A few days had passed since the hunt with the brachydios, and Glenn was currently lying in the bed of the hunters shared hut, still unconscious from the unknown lightning attack his armour had done. Junko was at his bed side, constantly just wishing he would wake up as Sean went t report the news of the guild master.
"What happened to you, what did you do" Junko mumbled as she gripped the blonde hand. As soon as they had returned, Junko and Sean stripped him of his armour, handing it to the smith to look over as they took him to the hut.
But the smith couldn't find anything wrong with the armour set.
"I don't know how he was able to do it, a zinogre from what we all understand generates its lightning through its fur, but what allows it to be used is the skymerld, without that a zinogre wouldn't, be able to channel the lightning" the old smith explained.
"And honestly, if you added another horn and a skymerld, I would rank this capable of handling G-rank quests, tat boy sure knows his way around a forge I tell ya" he added as he turned to make some adjustments to the armour while they waited for Glenn to wake up.
And that was two days ago, and yet the blonde had yet to even stir from his slumber. The door to the hut slowly opened, reviling Lisara standing with a tray of food as she glanced at both hunters worryingly.
"Anything?" she asked, setting the food down beside Junko as the pinkette glanced up at her. "Nothing yet, we're hoping for some signs of improvements before we have to go to the guildhall" Junko explained as she grabbed one of the sandwiches form the tray.
"What do you think will happen?" Lisara asked as she took a seat on the opposite side of Glenn. "I don't know, I don't really want to think about what will happen if he doesn't wake up soon" Junko replied as her armoured hand caressed the blondes.
"He'll pull through, he always has" Lisara reassured her as Junko gave the girl a grateful smile in return. "I know, I should have more faith in him, but I'm still worried" she explained lowly as Lisara nodded.
"I'll leave you two alone, be sure to get some rest" Lisara said, lifting herself from her chair as Junko stared at her oddly. "This is the first time we haven't argued" she said as Lisara paused at the door. "We have more important things to worry about than are rivalry" the red head replied as she gave Junko a smile.
"I won't lose, even if you have tricked him into a date" she added as Junko smiled in return. "You'll have to try harder mortal" she laughed as Lisara left, laughing in return. As her laughter died down, Junko turned her attention towards the still sleeping Glenn, his face relaxed as she gently caressed his hand.
"No one has any idea what happened to him" Sean spoke up as he and Junko stood on the docks. Night had fallen as the two hunters had met up, Junko sitting with her legs dangling over the wooden peer as Sean leant against the wooden archway watching her silently.
"What do you expect, he was able to use a monster element, with his weapon, something like that should be impossible" Junko said in return as Sean glanced at his hand, the faint sparks running along his fingers.
"Weird things happen around him though" Sean pointed out, his eyes catching the large dragon circling the outside of the island. "Yes, but nothing ever hurt him like this did, what if the next time he hunts it kills him" Junko said, her eyes staring at her reflection in the water.
"We all could die in the next hunt, Glenn knows this" Sean replied, but the pinkette didn't respond. "Your worried about him being taken to the guild hall" Sean said as the girl silently nodded in return. "Don't worry, if I know that blonde, he'll wake up next time you see him" Sean said as he slowly turned away, leaving Junko to stare at the back of his head.
"How does he always know what to say?" he asked as Cha-Cha poked its head out of the water, giving her a bland stare from behind its acorn mask. "Oh shut up" she said as the little creature grunted in return, turning its attention to the night sky as Junko did the same.
With a sigh, Junk stood, Cha-Cha raising an none existent eyebrow at her as she smiled down at the green being. "I'm going to see Glenn" she informed him as Cha-Cha nodded, turning back to look out towards the sky.
He was an strange one.
He was running, that's all he could do, the roars echoing through the cave as he ran, the ground shaking as pieces of the wall fell, almost crushing him as he legs continued to move. His fear ran rampant, muscles burning but refusing to slow as it would mean death if he slowed down.
Another roar made the blonde flinch, his eyes just catching the sight of the large azure and gold monster chasing him, its wolf like head adoring sparking golden horns as the patch's of white fur sparked with blue lightning.
But the blonde could do nothing, he had no armour, no weapon, no back up, no traps, no way to defend himself if this monster caught him. Another roar was responded with a fear filled cry as the beats leaped forward, its right claw cackling with vicious sparks as he swung down towards the scared boy.
Pain erupted all across his nerve instantly, his body flying across the dimly lit cave as blood exploded form the three large claw marks now adoring his back. The blonde whimpered pathetically, his arms barely moving as he tried to stand, only to fall as the pain in his back overcame him.
A soft snarl, made the blonde turn his head, his eyes widening in fear as the large glowing blue eyes of the monster stared down at him, sparks running along its jaw, cackling across its deadly sharp teeth as it slowly lowered its head to him.
"...pup" it spoke, its voice seemingly booming into the scared blondes ears as he flinched back. "You tried to use my aura, my will, and yet, you know nothing pup" the zinogre snarled, its left claw pressing down on the blondes injured back, pain flowing from the blonde wounds as a few sparks cackled across his skin.
"Wh-what are y-you" the blonde stuttered his tainted blue eyes meeting the large monster as it pressed down harder, inciting more pain into his injured back. "I'm the will, the aura, the lightning that courses through ever storm hunter, you pup, have done something that only the storm hunter have done, you have channelled my will...to save that mate of yours" the zinogre said as he lowered its head to glare at the blonde.
"But I have not given you the right to channel my will, your body will never adapt to it, it will slowly kill you, even if you do not wear the skin of a storm hunter, the aura will sever your nerves and reduce you flesh to a chard corpse" the monster explained with a fang filled grin.
"N-no" Glenn stuttered, fear building inside him as the beats slowly pushed down harder on him. "But...you interest me" it added as Glenn glanced up, turning away as the beasts glowing eyes met his own.
"You taped into my will, my aura responded without my say, giving you the energy to battle the shelled one to a standstill, your use of my will was unrefined and crude, but it was enough to catch my attention" it explained with a grin.
"So I offer you one chance...show me that you have the right to use the storm hunters will, hunt the destroyer and prove your right to me" it said, lifting its claw away from Glenn's back as the blonde slightly, shakily stood to face the monster.
"The destroyer is awake, its mountain burns and you have been marked for death...hunt it, kill it, slay the beast that would see this world destroyed...and I will make you a storm hunter, there aura will be yours if you prove your strength in this hunt" the zinogre explained, its body slowly fading away as lightning sparks between the two of them.
"I will be watching pup...don't disappoint" its voiced faded as well, leaving a trail of sparks coursing across the blondes hand. The blonde could only stare at the azure bolds tracing across his skin, his mind racing at what he had just been told.
"What did I get myself into"
Junko sat by Glenn's bedside, the sun slowly crossing the sky as the hours went by. Sean had appeared once, informing her that a ship would be arriving early and they would have to transport Glenn the next morning.
Softly caressing her hand, Junko stared into his calm pale face, her only wish was to see those taint blue orbs again, a sight she wished would happen soon. Leaning her head against his chest, Junko could barely hear his heart beat the almost unnoticeable movement of him breathing as his chest rose and fell softly.
Closing her eyes, Junko wondered what would happen now, the day was coming to an end and if Glenn didn't wake up...he would be taken away, left with the monks and shaman of the guild to see what they could do.
Or find out why he was able to use the powers of a zinogre.
that thought scared her the most, the shaman weren't the most liked group[ within the guild...some even said they would gladly cut apart another hunt for weapon material if they showed signs of being a great hunter.
A small hitch of an intake in breath shook Junko form her thoughts. Her eyes widened as she looked up, Glenn's face twisting in pain as small pale blue sparks cackled across his arms. Junko jumped back in surprise, a few sparks racing across the blonde chest, his breathing picking up as his face twisted in pain.
Junko didn't know what she could do, her eyes not leaving the blonde as his body started to twitch, fingers curling, gripping the bed sheets as his jaw locked in a snarl, his throat releasing a pain filled growl as another wave of sparks erupted from him.
And all of a sudden, it stopped, the blonde shooting into a sitting position, his eyes widen in fear and pain. "Hu8h, what?" he questioned looking around for any sign of danger. Junko could only throw safety into the wind, her body already engulfing the blonde as she tackled him into the bed, openly crying into his chest, tears of happiness streaming down her cheeks.
"Junko?" e questioned, confused as to what had happened. The door to the hut was thrown open, confusing Glenn further as Sean stormed inside, his eyes widening as he spotted Glenn sitting with a crying Junko latched onto him.
"Glenn" he whispered, his muscles relaxing as a smile made it across his face. "I'm glad you're awake man" he said stepping forward as Glenn stared at him in confusion. "What happened?" he asked, his mind racing as to what was real right now.
"Your armour did something, the lightning you were generating knocked you out" Sean explained as Glenn's eyes widened, memories of his fight with the brachydios coming back to him instantly. "How long was I out, what happened" Glenn asked as he turned to Sean for answers.
"We almost lost you Glenn, we don't know how it happened, but we got you back and Lisara and the other medics patched you up as best they could, you were out for three days" Sean explained as he took a seat at the table.
"What about the zinogre?" Glenn asked as Sean blinked in confusion. "What?" he asked as Glenn shook his head. "No-nothing, my heads not right" Glenn mumbled, his memories of that dream coming back...but was it a dream?
"You okay?" Sean asked, his eyes trailing down to see Junko sleeping in the blondes lap, the amount of time she had spent awake at the blondes side finally taking its toll on her. "I...don't know" Glenn replied as he shifted in the bed, Junko resting more comfortably on his chest as Sean smiled at the two of them.
"Hay...do you know if we could kill Alatreon?" Glenn's sudden question caught the black haired teen off guard. "I don't think we could...that thing would kill us, it's not like Ceadous, its can destroy mountains" Sean replied as Glenn's gaze fell.
"Why the sudden interest?" Sean asked curiously as Glenn flinched slightly. "Just thinking, the volcano is one of our hunting spots, right?" Glenn replied nervously as Sean narrowed his eyes slightly.
"Yeah, I'll leave you two to rest, we need to got o the guild hall tomorrow, I hope you up to explaining everything to the master" Sean said as he left the room, the hut door closing slowly as Glenn sighed in relief.
His eyes lowered, going to his left arm as a few sparks cackled across his skin, his muscles twitching in pain as he heard the faint growl at the edge of his mind.
"Why me"
