The Einzbern's Hero chapter 7

Two sides of the same coin

xxx

He couldn't focus on anything at the moment, not on the Mckenzies, not on the woman flanking his side, not even on the sound of Rider and Saber's blades clashing outside. No the only thing Waver Velvet could focus on was the man in front of him.

The Mage Killer, Kiritsugu Emiya.

He had heard the stories of him. The man who specialized in killing other mages, his own kind. When he imagined he imagined a cold-blooded killing machine. The dead eyes staring back at him told him he imagined correctly.

Waver didn't realize he wasn't breathing until The Mage Killer began speaking.

"Relax, if I wanted to kill you at the moment, I wouldn't have left these two alive." He said pointing at the two actual members of the household asleep with their face on the table. This caused Waver to start breathing again until he realized what he just said.

"A-at t-t-the moment?" Waver asked, cursing himself for how shaky his voice was, how scared he sounded.

"Well, that depends on how cooperative you are. You answer my questions truthfully and I'll let you go." Waver sighed a breath of relief. "However you hold anything back or cause problems, well there plenty of ways to explain why a stranger died in this house right?"

Waver began breathing heavy again.

"What do you want to know?" Waver asked, not knowing what to expect.

"Archer and his Master, what did they want from you?" Kiritsugu asked walking towards Waver.

"Huh?"

A gun being pointing at his head caused him to start talking without and stutter.

"I don't understand what you mean!? They only wanted take out Caster! I just assumed that they wanted the extra command seal! That's all I know I swear." Waver basically screamed out.

Kiritsugu kept the gun pointed at him, but looked at Maiya. They shared a silent conversation before Kiritsugu turned back to Waver and asked "Did you manage to kill Caster and his Master?"

This caused Waver to look to the side as he had to think about what happened in the last couple of hours.

"We didn't kill Caster, only his master"

Kiritsugu just stared at the boy. "Explain."

So Waver did he told him the entire ordeal starting at the sewers all the way to the market district. He did leave out one detail though.

"WHO TOOK ARCHER'S MASTER!" Kiritsugu demanded pushing the barrel of his gun hard against Waver's forehead. The woman behind him began to straighten. Waver looked at them, not thinking of his next words till he said the.

"..No." Was all he said.

"What? Do you not remember what I told you?" Kiritsugu said as he cocked the gun. "I will kill you."

Waver's eyes still showed, but now they showed something else: determination. For what? He couldn't tell.

"Why?"

Waver thought about that answer. Then he remembered her smile and the help she'd given him. How brave she was, her a simple homunculus held more strength and courage then he'd ever had and maybe ever will. Waver felt that if he gave her up to this boogeyman he'd be betraying her. He wouldn't allow that.

"She saved me. Me, an enemy master. She fought against a psycho and saved a group of kids to boot without any hesitation. So I'll be damned if I let someone like you do something to hurt her." He said his head pushing back against the gun.

This stunned Kiritsugu as after a second he chuckled and lowered his gun. This boy had a crush on his wife. What a twist. After he was done feeling amused, he looked at Waver with a serious face.

"Trust me, hurting her is the last thing I want." He said. "But you said someone took her, so she's in danger already. If you care for her then tell me so I can rescue her."

Waver looked conflicted as all the stories he had heard of the Mage killer told of his cold, uncaring nature. A man whose very existence leaves bodies in his wakes. What he's seeing now is something...different.

"…..Assassin"

Kiritsugu's eyes widen and he immediately began making his way to the door. Maiya close in toe. However as soon as they made their way to it, Waver blocked their way.

"Move." Kiritsugu said feeling the need to get to his wife as fast as possible.

"Take me with you." Waver said.

Rider was not particularly pleased about this situation. Waver was in the house alone and here he was stuck outside, any attempt to get inside being thwarted by Saber. Not to mention his master was not answering his calls all he could feel was his overwhelming sense of dread.

He didn't want call his chariot in fear of destroying the house. No true King would needlessly sacrifice his subjects, not to mention Glenn McKenzie is an excellent drinking partner.

"Saber why sink so low as to bring in unaffected people." Rider taunted sword in hand. Saber eyed him waiting for him to make another move to the door.

"I would not think so highly, it was your master who decided to take refugee here." She told him.

Rider was going to reply, but before he could Kiritsugu came rushing out the Door with Maiya and Waver chasing after them.

"For the last time no." Came the words from Kiritsugu.

"I can help, I owe her!" Waver shouted after him.

"I can't trust you, be glad I have other matters to deal with now or I'd have killed you." Kiritsugu replied as he and Maiya hopped into the black car.

"Wha, but you said!" Waver replied. Kiritsugu still looking forward rolled the window down.

"Don't listen to what another mage tells you, being so naive will be your death in the moonlit world." Kiritsugu told Waver before rolling the window back up and they drove away.

Saber looked at Rider, who looked back.

"What is it do you fight for King of Knights, that makes it worth fighting for a master like that?" Rider asked as he stared at her with judgment. She could only look at him, with conflicting feelings as Archer's words rang in her head. Without word Saber followed after her master.

Rider looked at where she left, before turning to his own master.

"So what are you going to do?" Rider looked at as though he was sizing him up.

Waver looked at his servant before turning his attention to where Kiritsugu and his group left towards. He didn't know if he could actually help, but….

He wanted to try. At least for her.

"We're going. I don't care if we get in the way. I don't care how tough it's going to be. I'm going to repay her." Waver replied steel in voice as he told Rider his plan.

This caused Rider to boast into joyous laughter.

"Ahh So off to rescue the fair maiden are we. They do say love is the most powerful emotion that drives a man to act." Rider said. This caused Waver to blush heavily as he started to stutter.

"W-Who said anything about love you idiot!" Waver yelled as his face became as red as a tomato. "This just repaying a debt that's all. Yeah that's right." He crossed his arms and nodded.

This caused Rider to look at Waver as a soft smile graced his face.

"So not only have you fought against a mad man. You have stood up to a man who you have great fear of, and now you lead the charge to rescue a damsel in distress. Where has the sniveling boy who summoned me gone. All I see is fine man forming in front of me. You're a worthy master Waver Velvet" Rider spoke as thou he was complimenting one of his generals, causing Wavers heart to speed up and his blush to get even redder. Waver looked to the ground and muttered softly "Idiot." Causing Rider to laugh again.

Waver went to start walking towards the direction of the church as the master of Assassin went their early in the war. However before he could take a step forward, Rider grabbed his shoulder.

"Uh boy aren't you forgetting something." He said as he jabbed his thumb towards the house.

Waver's face dropped.

"Ahh! The McKenzie's!" He yelled as ran inside to remove the sleep spell.

Rider laughing the whole time.

Irisviel sat on the couch opposite of Kirei Kotomine's desk. The executioner stared at her with curiosity his eyes. As though she was something he had never seen before. She had stayed quiet when she had initially gotten here. Ignoring Kirei's questions till he stopped talking.

This was the man who had her husband tied up in knots. The person that her oldest child, could she think of Archer like that, made a deal to save her life.

"Why?" was all she said, causing Kirei to become surprise as she hasn't said a word.

"Hmm? Why what?" He replied.

"Why would you kidnap me. You should know Archer isn't going to take it well." She told him hoping to at least get a reason as to why she was here in the first place.

Kirei got up from his chair and began to approach her.

"I wanted to know what his desire is. Why are you so important, why do you need to live for his plan to succeed? I feel like there's more to this than he lets on. I want to know, maybe then I'll be able to find the answers he promised me." Kirei explained.

Irisviel looked at Kirei with confusion, like what he saw should be obvious.

"He still wants to save someone." Irisviel said. Kirei stared at the homunculus like she grew a second head.

"He wants to….save someone." Kirei said as though the word save was foreign.

"Yes he tries too hard at times, he's like a certain someone else in that regard. However he's very stubborn so I promise you if he's offered to save you, than he will."

"What did he promise you?" Irisviel knew she shouldn't ask anymore, but her curiosity was getting the better of her.

"He promised me to live the life I've always wanted to live: A normal life, but he also told me he could promise me the ability to also live the way I need to, whatever that may be." Kirei answered.

Irisviel could only stare at the man. This was the man that caused her husband sleepless nights, due to Kiritsugu's inability to understand the reason behind Kirei Kotomine's reason for participating in the grail war and here the answer to that was:

Even Kirei didn't know.

Irisviel was stuck in thought.

"What would Archer give you for your help with me?"

Kirei looked at her.

"You weren't the only requirement." Kirei told her.

"Huh?" Came her confused response.

"I was also to help the young Tohsaka Sakura." He continue.

Irisviel looked at him confused, Archer never mentioned anything about trying to help another person, let alone a young girl. Before She could say anything else, a golden mist appeared and suddenly Irisviel staring at Gilgamesh, the king of heroes.

"Couldn't help yourself Kirei?" Gilgamesh said to the young priest.

"I needed to know." Kirei replied.

"Well you might get an answer to your question. He's just arrive." Gilgamesh said as he viciously smiled and vanished once again. Irisviel perked up at that.

'Archer can you hear me?! Hello Archer?!' the silver haired master attempted to reach her servant. However no matter how hard she tried she couldn't feel the connection. In fact she felt as though something was blocking her connection with Archer. Like back at the river, but this was different. It wasn't that something was stopping the connection, but that something had numbed it. It was there, but she couldn't feel it anymore.

'What's going on?!'

XXX

Archer's boots landed softly on one of the tree branches that surrounded the Fuyuki church. The white haired servant cursed under his breath as he thought about the situation he found himself in. The entire alliance with Rider was nothing but trouble.

Not necessarily with the servant or his master, but the entire plan they put together ended up snowballing so bad that it's made impossible to finish his mission cleanly. However, that was fine. Not to his liking sure, but in the end when his work is finish he'll simply fade away.

With Irisviel currently in the hands of Kotomine though, that put everything to a dead stop. At least, till he got her back. All Archer could do was sigh.

"What a high maintenance master I have." Archer said before he made the leap to the church rooftop. As Archer made his way across the rooftop. However his approach was stopped when multiple black shadows appeared surrounding him all across the roof.

"My my, and here I thought your master and I had reached an understanding. Apparently I was Mistaken." Archer said as he projected Kanshou and Bakuya. The Assassins made no move however and a second later Archer felt why. A smirk appeared on the red servants face.

"I should have guessed it was you who put this together. You always did have more brains then I gave credit for." Archer quipped as a golden shower appeared before him. "King of heroes."

"Heh you are, always as it seems, a brave mongrel Faker." Gilgamesh said. "Insulting your king should grant you a well-deserved death, yet, you have proven yourself interesting enough to pique my curiosity."

'Where's my master King of heroes. Why have you taken her?" Archer asked as he felt the connection between himself and Gilgamesh grow stronger.

Gilgamesh simply smirked at him. "Oh dare to make demands of your king do you? You truly do not know your place do you? She's fine downstairs with Kirei."

"Turned him against me did you?" Archer said hoping to buy himself time to prepare a distraction.

"I have done no such thing. He is my subject, I'm just helping him, like you, to discover his inner passion." Gilgamesh replied. "Oh I wouldn't try to summon those pitiful replicas., it wouldn't end well for you. You've already started to feel the effects haven't you?"

Archer tried to summon a couple swords to throw at Gilgamesh, but something was blocking him. Jamming his circuits. Then it hit him like train. Causing Archer to recoil in pain. Archer's mind was confused he was trying to project a weapon from UNLIMITED BLADE WORK(Gate of Babylon). He tried it again, however the info he was being given was instead was causing him to project the gate itself. Obviously he couldn't as the gate itself was divine in nature. The fact it wasn't a weapon didn't help either.

"See I told you." Gilgamesh told him as he began walking around him. "This "connection" between you and myself has caused quite an interesting effect. We are starting to see into the "other". The more we're around each other the more we bleed into the "other. Though it for a being such as myself, it seems you are having a more immediate effect."

All Archer could do was stare at Gilgamesh as he explained it all. The connection he felt between himself and his fellow Archer being so strong that he was starting to see things he knew he shouldn't otherwise. He felt the King of heroes will invade his own. It was though he felt he was Gilgamesh (Of course he was). Not something he was enjoying. He did everything he could just to shake off this effect.

"What's wrong Faker, you seem to be having a tough time." Gilgamesh smirked at him.

"Of course you'd be having an easier time of this than myself." Archer said as he struggled to stand up straight. "You're the definition of over the top."

The barbed comment did nothing to stop the golden servants amusement of the scene.

"I'll admit while this was interesting at first, the idea of you being anywhere inside my head makes me sick. In fact having you inside my head is probably the only reason I haven't killed you on the spot." Gilgamesh told him. "However that will eventually ware out it's welcome soon."

Archer feeling the effects of the start to worsen looked at Gilgamesh and asked: "What did you want?"

"What's your interest in Kirei Kotomine?" Such a simple question. "Though I feel as I already know the answer."

"Why the sudden interest in my motives, I thought they're below the kings interest."Archer stated.

"Oh they are, but through our "connection" I have felt your desires and your intents. The plans you are putting in motion." The blood red eyes of Gilgamesh bore into the steel-gray eyes of Archer with intensity, as though Gilgamesh was challenging Archer. "I want to know why a pawn is playing at being king?"

Archer looked at him for second before smirking. "No interest at all, no all I'm hoping for-" Archer told him before Gilgamesh cut him off.

"You seek to prevent a mistake from being created. The wish for the mongrel known as Emiya Shirou from being born."

"Yes."

"You wish to undo your mistake for the people around you?" Gilgamesh probed for more. Then Archer said something that thoroughly pissed him off.

"No this wish is a selfish one. I see no reason to explain to you though." Archer shrugged at him.

Gilgamesh looked at him before scoffing.

"You truly make no sense Faker." He told the red servant.

"I'm not sure how happy I am that we agree on something." Archer said, the more they spoke the more the King of Heroes words began to make sense as the Gilgamesh part of the connection snaked his way into his mind. This became more frightening to Archer and decided he needed to make some distance between himself and the golden servant and grab his master. Scanning the area Archer saw he was still surrounded by Assassins. Knowing he needed a way out Archer did the only thing he could think of.

Provoke Gilgamesh.

"Hehahaha." Archer began to laugh, causing the King of heroes to stare at him.

"Oh and what's so funny Faker?" Gilgamesh narrowed his eyes at his fellow archer.

'Just gotta hope he can't read my mind through the connection. At least not yet anyway' Archer thought. "Oh nothing important, just how when you think about it your treasury lacks in comparison. It seems to me King of heroes you're an inferior model."

That did the trick.

Gilgamesh started to look more ticked off than before. 'I'm assuming that did it.' Archer thought (Of course Faker, It seems I have let you off the leash for too long.)

"Of course Faker, it seems I have let of the leash too long." Gilgamesh replied anger replacing the amusement on his face that was there earlier. Then Gilgamesh said something that made them both freeze. "All I ever wanted to do was to make sure the people in my view didn't cry."

Archer stared at the golden king.

"Heh looks like you aren't as immune to these effects as you thought." Archer smirked causing Gilgamesh face to take on an offended look.

"You dare try and force me to behave like you, me who is above all others!" Gilgamesh roared.

Archer knew that he couldn't stick around he needed to grab Irisviel and get as far away from Gilgamesh as possible. Any longer and he might start repeating the word mongrel like he had a quota. (How dare you!)

"How dare you!" Gilgamesh roared reading his thoughts. A couple of golden portals had appeared, but not as many as on the docks. Archer think the "connection might be preventing Gilgamesh from going all out similar to what happened to himself earlier.

'It looks like the effects take longer for the King of heroes, but they are happening.' Archer thought as suddenly he heard in his head. 'This dirty mongrel touching my treasures, stealing what is rightfully mine.'

A couple spears and swords flew from the gate. Archer quickly jumped, vaulting over and using the assassins that were still surrounding them, Archer kicked one into the into the coming projectiles. Forcing himself to concentrate, he flooded his circuits with mana and quickly copied the other projectiles and fired them at the rest causing both the projection and the real deal to destroy itself.

"You dare take from me you despicable fake!" Gilgamesh yelled. "Once I'm done with you I'll carry on your dream!" Quickly he gritted his teeth as the EMIYA part of his mine snatched control for a mere second again.

Then a golden portal appeared above Archer as a large jewel encrusted hammer came down fast and smashed him through the roof into the main room of the church. Risei Kotomine looked on stunned as the red servant came down.

Quickly he looked up and using the brief relief created from the small distance between himself and Gilgamesh, launched himself at the overseer, grabbing him Archer began interrogating the priest.

"Where is she?!" Archer pressed, lifting him by his collar.

"I have no idea what you mean spirit?" Risei replied nothing to hint at him lying.

Suddenly a voice called to him from the side room.

"Archer!" Irisviel's voice rang out in a room to the side.

Archer letting Risei go smashed the door open, revealing his master and Kirei Kotomine. Despite Archers initial thought was he was going to find her bruised and damaged. Instead she was standing there, unharmed. In fact on the table next to the couch he could even see a cup of tea.

Archer looked at his master and Kirei, and then as quick as he could projected Kanshou and swung behind him deflecting another sword from the treasury. Turning around Archer was met by the sight of Gilgamesh once more. This caused Archer to hit his knees again as the "connection" came back in full force.

"Archer!?" Irisviel ran to her servant in concern, however Archer shoved her away as a spear embedded itself in the spot she stood.

"Did you truly think you could outrun me. You should know your place mongrel." Gilgamesh said as multiple portals formed again. However Archer notice one or two beginning to blink uncontrollably. The "Connection" taking it's hold more strongly around Gilgamesh's powers made Archer not even attempt another projection.

Archer immediately stepped in front of Irisviel, however before anything could happen Kirei Kotomine stepped in front of Gilgamesh as though fear was something he had no access to.

"You told me I would be able to ask my questions. That I would be able to see for myself what kind of man he is." Kirei Confronted the golden servant.

"Ho? So you attempt to deny me my vengeance Kirei?" Gilgamesh asked him.

"Are you saying you are a liar King of heroes." Kirei said causing Gilgamesh to narrow his eyes at the young executioner.

"Very well Kirei, but watch your tongue. You may have my interest for now, I will not tolerate slander like that again." Gilgamesh then turned to Archer. "This is the second time someone has saved you from my wrath Faker, I promise you there won't be a third."

And with that Gilgamesh disappeared in a shower of gold. Archer suddenly felt a pressure lift from his body. He could still feel Gilgamesh's presence, but it wasn't as suffocating as before. Archer got back on his feet and walked over to Irisviel.

"Are you okay master?" He said as he had shoved her harder than he meant to, she fell on her butt. He stretched his hand out. She took it and pulled herself up. Archer notice her hand shook a bit.

'It has been a long night.' He thought.

"I'm fine Archer. Just a bit shook up." She looked at him and gave a smile that was both relief and forced at the same time. Archer just shook his head.

"Let us leave master. We'll take you back to the castle." He said as he made his move to leave with Irisviel.

Kirei Kotomine blocked his way.

"I would suggest you move Kirei, as my patience has run thin after dealing with the other archer." He told him. Kirei still wouldn't budge. His father having finally gotten shook of his surprise of the whole situation spoke up.

"Kirei what is the meaning?" The older Kotomine requested of his son.

This caused Kirei to look at his father and back to Archer.

"Why?" Was all he asked.

Archer raised an eyebrow. "Why what?"

"Why are you intent on saving this doll?" Kirei asked him. "Why do you desire her to live."

Archer looked at him, this is why he kidnapped her.

'Because she is essential to my plan." He told Kirei. This didn't satisfy Kirei though as he stared at Archer. This servant promised to help find his own desire, but how could he trust someone who wouldn't even tell him his own desires.

XXX

'He tries too hard at times, he's like a certain someone in that regard. However he's very stubborn so I promise you if he's promised to save you he will.'

XXX

A hero huh? Kirei looked at Archer more clearly this time.

"Archer tell me, are you a hero?" Kirei asked throwing Archer off guard.

"What would give you that idea?" Archer answered. "Aside from Caster, I'm probably the next servant with the most blood on his hands."

"What do you mean?" Kirei said, Irisviel also was curious.

"That's not something I wish to discuss." Archer said. Apparently that was enough to set Irisviel off.

"Archer- no Shirou-kun. Tough. It's time for you to explain everything." Irisviel, having enough of Archer constantly beating around the bush. "You promised this man his ability to live as he wishes. It's time you pay up."

This caused Archer to be speechless. He looked between the two of them.

"I really do have a problematic master." He sighed defeated. However before he could begin to answer another voice rang out.

"Yes Archer, tell us everything." Kiritsugu and Saber stood at the entrance of the church.

"Kiritsugu?!" Irisviel yelled out.

Just his luck.

XXX

Irisviel was worried when Archer explained everything, mostly, what he knew of his timelines fourth holy grail war, the Fuyuki fire, Kiritsugu's adoption of him, his involvement in the fifth holy grail war and his servant: Saber.

That one shocked this timelines Saber. There was always something bugging her about how much Archer knew of her. The way he mocked her constantly, picking at her wounds and insulted her desire for the grail.

Now she knew why.

Irisviel could sit and watch as Saber started gritting her teeth. All she could do was feel worry for her. Saber wanted the grail just as much as Kiritsugu.

"So the grail is tainted, by a servant from the first holy grail war I oversaw. That is troubling." Risei said, however attention was more on his own son at the moment.

Archer's tale of the fifth holy grail war painted Kirei in a villainous light. Needless to say this only made the master of assassin more confused. The idea of himself murdering countless people, children made him feel….

Excitement.

Even though he knew that common logic means that the actions to be those of an evil man. Kirei couldn't help but admire the future him who had found his path in life.

Everyone was mulling over this information, Kiritsugu looked at Archer who was watching the others react to his tale. Kiritsugu didn't know how he should feel about this...man in front of him. This servant is the product of his failure, a boy that he would damn to forever be alone in his quest to be a hero of justice.

A counter guardian, a glorify mess cleaner. The hounds of Alaya. He doomed Arch- Shirou to that fate. This plan of Archer's, to destroy the tainted grail, is all because he failed in his mission. This caused Kiritsugu to grit his teeth and curse himself and the foolish idea he had to create a better world.

Archer watched the pained looks on Saber, Kiritsugu, and Kirei's faces he sighed. This is what he meant about doing this cleanly. He knew that involving more and more people in this would cause things to get out of hand. However a small part of him was hopeful that through his tale they saw a better future for themselves. That was till he saw Saber storm out of the church. He knew she would be the most difficult to convince.

'Just like last time.' He thought. Suddenly the image of a bridge appeared in his mind, causing him to suddenly grip his chest in heartache. This worried Irisviel who took her eyes off her husband to see her servant look pained.

'Shirou-kun?' She said through the link in a worried tone.

'It's nothing master, just a forgotten memory popping back up after all this time.' He said before continuing. 'Oh and master.'

'Yes?'

'Please stop calling me by that name. I have abandoned that name. Archer will do just fine.' He said to her, causing her to go silent.

Archer than began to address the group.

"I'll leave you all here to absorb what you have learned today." With that Archer went into spirit form.

Irisviel turned her attention back to Kiritsugu, who was staring at the floor. Seeing her husband like this reminded her of when they first met. The uncertainty of his place in the world. The need to help others, but no logical way to do it with his skill set. It was like staring into the past before Archer, the grail war, or….

Illya.

Irisviel remembered Archer's words.

XXX

"You'll be able to be a proper family. Isn't that something to strive for?"

"Be….a real family."

XXX

Irisviel made her choice.

Suddenly Irisviel stood up and offered her hand to her husband. This caused him to look up at her in confusion.

"Iri?"

"Come with me." She said and took his hand and left to the room that Kirei and Gilgamesh held her in. Doing this she pushed him onto the couch.

"Iri what are you- mmph" Kiritsugu tried to speak before she kissed him passionately.

"Kiritsugu I want you to know that I love you." Irisviel said as determination took over. This caused Kiritsugu to look at her in bewilderment. "I love Illya."

"I know Iri. What's gotten into you?" He asked as she decided to kiss him once more.

"I want to live with you and Illya! I want us to grow old together! I want to watch her grow with you! I want! I want…" She started to tremble against him as she put her head into his shoulder. "I want to live."

She whispered that so low he almost didn't hear her. She started talking again.

"You are a hero Kiritsugu, you're my hero. So please stay with me." Irisviel said pulling back and looking at him on the verge of tears. "Please let's follow Archer's plan, let's destroy the grail and stop that tragic fire. Then we return to the Einzbern's and defeat who gets between us and Illya!"

Irisviel's word hit something in Kiritsugu. He weighed the options. The grail now being unattainable means his dream of a world free from conflict was unreachable. However the grail still needed to go. The easiest way to do that would be to…

Kill Iri. Destroy her body completely. It seems like an easy choice. His wife or the lives of 500 people. Iri's words, his wife for the first time ever was asking something of him.

The choice was easy.

XXX

The sun was beginning to rise as dawn approached and Archer watched as Saber stormed her way pass Maiya. He saw how upset she was. She truly believed in her wish, that Britain was better off without her. That her reign as King had no worth. Why couldn't she see her wish as it was. A contradiction.

She had stopped as she waled through the woods. Suddenly she spoke to nothing.

"Why are you following me? Archer." She spoke to him. Archer shifted out of spirit form in front of her.

"Just making sure you didn't run off and do something stupid." He shrugged at her. This caused her to look at him with something that wasn't quite anger. Something he couldn't quite figure out.

"Did you have your laugh." She said to him. This shocked him at why she would say that.

"Why would I laugh at you?" He asked, then she looked at him in anger.

"You dare! You who knew about me and my wish! You, who knew of the Grail's nature! You just let me believe I could attain it. Now you mock me with your words." She glared at him, gripping her sword tightly. "WHY!"

This stunned the white haired servant. He didn't think about that. He had simply been too focus on his mission that once again he ignored everything else around him. It was the same as with Irisviel. He seem to be falling into old habits.

"Well what do you have to say?!" She yelled.

This caused Archer to just stare. Another memory came to him, a fight on a bridge words that stung more than anything he had ever been through.

XXX

"I made a contract to obey you, but I did not give you my heart, Master."

XXX

"I'm….sorry." He told her, unsure of the words he should use for this. "I wanted to do everything myself. Use who I pleased and do what I must. I already made the decision to leave you and my master out of it. Of course she had other ideas."

She simply stared at him.

"You see Saber, I should've never become a hero in the first place. So the idea of telling you to abandon your wish felt hypocritical. Especially when I couldn't get you to abandon it during my life." This caused him to turn from her.

"Archer." She was at a lost for words. "You devoted your life to helping others how could you regret being who you are."

"Heh." This caused Archer to smirk. "I could say the same to you Saber."

This caused both servants to go silent.

"What are you two doing~?" Came the sing-song voice of Irisviel. Who was walking out holding hands with Kiritsugu.

This caused Saber to turn away blushing while Archer had tinge of red on his cheeks but didn't move.

"Eavesdropping is unbecoming of you master." The red bowman said playing it off. However Irisviel didn't let up.

"Of course I would, my son is a handsome man, and also quite the lady killer it seems." She said playfully.

Archer looked at Emiya Kiritsugu and saw something surprising. A small smile decorated his face. This caused him to develop a small smile himself.

"Well Emiya Kiritsugu, it seems you have made your decision." Archer said. Glad to at least one gambit had actually paid off.

"Yes I have. I'll fight for my families sake. For Irisviel and Illya." The man said causing Archer to finally see a small light at the end of this tunnel. This was a sign finally letting him know that he was on the right track.

However before he could enjoy his small victory, he felt a rumble. The smell of sulfur reached his nose. Then the loud noise, everyone turned to look in the direction and saw Rider and Waver being chased by a river of the tentacle monsters that Caster summons.

"Look out!" Came Wavers loud voice as he clutched the chariot for dear life.

However a huge monster towering over the rest soon emerged from the river carrying their enemy: Caster and a woman with dark red hair, Sola-Ui.

"Yes my beloved Ryuunosuke watch as I strike down those who took you from me, in front of this house of God!"

It's here!

It's Back!

The Einzbern and Hero's Talk show!

Sitting in her chair Irisviel looked shocked.

"Holy cow! We're actually back." She said stunned.

The audience started to yell and whistle in excitement.

"And yet the invisible audience never left it seems." Replied her white haired servant and co-host Archer.

"Welcome! Welcome! To the new and improved Einzbern and Hero's talk show. I'm your host Irisviel von Einzbern and this my co-host/ son Emiya Shirou-kun! We thank you for joining us." Irisviel smiled and waved.

"Yes thank you to all who stuck around and waited for this to return." Archer said.

"Umm excuse me can we come out now?" Came the head of Waver Velvet poking out of the back stage curtain.

"Oh my gosh, Waver-kun how long have you been back there?!" Irisviel said in shock.

"Almost four years." Waver said as tears streamed down his face. Suddenly Waver was pushed out of the back stage as Rider also emerged from the back.

"Oh it feels so good to stretch my legs it feels like I've been back there for ages." The King of conquerors started to stretch. He then looked at Waver who fell on his face. "What are you doing down there boy?"

"WHY DO YOU THINK!" Waver jumped up and started yelling at his servant.

"Yoo-hoo Waver-kun. We need you guys to sit with us." Irisviel waved at him.

This seemed to short-circuit Waver as he blushed so much that steam came from his head, and he just stood there.

Rider poked Waver and laughed.

"AH HAHA! To be in love." Rider laughed causing Irisviel to look on confused.

"Ugh we're never going to be able to properly do an interview are we." Archer groaned.

"Ehh the author has no idea what we would ask." Irisviel did a pity laugh.

"Next time be on the look out for our next interview Gilgamesh and his master Tokiomi."

"What?! Why?!"

The Audience screamed in excitement.

"There's nothing there…..could someone check on Waver?"

I was thinking of setting up a discord for you guys. Be sure to let me know if you're interested. Also I do stream every now and again on Youtube and Twitch. Let's see this is the part where I usually recommend a fate fanfic or two.
