AN: Sorry for taking so long to upload another Chapter. I have been having writers block, and then I needed to edit the chapter since it was difficult to read when I was rereading it and the website isn't letting me upload the document from my computers saved files. I tried to upload it for a week before I decided to give up and used the copy and paste option instead.
Hopefully the chapter is good but I would love feedback and to know if there is something I need to change or that you don't understand.
Chapter 13
Finally the five demigods that attended Hogwarts had to return since Christmas Break was over. It was hard to hide the fact she was injured from the other students and teachers but she was able to do it. The first day back it was announced at dinner by Professor McGonagall about the re-sort and about the heirs of the founders making changes, including that divination was cancelled permanently and about the new Professor's. When they heard Binns was fired and replaced the entire hall erupted into cheers, they were also told that Dumbledore was fired and that until a new Headmaster or Mistress was found she would be taking the position and Filius Flitwick would temporarily be Deputy Headmaster. She also told them that there would be more changes next year and that the House Cup was no longer being awarded before getting on with the re-sorting.
Fred and George Weasley were re-sorted into Slytherin, Cedric stayed in Hufflepuff, and many others were moved into different houses and some like Cedric stayed in their current Houses. The next week was spent with everyone getting settled into their new houses and getting them used to their new schedules. One night when Cassie, Travis, Connor, Cedric, and Neville were out after curfew so that Cedric could help Cassie change the bandages on her arm and add the Ambrosia, Parsley, and Nectar Paste to it they were found by Snape who immediately noticed the wound on her arm.
They spent the next hour dodging questions about how she got the wound and trying to convince him to not send her to the infirmary. For the rest of the week every time she was in a room with him Snape would keep glancing her way. The five demigods kept an eye on the classes, Defense and History were much better now that there were competent Teachers behind the positions. Another class that changed was Potions. Snape did explain more before they started brewing but for the most part he would just watch them and correct them if they were doing anything wrong, and if someone would do something wrong he would not only tell what the right way was but he would also explain why it was done that way.
One day Cassie used her invisibility cloak to sneak into the infirmary to see how competent the meddi-witch was. Cassie immediately noticed that she was too overbearing and wouldn't be a good choice to teach kids since she only knew the barest minimum when it came to healing. When she talked about it with the others they agreed that they should hire a real healer for the infirmary and have him teach the healing class three times a week though that plan could wait till next year.
When the demigods were wandering the third floor corridor they found a Cerberus though not as big as the one that guarded the Underworld. It was guarding a trapdoor so after they put it to sleep by having Cedric play his violin they went down the trap door with Cedric following soon after. They were then trapped by a giant devils snare which Neville commanded to let them through, and then they were greeted by flying keys which Cassie commanded to open the door. After the keys they came to a giant chess set which they had Amara and Lark flash them past, and they were confronted by a logic puzzle involving poisons and Magic Fire which Amara and Lark also flashed them passed.
The last thing they saw was a mirror in an empty room and the noticed what it said, I show not your face but your heart's desire. The fact that they could read it without the translation charm meant that it was written wrong; most likely backwards or with the letters mixed up. When Cassie looked into it, trying her best to ignore what it showed her, she noticed that her pocket got heavy so she reached her hand in and pulled out a Philosophers Stone which she promptly shattered it on the stone floor and used her powers to destroy it completely before destroying the mirror. Then Amara and Lark flashed them into the room with the sleeping Cerberus, when there Cassie called Mana and told her to take it to the Dungeons in Slytherin's Keep and feed it some raw meat. After feeding it Mana was to go find Nico and take him to the Cerberus.
After they were done there they all went back to their common rooms where they finished their homework. The next day they all did their normal routine starting at six in the morning, Cassie was glad that she could finally use both her swords again since she always felt uneven without two swords. Though just because she felt uneven didn't mean she didn't know how to use only one sword, she had practiced to use just one sword for both of her hands in the event that she either lost a sword or if like before she was injured and couldn't use an arm. It was that skill that made her the best fighter at camp because she didn't limit herself and could keep fighting even if they managed to disarm her of one of her swords. She also stretched her limits by also learning Archery, and increasing her speed beyond everyone at camp sine it meant she was more useful than if she didn't learn that.
Cassie was also trained in not only throwing knives but also fighting with them, she kept multiple knives on her at all times and not just on her bracelet but she had a belt with knife holder on it and even holders for each leg that she wore on her ankles when wearing pants. She even had holders that she could strap to her thigh if she wore skirts. When she wore skirts Cassie always wore shorts or bought skirts that had shorts attached. Luna was the only kid at camp that could match her in speed and versatility. Luna was mainly an archer but she also trained using knives, healing, and in seeing the future. Another thing that everyone in their group carried around was Battle Potions like ones to explode on impact and similar things in a wide variety, though not many potion masters made battle potions and the closest one that did was in India so they had to make their own.
She and Luna had been making battle potions since they were eight years old and they would sometimes give them out to kids going on quests. In fact Cassie and Luna had even created some battle potions like the sticking potion they created when they were nine. It worked by making a surface of a five foot radius sticky when a potion vile smashes on the area though it is invisible and all the enemy would see is broken glass on the ground since they throw it after taking the cork off. Why they would take the cork out is so that if someone who knew about the potion came across they area they wouldn't know to go around it, it is also why a person has to throw it as hard as they can so that no one can distinguish the glass as a potion vile. Another battle potion she and Luna created when they were nine was a smoke potion which worked like a smoke bomb only it lasts longer.
After they were done with their morning routine they had breakfast before heading off to class. During their first break Cassie mirror called Nico and asked him how the Cerberus was. After being told that the Cerberus' name was Mortis Cohortis meaning Death's Guard and that Mortis told Nico that the humans were starving him while keeping him locked in the room Cassie asked Nico if he would stop by Diagon Alley and make a Know-It-All Map of the place before he took Mortis back with him to camp. Once he agreed Cassie sought out Cedric and asked him to make a map of Hogsmead during the next time he went, having gotten his permission slip signed by Chiron.
The rest of the day passed slowly with Cassie getting a letter from Amelia Bones that they arrested another ten people for illegal activity and that over half of them testified under Veritaserum that they had willingly worked for Voldemort. The next day they had a break so Cassie went to investigate what the wards told her about there being an Animagus in the castle. After checking the map and finding out that the area where the Animagus was said Peter Pettigrew Cassie quickly transfigured a rat cage, since James Potter's journal said that Peter was a rat Animagus, used runes to keep it transformed and then used rune to make it impossible to get out of. Less than three hours later a rat cage with a note on top was flashed into the office of the DMLE by Amara.
