Chapter 6: Luchando Contra La Lechuza
Now alone, Danny attempted to make his way through the house.
"Okay, I'm go-" He then stopped when he recalled something. "Wait… I should check to see where Myrtles is…"
The ghost boy kept his guard up as he hid behind some curtains. He turned invisible and attempted to make his way to find Myrtles.
As he walked slowly, heading down the hall, La Lechuza jumped into view.
Snarling and seemingly looking down at him, La Lechuza remained still as Danny slowly stepped back.
"I can see you…" She said, having a menacing tone in her voice.
Danny's eyes widened.
"You can?" Danny asks.
"I heard the woman who lives here speak of a "Danny Phantom"... I knew you were this child the moment you entered." She said flatly.
"Y-You did?" Danny asked, shocked to have heard that.
"Indeed, I can sense the energy coming off of you. Whether you too use magic or are some kind of union of a human and a spirit breeding, it matters not… what does matter is you are no longer going to get in my way!"
La Lechuza raised her claw and attempted to slash Danny, forcing him to jump out of the way and regain visibility to avoid her attack.
"I'd morph, but I can't risk it until I know where Myrtles is…" Danny said to himself.
Meanwhile, outside
As the danger continued in the Williams home, people were noticing the chaos happening there.
Soon, several police cars arrived and lots of cops surrounded the house.
Police Chief Boyle stepped out of his cruiser and saw the chaos.
"What in Sam Hill?" He shouted as he and his fellow officers tried to approach the house.
However, upon seeing the shape of some giant bird in the window, he soon realized that right now, they should focus on public safety.
"Chief, what should we do?" One of his junior cops asked.
Chief Boyle wanted to go inside, but he also knew that their priority right now is to protect the people in the area.
"Right now, let's make sure that no one gets hurt in the surrounding area..." He ordered.
The younger officer he was with then nodded.
"Everyone back!" One officer said.
"My boyfriend is still in there!" Star pointed out as she pointed to the house.
"So's my boss! Not that I care for his safety, he just hasn't signed my paycheck yet." Erin said, also pointing at the house.
"Stay here, it's too dangerous!" Boyle said before recognizing someone. "Wait a minute… Jazz Fenton?"
"Hi Chief Boyle. How's Susan and Carl Junior?" She asked.
"They're fine, but what are you doing here?" Chief Boyle asked before a thought came to him. "Wait, don't tell me your folks are involved with this?"
Jazz shook her head.
"Nope, they're still hiding..." She explained.
Inside
The house gained a new set of holes in its floor as Danny rolled away.
"Where's that coward?" He asks.
La Lechuza flew at him, claws ready. Danny ducked out of the way in time as he managed to run for it.
Seeing a closet door, Danny opened it and entered.
Upon getting inside, he saw a certain box.
"Wait… isn't that the box with our stuff?" He asks as he reached in and grabbed something. "Sam must've grabbed the wro-"
His thoughts were cut off as he was pushed out.
"Get out of here! This is my hiding spot!" Myrtles shouted as he shut the door.
It took a moment as Danny realized what just happened.
"Guess he just gave me my cover…" He said as he ran for it.
He ran towards the giant owl who turned her head to glare at him.
"I will tear you limb from limb!" La Lechuza shouted.
Danny glared at the ghostly bird with all he had and clenched his fists.
"I'm going ghost!" He shouted as he morphed into his heroic ghostly half.
La Lechuza wasn't intimidated at all, just turning to match the direction her head was.
"So, you have finally shown your true form. No matter, I will destroy you in any form you choose!" The monster owl said before letting out a piercing screech.
Danny covered his ears before flying back.
"I guess that's her idea of a battle cry..." He said as he flew in with his fist out.
He punched the giant owl, sending her into the wall.
"You will pay for that!" La Lechuza said as she screeched again and then dove at him like an owl after a field mouse.
Danny managed to avoid it by phasing through the floor before coming back out once she passed, firing at her back.
The bird monster flinched in pain before she continued to fight in an almost animalistic sort of way.
She attempted to peck at Danny, but Danny responded by bobbing to his left, then to his right, which was followed by a roundhouse kick to the head.
"I'll tear your eyes out!" La Lechuza said as her eyes and claws began to glow a bright red.
Before Danny knew it, the furniture raised into the air, all of it aiming at him.
"I forgot… she knows magic too. Just my luck..." Danny muttered before creating a shield to protect himself.
He remained on guard as he waited for the dust clouds to clear and see all of the furniture was in pieces.
Oh… I'm guessing we're never getting invited back here… He thought.
He lowered the shield before noticing La Lechuza flying at him.
She swung her claw, scratching his arm before he had a chance to react. Hissing in pain, he pulled back, holding onto his injured arm a moment.
La Lechuza attempted to slash him again, only for a blast of cold energy came out of his eyes, hitting her in the face.
As La Lechuza tried to claw the ice off, Danny looked around.
"Better get her out of here before this gets worse…" He said to himself.
Danny soon spotted the statue. He then got an idea.
She did seem super protective of that thing. He thought.
As soon as the giant bird freed herself of the ice, she saw what he was trying to do.
"Get away from that thing!" La Lechuza shouted as she came running at him.
However, Danny was quick and managed to avoid her as he jumped and rolled out of the way. He also chose to take the statue with him.
La Lechuza ended up flying into the wall, breaking through it.
"Sorry… you missed. So, I get the prize." He said, presenting the statue to her.
"My statue?!" La Lechuza shrieked angrily.
"Looking for this?" Danny asked as he tauntingly shook said statue in his hand.
La Lechuza grew more furious.
"Give me that, it is mine!" She shouted.
"I'm guessing you don't want this broken… so…" Danny said.
He attempted to crush the statue, only to find he couldn't seem to. He struggled, trying his hardest to press his hands together, but nothing was happening.
It took a moment, but La Lechuza realized he couldn't break it. She laughed in mockery and relief.
"You can't destroy it, can you? Hand it over then…" She insisted, holding a claw out.
"Not happening, worm breath..." Danny mocked as he flew away, phasing out of the house in the process.
An enraged Lechuza followed after him, ready to tear him apart and take back that statue.
"Give that back! And owls eat mice!" She shouted angrily.
Meanwhile, at Fenton Works
Jack and Maddie were still hiding, but they were getting bored. The Fenton patriarch decided to pass the time by chatting.
"You ever think what would happen if our son dated a girl as old as Jazz, or a year older than him at least? Obviously different, like one with green eyes, or one with blonde hair in primary colors?" Jack asks absentmindedly.
"Why in the world would you think that?" Maddie questioned with a baffled look.
"Spitballing here…" Jack said as he opened the Fenton Stockade.
"Jack… you can't seriously think we can hide here forever, can you?" Maddie questioned.
"I don't think we'll need to. Boyle will probably lose interest at some point so it makes sense to wait it out…" Jack said before his phone went off. "Oh, hold on…" He saw it was his daughter in a video call and answered. "Hello?"
Seeing his daughter, Jack didn't realize how panicked she was.
"Uh… Dad?" Jazz went.
"Yes, Jazz-a-rincess?" Jack asks.
"I'm at Georgia's sister's…" Jazz said.
"And?" Jack asks, hoping he'll be called to help.
"Chief Boyle is here…" Jazz whispered.
His grin gone, Jack felt his blood turn cold.
"How did he even find y- I'm not here!" He panicked.
"Oh? You're not there?!" Boyle, who now appeared behind Jazz, asks with an eyebrow raised.
"I-" Jack froze up, taking a moment to figure out what to say before he gave in to trying to act civil. "Hello Boyle…"
"Hey, Jack! How's it goin' there? Selling robot coffins to vampires, huh? That's lots of fun…" He said with a faux-friendly tone. "Hey, so… I wanted to let you know… that uh… YOU BLEW A HOLE IN MY CAR AGAIN!" He suddenly shouted in rage.
"Uh...well...um...business has been good...sort of. But… your car… that is the cost of driving close to our house. You should know that the people behind making windows in Amity Park should really make something ghost proof. There's a lot of risk in our neighborhood…" Jack said with a nervous smile.
"You're seriously blaming the guys who make windows for recklessly using those super guns of yours? I have half a mind to send the SWAT team on you and that wife of yours. The other half wants to have you pushed through that hole to monster land in your basement…" Boyle said angrily.
"Heheheh… push me into the Ghost Zone… you're a funny man…" Jack said nervously.
Before Boyle could respond, the piercing screech of a bird alerted him and the officers to something leaving the house.
Everyone was alarmed as they saw Danny Phantom being chased by La Lechuza.
The other cops turned to the chief for guidance, as Boyle nodded to his officers.
"Follow!" He ordered. As his men followed orders, he looked into the phone again. "You'll be hearing from me tomorrow…" He said with a growl before heading to the police car with his partner.
"Uh… bye!" Jazz went before hanging up.
Once done, Jack and Maddie shared a look.
"We could go bust that ghost kid and that big chicken." Jack said.
"And run into Boyle?" Maddie questioned the obvious bad idea.
Jack's eyebrows raised.
"Okay… fair point." He said before sealing himself into the Fenton Stockade.
Meanwhile
Danny kept flying as fast as he could.
Looking back, he saw a furious giant owl following, talons ready.
"I will rip your skin off and bathe in your blood!" She screeched in anger.
"You seriously have issues, Tweety…" Danny muttered as he sped up.
Gotta figure out how to get rid of this thing. He thought as he looked around for anything that could help destroy this statue.
He soon noticed a nearby metal factory, complete with molten steel and large containers full of it.
"That'll do..." He said as he flew towards it and phased inside.
"GET BACK HERE!" La Lechuza shouted as he followed him.
Ending up inside, he looked around and soon spotted what he was looking for.
A large vat of liquified hot metal.
"This should work." Danny said just as La Lechuza caught up with him after she phased through the wall.
"GIVE ME BACK MY STATUE!" She shouted at him.
"Oh, you mean this thing?' Danny asked mockingly as he threw said item into the vat.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" La Lechuza shouted as she tried to make a dive for it.
Danny fired a blast to keep her back, causing her to fall to the floor.
It was too late as the statue soon landed atop the molten steel. However, Danny noticed it sinking slowly, causing his smile to drop.
"I guess it's gonna take a while to melt that statue. I guess I have to keep Birdie here busy..." Danny said to himself
"YOU ARE GOING TO BE SHREDDED TO PIECES WHEN I AM THROUGH WITH YOU!" La Lechuza shouted as she flew directly at the ghost boy talons and claws extended.
In response, Danny ducked in time before flying upward.
"Too bad you can't grab it without burning yourself!" Danny said cheerfully.
"Care to see how wrong you are?!" La Lechuza said as she raised a claw.
It began to glow red as Danny saw the statue slowly rising up, parts of it melted but not enough to do harm to her.
"I don't think so!" Danny said, firing a blast to her face.
La Lechuza blocked the blast with her wing as she continued.
"It seems what you think is irrelevant." She said.
"That's where you're wrong!" Danny said as he fired a blast by swinging his hand.
He ended up hitting her on the claw, encasing it in ice and disrupting her spell. Danny then flew in to kick the statue back to the molten steel.
"No!" La Lechuza shouted, flying at him and using her claws to pin him to the wall.
"Get off!" Danny shouted.
"I'm going to tear your face apart! Piece by piece!" She shouted before pulling back to peck. "I'll start with your eyes!"
Her face was then hit with a blast of cold that formed ice that made it too heavy to hold onto Danny for long and fall to the floor.
"Should've done it faster!" Danny said playfully before flying down and doing an ax-kick to her body.
La Lechuza got up, swinging her face into the wall to shatter the ice. Once done, she screeched at Danny.
She once again tried to attack him with her claws, swinging as Danny pulled away from each attack to remove his face.
With each slash, he bobbed from side to side, avoiding her talons.
Screeching in anger, La Lechuza changed tactics. Instead, she kicked him in the chest, pushing him back.
Danny attempted to get up, but was met with her claw around his head, squeezing it tightly.
"I won't make the same mistake and let you use your eyes! Now I'll squeeze your head and feast on what pops out!" She said before cackling.
She then began to tighten her grip. Danny hissed before a smile came to his mouth.
"Aren't you forgetting something?" He asks, pointing behind her.
Turning her head, seeing the vat of molten steel, realization came to her face.
"MY STATUE!" She shouted in horror.
Letting go of Danny, she hurried towards the vat, only for Danny to quickly grab her claw and swing her away.
"Careful! Don't swim so soon after dinner, you'll get a cramp!" He said.
La Lechuza screeched in anger and tried to fly again, desperate to get to the statue. Danny, however, had other plans. He blocked her with blast he missed on purpose as it created an ice wall to block her and then hit her head with an ice blast.
The angry bird spirit screeched as she tried to break free from the ice once more.
"Aw, what's the matter? Caught a cold?" Danny mocked as he tackled her.
It was then she broke free in time. Angered, she pushed him off. Danny hit the floor, landing on his back.
La Lechuza was about to continue the fight before it looked like red electricity came off her.
"No! My statue!" She shouted before turning away and flying to the vat.
Danny, getting up, saw her now panicking as she reached into the molten steel.
Despite the pain that she hissed from, she pulled the statue out, holding it in her burnt claw.
A statue that was now 50% melted.
"Safe…" She said in relief.
Reacting fast, Danny fired a ghost ray at the statue. One that, upon impact, sent the object out of her grip. Hitting the floor, it broke to pieces.
The realization of what happened caused the giant owl to gasp in shock.
"Huh, I guess whatever coating or whatever it had worn off… breaking apart was easier than expected…" Danny said in amusement.
"NO!" La Lechuza shouted in anger and horror as more of the red electricity came crackling around her. She fell to the floor, shuddering in pain. "My power! I've lost most of the power I wielded that terrorized Mexico!" She said, pronouncing the country of her origin in the native tongue before seeing Danny approach her. "We will meet again!"
As she attempted to fly away, Danny pulled out a certain item he found in the house while looking for Myrtles.
"Not as soon as you might think!" Danny said victoriously.
He aimed the Fenton Thermos and fired. The beam hitting her back, La Lechuza was pulled in with a force too strong for her to resist.
"NO! NOOOO! I WON'T BE IMPRISONED AGAIN! NOOOO!" She screeched before her strength gave out and she was now a prisoner in his device.
Sealing the thermos shut, Danny smiled.
As he left the building, he saw the police cars coming in.
"Better go and give Star and the rest the good news…" He said before taking off.
