He turned sharply, the magic that had clothed him dissipating in shimmering petals of white. His coal-black hair melted into lustrous strands of silver, his skin was akin to moonlight, and his eyes glowed an unearthly gold. He was dazzling, heartbreakingly beautiful, her heart fluttering as their eyes met.
Tears fell in fat tracks down her cheeks.
"Sesshomaru." His name rolled off her tongue, resting on her lips in a barely audible whisper. Her legs trembled under her, barely able to move more than a step. She reached out a trembling hand, the other pinned between her and the wall. Her vision blurred and shifted. Blinking, she struggled to see him clearly, her body struggling to make the necessary steps in his direction.
His name again fell desperately from her lips, a broken prayer made between moist pants. Her body was betraying her, crumbling against the wall with a groan. Everything hurt; then again, she had chased after him for hours without rest.
Even if she knew she was close to passing out, Kagome was desperate to reach him. A foreign need had clawed its way from her soul, aching and raw, fueling her desperate and needy desire to be near him. Her insides burned, the ache of her muscles seeming to be nothing to the need that could only be quenched by his touch. She couldn't understand it, nor did she try to fight it, allowing it to move her, even if it meant crawling.
His steps echoed, making her flinch, looking up with unfocused eyes.
His colors were blurring together, a mix of silver and gold. She reached for him as her mind grew hazy and her vision dimmed.
"Sesshomaru."
~o.O~O.o~
Gold fell against sapphire, his inside warming even as dread gnawed at his mind. He needed to turn, to walk away and as far from her as he possibly could, but he couldn't make himself move. Kagome's gaze, a beautiful sapphire, captivated him and entranced him to stay. But he stood firm, unable to decide whether to run away or to her; he was hopelessly powerless against her.
His heart raced in his chest as their eyes connected, piercing him with their deep blue hue, and his skin prickled with the delicious aroma of her. His resolve weakened with every breath he took.
He resisted, knowing the danger that came with being near her.
But as she spoke his name, it melted his resolve. Without a thought, Sesshomaru took a step forward, unable to stop himself. His body moved of its own accord, drawn to her like a moth to a flame. He began to walk forward, slowly moving toward her as though he was under some kind of spell. Each step drew him nearer, sounding like thunder in the silence, until the gap between them almost disappeared. His hand rose as though it was of its own volition, reaching for her.
But just as he was about to reach out and touch her. He hesitated, his hand hovering in mid-air. He knew he should turn and run, but he couldn't bring himself to do it. He was trapped between his desire for her and his fear of repeating the past.
He attempted to fight the pull of her and take a step back, yet his body wouldn't cooperate.
Kagome ended the internal battle for him, weak and near unconscious, her hand flying out and catching hold of his wrist. Her touch was like fire, searing into his being and igniting his soul with a desperate need. He burned for her, starved from centuries without her.
He couldn't resist any longer, and he drew her into his embrace, burying his nose in her hair and savoring the feeling. He had been in so much pain, so much sorrow, but at that moment, it all disappeared. It was the first time in centuries that he had been able to exist without the pain that ripped into his heart.
"Kagome."
wolfYLady: It has been forever and a day since I posted this idea. I had a lot that I wanted to do with it but was unable to get into the mindset that I was looking for in this story.
I hope you've enjoyed this, hopefully, I'll be able to write more but time will tell.
