Author's Note: Guess whose back! That's right it's CreativeAngel. Senior Year had been real rough and I have lost quite some motivation. Thank goodness younger me had the whole story outline written down and I can finish writing this based off the ideas. I'm heading into my first-year of college now so I'm kind of nervous. Also I think I'll have quite the workload and I'm also trying to find a job so I'll have considerably less time. Anyways I won't abandon this like I keep reminding you I will finish this no matter how many years this takes. Thank you all for your support cuz rereading those reviews is what convinces me to continue. Let's get into it, love you all angels 3
Part II: So I actually finished my first year of college let's go I actually like it better than high school. Also surprise surprise it's the way I took a whole year for this chapter. I have to go back and reread everything I wrote because I take such big gaps between writing. Writer's block you know and college is actually hard and I actually have to study. Anyways thank you to everyone who has ever reviewed and the recent people who favorited this because I forgot I had this on going and that gave me the spurt to continue this. it's definitely been a while but because it's summer break I will attempt to write more. I will not be going back to change my writing as I improve since it helps to see the differences and also this is my first fanfiction (that I'm literally taking ten years to finish) so it's kind of memorable. This author note is also really long so you can skip it. Thanks a lot angels (that's your name now if you stay updated with this story) love y'all and let's jump in.
PS: I wrote like half of this a year ago (meaning Tris's POV) so there may be a sudden switch in writing halfway through we shall see :)
Tris POV:
It's been a week since the initiation. There's a strange eerie silence around the Dauntless compound. Everyone's eyes scatter around the area like rolling marbles. Tobias and I snuck around some places to get more info. He had copied over the list of Divergents he had found and saved them in a flash drive. I hide it in my room on my drawer with other office supplies. It may be in plain sight but it doesn't look out of place so no one can suspect anything. We're also more careful of locking our door now.
I was sitting on the couch in my thoughts when Tobias opened the front door.
"Hey love?" I looked at him. "Max is calling us into his office," Tobias said with pursed lips.
I nodded grabbing my leather jacket and pulling on my boots. He held my hand as we walked to the office.
"Come in," Max replied to Tobias' knock.
"You called?" I said.
"So, we have some new information." Max took a pause, glancing at both of us before continuing. "Peter wasn't alone with his attacks."
My heart dropped. Although I was a Dauntless, Peter had caused quite a bit of trauma that was hard to slide under a rug. Tobias rubbed circles with his thumb onto the palm of my hand.
"Who was it?" I asked warily.
Taking a deep breath, Max replied.
"Eric."
"That bast-" I stared at Tobias.
"Sorry," he muttered.
"We don't have exact proof but what I can say is I'll be demoting him from his leadership position. This brings me to you two, are you willing to take up the position Four and Tris?" Max placed his elbows on his desk leaning forward.
I glanced at Tobias trying to understand what he was thinking. Silently, we agreed we should accept.
"We're ready." Tobias extended his hand and Max shook it.
"I'll get your new ID cards ready soon. By the way, stay wary of Eric he's quite angry and couldn't take it out on me so you two are probably his target."
"No worries we'll handle it." Tobias led me out of the room and we headed back to our dorm.
Once we closed the door, it took a single look at each other and we burst out laughing. Eric is going to be pissed.
A couple of days go by and we received the news. Peter had broken out of jail. Tobias didn't want me going anywhere alone after what happened previously. I convinced him I can take care of myself but he stuck to me like glue. I understood he cared and was just stressed out so I listened to him.
Tobias POV:
Everything was slowly slipping back into place but that made me even more uncomfortable. With all the incidents that had happened, I was paranoid of losing Tris so I would walk her to and from her shifts at the tattoo parlor. Peter had been in hiding for over a week now and I was trying to rack my brain and figure out what his plan would be.
I was in the control room today for my midday shift and decided to look through some more files. Due to the fact that Eric was suddenly kicked out because of his mistreatment of initiates, he wasn't able to backup or delete any of the documents he had as a leader. Max had caught him trying to change the final points deciding the succeeding Dauntless and immediately fired him on the spot. The most Eric could do was sulk but I knew he was out for Tris and I's blood.
I logged into the computer with the leader specific login, clacking away at the keyboard. Scanning through the folders, I found a particular zipped folder that was out of place. It definitely seemed like someone was trying to hide it by putting it in the Dauntless member records that barely get checked. My hand moved the mouse and clicked revealing a list of documents. The first file was a note with an email login and password. Using the information, I logged in and found various emails to some stranger. The received emails were written with such professionalism that it had to be from an Erudite. In the mix was emails from another person, short and concise. For some strange reason, they reminded me of Marcus. His quick and concise replies emitting authority that oozed out of his words was practically replicated in some of the emails.
Adjusting in the leather chairs, I scrolled back as far as I could. I spent hours reading the emails and trying to pick up patterns and hints of what this was all about. I stopped at the end of one email, the cursor hovering over the back button. This email had been signed off with a name - Jeanine.
Oh this was bad.
The sky had darkened significantly outside. The clouds overlapped in various shades of gray as the moon shone right into the control room. It wasn't until Jackson showed up telling me my shift was over that I realized I had spent hours swamped up in here. I quickly logged out mentally processing information and nodded at Jackson before heading out. He didn't notice or know anything yet and started preparing for his shift.
Jackson had opted for working in the control room after initiation and Colette joined Tris in the tattoo parlor. Sometimes when shifts overlapped, Jackson and I would walk down to the parlor to get our girlfriends. Us four had become quite good friends even though Jackson and Colette were still nervous around me. Tris was apparently more approachable.
I stepped out and checked my phone realizing it was on silent. Tris had called and left a message letting me know she was heading home. I was so focused I forgot her shift ended three hours earlier.
Stepping into the apartment I saw Tris watching a movie on the TV while munching some popcorn. I removed my shoes and squeezed next to her on the couch, laying my head on her shoulder. She fed me a popcorn that I happily accepted. Tris saw I was exhausted and waited a while before saying anything. She had a good instinct to sense when I was ready to talk.
The movie ended ten minutes later, not that I was watching. I was too busy organizing the emails in my head.
"Are you okay?" Tris asked tentatively.
"I found some emails." I straightened up.
I explained what I had come across, Tris nodding and listening carefully. She waited till I finished before commenting.
"So, the Divergents list we found was created by Eric?" I nodded.
"And he's working with Jeanine and some dude from Abnegation?"
"I'm starting to suspect that person is Marcus," I sighed. Tris' eyes widened.
"This sounds like a whole cult that is being formed."
"From the looks of it, Jeanine and Eric are using Marcus to overthrow you father. I just don't understand how Eric knows Jeanine. There's hundreds of Erudites so why out of everyone is he connected with Jeanine."
"I thought he didn't have any connection to his old faction but I guess being leader voids some things." Tris slouched forward, resting her chin on her hands.
"I don't know but it seems there's some huge conspiracy going on and we have got to stop it. I'll gather more information during my shifts but I need you to be very careful. Your name was listed as urgent so there's definitely people with their eyes on you. No one knows I'm divergent besides you and would never suspect it. Since, I'm on the safe side I'll snoop around." I grabbed Tris' face, "Just keep your eyes peeled sweetheart." Tris nodded.
Of course with how stressed I was and how particularly beautiful Tris looked that night, we ended up kissing right there on the sofa. We snuggled up next to each other and I fell asleep to the lingering cherry taste of her lips.
