CHAPTER ELEVEN - Avery and George's average day

George and Avery looked at the pan in front of them, both contemplating the dinner they just cooked.

"What do you think, Georgie?" Avery asked with a hand on her belly and the other on the younger twin's arm. "Do you think we will get food poisoning with this?"

He hummed in response as he tilted his head to the side and squinted at the almost burnt meat and vegetables. "If you look at it this way and squint a little, I think it seems normal" he answered optimistically.

"This is hopeless" she sighed and let out a chuckle. "At this point our cooking might do more damage to the baby than my mental health"

"What do you reckon we do then?" he looked at her just as she thought it over with scrunched up face. "Wanna go to the Burrow to have dinner? Mom wouldn't mind"

"It's probably for the best. I should probably ask Molly to give me some cooking lessons"

He snorted at her while he carefully led her to the living room. "It think it would best for you to stay out of the kitchen, love. You and I both should"

"Hey! I improved though!"

"Ehhh" George shrugged and made a so and so face. "I guess your cereals are quiet good" he finally said jokingly after much hesitation, earning a slap on the back of his head from Avery.

"As if you were any better" she sneered at him, then waddled her way towards the fireplace to get ready to use the floo powder.

"Shouldn't you be wearing a jacket or something? It's October, it's getting cold now"

"George, I'm fine. Jeez, don't worry. I'm going to the Burrow anyway, not outside" she waved her hand dismissively and stepped into the fireplace.

George carefully helped her climb in, making sure to put his hand on the upper part of the entrance of the fireplace so she wouldn't hit her head. As if he just heard a funny joke, he began laughing at her. "Oh wait, you don't reach"

"Fuck you, George" she happily told him with so much as two middle fingers. "Very mature"

"I could say the same to you, Avi" he offered her a small pot of green powder, which she took between her fingers.

"The Burrow!"

The uncomfortable feeling of traveling through the floo powder took over her body, though it didn't last long as she finally appeared in the Burrow, stumbling out of the fireplace. She would've face planted on the ground had Percy not been nearby.

"Oh hi Percy! Nice catch!" she thanked the older boy, who helped her onto the sofa.

"You really can't learn how to land properly, can you?" Percy reprimanded softly. He waved his wand towards her and the ashes were soon gone from her clothes.

"I can't help it. The belly keeps me off balance" she replied while pointing to her bulging belly.

"Percy, who arrived?" Mrs. Weasley asked from the other side of the room. The room smelled very delicious and a sizzling noise could be heard from where she was.

"It's Avery, mom!" just as Percy said that, George emerged from the fireplace with their bags and a smudge of ash on his cheeks. "And George!"

"Hi, Molly!" Avery greeted her, making sure to avoid the eyes of the newcomer.

"Hi dear! Wanna have dinner here?" Mrs. Weasley peeked from the wall of the fireplace, smiling happily at her.

"Yes, please! We burnt dinner" just as she replied, George took her face and turned it towards him.

"You stumbled out of the fireplace, didn't you?" George asked with a sigh. He put pressure on her forehead with his index finger and lightly pushed her.

"Percy, he is bullying me!" she turned towards the older man and held her arms around her belly in a protective manner.

"George, that's not how you should treat her. Be more delicate" Percy said tiredly. He got up from his spot next to Avery and helped her stand up.

George mimicked his brother with exaggerated facial expressions, then pushed Avery on the forehead again. "It's fine, Percy. Avery's head is hard enough to take a few pushes, see?" he pushed again and laughed joyfully.

Gasping dramatically, Avery kicked his shin. "And your shin is perfect for kicks, you ass"

Percy watched the two kids play with a very tired but satisfied look on his face. Just as the two were slowly escalating their teasing, he took Avery by the shoulders and slowly made their way towards the table, helping her sit. "Okay that's enough"

Avery stuck her tongue out towards George in a childish manner, then turned to Percy just as the younger twin settled on the chair next to hers. "How's work been going, Perce? You look awfully tired!"

"Well we are still dealing with a lot of paperworks. Can't really rest much"

"That's not good, you should rest once in a while" she smiled at him and affectionately touched his cheek. "Don't beat yourself up"

Percy looked at her with an expression of immense sadness, then at her belly before nodding. Avery opened her mouth to speak again when Mr. Weasley appeared through the door while Harry and Ron came from the upper floors.

"Oh hi Avery. It's nice to have you back for dinner" Mr. Weasley greeted her with a firm pat on her shoulder.

"We burnt dinner again" George informed them with a bunch of bean sprouts in his mouth, not even giving his mother the time to finish preparing the table.

Avery looked at him in disgust as she wiped the side of his mouth with her thumb. "Eat properly, Georgie"

"You burn your dinner almost everyday, might as well just eat here and be done with it" Ron shrugged while sitting on the chair next to Harry. "Hi Avery" he greeted his new sister in law and Harry did the same.

"How are you, Avery?" Mrs. Weasley asked, obviously very excited to ask about the baby. "Has he been moving a lot?"

"Oh very much! Sometimes he just wakes me up in the middle of the night to have a conversation" she happily informed them. "Wanna feel?"

Mrs. Weasley enthusiastically got up and rushed next to her. "Can I?" she hesitated for a second but as soon as her hand came in contact with her belly, she began shrieking excitedly. "Arthur, come here"

"He had been a lot restless recently. Didn't want to let Avery sleep at all"

"Definitely Fred's son. You and your brother wouldn't stop moving either when I was pregnant with you two. Sleepless nights were the norm for us" Mrs. Weasley shook his head with a nostalgic smile.

Mr. Weasley stood next to his wife and felt his grandson. "That's good, though. It means that the baby is healthy. Do you have a name for him already?"

"Here" Percy prepared Avery's plate and put it in front of her, before proceeding to eat his own.

"Thanks" she smiled, then bit into some potatoes in deep thought. "I haven't thought of a name yet, actually. I was thinking of letting Fred decide but maybe 'George' could be an idea or something?"

George looked at her in surprise. "My name for the baby? Are you sure?"

"Yes, of course! The idea of calling him Fred is just too weird for me" she flinched with a disgusted face.

"Yeah but wouldn't having two Georges in the house be weird as well" Harry asked.

"What do you think?" Avery asked Percy, who shrugged cluelessly.

"Not a bad idea but maybe it's better as a second name" he replied.

Avery nodded and shrugged as well. "I'll think about it after he's born. How's Hermione and Ginny? Any news?"

"They are already being put to work as if there was never been a war at Hogwarts" Ron chuckled as he elbowed Harry. "Lucky we don't have to go back"

"About that, Kingsley said that you two can start your training as Aurors in the coming month. Leisure time's up, boys" Mr. Weasley informed them. Now he was back on his chair next to his wife and was eating dinner.

"Are we going to participate in the search for the other supporters of Voldemort?" Harry asked.

"Not yet. It's too early for you two. I think your training will happen in the ministry under one of the aurors positioned somewhere safe"

Mrs. Weasley huffed. "They better be! It's too dangerous"

"As if we didn't do much worse" Ron whispered to his friend, who chuckled furtively.

Avery sat listening to them, her knuckles were now completely white from how tightly she was gripping her silverware. George noticed the sudden change in her and slowly took her hand in his, hiding them below the table. She looked at him with a forced smile, which he returned as he made patterned caresses on her hand.

By the time they were done, it was already way over 10pm so the duo gave their goodnights to the other Weasleys and went back to their flat.

George sat next to Avery on their couch as she caressed her slightly aching belly with a distant look on her face. "Are you okay?" he held her hand in his.

"Yeah" she whispered back, leaning into his embrace and taking in a deep breath to soothe the pain. "I just miss Fred"

"I miss him too" he confessed.

He began rocking her gently without another word, as he did most nights in hopes of lulling her to sleep.

"What do you think he's doing up there?"

He hummed in thought. "Probably having a blast with the Marauders"

"Typical Fred. I wonder if he already pissed someone up there" George chuckled at the idea and she followed suit. "He better be waiting for us or else I'm dragging him back here"

"I'll join you on that, love" he whispered back. "Wanna sleep now, Avi?"

Avery nodded against his chest while closing her eyes. "Yeah. I hope I won't sleepwalk again though…"

"It's okay, I'll be here" he reassured her.

When the morning finally came back, Avery found herself in her bed carefully tucked in. She gently held her hands onto her belly and groaned. "Baby, you are getting really heavy… We need uncle Georgie's help to get up…"

She lifted the covers off herself and took a deep breath, the pain she had been experiencing for the past few days was slightly stronger that morning. "Georgie!" she called for him like every morning and just as expected, he came running into her room looking like a mess. "Good morning, Sunshine!"

George rolled his eyes at her and carefully helped her up. "Do you really have to shout so loud every morning? You're lucky we have no neighbours upstairs"

"I needed help!" she groaned when the pain started subsiding.

"You good?" he asked worriedly.

She chuckled at him as she adjusted his jacket and his hair, completely ignoring his question. "You look ridiculous"

"I was getting dressed, Avi. Would you have preferred me coming naked?" he snorted when she made a disgusted face. He had noticed the way she was dodging his questions. "Are you coming down to the shop today as well? Shouldn't you stay here and rest instead?"

"You don't actually expect me to stay cooped up in here, do you?"

George sighed softly while scratching his head. "Fine, if you want to come down do it but please avoid carrying things or rearranging them or waddling around. You're 8 months pregnant with swollen feet"

"I don't carry them, my magic does and walking helps with birth. Molly said so!"

"Will you ever listen to me?"

"What do you think?" Avery smirked when, instead of answering her, he merely helped her out into the kitchen, where Angelina was busying herself with cooking. "Angie, what a pleasant surprise!"

"Good morning, Avery. How are you feeling today?" Angelina asked as she put a plate in front of the pregnant woman.

"Bloated but overall fine"

"You are not bloated, you are swollen" George joked, which earned him a slap in the back of his head. "I deserved that"

"I absolutely love your cooking, Angie" Avery said after a spoonful of food.

"Let me guess. Dinner at the Burrow last night?"

"How did you know?"

Angelina pointed at the trashcan with the burnt dinner from the night before. "Just a random guess"

Since George and her had been living together alone, home cooked meals weren't a luxury they could easily afford as both were the worst in it. Her coming just to cook was one of the advantages that came from her dating George.

"At least one of us had to know how to cook right?" Angelina winked at her while subtly pointing at the red head pouring himself some coffee.

"Yeah, no wonder Fred was so good at cooking, George sucks at it like me"

"How nice it must be to have a man who knows how to cook" Angeline sighed dreamily.

Avery dramatically put her hand over her mouth "Very sexy!"

"I guess I'll settle with the twin who doesn't know how to cook"

"HEY, I HEARD THAT" George growled from the sink, making the two women laugh at his reaction.

"You were supposed to" they said at the same time before laughing even more.

"I'm glad you two are bonding over my lack of cooking skills" he rolled his eyes as he sat on the opposite side of the two women.

He was glad to see that their bond was going well as he couldn't always be with Avery, so Angelina being with her was a good thing.

"At least I got the one with the brains" Angelina claimed proudly.

"Oh shit, I knew something was missing!" Avery sarcastically joked. "You know, Fred wasn't very bright. Like there was this moment when he came to me asking if I even fancied him! Bitch, you've been sleeping in my bed with me, been eating with me and I didn't even reject his first confession! Jeez, I was in a house only he knew how to reach"

"Yeah, that wasn't one of his brightest moments" George admitted. Right at that moment, Lee came apparating into the room with a bunch of paperworks in hand.

"Good morning, Lee. You're early today" Avery noted with a fork hanging from her mouth.

"Yeah about that. I noticed some mistakes on some orders we owled to some people and I came as soon as possible" he huffed while showing them to George, who frowned before getting up.

"I guess today's an early work day for me" George went to kiss his girlfriend and caress Avery's belly. "Behave"

"Arf" she responded back while rolling her eyes.
