It was the Monday after Peter and Liz had fought that Charne guy and now school was abuzz with the students reacting to the fact that it Spider-Man and Firestar were a couple it seemed. "I knew it! How could the two be a boy and a girl working together and not get together!" stated one student in the halls smugly.
"Wasn't a guaranteed and what if they were sisters or just friends and partners? Just because the universe is set for the Love Square to prevail despite evidence in the contrary of that dumb cartoon doesn't mean that real life has to work that way!" stated another student.
Peter then saw the cheerleaders talking nearby in the hall and went and put his arm around Liz's waist; "So did you hear about Spidey and Firestar? Okay hard not to hear about it here but jealous of the webhead; if I wasn't taken then I would be hoping that I get to be rescued by her someday!" Peter said putting on a smirk as Liz just laughed and Sally shook her head.
"Don't worry Parker; Liz called me and said that she was just acting to distract the public from her actual real life. Don't think that Liz is so shallow to treat her fake relationship more than her real one." Sally whispered to Peter who felt flattered that Sally decided that she could at least assure him on this. Reminded Peter of how 2 of the main 'superheroes' on the Guys were in a fake relationship for the public and media; a TV show about a group of people banding together to fight the superheroes who were really just a bunch of destructive selfish not really heroic super powered celebrities out for themselves. He bet Jameson watched it and was the show's biggest fan; though if he did then he missed the point as he promoted his own deputised superheroes the Scorpion and Colonel Jupiter just like the heroes in the show did in-universe.
But still it felt weird; Sally knew Liz's secret and was trusted by her as her best friend to keep it which she obviously was. The only person that knew Peter's secret (in this universe anyway) were his girlfriend and he wasn't sure that he could trust Sally and Grady who were his close friends.
He knew them and they had kept secrets for eachother for a long while. Would he be able to trust people to know? How about his Aunt May? He had some time to think about it...
Liz, Sally, Grady and Debra were later gathered at an alley next to Peter's apartment building and they were all texted to meet him there except for Sally as Liz's text asked her to bring Sally. "If your boyfriend was going to tell us to come here Liz then he could have at least arrived on time..." muttered Sally shaking her head as Liz was wondering what was Peter planning.
"Why did he ask us to come here of all places..." Grady asked but then there was a web shot down at them making them jump.
"Is Spider-Man here..." Debra asked as they looked up and stared at Peter standing on the walls smirking with web-shooters on his wrists in civilian clothes. He then jumped down and landed perfectly in a Spider-Man crawling pose.
"A little invention of mine along with the webs. Thought that you all should know now." Peter said as they just stared at him except for Liz who was giggling behind her mouth.
"You were Spider-Man this entire time? It sounds like it shoudl be rediculous to consider but it does make a lot of sense now that I am thinking about it!" Debra muttered holding her head.
"Dude... All this time we have been reading and buying comics and now you're a superhero now!" Grady tried not to scream out as Sally was just shocked into silence. "Wait... Dude; are you cheating on Liz with Firestar? I mean Firestar is hot, no pun intended but you have a cheerleader girlfriend..." Grady asked as Sally just sighed.
"Liz; just show them..." Sally muttered as Liz grinned as she then activated her flame powers for a second before turning it off as Debra and Grady just stared.
"You're Firestar... Have you both known all along..." Debra asked as they shook their heads.
"We both only found out at the UN; had no idea that our superhero partners were eachother until then." Liz replied and Sally looked at her expectedly. "I discovered my powers and Sally was the first to know. The costume was her work." Liz explained and Sally looked proud of yourself.
"Can't believe that you of all people were Spider-Man this entire time..." Sally finally managed to say to Peter as he just grinned to himself. "Won't say anything but I still got my eye on you Parker!" Sally warned.
"Dude; will be hard but I am not saying anything!" Grady asked as Debra nodded as his eyes widened. "Wait... Dude! It's been you fighting all these villains all this time! My friend helped save the world and you took down old man Osborn! Man; that must be the craziest thing that ever happened to you!" Grady almost exclaimed.
"Second most really if Peter decides to tell you all about his story of being in another universe and finding that in another one that Flash was the Spider hero and one where he was dead but had been married to a hot cat burglar and had the Vulture as his father in law." Liz then said having Peter tell the entire story to her after they had found out their identities. Her arms were folded and it looked like that she was still not completely convinced about the story.
"...This I have to hear..." Debra said as Peter laughed thinking that this will make things easier.
This was to decided as I was getting my ideas in order to continue the fic when it occurred to me how in the Aftermath chapter I had Liz decide to have their alter egos be a public couple and yet there is the matter of Sally who knows that Liz is Firestar but not that Peter is Spider-Man.
I had seen the Playstation Showcase live on YouTube as I have done Nintendo Directs and I have to admit to being disappointed and was quite bored looking through it; I was surprised by the Helldivers II trailer (never even heard of the first one) but more because most of the trailer I thought that it was for a Starship Troopers game, that pirate cat game looked neat and I have to tell you that Insomniac really had me at the last chapter. I groaned thinking that it was all a waste of time as the gameplay reveal for Spider-Man 2 had me believing it was for some generic jungle game that I would forget about just like I had most of the other games in the showcase up until I saw who was unmistakably Kraven. They really had me there so claps for them; would still wish there was another non gameplay look at the Wolverine game but at least we got something more for Spider-Man 2 which I definitely am more excited for.
