Alright, alright ya'll! Looks like I'm almost done with this. I dare say I have maybe 3-5 more chapters to write, then I'll be finished! Anyways, enjoy and tell me what you think.
Chapter 4
The sun shone brightly in the clear blue sky as Jade and Sookie strolled side by side down the bustling streets of their small town. It was a perfect day for a girl's day out, and they had an important mission ahead - shopping for the upcoming BBQ party and making preparations for Jade's older brother's homecoming and birthday celebration.
Excitement filled the air as the two best friends walked past colorful storefronts, their laughter, and chatter blending seamlessly with the lively ambiance of the town. Jade's dark hair flowed freely in the gentle breeze, while Sookie's blond curly locks bounced with each step. They were an inseparable duo, always there for each other through thick and thin.
Their first stop was the local market, known for its vibrant array of fresh produce and delectable treats. As they strolled through the stalls, the intoxicating aroma of spices and grilled meats enveloped them. They carefully selected the juiciest cuts of meat, vibrant vegetables, and a wide assortment of sauces to cater to every palate.
"Let's not forget my big bro's favorite, Pop's sweet and tangy BBQ ribs," Jade suggested, pointing to the mouthwatering ribs on display.
"Absolutely," Sookie agreed with a grin, giggling. "He's going to be happy when he takes that first bite."
Her best friend was completely distracted by today's activities. It was almost as if Bill Compton never existed. But Jade knows that won't last long. There will be moments when Sookie recalls her moments with Bill that will make her feel sad and depressed. They made a stop at a little café in Shreveport to take a break. She took a sip of her coffee and sighed in relief.
"Can you believe that Eric is finally coming home, Sook?" Jade exclaimed, her eyes shining with anticipation. "It's been ages since we last saw him."
Sookie nodded, her smile matching Jade's enthusiasm. "I know, right? We have to make sure everything is perfect for his homecoming and birthday. He deserves the best after being away for so long."
With their shopping bags filled to the brim, the girls made their way to a charming little bakery to order a cake. Jade's brother had always loved chocolate, so they chose a rich, decadent chocolate cake adorned with swirls of velvety buttercream frosting. As they walked out of the bakery, their noses captivated by the heavenly scent of fresh baked goods, Sookie turned to Jade.
"We still need to get decorations for the party. Let's check out that new party supplies store downtown."
The store was a wonderland of vibrant colors, filled with balloons, streamers, and an array of party favors. Jade and Sookie excitedly browsed through the aisles, their laughter echoing throughout the store as they shared stories and giggled over silly memories.
After carefully selecting a mix of balloons in Eric's favorite colors and some eye-catching decorations, they headed to Jade's house to start setting up for the celebration.
After Jade had mentioned her brother coming back, Sookie got to thinking about him. To be perfectly honest, she was excited about his homecoming herself. He was always so nice and kind to her. When she came home for the holidays to visit her Gran, they had a brief period of hanging out with each other; they talked and text each other quite a bit. However, for some reason, Eric became distant and pulled away from her out of nowhere. Sookie had no idea what had happened.
"Looks like we have everything we need. Let's head home, and set up." Sookie nodded her head, grabbing the bags. They made their way back to the car, loading all groceries and supplies into the trunk for the party. It was 5 pm by the time they made it back to Jade's house. Instead of cooking, Jade ordered Chinese food.
While the best friends ate their meal, they transformed the backyard into a festive paradise. They hung streamers from the trees, strategically placing colorful balloons at every corner. The sweet aroma of freshly cut grass mingled with the smoky scent of the BBQ grill, a delicious preview of the mouthwatering feast to come.
With each task they completed, Jade and Sookie's excitement grew. They knew that their efforts would make her brother's homecoming and birthday celebration unforgettable. The thought of seeing the joy on his face filled them with warmth and anticipation.
As the sun began to set, casting a warm golden glow over the backyard, Jade and Sookie stepped back to admire their handiwork. The scene before them was a testament to their friendship and dedication. They had turned an ordinary backyard into a magical space that awaited the arrival of Jade's beloved brother.
"I can't believe we did all this," Jade said, her voice filled with pride and gratitude. "Thanks, Sook. I couldn't have done it without you."
Sookie smiled, her eyes gleaming with affection. "That's what best friends are for, Jade. We're a team, and together, we can accomplish anything." She looked down at the ground, silent for a moment, then continued, "Thanks for everything, Jay. Without you, I don't where I'd be right now. I wish I had a way to repay you."
Jade gave a smile, "You can repay me by doing for yourself and being happy. Don't ever let Bill come back into life and ruin everything…" she paused, something coming to mind, "Speaking of which, I wonder why Bill hasn't tried contacting you? Not that I'm complaining." she chortled. Sookie gave a shrug of her shoulders.
However, deep down she felt that Bill was going to make an appearance soon. There's no way he's done with Sookie. It was going to drive her crazy waiting for him to turn up and cause chaos in her. She suddenly felt the need to hug her friend, so she wrapped her arms around her waist and squeezed gently.
As they embraced, a sense of fulfillment washed over them. They knew that the upcoming celebration would be a cherished memory, not just for her brother, but for themselves as well. Their girl's day out had become so much more than a shopping trip; it had become a testament to the power of friendship and the joy of creating lasting memories together.
Review! And come on, we all know Bill will be coming back. Next chapter will be Eric's homecoming! *Wink.
