Author's note: From Halloween 2013 to Halloween 2017... Wow I took a very long hiatus plus a two month hiatus so I'm sorry about that, but here you go. Avid readers of this fanfiction, please let me know your feedback!! And witch_shock, please update as soon as you can for the Russian translation :) Happy Halloween and happy reading.
Shock gaped in awe at what she saw.
There was a circle of trees, each one possessing an oddly shaped door.
"Whoa..." Lock commented. "Weird."
Shock put her hand on one of the doors. "Neat!"
It was the pumpkin shaped door she was touching.
Something told her she wanted to go in there, with Lock and Barrel. She felt the need to join them in whatever this door led to.
Barrel smiled. "I get it! Each door represents a different holiday! Shock, you're probably touching the Halloween door."
Shock took her hand off of the door.
"Oh yeah ! That explains the Jack-o-Lantern carved in there."
Lock laughed. "Heh, this is cool!" He turned to the other two children. "If you want, guys, this could be our secret hideout for whenever we wanna meet up together."
Shock nodded. That would be nice. These two were treating her nicely for the most part so far (aside from the fight she had with Lock that night.)
"But... Wait... How did we even end up here? We're even more lost than we were before!"
Before the children could ponder about it, the moon's shadow was growing increasingly violent; almost as if it were shaking.
They all heard a rumbling and looked up at the moon. It sent thick strokes of lightning, stretching all the way to the ground where they were standing .
A neon green fog emitted from the center of the moon.
"WHAT'S HAPPENING?!" Lock yelled over it all.
"AAAAAH!" Shock screamed and held on tight to Lock.
Barrel held on tight to Shock.
Eventually, the three heard demented and crazy laughter that was easily audible , echoing in the night.
The green fog surrounding them formed into a big and lumpy figure. It moved around like a sack.
"IS THAT THE-"
"Well, well, well. What have we here!? Three little kids, huh? OOOH, they're really scared!"
The figure let out anther cackle.
"IT'S THE BOOGEYMAN!"
Barrel yelled.
The Boogeyman finally let the three see his face. The lightning and rumbling ceased.
"The one and only. And that's Mr. Oogie Boogie to you." He pointed at them retortedly.
Shock, being the brave one, stepped forward to the large and plump creature.
"Are you g-going to... Eat us?"
Lock pulled her back in his arms. "Shock, what are you doing!? Do you want to anger him!?"
Though Oogie's reply was not at all what the children expected.
He just cackled even more, then finally replied, "Eatcha? Who said anything about that? What, your mommas told ya that in all those stupid bedtime stories?"
The children looked at each other, trembling.
"Well, Oogie Boogie only eats who Oogie Boogie wants gone. Not just some poor kid who stayed up like a second past their bedtime."
Barrel crossed his arms and glared at the ground.
Shock looked at him with concern.
"What?"
"All these times, I could've stayed up late eating candy! That's five years of my life gone to waste."
Oogie Boogie turned around, as if to look at the Halloween door.
"Hm... Well if y'all would take a listen and consider something, I can make the rest of your lives not go to waste..."
Barrel looked up at Oogie and uncrossed his arms.
"What are you saying?"
Oogie turned around. "Aren't you sick of this old town? They complainin' about now rich are better than commoners and blah blah blah.."
Lock looked up at Oogie. His hands turned into tiny fists.
"You know what, I am getting sick of that argument!"
Shock and Barrel both nodded.
"Us too!"
Oogie kneeled down to reach their height.
"Shock, don't you want to live in peace, have friends with you everywhere ya go? Have no more bullies?"
Shock nodded. Oogie turned to Lock.
"Lock, don't you wanna know what it's like to be a normal kid? You sick of being spoiled and having the rich life?"
Lock nodded. Oogie then turned to Barrel.
"Barrel, I know how much you love sweets. Ever wish it was Halloween everyday? You could go trick or treating every single day?"
Barrel replied, "Would I!"
Oogie stood back up, turned around, and put his stubby hand on the Halloween door.
"I know a place where all of that can happen for you kids. It's a place you'd only find in your dreams they say, but I assure you, it's real. And it's all right behind this door..."
Barrel smiled. "Hey, that's the Halloween door!"
Oogie nodded. "Indeed it is. Behind this door you will find a town containing every monster imaginable, all shapes and sizes. But they won't hurt ya."
Shock backed away a bit. The boys both looked at her.
"Aw, come on , Shock! If I wanted to eat y'all, you'd be eaten up already. Surely you can trust the rest of 'em if you can trust me. Heck, I'm supposed to be the worst in the group!"
Lock nudged her. "C'mon, Shock. I don't think he's joking."
Shock looked at Oogie.
"Oh,. Alright..."
Oogie waddled back to the door.
"I can take y'all there for the rest of your natural born lives. All your dreams and desires will come true. But on one condition...,"
The children leaned in to listen.
"What's that?"
Oogie looked them in the eye.
"You'll have to serve me. And work for me. You know, I believe in you kids. You three look like something great when put together. Like, Lock Stock and Barrel!"
Shock nodded eagerly. "Yeah, I noticed that too... Our names match the phrase..." The boys also
nodded.
A pair of dice appeared in Oogie's hand magically. He was shaking them, as if to roll them on an imaginary game board.
"So, whaddya say? Escape this dull place for good to move into something great!"
He held out his hand in front of the children. The dice read snake eyes.
There was a little bug rolling around in the holes. Was it a millipede?
"Darn thing." Oogie took the bug and popped it in his mouth.
"Yuck!" Shock blurted out.
"Sorry 'bout that. Now, where were we?"
He held out the dice again. Lock was the first to put his hand on the dice.
He wanted to leave this place for good, he was sick of being a rich kid. Once his hand touched the dice, he didn't even care about his parents anymore.
Barrel smiled. "I guess it sounds like fun... And endless supply of candy? Guess we won't be needing this anymore."
He kicked the huge bag, which tumbled off the hill and went in a nearby river.
He then turned around to join hands with Oogie.
Shock's eyes widened. "Hey!"
She stomped her foot.
"That was my hard-earned work! I swear, Barrel, when I get my hands on-"
"Shock." Oogie interrupted her.
"Would you care to join us?"
Shock looked up into Oogie's soulless eyes, then down to Lock and Barrel, whose eyes were lit with anticipation. Anticipation for her to join them.
"W-wait a second. What about our parents, do you know what happened to them? Will they be okay?"
Oogie chuckled. "Your parents? I took care of them. They're in a better place now."
At that instant, Oogie let out a burp.
"S'cuse me."
Lock turned to Shock.
"Yeah, Shock. Who cares about our parents anyway? When we're in this world, we won't even need them."
Barrel nodded in agreement. "Yeah!"
Shock was in a pickle. She didn't want to let down her new friends, but at the same time was concerned about her parents missing her and wondering where she was.
"I..." Shock bit her lip.
"Come on, we don't got all day!"
Lock shouted at her.
Shock then smiled. This was the nicest rich kid she has ever met, he didn't bully her yet acted rather sweet.
Also, Barrel was nice. He was willing to he her friend. Nobody wanted to be her friend, and he was one of the first.
"Alright, I'll do it... For you guys..."
She smiled at them and put her hand on the middle of the dice.
"Yay!" Barrel said with a smile.
"That-a girl." Lock exclaimed, also smiling.
Suddenly, a huge green light emitted behind Oogie. It was coming from the door.
"Say goodbye to your innocent lives, kids!"
Then, a huge wind gusted.
Oogie laughed maniacally and disappeared with the wind into the Halloween door.
The three children screamed as they were being pulled into the door with him.
Well guys, what do you think?? Please give feedback, I would love to know your thoughts. I will finish this fanfiction before Halloween this year.. No more long hiatuses XD
