Chapter 7: A Contract's a Contract

The Williams sisters looked around their damaged home, feeling devastated by what they saw.

"It's in ruins…" Alyssa said with a disappointed look on her face.

She looked ready to break into tears as Star patted her on the back.

''At least no one was hurt..." Georgia said, trying to look on the bright side.

"My bank account doesn't agree with your attempts to lighten the mood…" Alyssa responded.

Before Georgia could respond to that, it was then that she noticed that someone was absent.

"Wait… where's Danny?" Georgia asks.

Phasing through the ceiling, Danny overheard the two. Thinking fast, he flew around the corner and morphed back to human form.

"Here I am!" Danny said, coming out.

''Thank goodness, I almost thought that ghost got you..." Georgia said, relieved.

"Nah, Danny Phantom took care of it... and he put used my dad's Thermos for the job." He said, holding the cylindrical device in his hand, shaking it as to show La Lechuza was now a prisoner in it.

As everyone sighed in relief, one was distracted by another's absence.

"Where's Mr. Myrtles?" Alyssa asks.

"Did that bird thing eat him?" Erin questioned with a tone that didn't sound so sympathetic.

"Oh no…" Danny walked over to the same closet as before. "... he's right here."

Swinging the door open, he presented the cowardly man hiding.

Looking up and seeing everyone glaring at him, Myrtles' eyes darted around.

"It's over now? I was… just about to make my move…" He said with a tone that was dishonest.

"To the exit, you mean…" Erin said flatly.

"You shut up! You thought I'd step out while that thing was out?! No one is willing to be that brave as to be out when that thing was!" Myrtles shouted.

"Clearly, this boy did. He stayed inside to rescue you." Erin said.

"And he pushed me out to save himself." Danny said.

"You did what?!" Jazz shouted in protective big sister mode.

Myrtles could only shrug sheepishly in response.

"I… was simply preparing to whack that thing with… uh… the coat hangers! Yes!" Myrtles said.

Everyone else stared flatly at this poor claim of a plan.

"Coat hangers? Really?" Sam called out.

"Well… not like there were shower curtains in there." Myrtles insisted.

"What were you gonna do? Swing those things and hope the pointy parts hit the eyes?" Star asks with an edge in her voice.

"Uh… maybe?" Myrtles responded before noticing Alyssa. "So... any chance we can talk over dinner?" He asked in a faux-suave tone.

"Aren't you forgetting something?" Alyssa asks, gesturing to the area.

"Oh... that's okay. You can keep by equipment... it's broken anyway." Myrtles said in a dismissive tone.

"I meant the house!" Alyssa shouted.

"So... no to dinner?" Myrtles asks.

"What a creep. I can't believe that we were going to pay this moron $5,000!" Alyssa said, arms crossed.

"Were gonna? Are gonna!" Myrtles said, losing his faux-suave attitude.

"Not gonna..." Alyssa said, looking upset.

"Yes, and I do believe that you owe us thousands of dollars more worth of damage to the house." Georgia said, glaring at him.

"I'm not paying for that. It was the ghost's fault, not mine..." Myrtles said.

"That ghost only caused this because of you! I can't believe I find you handsome..." Alyssa said.

"Found... past tense..." Georgia said.

"I know what I said... not proud of it, but I know it." Alyssa said.

"What are you gonna do? Sue me?" Myrtles asked sarcastically.

"Yes, we will. You'll be in so much legal trouble that your grandchildren will be paying for you..." Georgia said angrily.

Myrtles scoffed at this.

"You're just a maid and besides that, I haven't done anything involving angering a ghost that could be proven. Even if I did, it's not like you can afford to pay a lawyer to handle me..." He said snobbishly.

Georgia frowned before smirking.

"I may be just a maid, but I do know that you have projectors of a fake ghost that can be proof you're a fake..." Georgia said.

"And I can vouch for them." Erin said, standing with them.

"Also, my finances are no issue as I know a good lawyer that can help me..." Georgia said while Star smirked.

"That so? Who?" Myrtles asks.

"My dad is a lawyer, and the best one in town. And I'm pretty sure that for Georgia, he'll be willing to take this case pro bono..." Star said

"You work for a lawyer?" Myrtles asked as Georgia nodded. "That's your boss?"

"Yes, and I already have plans to get in touch with him soon. He'll be in contact with you shortly as we fill him in..." She said.

That's when Myrtles smirked and pulled out a paper.

"Need I remind you... you two signed a binding legal contract. Allow me to remind you it specifically says that I am not liable for any damages to the house or anything inside for anything ghost related." He said.

"What?!" Star went.

"Oh... that's right..." Georgia said, her previous serious tone replaced with regret.

"That can't be!" Sam went.

"It's true. Not my fault an actual ghost did this." Myrtle said.

"It is! It only attacked because of you!" Star said.

"Do you actually think you can prove that? Is there any evidence that I actually provoked it? Even if it were to show up in court, I doubt it'd want to be under oath instead of causing chaos." Myrtles said smugly.

"I can't believe we ever dated. You're as awful as that giant owl." Erin said with her arms crossed in disapproval.

"Thank you... but flattery won't do you good. A contract's a contract..." Myrtles said.

"Oh yeah?" Tucker went as he tore the paper out of his hands and tore it apart. "HA!" He went proudly.

Myrtles only stared at him incredulously.

"Did you really think that was it? Tearing the paper doesn't undo the contract. And besides... I made copies of it, both for the sisters and back in my office. I even had it saved on my computer, both there and my house. It's like your only exposure to contracts is from old cartoons..." He said to Tucker.

Tucker's grin faded.

"Oh..."

"Sorry guys... but he's right. Legally, he's owed his money and he doesn't have to pay for any of this." Erin said.

As everyone else grew depressed by this, Star recalled the ghost in the Thermos and, smiling at an idea, whispered it to Danny, who smiled.

"Don't worry, everyone. I bet he'll wanna pay for the damages and accept no payment for his deeds... out of the goodness of his heart." Star said with a grin.

"And what makes you think that?" Myrtles asks as he crosses his arms smugly.

"Boo?" Star asks.

"Because if you don't... we're gonna ask Erin where you live... and have Danny Phantom..." He holds up the Thermos. "... drop off your new feathered friend, and brand new roommate, on your front door... for eternity!"

Myrtles' eyes widened despite his smile never dropping.

"Y-You wouldn't..." He challenged, trying to stay calm despite the fear in his eyes.

Danny kept his poker face on as everyone, even Erin, smiled at him as if to say they would.

"Your contract said nothing about dropping off a ghost at your place being against the rules..." Danny pointed out.

Laughing nervously, Myrtles dropped his arms and reached into his pocket.

"W-Will you take a check?"

After Myrtles signed the check, he gave it to Alyssa.

Once done, he marched towards the door, glaring at Erin along the way.

"Come on… you still work for me." He ordered.

"Not anymore… I quit." Erin said.

"What?! What about your money?!" He asks.

Erin threw the keys to the van in his face.

"There's not enough money you owe me that's worth working with you anymore." Erin said.

Picking the keys up, Myrtles scowled at her before turning away and leaving, slamming the door shut.

Once he was gone, Erin sighed in relief.

"You okay?" Sam asks.

"Yeah… guess it's time to dust off the old resume. Although, given how much he owes me… I may have to resort to fast food service…" She said with a notable disappointment in her voice.

"There's no need." Georgia said, pulling out a check.

It was handed to Erin, whose eyes widened.

"This is to me… and it's way more than what he owes me." Erin said in shock.

"I might've… lied and added a bit more to pay up what he owes you." Georgia said.

Erin smiled before she sighed bitterly, attempting to hand the check back.

"I can't accept this…" She said.

"You can and you will." Georgia said, pushing her hand back. "The least we can do for you helping the kids save us…"

Hearing that, Erin smiled warmly.

"Thank you." She said, holding the check close to her chest as she headed to the door, tears in her eyes. "Thank you!"

With a happy wave to them, she left through the door.

Once that was gone, Alyssa huffed at the sight of the damages.

Danny, feeling guilty, couldn't help but apologize to the William sisters.

"I'm sorry." He said.

"It's alright… it's not like you caused this. That big bird did most of the damage, Danny Phantom only caused a little more to stop that thing." Alyssa said.

"Heh… yeah…" Danny went nervously.

"Yeah… it's not like Danny here was actually the ghost kid and fighting that thing..." Tucker went with a chuckle, before Sam and Star angrily stomped on both his feet. "Ow!" Jazz slapped him in the back of the head. "Ow! The first was enough!" He went, massaging the back of his head.

Alyssa and Georgia paid no mind to this, only both deciding to make some calls to get the house fixed.

"A house can be fixed, but I'm glad no one was hurt…" Georgia said.

"Me too, Georgia, me too…" Star said.

"I will admit, I was scared you stuck around. You must really love the way I cook pie…" Georgi joked.

"Don't be silly… you're practically family. I'd jump in for you anytime…" Star said happily.

Georgia smiled warmly as she and Alyssa began making their calls.

Meanwhile

Myrtles was driving as fast as he could without getting a ticket.

Looking out the window, he saw a sign that said it was the home of Danny Phantom.

Scowling, he looked back to the road, very eager to get out of this town.

"What a bust. How was I supposed to know there was an actual monster in there? How the heck can a guy get ahead in life if he has to give back the money? Stupid ghosts..." He grumbled.

He stopped by a red light, fuming angry.

He didn't see two had spotted him down this dark road.

"Oh, a new face?" A grandmotherly sounding voice went.

"Fresh meat!" A dopey male voice went.

"Stupid town, this place isn't a goldmine, it's a death trap. If I never see a real ghost again, it'll be too soon..." Myrtles said bitterly, waiting for the light to turn green.

As it still remained red, one of the two voices presented himself.

"BEWARE! I AM THE BOX GHOST! GIVE TO ME THE BOXES FILLED WITH JUNK IN YOUR VAN OR YOU SHALL SUFFER MY CUBE-SHAPED WRATH!" The Box Ghost said in his usual overly dramatic way.

Unlike most people, Myrtles reacted with fear and pure terror.

"NO! NO, NOT ANOTHER ONE!" Myrtles screamed before he floored it, not caring that he ran a red light as he was desperate to get away.

The Box Ghost saw this and was pleased that he actually managed to scare someone for a change.

"HAHA! I did it! Awesome!" He cheered.

The second voice saw this and came out to congratulate him.

"Way to go, Boxy. I knew you had it in you..." The Lunch Lady said, happy for him.

The Box Ghost grinned happily.

Jebest4781: One chapter left, but at least they got money.

Invader Johnny: He has to send her to the Ghost Zone eventually.

danifan3000: True, but then again we never hear stories of ghost dinosaurs...

RonaldM40196867: Nope. Nope. Yes. Nope. Probably not.

pokemonfan1991: Those were meant to be Kim and Kara. Also, I was thinking more like Carl from Aqua Teen. You can almost see it as a reverse of Commissioner Gordon, being very unfriendly with Jack and Maddie.

JDF Legacier Morphicon: Right now I'm readying Danny and Violet. I like it so far.

Luiz4200: Yup.

Leonardo: Doing my best to, my friend.
