Soon Roy and Beatrice went back to the sight and met up with Mullet.
"How'd it go?" He asked.
"We're out of time." Roy told him.
"You think that's a little trouble, wait 'til you see this." Mullet said leading them inside.
"What are we doing here?" Beatrice asked.
"Yeah what's going on?" Roy also wondered.
Mullet opened a closet door to reveal a bound and gagged Chuck Muckle who was mumbling angrily.
"You can't do this!" Roy said.
"It just happened." Mullet defended. "He was trying to kill the owls, what was I supposed to do?"
"You couldn't have at least blindfolded him so he wouldn't be able to see our faces?" Beatrice said.
"We have to get him out of here now." Roy said. "Before people start..." He looked out the window. "Showing up."
"Too late." Said Beatrice.
The people outside began gathering and the mayor showed up. "Now where's Muckle?" He wondered. "Maybe in the trailer." His secretary suggested.
Beatrice went out to stall them. "Hi Mayor Grandy."
"Is Mr. Muckle in there?" He asked.
"Yes, well no, actually, I'm Mr. Muckle's daughter Mary Myrtle Muckle he wanted me to let you know he's been delayed." Beatrice told him. "But everything's proceeding as planned and he just needs more time."
Back in the trailer Roy was looking for something.
"What are you doing?" Mullet asked.
"I'm looking for another copy of the environmental report." Roy explained.
He soon found what he was looking for.
Officer Delinko had also arrived and noticed the trailer.
"Bingo page five." Said Roy. "Yes."
Mullet saw Delinko. "Cop alert, let's go." They fled the scene.
Delinko knocked but no one answered so he went in.
"Hello." He heard the mumbling from the closet and decided to open it.
Roy and Mullet had safely made their way outside. "What are we gonna do?" Asked Mullet.
"You need to let these people know what's going on." Roy said.
"Not me." Mullet protested. "I can't be seen you have to tell them Roy."
Roy nodded in agreement.
Officer Delinko was untying Chuck. He took the tape off his mouth. "What happened?"
"I was abducted!" Muckle yelled.
"What's going on?" Asked Mother Paula as she and Curly came in."
"You get in some kinda fishing accident?" Asked Curly amused.
"The vandals they kidnapped me." Said Muckle.
Delinko found the paper. "Hold on everybody freeze." He said. "Something ain't right with your environmental report. It says there are burrowing owls here."
"Those holes were abandoned years ago." Muckle said. "There are no owls."
"This means your lot needs to be red-tagged and all construction has to be shut down." Delinko told him not buying his claim.
"I can explain all this later." Muckle told him. "But right now I have to get out there." He said before leaving.
The Mayor was giving his announcement while Roy found Beatrice.
"What's going on?" She asked.
"Follow my lead." He told her. She nodded.
Roy walked up to the stage.
"Who are you?" The Mayor asked. "Where's Muckle?"
"He's networking." Roy told him. "He'd like me to make an announcement."
"Alright." Said The Mayor.
Roy looked nervous. Beatrice gestured for him to talk. "Go ahead Roy." Said Mr. Ryan.
"Who likes pancakes?" Asked Roy. The people started speaking.
"Yeah me too." Roy told them. "And a pancake house in coconut cove would be nice. But not in this spot because somebody was here first and they still are. Little baby owls."
This got the people confused. "Owls?" They looked up in the trees.
"No, not up in the trees, but in the burrows you see around us." Roy told them. "And if you build a Mother Paula's here you'll kill them all. Now think about that as you chow down on your key lime pie pancakes."
Before anything else could happen a bulldozer was turned on.
"Oh no." Said Roy.
The one who started it was none other than Chuck Muckle. "Hello, Coconut Cove!" He yelled. "Welcome to pancake house number one hundred!"
He was about to start when someone stepped in front of the bulldozer. He stopped. It was Mullet Fingers.
"Get out of the way kid!" He yelled.
"You wanna bury those owls you gotta bury me too." He screamed.
"Me too." Said Roy as he walked up.
Beatrice also joined. "That makes three of us."
"We will not let you kill these owls." Roy told him.
Muckle stood up. "Ladies and gentlemen, these kids are a little misguided." He told the people. "They have no proof on any owls. You folks see any owls cause I don't."
"No." Said some people.
"There sure is owls." Curly whispered to Mother Paula.
"Why would they come out while everybody's here?" Mullet asked. "All we do is make noise that scares them." He said.
"Yeah. No wonder we don't see them." Roy said in agreement. "Maybe if we all just be quiet they'll come out."
Muckle just made more noise with the bulldozer. But suddenly it was turned off by another man. Officer Delinko.
"Go ahead, Roy." He said.
"Why don't we try it." He suggested. "Let's all be quiet for one minute."
"This is absurd." Muckle said, but wat ignored.
"Okay, everyone ready?" Roy asked. "Go."
Everyone got quiet and soon the owls began appearing.
Beatrice tapped Roy's shoulder. "Roy, look." She pointed at an owl.
Everyone was astonished one by one owls were popping up everywhere.
"You were right." Mother Paula said to Curly.
Officer Delinko decided to arrest Chuck Muckle. "Put your hands behind your back, please sir." He said as he cuffed him. "You're under arrest for violating state permits, operating a bulldozer without a license, animal cruelty, and a whole lot of other stuff."
Everyone clapped at Muckle's defeat. The owls started leaving.
Soon Mother Paula made her way to the stand. "Ladies and gentlemen of Coconut Cove, I would just like to say that I Mother Paula am simply shocked at what's happened today." She said before pointing at Muckle. "And you sir, are no longer an employee of Mother Paula's. You're fired."
Everyone clapped and cheered.
"You can't do that, I'm the one that does the firing, she's only an actress." Muckle said but again was ignored and booed at.
"And, Mr. Mayor, I would like to donate this land to your town as an owl sanctuary." She said.
Everyone clapped and cheered even louder.
"Can she really do that?" Beatrice asked Roy.
"She just did." Roy told her. "And on live TV."
"Mother Paula that's a grand idea." The Mayor said. "Folks doesn't that sound like a grand idea?" He was answered with cheers.
"I assure each and everyone of you that my office is going to launch a full investigation, on how the presence of these fine little creatures, was over looked." The Mayor told them. This led to more cheering.
"Take him to the squad car." Delinko ordered his fellow officers who took Muckle away. He went up to Roy.
"Roy I knew you were alright." Delinko told him. "And thanks for this." He said holding up the owl paper. "It'll come in handy at trial."
"No problem." Said Roy. "I couldn't have done any of this without Beatrice and Mullet Fingers." They noticed Mullet was gone. "Where'd he go?"
Roy's parent's and Mr. Ryan came up to him with and the people started chatting amongst themselves about the current situation.
