Should i give up or just keep chasing pavements?
Even if it leads nowhere?
Would it be a waste even if i knew my place?
Days Later
"Da Da." Bridget said. Smiling happily. Lucas carefully placed her down and took her hand.
Brooke was slowly letting loose of the structure she had in place for Bridget's schedule.
This morning Lucas got her up. Gave her bath and got her dressed.
Now they were on the way downstairs to have breakfast.
Once they got to the staircase. He picked her up.
And she clung to him tightly. Ever since he returned. She had wanted to be around him as much as she could.
Whenever he went away she got upset. He wondered if him not being around for those months made a bigger impression then he realized.
He got out of his head. And choose to focus on daughter.
Getting her secured in the high chair and looking to see what he could feed her for breakfast.
He decided oatmeal with banana and strawberry.
He couldn't believe how much she was growing and changing already.
She had teeth now. And when he read to her she repeated words back. He wasn't going to miss anymore time with her. He wanted to be sure of that.
"Good morning Bridge. Good morning Lucas." Brooke said.
"Morning. I was just going to make breakfast for myself once i get her fed and into the playpen. Do you want me to make you anything.?" Lucas asked.
"Its okay. I'll get something on the way to work. The two of you enjoy you're day." Brooke said.
"Brooke i want us to start marriage counseling. As as possible."
"I miss us." Lucas admitted.
The expression on Brooke's face softened.
"I still have to figure that out. I'll book the appointment."
"You have you're first official AA meeting later."
"I just want you to focus on this new life." Brooke replied.
"What's the point of building a new life without you.?" Lucas asked.
Brooke swallowed hard. "I really need to get going." She replied.
"Ma Ma." Bridget said. Clutching Brooke's hair as her mom kissed her face before leaving through the kitchen back door.
Brooke got into her car started it. Clutching her steering wheel.
Laying her head down. Taking deep breaths.
On the passenger seat. Divorce papers she drawn up.
She placed them into the backseat. She glanced down at her wedding ring.
"Beautiful things die in Tree Hill." Victoria's voice echoed.
As Brooke drove away. Towards her store.
Sometime Later
The RiverWalk
While pushing Bridget in her stroller. He window shopped and immersed himself in the small town life he missed greatly.
"Lucas Scott. I thought that was you." A voice said. Which caused Lucas to turn around.
A smile came across his face. "Anna Taggoro. What a blast from the past. How are you.?" Lucas asked.
Anna smiled. Engulfing him in a hug. "Moved back to town months ago. Me and Darbie are married."
"Me and Felix haven't been in contact in years. Things with my parents have gotten alot better."
"We need to get our contact info out. Not just for us to reconnect as friends."
"I'm an editor. I work for a smaller press but our writers go far. I want to work with you."
"I've read you're books. You're too talented not to be working with a company. Unless you've moved on from that.?" Anna asked.
"Not at all. Its just my very recent issues. Won't cause problems? I wouldn't want you in trouble for taking me on as a client." Lucas asked.
"If my boss has an issue i'll fight for you as much as i can. I'm the last person to judge anyone. Here's my business card." Anna replied.
Lucas thanked her then watched as she disappeared into the crowd.
Lucas put the card into his pocket.
"My best friend returns!" Haley exclaimed.
Lucas made his way over and hugged her lightly. "You have the best timing. I've really missed you." He admitted.
Haley smiled up at him. "Lets sit down somewhere. Talk and eat. Can you believe it. Pregnant with twin girls."
"6 months. 3 more to go. How are you.? Are things improving between you and Brooke.?" Haley asked. Once they were seated.
