Chapter 23: Wavelength
Only Kings/Queens are assigned a regalia, all other members can have their AT's tuned by whomever they chose. The kings/queens are given special tuners that can adjust the Air trecks to the riders' personal style and structure. Tuning is the process of adjusting the pitch of many frequencies to establish the intervals between frequencies for better optimization of the regalia. Tuning can take place anywhere.
However, the reason they were headed to Tool Toul To was that Kururu was going to use the pledge regalia. This allows the tuners attached to the regalia to repair and tune AT's with the skill and precision of the pledge queen. Myzuki and Kota were both intrigued at this. Over in the US there wasn't something like this. It was probably because Dr. Minami was unable to complete his work.
They arrived at Tool Toul To without any issues. They were greeted with Kururu at the entrance. Myzuki felt guilty for feeling jealous earlier. She seems like such a sweet and nice girl. Maybe that is why Ikki was so compatible with Kururu. She felt a twinge of jealousy of the thought but it also made what Kota was saying more relevant. She needed this tuning. It would help her relax and clear her head for the battle ahead.
Kururu gave them a quick tour and introduced some members of the team while on the way to the location of the pledge regalia. Everyone seemed nice and there were the occasional whispers because of Kota. There usually wasn't that many male tuners. Kururu introduced them to Rune. He's another male tuner and the second in command on the team. He was pretty excited to greet Kota and show him his many robotic attachments he made to his own body.
When they got to the pledge regalia, Myzuki and Kota were slacked jaw at the immense size of it; it appeared to look like a cross. It was actually also referred to as the pledge cross. It was currently in an opened position, which was split off into eight sections that appeared as crosses as well. The core of the regalia was referred to as the axis. They were able to see the link tuner equipment inside and while Kururu was explaining to Kota what to do, Ikki tapped her on the shoulder.
"Come one,"
He was leading the way for Myzuki to help her get into the seat in one of the sections. She followed suit.
"You have to get naked. Just leave your AT's on though,"
"What!?"
"Yes, it is more helpful if you don't have any barriers in between you and your tuner. This will help the process," Kururu explained.
She and Kota were already undressed and Ikki was heading over to where he was going to be getting undressed.
"Oh, I see. Well I guess if that is your suggestion than I'm ok with it,"
Ikki muttered something under his breath. He looked like he was sulking about something.
"It's okay Myzuki. I'll be a perfect gentleman," Kota assured her.
"Thanks," She smiled at him.
Kota helped her in and plugged in the link equipment to her AT's and Kururu had already did the same to Ikki. Kururu was at the axis and put on a pair of headphones.
"Access," Kururu commanded.
She activated the pledge cross so the core can replicate to let other tuners access the infinite scale. This infinite atmosphere enhances the tuners abilities, allowing the tuner to tune, repair, build, or destroy AT tech in an instant. The repair of an AT can vary depending on the severity of the damage or the complexity of the part. Similarly work on higher quality gears take more time. Kota grabbed a pair of headphones and put them on as well.
"Ring in," Another command.
This allows Kururu to synchronize with the tuners attached to the pledge regalia through song, which in turn enables them to use her higher efficient tuning abilities. In this moment, they were all on the same wavelength and then both tuners began.
Myzuki has never had such an intimate moment before. This was unlike anything she had ever experienced. She felt like her and Kota were one. There wasn't anything that they didn't know about each other when they were done. No wonder Kota felt this connection with her and if that was the case, did that mean that Kururu and Ikki had a similar connection? She was currently getting dressed when Kota made his way over to her.
"You okay?"
"Yeah, that was pretty intense,"
"Yes, it was. I believe this has been the best tuning yet. You should try them out,"
"I'm pretty excited to see what the difference is,"
"I think our teams should have a battle. No stakes or anything, just a good friendly battle to get us warmed up," Ikki interjected.
"That's a great idea. Let's make our way back,"
"Do you mind if I stay behind and learn as much as I can from Kururu," Kota asked.
"Oh, yeah that is great. Maybe we can start a tuner team in the states,"
Kota looked at her excitedly and gave her a quick peck on the cheek. Ikki looked irked. He was pretty sure that Myzuki didn't even realize that she had said "we". He really was hoping she would stay once all this blew over. He wanted to get things straightened out with her.
"I will bring the replicas over in a little bit with Kota. I hope that is ok," Kururu inquired.
Ikki and Myzuki both nodded in acknowledgement and made their way to the current base of operations. The moment they were outside they couldn't contain their excitement as they made their to up into the sky. They both smiled and laughed. They felt like little kids that just got that toy they always wanted.
"I wish this was all there was too riding," Myzuki smiled.
Ikki agreed. They jumped from rooftop to roof top doing while doing tricks between buildings. They left marks of their AT's in their wake in some form to prove that riding was all about having fun. They were almost there when Ikki stopped abruptly. Myzuki stopped to inquire what had happened.
"Hey, you ok,"
"Yeah," He gave her a goofy grin.
"Why'd you stop," She asked.
He got serious then. You could see a little hint of pink on his cheeks as he looked away.
"When we win and this whole thing is over. There are some things I want to talk to you about,"
"Um, sure," She had a sinking feeling she knew what it was. However, she needed him to focus and not be all-tense about things that were irrelevant. She rode up to him slowly and kissed him on the cheek.
"There's no need to be so serious, Ikki. Let's just go kick some ass," She grinned up at him.
She almost looked like a wolf with that smile. Ikki thought she looked like a predator like that.
"That's my line," he said.
She laughed then and took off to the next rooftop.
"The loser has to buy dinner for the winner for a week then," She yelled back.
"Hey, I'm broke as fuck,"
"Then you better get your ass in gear," She continued to laugh, as he caught up to her.
