Chapter 6: Wait, Wait, Wait, Wait

"I never thought I'd get to go sledding today!" Rebecca commented as they walked back to the playground.

"Me neither!" Lila said.

"Hey! I've got an idea! Let's play some ice hockey!" BJ said.

"I'm not sure we have the time, BJ." Barney said.

"Huh?" Sally wondered.

"What DO you mean?" Peppermint Patty wondered.

"When a season like winter comes out of a jar, it may not last very long." Barney said and sure enough, the snow was starting to disappear.

"That is so cool!" Heather said.

"Awwww man!" Sally groaned.

"Now look, we're right back where we started!" BJ said. "And there was still lots of fun stuff I wanted to do."

"BJ, we've already done so many fun things." Tosha reminded.

"Yeah, we had fun in the spring, summer, fall and winter." Schroeder said, "What more can one ask for?"

"A kiss, perhaps." Lucy suggested.

"Jay, I have a theory! AND I WANNA TEST IT OUT, RIGHT NOW!" Peppermint Patty declared, grabbing the Winter Jar and rushing up the treehouse stairs with it.

"Where's Patty going?" Maria wondered.

"I don't know, but it looks like she needs that Winter Jar to help." BJ said.

"WELL! COME ON! FOLLOW ME!" Peppermint Patty said.

"I wonder what she's up to now." Barney said, a little uneasy.

"You don't sound so calm." Lucy noticed. "And frankly, I can't blame you!"

"Guys, this may be my best theory ever!" Peppermint Patty told everyone as they entered the treehouse."

"What ARE you going to do, Peppermint Patty?" Lila asked, with an open mind.

"It's simple! I'm going to open all four jars at once and see what happens!" Peppermint Patty explained. "And if it works, we'll get to play more games from all of the seasons!"

"What if it doesn't work?" BJ asked.

"Yeah!" Sally agreed. "I'm all for Four Seasons Day but what if this is a bad idea?"

"And can't you just wait for the real seasons to get here?" Shawn asked. "Fall is only in a few more months."

"I guess I could but...but..." Peppermint Patty said.

"What?" Barney asked.

"But I JUST CAN'T WAIT ANY LONGER!" Peppermint Patty elaborated.

Peppermint Patty:

I just can't wait, it's just not fair

BJ:

I'm standing here but I wanna be there

Barney, Barney's Friends and Peanuts Gang:

They just can't wait until it's spring

They just can't fair what the summer may bring

They just can't wait for what tomorrow brings

BJ and Peppermint Patty:

We just can't wait for anything

Barney, BJ, Barney's Friends and Peanuts Gang:

They just can't wait for the colors of fall

They just can't wait for a winter snowfall

They just can't wait for what tomorrow brings

They just can't wait for anything

"Now remember it might not work, so don't get your hopes up." Lucy explained.

"We know." BJ said.

"So which jar are you gonna try first?" Heather asked.

"Maybe some volleyball in the summer, and skiing in the winter..." Peppermint Patty acted impulsively. "Fall...spring..."

"What's gonna happen?" BJ asked as a wave of magic blew over, covering Patty in four different types of clothes and snow before it magically disappeared. "Aye yi yi!"

"I don't think I want to do that again!" Peppermint Patty declared.

"I don't think you can do it again." Charlie Brown said, pointing to the broken jars.

"Oh geez...sorry." Peppermint Patty blushed.

"Oh it's OK. You'll just have to wait for the real seasons to get here." Barney assured.

"And when they get here, we can rebuild the jars." Maria smiled.

"Great idea! Then we can have another wonderful weather day just like this one!" BJ smiled.

"Yes, and maybe Baby Bop would like to play too!" Sally smiled.

"Oh yeah! Sissy would love all the cool games we played today! I better go home and tell her! See ya later!" BJ waved as he left in a trace of magic sparkles.

"We sure had a lot of fun." Heather giggled.

"You're right, Heather. Today really WAS a lot of fun." Tosha said.

"I liked playing baseball!" Shawn said.

"I liked the snow the best-AND THE SLEDDING!" Lila said.

"That was a great idea." Rebecca said.

"I think going to the beach in the summer was the best." Linus said.

"Barney, what do you think the best time was?" asked Maria.

"That's easy. Spring, summer, fall or winter, hot weather or cold, wet weather or dry weather, the very best times are the times you spend with the people you love. And that's something we can all do, every day!" Barney said.

"Awwwwww!" Snoopy, Lila, Lucy and Sally hugged Barney.

Barney:

I love you, you love me

We're a happy family

With a great big hug

And a kiss from me to you

Won't you say you love me too?

Barney, Barney's Friends and Peanuts Gang (Snoopy):

I love you, you love me

We're best friends

Like friends should be

With a great big hug

And a kiss from me to you

Won't you say you love me too?

(AROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO)

"Oh Snoopy..." Barney patted Snoopy's head "That never gets old."

"I wonder what the weather's doing right now..." Shawn said.

"Let's go look." Tosha declared and the kids rushed to the windows.

Lucy smiled. "I think the weather looks just right for a game of tag. Right, Barney? Barney?"

They all looked over at the Barney doll on the table. "Looks like a yes." Maria said.

"Let's get going!" Linus declared.

"Wait a second!" Sally walked towards the table. "Thank you, Barney. This is the best Not Four Seasons Day Four Seasons Day Ever." And she kissed the top of his head.

Snoopy waved at Sally as she left before pulling out a bag from behind his bag and shaking the contents of fake snow onto the Barney doll. Peppermint Patty looked over and chuckled "Not yet, Snoop. You've gotta wait for winter!" She teased and winked at him. Snoopy looked over and he and the Barney doll winked back at her.
