Rhodey couldn't believe his luck, getting to meet Captain America and work alongside him? Now if only they wouldn't have aliens attacking, then he could feel more at ease.

Inside the room where the scepter was being propped up Rhodey got a wave of goosebumps looking at it, even with what he knew he felt the thing was dangerous. Maybe what Tones said got to him but why wasn't it covered or behind a locked case? Ah well if he had to guard a stick he would, wouldn't be the weirdest job he had done.

"Funny how a thing like that could change a man's soul." Rogers mused, arms folding, a frown on his face.

"I feel you."

They stared at it and both looked away at the same time like they couldn't keep it in their sights for too long without needing a reprieve.

The doors opened as another person joined them, Coulson gave them a polite smile and shuffled over to the other side where he started sifting through some paperwork. Rhodey could hear the ticking of the clock and wondered if he really needed to be in the suit for this.

Why did he let Tony rope him into more nonsense, huffing, he rolled his shoulders trying to release some of the tension that was gripping them. It was cold in the room and the suit couldn't keep it out. A shiver came over him, he grumbled with annoyance. He was going to complain to Tony about the suit's ability to keep the temperature regulated.

"Do you mind keeping quiet?" Captain America asked the look in his eyes said he was expecting more from a fellow military man.

"Give me a break I barely-"

It all happened so fast, one moment he was turning towards the Captain the next he realized Coulson was in front of them, scepter in hand, tapping it to Rogers' chest.

"Boop!"

Coulson laughed even as Rhodey punched him, his fists met air and his heart froze. In the corner of his eye he spotted Coulson reappearing, although it was no longer Coulson. With a shimmer Loki revealed himself, he tutted at them and strolled out.

Before Rhodey could even think of chasing he was shoved into the wall. The face of America was turned on him, eyes very blue and very cold. Remembering what he was told, knock out anyone controlled it was too bad this head was going to be harder to smack then the usual one. Rhodey winced at the screeching of metal as the shield slammed into him once more. Damn.

He felt Tony's alarmed ping but other than yelling at him to go after Loki Rhodey didn't have time to elaborate. Sparks flared as the Captain went for another bash, this time the Colonel retaliated crushing the man into the adjacent wall. The pressure of both sides made the wall crack, anymore and they'd fall to the other side.

With the small stalemate Rhodey went over his options. No high artillery inside a flying building, that was a given. Any of his lower destructive choices would bounce off that shield and possibly hit someone that wasn't a super soldier. Should he remove the shield from Rogers he didn't like the idea of shooting someone who wasn't in their right mind.

Already he could hear the clamor of agents scrambling at the sudden fight or from whatever Loki was doing. Guess that left a good old fashioned brawl. That or blasting the Captain outside where the impact from falling into the water would hopefully knock him out.

Rhodey's hesitance made it easy for the soldier to readjust himself slipping underneath and around sending a punishing hit to the back of his neck with the edge of the shield. Rhodey stumbled hissing.

He could feel the small indent where metal was starting to pinch his skin. For now he'd trade blows but he had to think of something that wouldn't potentially kill Rogers. Super soldier or not if Rhodey was unfamiliar with how much the man could take he couldn't go all out.

Agents rushed into the room, guns in hand.

Rhodey yelled, "Get back! Loki got to him!"

There was a short moment where nothing happened but when the Captain took a step forward shots were fired and promptly deflected. Some ricocheted and grazed the agents, thankfully none of the hits were lethal.

Rhodey took advantage of the Captain's change of attention and went for a body slam. He was dodged but that was expected. Though Rhodey didn't like this he knew Rogers would rather be hurt than have innocent blood spilled while under someone else's control.

Decision made he sent a harsh charge of electricity towards the Captain, it had a short range but they were already in close combat. Tony warned him that the new features shouldn't be used on people until some kinks were worked out. So while he had some say in the output levels he couldn't hold back too much because if the Captain shook off the attack he wouldn't fall for the same trick twice. Once it looked like he was resisting going under Rhodey gave him one last smack to the head for good measure.

There was a hush as everyone held their breath.

Rogers let out a grunt before his body finally went slack. Rhodey was able to see the man's vitals were shaken but overall not in danger.

Seriously why did he let Tony rope him into these things?

-Natasha-

.

This was it. Eyes flashing at Iron Man's text. Hawkeye was close, she could feel it. Blood pumping she got ready to intercept the mystery aircraft when a cool voice interrupted her.

"Where are you going?"

It was Coulson. What was he doing here when he was supposed to be elsewhere? Micro thoughts came and went ultimately Natasha saw her chance and took it. Swiftly she knocked out her fellow agent and shoved him under the locker room benches, he'd be found soon.

Coulson would understand if he was in his right mind and understand even more if he wasn't. All in all, if this worked out all would be well, if not, she'd blame it on Iron Man. With one possible target out of the way she set her sights on her real target. She was getting her partner back.

-Thor-

.

Thor beseeched his brother once more. He tried asking what happened after his fall, he felt his heart twist as his brother continued to disregarded his presence. Clenching his fists he hit the glass and demanded Loki pay attention. Did he not understand what he had done? The All-Father was never going to pardon him after everything he's done but Thor needed to know at least why. His heinous acts in Asgard, his chaos wrought on Midgard, it was no doubt Loki had gone mad but still, Thor wished…

At the distant rumble Thor snapped his head to the side where the disturbance lay, he regarded his Brother who unnaturally ignored his pleas. For him to not even give a tongue lashing was peculiar.

Thor jerked when his brother's image fell revealing his Lady Jane.

"No, this cannot be."

He had spoken with her on the small device. How could have Loki apprehended her in such a short time. Yet, if it were his brother he would not be able to use his magic.

"Th-Thor, it was a trick he was never taken this whole time, you need to sto-"

Before her words were done she fainted. Thor was aware this could be a trap but that was an underlining worry, his first and foremost thought was to get Jane to safety. He pressed all of the buttons on the mechanism that controlled the prison in the hopes one would open the doors. He eventually found it and rushed inside, as he kneeled the doors closed around him locking them inside.

By the place Thor once was revealed his brother, behind him Jane's visage faded leaving an unknown person slumped upon the ground.

"Once a fool, always a fool." The last thing he saw was Loki waving his hand as he fell.
