Disclaimer: I own nothing
So this is a little bit of a POV shift here I hope you like it
Mel's Afterlife 1
Chell awakes strapped to a chair in a room with 3 large television screens, 1 GIANT screen, and 1 small one. On the 3 large screens it displays her teammates, and on the small one there's something like a scorekeeper. On the giant screen is currently Mel. Chell glares ice daggers at GLaDOS, who is in the room with her.
"Don't look at me like that, you brought this upon them." GLaDOS doesn't have a mouth, but you can tell she's smiling at the situation. Chell attempts to escape the chair, but continuously fails.
"No, don't get up, I'm sure they're doing just fine without your help. But since you're here, you might as well to get comfortable; you're going to be watching them for quite a while." Chell pouts as she stops trying to escape.
"Let's start with familiar faces. Melanie is the only member of your ensemble that's been processed; she'll begin testing right away. Unfortunately her vocal patterns were against protocol; let's just say I changed that."
-
I wake up in a comfortable bed, which isn't normal so I don't open my eyes right away, I just lay back and enjoy it.
"Hello," I hear a female robotic voice from above me and my eyes shoot open realizing I'm not anywhere I should be. I stand up and yell at the ceiling.
"Hey! where am I! I-" I stop and hold my hand over my throat, my voice sounds different.
"Welcome to the Aperture Science computer-aided Enrichment Center." The voice says, but, my-my voice, she…GLaDOS changed it. I don't sound like myself anymore…
That bitch is going to pay.
"We hope that your application process was a pleasant one, and you are now ready to begin testing on the Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device." GLaDOS tells me, but I don't care, I don't care anymore about any of this, I sit back down on the bed and put my hands over my eyes. My eyes are telling me to cry, for the first time in decades I feel like I'm no longer in control of my own life. My eyes tell me to cry, cry like I did the day she was turned on, but I don't, I can't show her I have a weakness, no. I'm going to act like everything is fine, then I'm going to rip her to shreds, piece by fucking piece. And I won't remain silent like Chell.
"Hi, I'm Mel, what's your name?" I cringe at my own voice as I ask that, It's higher pitched and makes me sound like a fucking 12 year old. I'm not sure if that's what I would have normally asked, but I know I'm an upbeat an energetic person. I'm sure I'd ask who she is if I didn't already know.
"I…am the Genetic Lifeform and Disc Operating System." It sounds like she isn't used to hearing human voices, must be Chell's work.
"When can I start testing?" I ask at the camera watching me.
"The portal will open in 3…2…1." GLaDOS tells me just before I see an orange door sized hole in my peripheral vision. I look to my left and see the portal, through it I can see myself, and my voice isn't all she changed.
"Hey GLaDOS, why did you dress me in a blue jumpsuit?" seriously, a jumpsuit? I've come across combine with better fashion sense then this.
"I must apologize, but due to Federal and State regulations, interactions are to be kept to a minimum." She just doesn't want me to hate her, so she's keeping herself from talking, but I won't accept that.
"Really, c'moooooooon, the government won't have to know, I won't tell." I wink at the camera and then start walking. I take a look down at myself to see if anything ELSE is missing. It's good because there's nothing wrong, there is something though. I'm wearing these weird looking boots I saw Chell wearing, they're white and black…like everything else around here, and they have this stupid looking black strap thing holding my heels up. It straps on high up your leg, and it feels like it's rashing my leg or something. Guess that's something else I'll be dealing with.
I walk my way around the glass room I woke up in; it has a toilet, a table, a radio, a clipboard, and a bed of course. The bed is labelled at the end too, it says, 'Child Test Subject #306'. Wait, why did I wake up in a kids test room? That sounds a kind of dumb.
"Hey GLaDOS, why did I wake up in a kids test room?" I ask at the camera, as much as I'd like to murder her, I'm sure I can use her for information.
No response.
"Hey GLaDOS, are you even listening to me?" She isn't going to talk to me while I test, maybe I can annoy her into talking.
"Hey GLaDOS, hey GLaDOS, hey GLaDOS, hey, GLaDOS, hey, GLaDOS, hey, listen, hey, listen, hey, listen." I do that for about 2 minutes before she finally talks back to me.
"If it means so much to you to hear me, then alright, what is it you would like to talk about?" really, that worked? I should do stuff like that more often, I was actually about to give up too.
"Well, nothing if I actually think about it, it's just better to have options." I tell her with a giant smile on my face, and it's my first actual smile since I woke up, it's fun to mock her.
=====
I'm standing on a platform overtop of a river of water, and I have the blue Portal gun, but it's not like to one Chell has. Mine can only shoot one Portal, and it doesn't seem very useful to me for back home. I'm just about to finish this test, 5 I think the number is. My platform slowly travels towards the exit elevator. I don't know why Chell mentioned so many dangerous things, I haven't seen any yet, in fact every test has been easy and safe, I've been going slow and taking it easy so far.
"Congratulations subject, it's become apparent that you're far too intelligent for the children's test course. So I'm bumping you up to the adult course." GLaDOS tells me, oh, that might explain why nothing was dangerous.
"That's cool, I like challenges." I flash the camera a peace sign as I get off the platform and pass through the emanserpated grid thing.
"I would hope so, these next tests will be very challenging, but first, make your way down the sets of stairs leading to the elevator."
But I'm still not sure if I should trust her, after what Chell told me, and of coarse there's the voice thing. It's only been about half an hour or so and I feel less angry, is there something in the water?
"This next test involves deadly lasers, and how test subjects react when locked in a room, with deadly lasers." GLaDOS tells me…wait, deadly lasers, what about normal lasers, or maybe even invisible lasers, those would be cool.
"Hey GLaDOS, what's this about las-"
"I'm sorry," she interrupts, "But there's other subjects to attend to, I'm afraid we can't talk for the remainder of this test, but don't worry, I'll be back momentarily." She sounds almost happy to leave. Wait, she's leaving? She can't do that.
"You can't do that." I yell at the camera, but she's gone, that's sucky, I miss her, she talked to me. Even though I remember being angry at her for…something, I can't really remember what it is, my memory is kind of fuzzy right now. I'm feeling a little tired too, which is weird since I haven't done all too much since I woke up. Must be something in the water.

Chell looks at GLaDOS with huge contempt. Why, Chell thinks, why isn't Mel fighting back anymore? GlaDOS narrows her optic as she looks Chell over.
"I'm glad you're back though, in truth, I missed testing humans. Robots testing robots is far too controlled, there's no variables, which means no science."
Chell continued to stare, unphased.
"I tried testing some of the other things in the facility, but other then the co-operative testing initiative there was only plant overgrowth. But that didn't work, you can't test plants, they just sit around, not moving, kind of like you are right now."
Chell tries to escape her confinement once more, to no avail.
"But you're probably wondering what's different about your friend. Well let's answer that question with another question. How long do you think the human body can stay awake when you slowly increase the levels of anaesthesia in the air?"
