out of and saw smoke rising from above it, he could hear muffled gun fire as well. And was grateful they had not gone through that with Keira. Castaway looked at them "We need to get the other side of town. That's where Mannie's ship is boarding passengers." A loud boom erupted from over the wall someone was firing a canon at the city, Jak carried Keira away from the wall.
The farther they went into the town the more people they saw, neighbors and friends helping each other, small groups of people arguing about who was going to stay and who was going to go. Jak saw one woman trying to drag what he could only assume was her teenage son towards the ship. As they made their way to the ship Jak noticed one thing, these people had nothing, no bags, no belongings, nothing. Ether they were that desperate to get out that they didn't grab any of their personal belongings or they just flat out didn't have any.
Jak could see Mannie's ship and could hear some people yelling over the crowd to head for it, that they would be safe. A small family shoved pass Jak nearly nocking Daxter off his shoulder, a small, dirt covered child, looked back as her father pulled her to the ship. And then the wall behind they exploded. The people all stopped and looked back, the pirates pushing them forward and telling them to keep moving. "Jak." Keira said, getting his attention, "put me down and go help those people." Jak looked at the hole in the wall that the Aeropans were coming through, he noticed that some of them had whips and were attacking the slaves with them. He turned back to look at the ship, it was still a good way off and there was the crowd of people all trying to get on board. "Jak!" Kiera yelled.
"What do you want me to do?!" he yelled at her, "I'm not just going to leave you here."
"You could get hurt or worse!" Daxter yelled.
A curser flew over them flooding the crowd with lights, "This way!" Castaway yelled, Jak followed. He led them to one of the sad looking shakes that past for someone's house.
Jak sat Keira on the floor, she looked up at him, "Look I'll be safe here, now go." She told him.
Jak looked at Castaway who nodded, "I'll stay with her." Jak's worried expression did not change, Castaway chuckled, "I have a few tricks up my sleeve don't you worry."
Jak looked back at Keira, "I'll come back."
Keira nodded, "I know. I love you."
Jak kissed her forehead, "I love you too." He looked at Castaway, "Do whatever you can to protect her."
"I will."
Jak ran out of the shake and charged towards the soldiers who were now shotting at the slave and the pirates that had come to their aid. Jak pulled out his gun and fired, the crystal imbedded itself into the arm of a soldier who screamed, dropping the whip he was holding which was picked up by one of the slaves who clearly had no real idea how to use it and so was randomly whipping around, luck letting him hit an opponent every few lashes. One of the soldiers saw him and pointed his gun at Jak, he quickly put a shield around himself and Daxter, protecting them from the blast, only dropping the shield to fire his own gun, he hit the soldier in the face and ran past as the crystal over took the man head.
They heard a woman scream and turned to see a soldier standing over a young girl, his gun pointing right at her face, Jak charged to her aid, Daxter handing him a crystal from his bag, he quickly loaded it and fired, impaling him in the neck. The man fell, Jak held the girl up and kept her turned away as the crystal grew. She said a quick thanks to Jak before running toward the mob trying to squeeze onto the ship. At least they would have been, had the ship still been there it must have taken off to take the slaves that could fit to safety Jak knew it would be back but the slaves didn't and were now in even more of a panic.
Suddenly Jak felt the snick of a whip on his back and yelled as electricity shot threw his body, the whips were electrified. The sudden shock casing him to drop his gun, Daxter jumped off his shoulder running for it while Jak turned to face the soldier who raided his whip again for another strike, Jak dogged, leaping closer to his attacker. He punched him right in the face casing him to stumble back, Jak threw another punch and another, breaking the armor his opponent was waring. The soldier, having had enough of this when dark, however this was mistake on his part as he immediately cried out in pain and fell to the ground clutching his chest. Jak watched as he gasped for air, his whole body shaking, he collapsed onto the ground but that was all Jak was able to see as he was tackled by another soldier.
He was slammed to the ground hard, the man who had attacked him pining him down. Jak channeled red eco into both his arms and push the soldier off of him. Getting to his feet he slammed his fist into the man's face killing him. another soldier gabbed him from behind, Jak broke free of him and turned to hit him but was quickly shoved back onto the ground, "Jak head's up." Daxter yelled. Jak looked to see that Daxter had the gun and was pointing it at the soldier. Jak got out of the way as Daxter fired, the crystal lodged itself in the man's chest but being that Daxter couldn't channel eco into it, it just sat there as the man screamed in pain. Jak leapt at him, grabbing the crystal and forced eco into it, the man screamed ever louder as the crystal grew Jak released it as the man was torn apart from the inside out.
Jak hurried over to Daxter, picking up his gun as Daxter jumped back up to Jak's shoulder. Then out of the smoke that was rising from inside the city wall, six military cruisers appeared. The slave ran for shelter as they fired down on them. The Aeropans retreated into the city. Then a large ball of dark eco flew acrost the sky and hit one of the cruisers, causing it to crash. Jak looked back, he could see the shake where Keira and Castaway were supposed to be hiding and saw the old sage standing in the doorway, no not standing; Castaway was floating above the ground, Dark eco spiraling around him. It seemed to be flowing into his glove as he flew up to the cruisers. They all turned their guns to fire at him, they either all missed, or he was deflecting them somehow. Jak looked back at the shake and saw Keira laying in the doorway shooting at a group of three soldiers, who were running right for her.
Jak sprinted for them, using yellow eco to project himself faster, Daxter nearly fell off. Jak slammed into one of the soldiers nocking the much larger man to the ground, Jak was shoved off, quickly leaping back to his feet then pulling out his gun. The dark soldier slashed at him, Jak dogged but was attacked by one of the other soldiers who had double back to help his comrade. Jak stumbled back from the soldier hitting him in the jaw. Jak turned his gun on the new soldier and shot him at point blank rang. The crystal embedding itself in his eye and quickly over took his head. Jak then quickly turned to the other one who was charging a dark blast, Jak shot him just as the soldier released his attack they both hit their targets, Jak stumbled back but his shot had done much more damage.
Keira screamed Jak's name, he whipped around to see her being carried away by another soldier. Jak charged after them. He couldn't stop time again to save her. He swapped his gun to the blaster and continued to give chase, Keira was struggling trying to get free but it was no good. The soldier ran behind a line of shakes. As Jak rounded the corner the soldier zoomed past him in a much smaller cruiser. Keira was lock in the back seat; Jak got a glimpse of her hitting the glass as hard as she could trying to break it.
"After them Jak!" Daxter yelled, Jak sprinted after the cruiser once again using yellow eco to rocket himself forward. The cruiser didn't bother to pull up to fly over the wall but instead just drove right through the battel that was now starting to move into the city. Another one of the miliary cruiser exploded just as the cruiser drove through the broken wall. The now falling ship was going to land right over the hole in the wall Jak pushed himself faster, he had to make it into the city, he couldn't lose sight of the cruiser. He just managed to slip in as the cruiser hit the ground. Jak quickly put a shelled around himself to protect him and Daxter from the shrapnel that was now flying everywhere. In the confusion however they lost sight of the cruiser.
Jak pulled out his communicator and called Phoenix, who thankfully picked up, "I'm bit preoccupied at the moment so-"
"A soldier took Keira," Jak cut in, "Where would he have taken her."
"If I had to guess I'd say, right to Skyheed, I have it on good authority that he's in his place at the norther end of the city."
Jak took off running down the street, "Meet me there with your ship." He hung up.
Jak tore through the streets avoiding the bulk of the fight as best he could while making his way north, he couldn't afford to slow down, he didn't know what Skyheed would do with Keira, he had to get their as fast as he could, unfortunately it seemed vehicles in the city were something that was just reserve for the military, there were none in any form of working order that he could take. He had hoped that once he got far enough away from the south wall that he would be out of the fight but that wasn't the case the fight itself was making its way up towards Skyheed's places along with him. So he was forced to fight, "Jak, how are we going to get into the places once we're there?" Daxter asked as Jak ducked into an alley way for some form of cover from the Aeropan soldiers shooting at him. "You know it's going to be heavily guarded."
"We'll figure it out when we get there." Jak said, taking out one of them.
A sewer grate open and two pirates crawled out of it. Jak jumped down the whole as they ran pass into the streets., "What are we doing back down here?" Daxter asked.
Jak saw a few slaves hurrying down the tunnel, he ran to catch up with them. They turned when they heard him coming and pointed their guns at him, they were all women. Jak stopped, "I'm on your side." Jak said, his gun hanging limp at his side as he held up his other empty hand. They lowered their guns, "Do any of these tunnels lead to Skyheed's palaces?" he asked.
"Not this one." One of the women, "But it does lead right to the upper district. Right into some of the bigger houses." Jak knew that look in her eyes all too well.
"Do you know if there is a tunnel that lead into his palace?"
"I do." one of the other women said.
"Can you show me once were there?" She nodded, Jak followed them down the tunnel.
They came out threw a hidden passage in the cellar of a large, and very expensive house, they could hear people running around upstairs, glass shattering, people yelling and screaming. They ran up the stairs, most of the group ran up another flight of stairs while Jak followed the woman who ran out the front door.
The fight hadn't really reached this far into the city, most of the street was quiet and dark. Only muffled scram and the occasional gunshot broke the still air the woman stopped in the middle of the road and pulled up the great revealing a whole. She climbed down into it, Jak followed her.
"Hurry up." She called, already walking down the path. "This tunnels will lead right into the servants passage for the Duke's places." She said as Jak caught up.
"Hey Jak," Daxter stared, "What if Keira's not there?"
"Then we'll find someone who knows where she is and go after her." he stated. Why had he let her come? He knew it was to dangerous, they could have found another way, they should have found another way. Jak sighed, what was done was done and he couldn't change it so the best thing he could do was find Keira and get her out of here.
They reached the end of the passageway, and the woman pulled a torch off the wall, "Hold this." She stated, shoving it into Jak's hand. She dug in her pocket Jak assumed she was looking for a lighter she pulled out a box of matches. She struck one on the side of the box it took a few tries before the match ignited. She held it to the torch lighting it, "Just follow this tunnel. Looked for an old wooden door." She said as she threw the match on the ground and stepped on it, "That your way in, it's never lock so you shouldn't have any problems and if you find any slaves places help them."
"Don't worry, we will." Daxter said, grinning as he gave her a thrums up.
"Good luck." She said as she ran back down the way they had come.
As Jak and Daxter headed down the tunnel they could hear the hissing of the massive spiders as they scuttled away from the light, "You know," Daxter stared, "I would think this tunnel would be crowed. If it really leads right into Skyheed's places and only the slaves use these then this would be the only way to get in undetected."
Jak nodded, "I'm sure the people that Skyheed had enslaved already came through here. At least I'm hoping they did."
Daxter nodded, "If there are angry slaves over running the place then there will be less guards looking for us." Jak nodded.
They found the door hanging wide open. Jak held the torch in front of himself illuminating the dark cellar, he could hear the evidence that the spiders had crept in. The cellar was a maze of wooden shelfs filled with wine and wooden crats, Jak kept the torch as far from these as he could. They heard what sounded like a door being blasted open and then a loud crass as it hit the floor. Jak followed the sound of the fighting that was crapping in threw the door. He turned a corner and could see light filtering threw the wind shelf in front of him. Jak and Daxter peeked threw it just in time to see two men wrestling with each other fall into the cellar. It was too dark for them to tell which one was an Aeropan and which one wasn't. The two watched as a spider crawled out of the darkness, this was the first time Jak had gotten a good look at one of them, it was a dark purple almost black, around the lower half each of its harry legs were three red bands spread out evenly, more spiders crept out of the darkness towards the men. One of them heard them approaching and quickly got up running from the door as one of the spiders pounced on him. The other attacking the man still on the ground. Jak watched as more spired sculled out of the darkness and covered the men, as they screamed. Then Jak smelled smoke he looked at the torched and found that the wood he had been holding it close to had caught fire and had started to eat it away. Jak ran down the hall. Daxter looking back to watch as the fire grew.
They reached the end of the hall, Jak skied around the corner seeing the spiders backing away from the fire as the wine bottles fell to the ground, breaking the flammable liquid inside catching fire, flaying in all directions. Jak waved the torch close to the ground clearing a path to the door. Carful to get as far away from the shelves as he could. He stepped over the Aeropan corps that laid right in front of the door way. He threw the torch aside closing the door behind him.
"We need to find Keira quick," Daxter stated as Jak ran down the hallway, "I don't want to be stuck in here when that spreads." Jak pulled out his gun, he could hear a small group of people just on the other side of the wall from him, they weren't trying to be quiet as they louted the palaces; they did not concern him. He moved down the hall, peeking around corner to see what they were walking into. Daxter tapped on Jak's head and pointed to a security camera on the wall, Jak shot it, not caring if Skyheed knew he was here.
They didn't really know where they were going Jak was opening every door he found and checking each room, but the fact was that he didn't know where he was going. As he ran, he and Daxter could hear a fight just ahead of them. He was pulling his gun back out when a small part of the wall open and he came to a stop, looking at it as Ruskin poked his head out and looked at them, "Well don't just stand there, get in here." He ordered.
"Why should we trust you?" Daxter asked as Jak walked closer him.
"I know where the young sage is."
"For your sake, I hope you're telling the truth." Daxter stated as Jak walked into the hidden passage. Ruskin closed the hidden door and turned on his flashlight, lighting up the passage.
"Where is she?" Jak asked as Ruskin led them down the corridor.
"At the top of the tower. I should warn you that I'm leading you right into a trap. Skyheed took her knowing you would come. He's furious about this whole mess and for that I thank you."
Jak and Daxter exchanged confused looks. "Why are you helping us?" Jak asked as they began to climb a flight of stairs.
"Because I've been trying to talk sense into the Duke for years but nothing has gotten through to him, he needs to be stopped, you and the pirates are the best chase for that."
"You're the one who warned us about the attack. And sent us the codes for the warp gate." Jak stated.
"Yes."
Ruskin pushed open another hidden door, poking his head out, "Doesn't seem like anyone had made it this far up yet." He stepped into the hall, Jak following. Ruskin led them to an elevator, hitting the call button. The doors open and they walked on and headed up. No one spoke as they climbed up the tower.
The doors opened as soon as they came to a stop, they weren't in the tower they were on top of it, the sky glowed red as smoke rose for the city far below. In the center of the floor was a large, shallow pool of Dark eco, six stone statutes of a woman stood around the pool looking as if they were inviting anyone to step in. On the other side of the pool Jak saw Keira sitting on the floor she called out to him as Skyheed walked towards them.
"Welcome," he said, in that tone that Jak was very quickly starting to hate. "You've been casing a far bit of trouble of late." Jak didn't say anything.
Ruskin step forward, "My Duke please, I'm begging you to stop this. We can start over, rebuild the city, be better."
"You are right Chansler." Skyheed said with a smile, he turned to looked over his burning city "We can and will rebuild, we will be better, stronger, we'll destroy the pirates and once the whole of the Brink is ours we can share our gifts with the rest of the world. With the core at my disposal I'll will make the world bow to me."
While Skyheed was distracted Jak silently made his way to Keira, who was looked at Skyheed in terror. Jak tapped her shoulder and she looked at him, "He's going to destroy everything." She whispered to him.
"Not if Jak and I have anything to say about it." Daxter stated as Jak helped Keira up.
"I can't let you do this my Duke." Ruskin stated.
Jak started to help Keira away from the edge of the tower. The three saw Ruskin form a dark eco ball in his hand and throw it at Skyheed. It hit him in the back casing his to stumble nearly falling off the tower. He turned to looked at Ruskin the older elf took a few steps back as Skyheed came towards him, stepping into the pool. The dark eco flowed into him forcing him to change, his eyes turned black and his nails grew into claws. Jak pulled Keira behind him she, clung to him in order to stay up. Skyheed threw a blast at Ruskin. The dark eco hit the old man knocking him off his feet. Ruskin slid on the ground and off the tower. Keira clung to Jak even titer as Skyheed turned to them.
"Jak…" Keira whimpered. Jak grabbed Kiera's hand and pulled her off of him and putting her on the ground not taking his eyes from Skyheed.
"Jak, I'm giving you one last chase." Skyheed said, "Join me and I promise you'll have everything you could ever want or die." Jak pulled out his gun with a defiant look. Skyheed shook his head, "I am so disappointed in you, Jak."
Skyheed threw a dark blast at the three of them, Jak put up a shield deflecting the attack he let the shield drop and charged, firing his gun. Skyheed waved his hands up and the dark eco below him rose turning solid instantly. The crystal impaled it and grew around it but when Skyheed let the dark wall fall the green crystal just fell into the pool. Jak ran around him firing, Skyheed deflecting every shot, never once leaving the pool. Skyheed started throwing dark eco at him Jak dogged it, changing the direction he was running.
He looked at the statutes that were surrounding the pool, he took the crystals out of his gun putting it away, he channeled green eco into them and then threw one in-between each statute. "Jak!" Keira called once Skyheed was trapped in the pool, Jak ran over to her, they could hear Skyheed trying to break out, the crystal wouldn't hold for long. "Jak you have to get him out of the pool." Keira said, "He needs it to say dark." Jak nodded. They looked up as the crystal walls shattered one by one.
Jak leapt to his feet and ran at him pulling his gun back out, Daxter handing him some crystals from his bag. Jak loaded them and fired. Skyheed once again crystallized some of the dark eco in front of him and laughed but Jak wasn't aiming for him. The crystal embedded itself in the rim of the pool, going right threw it, it grew braking apart the stone bit by bit before it shattered leaving a gaping hole that dark eco was now flowing from. "NO!" Skyheed yelled. He looked at Jak and then he looked at Keira. Skyheed charged at her.
Jak rocked himself at Skyheed, slamming into him, knocking him back, the three of them fell into the growing puddle of Dark eco, Daxter falling off Jak's shoulder into it. Keira screamed seeing Daxter fall. The ottsel looked at her and gave a thumbs up to show that he was okay. She didn't seem convinced.
Jak absorbed the dark eco and allowed himself to go dark. Daxter jumped back up on Jak's shoulder as he ran at the older elf. Jak slashed at him, Skyheed leaped back dogging the attack. Jak again swung at Skyheed nearly hitting him, Skyheed grabbed Jak's wrist and threw him. Kiera screamed as Jak slid across the ground on his side, coming to a stop right at the edge. He peeked over the sided, smoke was leaking out windows. Hopefully it would take the fire a good long while to make it up here.
Jak leaped back up seeing Daxter, who at some point had fallen off again, charging at Skyheed who was walking over to Keira. She screamed for Jak as the dark elf came closer to her. Jak charged at him. Daxter got there first. He leapt up and bit Skyheed's arm.
He yelled, grabbing Daxter by the tail, he was about to throw him when Jak reached him and slashed his claws across the older elf's back. Skyheed screamed, dropping Daxter and turning to face Jak. He tackled Jak and began to choke him. Jak struggled, claws slowly digging into his neck as Skyheed tighten his grip. Jak changed back, his vison begging to go black. Then everything sundry turned green. Jak felt Skyheed's grip loosen as the older elf turned to see what was happening. Air rushed back into Jak's lungs as he looked at the source of the sudden light, his vison returned to normal.
"Leave him alone!" Keira yelled. The green glow was coming from her, she was floating about half a foot off the ground. Her hair and dress moved as if a strong breeze was blowing it, her eyes were filled with that bright green glow. Jak and Daxter just stared at her dumb struck by what they were seeing. Skyheed charged at her. That was enough to snap them out of their shocked. Jak quickly got up but he needed have bothered. Keira raised her hands and a concentrated blast of green eco shot from her hitting the dark elf in the chest, knocking him back. Jak leaped out of the way, Skyheed landing on his back, skidding in the dark eco and crashing into one of the stone statues causing the base to crack.
"Ha!" Daxter yelled pointing at Skyheed, "Not so grate when it's you, is it?"
Skyheed growled getting back up, he started to charge a dark blast in his hands. Jak followed his gaze to Keira who clearly knew what was coming, "Jak!" she called. Skyheed threw the blast.
Jak sprinted for it, Daxter jumping on him as he ran past managing to grab the back of his shirt. Jak leapt in front of Keira, taking the hit. He was thrown back colliding with her and the three of them fell off the tower.
