A/N - Hi everyone, I'm finally back after 4 years with chapter 6 of Replacements Bring Revenge. I'm really sorry for such a long hiatus but i feel like I've finakktngotten back into writing...
I was supposed to start this up again last year but unfortunately in the last year I wasn't diagnosed with cancer and as a result I've had to go through chemotherapy.
Thank you for being so patient with me, here's the latest chapter and as always, please continue supporting this story and leave reviews.
Normal POV
The guile was silent and empty, small rays of the morning sun shone through the windows, illuminating the building. The old rustic doors had been left wide open and inside sat the twin dragonslayers.
"It's so early," Sting moaned, "why did we tell them to meet us so early."
"If we're to train both Lucy and Wendy, we need to take advantage of every passing day," Rogue replied bluntly as he fought to stifle his yawns.
Sting opened his mouth to argue back but was cut short when he heard footsteps approaching. He looked up and couldn't help but stare as the blonde mage walked towards them, followed by the blue-haired dragonslayer and her exceed. Rogue quickly noticed Lucy's silence which contrasted greatly with her two companions who were deep in conversation. Rogue and Sting stood up to greet their new comrades.
"Sorry to call you out so early but we wanted to get a head start in training together, if we're going to be a team we need to learn how to work together, especially with the Grand Magic Games starting up in just 9 months time." Rogue told the ex Fairy Tail members. "We're set on winning." He quickly added.
"I understand Rogue-san!" Wendy replied, "We will work as hard as we can!"
Lucy smiled down at her sister lovingly, admiring her passion, but as soon as she noticed Sting watching her, her face turned blank once again.
Sting's POV
I watched as Lucy's face lit up at the words of the young dragonslayer, in that moment I quickly understood why they had adopted the sisterly title despite the lack of a biological bond between the two. The celestial mage smiled lovingly down at Wendy and I found it made my heart stir, but I wasn't sure why. However, as soon as her eyes caught mine, she turned stoic, it was as if she was a new person entirely.
I sighed, "shall we go then?" Despite my annoyance, Rogue was right, the Grand Magic Games weren't far off and ignored the two intend to participate, they're going to need training.
Rogue and Wendy set off alongside Charle, the two seemed to have bonded with Rogue already which brought a small smile to my face. "Who knew all it took was a baby dragonslayer turn that guy soft?" I thought to myself. Rogue turned to glare at me, as if he had heard my thoughts, before lowering his voice to reply to the young girl. I laughed nervously and turned my attention to Lucy.
Lucy's POV
I checked for my keys and as soon as I confirmed they were hanging securely, I made my way out of the guild, following my new partners. All of a sudden, Sting grabbed me by the arm, but flinched and let go as soon as I turned to face him. He stared at his hand and frowned deeply, I raised an eyebrow at him in question. He looked at me with a strange expression burn returned to normal as he spoke.
"Hey Blondie, walk with me, we need to talk." He stated.
"What was that all about?" I thought to myself. I considered catching up with Wendy and Rogue, but something in the tone of his voice sounded odd, so I waited for him to gather his things before leaving.
I glanced at him as we walked and felt my cheeks warming as I took in his side profile, his face had turned serious and his brow wrinkled as he struggled for words. It was oddly cute. Pink flashed in my mind and I felt my heart tighten, "why is it always him?" The thought echoed in my mind as I pushed the image of salmon coloured hair out of my head. "Focus on the present." I told myself.
Sting's POV
I grabbed Lucy's arm but as soon as I did, I felt an immense amount of power that caused me to flinch in reflex. I hadn't never felt anything like it before yet it felt strangely familiar. But when she stood in front of me the way she was now, and when I'd touched her back when we first met, I hadn't felt a thing.
Lucy turned to face me, quirking a brow, drawing me back to reality as I remembered why I had stopped her in the first place.
"Hey Blondie," I started, "walk with me, we need to talk." I grabbed my stuff and lead her out of the guild, following behind a Rogue, but ensuring we were several feet behind the others so even they couldn't hear us.
I kicked a rock as I walked beside her, suddenly feeling nervous about what it was I had to say. I quickly glanced at her and noticed her face was slightly flushed, I guess normal mages don't take the heat as well as dragonslayers do.
"About the Grand Magic Games," I hesitated before continuing, "Fairy Tail will be taking part this year."
She stopped in her tracks and looked at me sheepishly. "Ah..they never told me, but I suppose that's because they assumed I wouldn't be joining them."
"What makes you say that?"
"They didn't want me to join them, they told me I was too weak to stay on their team." Hurt flashed across her face, her hands tightened into trembling balls of anger as she looked up at the blue sky that stretched above us.
"You don't have to take part if you aren't rea-"
"Revenge, Sting. I want this. I want them to acknowledge my power, my strength, I want to hurt them the way they hurt me."
For a split second I felt that surge of power eminating from her once again, I grinned at her in response.
"We can finally beat Natsu Dragneel." I told her. Rogue glanced back at me, smiling slightly. I suppose he heard us after all.
A/N: Sorry for the short chapter, I hope to update soon, let me know how you found this chapter! Thanks for reading :)
