Chapter 24: Stay Away From Him
"Harry, I understand that Ron thinks Draco is trying to turn me away from dad, but he is sadly mistaken. I would never betray my father." Hermione said, glaring at Harry.
"You've been spending a lot of time with Draco and the other Slytherins. Including Snape." Harry said, folding his arms across his chest.
Hermione sighed. "I just think we shouldn't be enemies. Draco genuinely cares about me."
"Then why did it take him so long to ask you to the ball?" Harry asked.
Once again, Hermione sighed. "Draco wanted nothing but his father's approval. Lucius isn't quite approving of our relationship, because I am not pureblood. In the end, Draco decided to ask me anyway without his approval." Hermione smiled. "I am hoping with some encouragement by Narcissa, Lucius would come around to our relationship. I am the brightest witch of my age."
Harry listened to Hermione. From what he could tell, Draco hasn't harmed her. However, from what he heard from Ron and others maybe it was best for her to end the relationship.
"Hermione, I heard some things. From not just Ron, but others as well. Sirius even told me that Lucius Malfoy was a big supporter of Voldemort. He probably still is. And I overheard Snape telling Draco that Malfoy's father was, maybe still is, his best friend." Harry explained.
Hermione raised an eyebrow. "So their best friends, that doesn't mean anything."
"Well, if they are best friends like Sirius said, then maybe Snape is….." Harry trailed off.
"Stop it Harry! Severus isn't like that. He protects us! And Draco isn't a Death Eater!"
Hermione stormed off ignoring Harry calling for her.
