I own nothing!
Charlie's Afterlife 1
I can't take any more of this useless bullshit! It's been what? An hour of BiTCHDOS? And she's been attempting to manipulate me into competing with my friend Gil this entire time! What makes this even worse is that just before she split the two of us up, I was making such good strides with curing him of the amnesia that he apparently picked up sometime before waking me.
What in the nine layers of hell does that BiTCH have planned for the two of us anyway, test? Until when? She gets bored of us and reveals she was just some simple program designed by the Combine all this time? You can't catch me off guard that easily!
But until I can figure out a way to spring everyone out of this place, I won't be escaping. Not that it wouldn't be easy, I just need a plan, I can't let myself be run by blind rage, that doesn't work without a gun in my hand or armour on my chest. No, what I need is a plan, and I need it fast, or I might end up like some of these other poor bastards that BiTCH keeps talking about.
"Oh, I just love listing off the frailties humans suffer from. For instance, did you know that humans can die if they don't breathe for more than three minutes? It's true! But why am I asking you? Of course you know that already, what with the long strings of profanity you seem to enjoy shouting at me in a single breath." My patience is starting to wear thin with this fucking whore. But what am I supposed to do? I don't see a way out, no debris, no explosion holes, no escape shafts, nothing! This place is in fucking pristine condition.
…Excuse my language; I'm just so pissed at my situation. It's driving me up the damned walls. Speaking of the walls though, I seem to be standing next to one, in what seems to be your standard test room. Pillars, pit of acid goo, faith plates, cube, all the general stuff. I'll even finish this stupid test in a few moments, as soon as I can time the Portals just right on the wall at the other end of this far room. I mean, it's not as if I'm proud of myself for 'completing' these stupid room sized puzzles or anything, I just told myself a while ago that I wasn't accomplishing anything, or save anyone, by just standing around. I need to save Charlotte dammit! And Gil too, he may forget who he is, but the moment he remembers, he'll go back to his hyper frightened ways. Hell, and add Mel and Chell to that list too, I may not know where either of them are, but we're a team together, and dammit, that means something!
Just as I finish my though, I shoot a light purple Portal across the room as the cube flies toward it. The cube goes through and comes out of my dark purple Portal in a different end of the room, quickly I have to shoot another light purple at a wall really close to the dark purple one. AS WELL AS shoot the dark purple at an even DIFFERENT part of the room.
SUCCESS! "Take that you stupid fucking BiTCH! HA! I beat your damn puzzle!" I shout at the speaker the BiTCH likes to talk through. As I finish shouting, the cube lands where it's supposed to, which is a tiny cave sort of extra room which has ONLY a button in it. The button activates and opens up the door beside me, the exit door, which is right beside the entrance door I might add, yeah, a room as big as the fucking citadel and all I get to do is stand on a singular small ledge and do everything from over here. Not too hard, but still pretty stupid.
I go through the door and step in the elevator, the BiTCH says something else about how Gil did either better or worse than I did in the same room as me, really I'm not paying enough attention to know what she's saying.
But after a short ride I end up in a new room, this one is labeled 11 in giant numbers on some stupid billboard. Don't think I can read do you? Well too fucking bad, I'm literate you stupid whore. But anyway, before I get sidetracked I've got to continue. The chamber I walk into this time is at least more than a single room, there's actual leg room to walk around. Plus it doesn't look like it's in as good of condition as the last room, with a loose wall panel or two. There's also a blue sunlight bridge flowing off of a panel sticking out of the wall. At least it isn't turrets, those things are assholes, good thing I'm always on high alert, I can't dodge those things bullets for half my damn worth, not like my sister.
That loose panel emitting the sunlight hard bridge is worth investigating though. It looks like there might be something behind it. I walk towards it and the BiTCH chimes in.
"Another human frailty I enjoy is how easily they burn from the suns rays. For a completely unrelated reason, I'd like you to touch your face to the Hardlight Bridge you're currently walking across. It's the colour blue, so it should feel like water."
It doesn't take me two seconds before I'm red in the face.
"FUCK YOU, YOU BITCHWHORESLUTFUCK! I'm NOT touching the sunlight bridge! STOP suggesting I kill myself!" This makes her fourth attempt to convince me to kill myself, the first three being; the acid goo tastes like caramel, whatever that is, I should drink it, that my huge drop boots don't actually do anything and that I should take them off, and also that the lasers won't cut off my arm, and that I should slowly try to test that out for myself.
I'm ASHAMED to say that the laser thing ended up actually happening. Not because I tried it on purpose, but that bastard cut at least half an inch into my left arm just above my elbow. Good thing that laser cauterized the wound; otherwise I'd of bled out by now. Still hurts like a motherfucker too, and it happened like 20 minutes ago.
I walk over to the loose panel and look behind it, what I find surprises me.
It surprises me in the fact that I expected something and got nothing. I don't know why, but I was half expecting some sort of message written on the wall saying "escape hatch, go this way" and then there'd be an arrow pointing some direction. All I got though is some small backroom with parts of the wall being all rusty and stuff, and a hallway leading to the left. I follow the hallway up some stairs and just down a hallway. This hallway is rusted out too. At the end is some kind of office with a window that watches another test. I grab an old chair that's in the office with me and attempt to smash the glass window watching over the room. I try about four or five times before I give, I mean not only is the chair a bit heavy, the glass only cracks a tiny bit, what's this crap made out of? Iron? Giving up on breaking through the window, which isn't a smart idea to begin with if I stop to think about it, I head back down the hallway.
The first thing I notice is that a piece of the rusty left wall has fallen down, I probably should have noticed this sucker make a sound when it hit the ground, since it was in fact part of the wall when I came up the hallway moments ago. But I'm guessing it happened as I was banging on the window. Actually, it probably fell off the wall BECAUSE I was smashing at the window. Looking at the hole in the wall, it's fairly large, I'd be able to fit through it if I tired. It'd be a bit impulsive to stick my head through the hole and look around, but I've just got to, to see if it's worth it to escape these stupid test rooms and go rescue everyone.
Dammit, I just know some sort of laser is going to fire as soon as I poke my head through the hole to take a look, but this might be my only chance to save Charlotte. I'm conflicted.
"Fuck it" I say out loud before taking a look though the hole. I look to the right and see a foggy hallway, good news though, nothing's killed me yet. The bad news is that I hear some kind of electronic noise behind me, almost like a squeak, no, not a squeak, more like a low-pitched squeak. Hell, it doesn't matter what it is, I get back through the hole in the first hallway as fast as I fucking can!
I go back and grab the chair; I then return and wait to see if whatever made that noise is some sort of mobile tactical enemy. Slowly a robotic hand with three fingers reaches out of the hole. The hand continues to slowly extend forward to reveal an arm, the arm has wires and tubes and such, but what I notice most about it is the blue I eventually see. Everything else about it is silver, and grey. The arm stops extending forward. I'm cautiously waiting for it to attack or shoot me or something but that never happens, instead what happens is it waves at me, as if to friendlily say hello.
