Ch 12 Lies, truth and trust
Kisame moved swiftly through the quiet night a destination in mind as he continued his steady mile-eating pace, despite the unrest he was feeling.
It had started as a curiosity for the odd duo that he had been spying on for the past two months, but it had quickly turned to alarm when he finally began to hear rumors of Jiraiya's rushed visit to the hospital. Digging deeper Kisame had pulled some strings with Sasori to hear from some of Sasori's spy network the toad sage had turned up with a charred lump that had been human, demanding the staff stabilize the patient before running off to god knows where which was why Kisame was now heading towards the hospital. It was mainly curiosity that drew him though there was also the selfish part of him that remembered the wonderful evening that he had spent with Kumori's clones and hoped that it wasn't the woman who was so badly wounded.
Flashback
He groaned and tugged against the sealed satin scarves that bound his hands to the bed, the headboard and bed sealed against breaking as well. The two redhead grinned mischievously and continued to nibble and suck his chest, one moving to suck the sensitive skin on his neck, the other nibbling his nipple before giving it a sharp nip that had him gasping for breath. Their innovative use of the sensitivity jutsu had him melting already and they hadn't even gotten started yet.
"Untie me," he breathed trying to muster the willpower to get out of such a dangerous position. She could pull a knife on him at any second and end him and for the first time in a long time, he felt helpless, a thrill of fear heightening his arousal. It wasn't often that someone of his power could be restrained but whatever she had done to those slim silky scarves had made them stronger than steel cables to his shock and alarm. He had thought that he would be able to break out of them at any moment which was why he had let her have her way. Kumori 1 just grinned saucily as Kumori 2 began to nibble and suck his ear, sending pleasurable shivers through his body.
"I told you not to distract me Shinobi- kun, but you kept doing such naughty things to us, and making us feel so good. How are we supposed to say thank you for saving us if you keep distracting us?" she asked coyly as both girls continued their pleasing caresses and kisses.
"It makes me too uncomfortable. Let me up! Let me please you," he hisses trying to wiggle free, a groan breaking free as he watched the both of them kiss their way down his naval and unzip his pants, one of them caressing him through his underwear as the other began to remove his shoes causing his struggles to weaken.
"Ssssh, it will be ok. You can pleasure us later. Right now we just want to say thank you. I promise that neither one of us will hurt you, Shinobi- kun , " murmured the clone gently as she leaned in to steal a kiss, her lips gentle and plump as she swallowed his groans as the other clone continued her teasing along his length. After a moment he realized that he couldn't smell a lie from her with his sensitive nose and Kisame relaxed knowing that she had spoken the truth.
"Call me Same, " he whispered against her lips as she grinned foxily feeling his surrender.
"I promise you won't regret this, Same- kun, " she whispered before leaning down to nip his neck as the girl at his waist took him in her mouth. His hoarse cry filled the air as her mouth and touch began to burn a fire through his veins turning his brain to mush and his words to inarticulate sounds of pleasure. To think that the night was only beginning...
Flashback ends
Kisame groaned at the feel of the tightness of his pants, a part of him cursing that night and another part obsessed with the desire for a repeat performance. Those clones had lasted for two days before they decided to work him into a frenzy and finally set him free. It had been done on purpose by them, for the two of them had climaxed many times and knew that they didn't have much time left. It had been wild almost brutal the ferocity with which he had taken one clone than the other, however he had been gratified to know that he had made the clones orgasm so hard with his lovemaking that they had lost focus and released, their inarticulate cries of pleasure and wild moans still ringing in his ears long after they had dispelled leaving him shaky and alone in the hotel room. He sighed as he tried to pull his mind from the gutter feeling a bit frustrated with his barely controllable lust. It hadn't been too long ago that he had barely listened to those urges, but now his libido was awake it seemed to want to fuck into next century. He had gone back to another brothel, posing as a handsome man, but the girls, despite their profession, had barely been able to keep up much less match or exceed his intensity, unlike the feisty redhead. He had tried another and another, but he had yet to find another girl that had satisfied him into such a boneless blissful state as she had. Yes, it was pure selfishness at this point for him to go inquire about her health but he didn't care. It was worth it.
Kumori groaned gently as she shifted, the sensation of a powerful chakra close by beginning to pull her from her sleep. It didn't seem to be moving and after a moment she opened her eyes blearily to realizing that there was someone lying next to her. A sharp-toothed grin met her eyes along with tan skin and sky blue eyes. She blinked in confusion as the man reached out to stroke her face, his hands rough but his touch gentle and after a moment she remembered who he was.
"Same- kun ?" she murmured sleepily. She felt so groggy. Must be the effects of a sleep jutsu.
"Hey," he murmured quietly as he leaned into stroke her arm comfortingly, "I heard what happened and I came to see you," he murmured. Kumori blinked in confusion eyes still hazy the man noted.
"Happened?" she asked, sounding out of it. She could barely think, much less stay awake her eyelidsdrooping. The jutsu must still be affecting her. His grin faded to something grimmer.
"Your training accident. I heard it wasn't pretty and that you were burned pretty badly. Looks like whoever healed you was a miracle worker," he murmured as his face pulled into a grimace. Indeed that was true. Kisame had never seen a medic be able to heal wounds that extensive before. Kisame had arrived before the busty blonde healer had, in time to see her bandages changed by the hospital staff. It had been bad, and very extensive, however when he had gone to leave, soon after he heard that Jiraiya had returned with company and had gone back, curious to see what the Seals master would do. He hadn't been disappointed, and he had watched with morbid curiosity as the blonde and her sidekick had worked endlessly to repair the redhead, returning her to her original state. He had also caught on to the way the Toad sage had reacted when the busty blonde had begun to deduce where the redhead was from. Seeing the man start to put up silencing seals Kisame had seen it relevant to get a clone transformed as a bug into the room so it could write down or tell him the information later. Tokumade, or Far Shore as it translated. His eyes had narrowed, as he filed that particular bit of information away for future reference. He would have to ask her about it later.
Kumori frowned in confusion as she tried to remember though the effects of the jutsu where impairing her ability to do so. There had been a training accident? As she sat up she noticed something white and turned to see Jiraiya sitting asleep in a visitor chair against the wall. She gasped and jerked back as the memories of his face and fire along with searing pain suddenly burst into her mind the sensation disorientating and frightening. Kisame's eyes narrowed sharply at her fearful reaction to the Toad Sage before sending a sharp glance at the clone that he had put to sleep with a combination of a few Genjutsus and some of Mist's medical sedatives. The dart had been small and superficial enough not to pop the clone, but it had been asleep in seconds. He pursed his lips in thought. After a moment, a choice made, Kisame stood before scooping her up out of the bed, blankets and all. She gasped in surprise and an arm automatically wrapped around his neck for support.
"W-what are you doing?" she asked sounding timider than he had ever heard her. He chuckled finding this uncertainty cute, his grin positively wicked.
"I'm kidnapping you." he purred as her eyes widened in shock he leaped out of the hospital window.
...
It was around nine in the morning when Jiraiya and Tsunade returned to the hospital to check on Kumori. Both shinobi paused halfway down the hallway on the way to her room as staff moved in and out of the room clearly distressed. Jiraiya was in the room a second later startling a nurse with his sudden appearance as he took in the empty hospital bed and the nurse that had been trying to awaken his clone.
"Where is she?" he demanded as the nurse gestured helplessly and wrung her hands in the face of the Toad Sage's great displeasure. Striding over to the clone, he began to look it up and down before pausing when he found a small dart on it. Pulling it off, he inspected it for a moment before passing it to Tsunade who was now standing beside him. She frowned as she sniffed the dart before pricking her finger, healing chakra already glowing to heal the skin.
"Mild sedative. I've seen this before. It's good for both healing and sedating a target. Hidden mist village grade." she murmured as Jiraiya stared at the empty bed, unnaturally quiet and tense. He turned with unseeable speed and destroyed his clone with a punch, causing the nurse next to it to shriek when it disappeared in a puff of smoke before running out of the room, clearly terrified that the Toad Sage of Mt. Myoboku would turn his anger on her next. Unusual, Tsunade noted mentally. Tsunade remained unmoving though Shizune flinched beside her master. Tsunade frowned as she watched her old teammate pace the room for a minute, clearly thinking hard before he went through a series of hand seal and slammed his hand now bleeding hand into the floor. A medium sized white toad appeared.
"Inu, I have a job for you," he said as produced a young woman's yukata from a sealed scroll. The White Toad took in the scent before nodding.
"I have the trail. It's still very fresh," he said as he moved to the window sill.
"How long do you think we have before she breaks," asked Tsunade as she moved to follow Jiraiya. His face darkened, eyes shining like black fire as he turned to face his teammate.
"I have faith that she'll be able to escape whomever her captor is, or at the very least find a way to fight back. She isn't someone who takes things lying down," he said as Tsunade sent him a disbelieving expression.
"You said you've only been training her for a few months," she said incredulously. The dark smirk he sent her had her wondering what could have happened for him to look so thunderous and so confident at the same time. It didn't make much sense for him to be this upset if he believed that wholeheartedly but there was no denying the confidence she saw there that had her wondering what the hell he had been teaching this girl.
"You know that she's not normal or I would be more worried. And she's my student, I know better than anyone what she is and isn't capable of, " he said, causing Tsunade to blink.
"In fact," he said as he raised a hand to halt Tsunade's progress forwards towards the window, "I would like for you to stay here for a few days in case she comes back," he said causing Tsunade's jaw to drop in outrage. Who did he think he was to order her to do anything, much less stay in this place.
"What the hell?! Why would I stick around in this dingy little town? Do you know how many creditors are going to catch up with me from staying in place too long?" she demanded as Jiraiya shot her an unamused look.
"I will make it worth your while Tsunade," he said smoothly as Tsunade frowned deeply at him. This was really starting to bother her, the way he was throwing around money try to get her to comply with his demands. In the past, he had been far too cheap to apply such tactics to her; no, he was always trying to remind her of the good old days when they had been a team, trying to appeal to her sentiment, a teasing glint in his black eyes. She had always refused in her way, with a frown and sharp words but he had always smiled to himself, knowing what to expect but asking anyway. It had been the way they were, him making suggestions or offers and her always turning him down, and his small secretive smile afterward when he thought she couldn't see it. Now he stared at her steadily with black eyes that didn't hold half the affection they used to, expectation on his face. He expected her to accept because he knew her need of money. It was disconcerting for him to not act as he always did. Did he truly believe her to be this predictable? After a moment she cursed mentally, hating the fact that she knew she would accept his offer in the end.
"What did you have in mind?" she finally said. Jiriaya's smile was dark with amusement and Tsunade found herself loathing the expression. Whatever had happened in the years since she had last seen him left her disliking the changes that she saw now.
...
5 hours earlier
Kumori had woken at the first hints of dawn in the unreadable way that ninja slipped into consciousness without the telltale sign of breathing change, sudden stilling of flickering eyelids, or slow or jerky movements. Instead, she woke in the way that Jiraiya had been training her the past four months with barely a hitch in her breathing and barely a twitch of her finger. She was reaching out with her sensing abilities as she had come to be her usual habit, detecting the hum of strong chakra coming from the corner of the room and began to map out mentally all the chakra signatures around her as well as her room and the location with the clues she could discern from the different but subtle chakra that flowed through the room. She could sense healing chakra from the floor below on several different levels and then finally healing chakra down the hall. A hospital then. Jiraiya was in the corner of the room, a clone from what she could feel seeing as his chakra flow was usually more steady then a clone's. She continued to watch the clone before relaxing slightly. It's chakra flow was the same as when Jiraiya was asleep. She turned slightly from where she lay on her side, an eye peeking open to look at the clone and sure enough, it was sound asleep in it's chair.
Kumori signed silently as she sat up with a grimace. What the hell had happened? As Kumori continued to stare at the clone her eyes narrowed slightly, recalling the flash of Jiraiya's face and being immersed in flames and immense pain. Her stomach turned in revulsion and she grimaced as she silently left her bed.
A flash of hand seals later the Presence Masking Seal that Jiraiya had placed on her all those months ago was turned on and a clone appeared without a sound to take her place in the bed. Kumori watched as the clone offered it's chest to her and she reached out while focusing hard on the seal she had been working on.
Touch seals where tough, in fact, one of the most difficult aspects of Fuinjutsu that Jiraiya had tried to teach her thus far. It took a lot of chakra control and crystal clear focus to create a seal with your chakra and you had to know the seal you where making by heart. Jiraiya knew such seals by heart but with chakra reserves as large as his he had always had a problem creating touch seals with the right amount of chakra, instead requiring the medium of ink and paper to control the flow of energy. Chakra control had never been his forte, but he had been using seals to help focus hers for Fuinjutsu though he had lowered the effects as she had gotten better with her control. No, Overloading a seal by using too much chakra in general would overload and destabilize the seal causing it to try and project the excess energy outwards which usually resulted in the seal surface catching on fire or minor explosions. After enough failed attempts the man had called it quits on that particular technique but had seen the potential for his student to learn it using her shadow clone method, seeing as she had a smaller amount of chakra to work with starting out. As her chakra pools grew their practice with her chakra control would lengthen until her control was good again. Succeed she had once they had managed to get her chakra control and memorization down to pat.
Touching the clone's sternum the touch seal took before Kumori frowned sweat beading on her brow as she focused her chakra around the seal and began to push. The clone cringed at the sensation but held still as Kumori continued to focus. Several minutes later the seal finished contracting into looking nothing more than a mole on the clone's breastbone when in fact it was a seal that was designed to slowly draw and convert energy from the surrounding environment into something that could fuel the clone while helping stabilize and sustain it. Reaching out she placed another stability seal on the sternum so the chakra made construct wouldn't dispell under anything short of being mortally wounded. With that Kumori performed a sleeping jutsu and the clone slumped back into the bed with a groggy flop. Satisfied Kumori performed the same jutsu on the clone of Jiraiya sitting in the chair before creeping over to draw her bag over to herself and grab a change of clothes. If anything Kumori wanted to catch a breath of fresh air by herself and think over the little bit she remembered from... well, whatever had happened to land her in the hospital.
It was a unsettling series of memories to have upon first waking up and she found two parts of herself conflicted over the situation. If anything she wanted to be out of the room because she wasn't ready to confront the situation just yet which would surely bring things to a head for the better or for the worse. Now dressed in her Haori, yukata top, obi, calf pants and geta she made her way through the halls before heading to the roof as she released the genjutsu on the Jiraiya clone. She felt the flare of chakra from it meaning it was awake now as she made her way onto the roof and found a decent seat to where she could watch the sunrise. Kumori sighed in relief when the clone stayed put, meaning that Jiraiya's clone had either bought the ruse or knew that she needed space enough to leave her be for now.
It was very disconcerting, to say the least, to be forced to question whether Jiraiya had meant her harm or not when she knew that there could be gaps in her memory that would explain what had happened. It didn't make any sense in the least. How had she gotten hurt? Fire. Ok, from who? The only thing she could remember was Jiraiya's face but that made no sense for Jiraiya to hurt her. He had invested so much time and energy into her especially since they had been using shadow clones. If she created 12 clones and they did 12 hours of work each day, that was the equivalent of 12 days worth of work. Do 12 days of work in a single day in four months or 120 days that's essentially doing 1,440 days worth of work in four months. 1440 days equates to 48 months or four years. Jiraiya had been creating 7-10 clones to teach her main 12 clones while they used extra clones in different lessons. That means he had years of memory as well, and she had more than four years worth of training under her belt. Why would he invest that kind of energy into her only to try and kill her? It made no sense, so she viewed it as highly unlikely.
Try as she might, said gaps in memory continued to elude their host and she settled onto her back as her eyes slid close in meditation, listening to the sound of the wind through the trees and the thrill of the birds in the air. All too soon her concentration was interrupted. There was a strong chakra approaching and Kumori's eyes narrowed, recognizing the signature as the one that had been following her and Jiraiya for a while now. It had taken her a while but she had finally identified it as the Chakra of the Shinobi that had saved her in a little town a couple months back. Interested Kumori lay where she was concentrating on the chakra's in her room before falling back into her meditation when the man settled into the bed beside the chakra signature of her clone. She could feel how slow the chakra of Jiriaya's clone was and figured that it was either sedated or under a genjutsu. It was too far for her to tell at the moment, her ability to sense chakra growing fuzzier the farther she was from the source. But there was no threat. The man, Same- kun as he had wished to be called though she doubted that was his name, clearly meant Jiraiya and her no harm. If anything she figured that he was a more curious and lustful individual then particularly malicious, at least to her and Jiraiya. For one he was too interested in her and, two, Jiraiya as too strong for him. Seeing no harm in letting the man hang out in a room that only had clones in it while she had her Chakra and Scent Masking Seal on she settled back into her meditation, letting her mind drift so she could gently pry the memories open. Fell deep into her meditation her breathing evened out and she found herself falling asleep in the light of the dawn. About twenty minutes afterward Kumori twitched in her sleep at the sensation of Same's chakra leaving with the chakra signature of her clone in tow. About thirty minutes after that she frowned and rolled over with a groan at the feel of her teacher's familiar chakra spiking suddenly from her room several floors below.
"Five more minutes sensei," she muttered as she pulled her red Haori over her head to block out the light and any voice that might try to awaken her. About five minutes later it was gone tough two strong chakra signatures remained.
2 hours later
Jiraiya came to a halt on a branch behind Inu as the toad paused on the trail looking this way and that before looking back at Jiraiya.
"It's another false trail. We will have to go back to the previous point," he said causing the Toad Sage's eyes to flash with anger. With each delay, his student was getting farther and farther away. Whoever had taken her was a higher grade ninja than the norm that had bothered them in the past. He looked forward to catching up with them so he could get rid of them once and for all so they would never bother them again. With that they set off again, intent on catching the kidnapper.
Later that evening
Kumori frowned angrily as she huddled by the side of a restaurant, the chill in the night air biting at the exposed skin of her face and neck. She had woken to find her teacher and her things conspicuously missing when she had reentered her hospital room before angry staff descended on her demanding pay for medical services Jiraiya hadn't paid for on her behalf.
Needless to say without her things she couldn't pay them and had to hightail it out of there. Sure, Kumori had lost everything she had ever had, being left with only the clothing on her back, four months ago but it still sucked.
She brushed her black hair out of her face, glad that Jiraiya had placed a Henge seal on her so she didn't need to focus to maintain a disguise. Down the street, a gambling man continued to con a drunk man out of his coin, the trick with the tiles so obvious to a ninja's eyes that it was hard to feel sorry for him. She sighed tiredly. What was she going to do? Ninja policy for recalling a lost or missing soldier was to go to the last point of contact if it was safe and wait for someone to arrive. If it was too dangerous, you were to try and get to the village or at least start heading towards it so if reinforcements where on the way you would hopefully meet them before they got to your position. She wasn't a full Konoha shinobi though leaving her to question how she should handle this situation.
Kumori frowned as she sensed a larger than average chakra signature approaching slowly. She watched as a busty blonde woman with pigtails came around the corner, her walk steady and confident. Kumori's eyes narrowed slightly as she picked up the subtle signs of training. Ninja then. So was the young woman trailing after her holding the pig.
Passing the gambling stand the blonde stopped at the street side betting table clearly placing a bet. After a moment she lost making Kumori hum in interest. Perhaps she had been mistaken. She watched with interest as the blonde continued to gamble the rest of her money away with the young woman next to her becoming increasingly stressed. Kumori could hear the brunette bringing up the point of having enough money for a place to sleep that night. Kumori nodded emphatically to herself. That she could definitely relate to. Finally, the brunette managed to get the blonde to move along the two of them moving down the street. While passing the blonde pigtailed woman tossed a coin at Kumori who caught it easily sending the blonde a questioning look.
"You look like you could use a little luck," said the blonde as Kumori smiled.
"Thanks. I appreciate it," she called as the blonde and brunette meandered off and away down the street. Kumori tilted her head in interest as she watched them go, a couple of men going down the street pausing not too far from where she huddled.
"Do you know who that was?" said the taller one of the two as he lit a cigarette.
"Nah, who?" asked the other as his friend lit his cigarette for him, the two clearly taking a smoke break.
"Some ninja hot shot that's famous for losing money. They say that she only wins bets when something terrible is about to happen, Names Tsunade. Don't know the name of her apprentice but she's cute." said the taller one as he let out a puff of smoke. Kumori frowned as she thought over the information with a frown. Slowly an idea formed as she slipped into an alleyway with a smirk as she looked at the coin in her hand. Maybe she didn't know what to do, but she needed money, that was a fact. She should focus on that first so if she needed to hang out in this town for a few days she could do so from inside the town, not outside of it making camp and hunting for wild game. She was already tired enough from whatever form of injury she was recovering from. Either way, that blonde lady with the pigtails was about to help her again even though she didn't know it yet. If Kumori managed to succeed, then she would even be generous with her as well.
A moment later she came out of the alleyway transformed to look like the blonde woman, a clone of hers transformed to look like the blonde's apprentice. She flipped the coin into the air before catching it with a smirk. The guy was running a dishonest business so it wouldn't hurt to relieve him of some of his money in an all for nothing gamble.
"Master, please, I thought you already spent everything already," pleaded the brunette clone as Kumori walked back up to the gambler that had cleaned Tsunade out of all her money. The man smirked.
"You come back to try your luck one more time?" he asked as he weighted the loaded tiles in his hand. Kumori smirked as she imitated the way the woman acted.
"Not now, I'm feeling lucky Apprentice," she said as the clone tried to get her to reconsider. She ignored it and continued to place bets with the man as two clones of her in the shadows plotted. One was transformed into a pair of loaded tiles and switched with his loaded tiles when he put them down, the second clone's release telling Kumori what numbers to bet on.
"This is my last coin. You should place the bet higher for me to part with it," she argued as the man hummed in thought before grinning.
"Well, I do feel a little bad for wiping you out of all your money. Maybe a few Ryo more," he said raising the bet from 100 Ryo to 1,000. Kumori hummed in thought with a frown.
"Make it higher and I'll play your game one last time," she bargained. The vender hummed in thought, his eyes on her neck.
"That's the first Hokage's legendary necklace is it not? Tell you what, throw that in and I'll raise the bet," he said as the clone gasped seeing an opportunity.
"No Master, you can"t!"
"Silence! It's mine to do with as I wish. And you! This is my precious necklace! Do you really think that I would part with it so easily or so cheaply? I might reconsider if you throw in the whole pot," she said as the man frowned and the clone gasped.
"Master what are you thinking? That necklace was-"
"Do we have a deal?" Kumori demanded of the vendor who was staring at them thoughtfully. After a moment he smirked.
"Let's play."
10 minutes later
Kumori smirked as she paid for a new scroll, ink, and brush at the counter of the store. Once outside she swiftly created a storage seal and sealed the money that the apprentice clone was still carrying. It would be too much to carry out in the open. Kumori had to hold back her giddiness. She and her clones had done it, they had won the money and replaced his tiles with his old loaded ones, with the vendor being none the wiser as to what had happened. With the money sealed away, the two made their way to an inn and rented a room for the night. Kumori sighed as she sat by the window looking out across the street, feeling a familiar chakra signature.
Soon the blonde and her apprentice appeared from a gambling den causing Kumori to snort with laughter. Looked like she was back at it again. Kumori paused to think about it as the blonde meandered down the street. That ploy at the gambling table had worked so well. Idea forming she sent a few nondescript looking clone to go socialize in the gambling dens to gather information. She was going to hang in this town for a couple days to see if anyone from Konoha would show up, a couple clones hanging out on watch for any approaching Konoha shinobi. Hopefully Jiraiya had already called it in because she didn't have the means to do so herself. Worse comes to worse, she would just start heading to Konoha though she was hesitant to do so.
A couple hours later the clones released sending her the information she needed. The woman's name was Tsunade of the Legendary Sannin, and she was famous for losing money. In fact, every gambling den rejoiced when she decided to grace their doorstep, setting up particularly extravagant games with all or nothing steaks. Her apprentice was Shizune, and the pig was named Tonton and Tsunade was the granddaughter of the First Hokage, hence the valuable necklace. Kumori smirked. This was too much. Her reputation for losing was just what she needed to get the gambling dens to make some outrageous bets and she was going to do just that. If they tried to cheat, well, she would just cheat then first.
The next day
"Lady Tsunade!" called Shizune as she read the scroll that had been delivered. Her eyes grew wide in shock as she read it through.
Whomever this was either crazy or a genius.
One did not just impersonate Lady Tsunade, walk into every gambling den in town and just wipe them clean, then send a scroll to the person they impersonated to tell them what they had done then thank them 'for the luck.' Seeing a couple of seals at the bottom of the note Shizune frowned, seeing one was addressed to herself and one addressed to Tsunade. Touching her thumb to her seal a small scroll in a little leather bag that had a string attached appeared and Shizune opened it to find another seal with a note.
"Money for when Tsunade loses too much to pay for a place to sleep for the night. The seal is made to be reused so just put what you don't use on top then reactive it. It's sealed to your blood so no one cough*Tsunade*cough can steal it. Hope it helps make up for the inconvenience. P.S. I suggest you guys get out of town today before anyone realizes where you are staying. I laid a few false trails to slow down anyone looking for trouble." Curious and slightly disorientated Shizune activated the seal only to yelp as stacks of Ryo came out of the seal. Shocked Shizune quickly resealed the money and stuffed the tiny scroll in the leather pouch before hesitantly putting it in her ninja mesh shirt.
"Lady Tsunade, you should come see this!" Shizune called as she knocked on her teacher's door.
...
"What?!" Tsunade yelled as she slammed the paper on the table having finished reading it. She clenched her fist as it shook, face dark as Shizune tried to placate her.
"I'm sure it's not that bad my Lady, this stranger even shared some of the money," she pleaded. Tsunade turned burning eyes on her apprentice.
"The nerve of this woman?! She thinks that because she's Jiriaya's apprentice that I'll just let this slide?! That brat! Where is she?!" she yelled as Shizune jumped at the noise wringing her hands nervously.
"What do you mean Lady Tsunade? There was no name on the scroll claiming ownership of these actions, and they even gave you money in that seal for the trouble I think," said Shizune as her teacher turned to glare at her.
"Don't you see Shizune?! These are Jiraiya's seal, but this isn't Jiraiya. I would know these seals anywhere. That means that this must be his missing apprentice, the one we've been looking for," she said as she waved an arm in annoyance trying to think of when she had given someone luck yesterday, whatever that had meant. Her mind slowed to a crawl as she began to recall.
There had been a young woman huddled by the side of a building yesterday night. Tsunade remembered her now, recalling how pale and thin the woman was and feeling enough of a pang of pity to toss the young woman with long black hair a coin. It had only been 100 Ryo coin but it would be enough for her to eat something tonight. The hand that had darted out and caught it had been surprisingly sure and steady and lavender eyes had gazed up at her from an uneven dark fringe, curiosity in her eyes.
"You look like you could use a little luck," she had said gruffly. The smile the young woman gave her was surprisingly warm as she thanked her for her generosity, the two of them leaving.
Tsunade sighed as she rubbed her forehead with her fingers before pausing noting the seal at the bottom of the paper. Curious she activated it, finding two scrolls and a note. Frowning she decided to read the note first.
"WHAAAT?!"
An elderly lady that was going past the inn was so startled by the shriek that came from two buildings down she fell over and her granddaughter quickly helped her up. A clone in disguise watched as Tsunade scrambled out of the building just about frothing at the mouth with rage with Shizune scrambling right after her struggling with the luggage in her haste to try and keep up with her master. Chuckling the clone made a copy and released itself before following after the two to keep an eye on them. Across town from an inn near the gambling district, Kumori smirked at the memories before sighing her face falling. She wondered when her clone with Same-kun would check in with her. Later perhaps. She only wished she knew where Jiraiya was. Well, it was only a matter of time before he would find her.
...
Jiraiya punched the ancient tree he had landed on, feeling increasing frustration. They had lost the trail after coming on a battlefield strewn with corpses by a lake. He had checked them all and thankfully none where his student's. They had looked to be mist village hunter-nin, meaning that whoever had captured Kumori was a missing ninja. It looked like whomever the missing-nin was, he had been trained with Kenjutsu, seeing as most of the wounds on the dead had been inflicted with a long blade, probably a sword. Frowning he began to leaf through his bingo book looking for a missing-nin that would probably fit this MO. After a moment of not finding the right match, he sighed, releasing Inu before summoning a carrier toad.
"A message for the Hokage," he said as he passed the toad a newly finished message. Toad nodded before disappearing in a puff of smoke. Jiraiya sighed, before turning towards Konoha. He hoped that an agent would be able to recover Kumori and bring her back to the village. He just hoped that his student was alright.
...
A Toad appeared in the Hokage's office, causing the old man to lift an eyebrow in surprise. Jiraiya wasn't due to message him for another week. When the Hokage finished reading the note he somberly destroyed it before sighing.
"Tori," he called. The Anbu Black Ops appeared before him in a twist of shadows.
"Sir?"
"Summon Dog. I hate to keep dragging him out of retirement but I need him again," he said as the Anbu operative disappeared in a twist of shadows once more. Hiruzen sighed as he rubbed his eyes. He was getting too old for this.
Later that night
Kumori yawned widely from where she lounged in the hot spring. She frowned as she picked up the approaching chakra signature before relaxing upon recognizing it. After a moment she looked over her shoulder to find an Anbu black ops sitting on a tree branch above the fence of the hot springs.
"Good. You're here. How was your trip Dog?" she called as he slipped out of the shadow and onto the walkway to crouch by the steaming water.
"Easy enough. You're not very far from the village. I just got into town," he said as she hummed, eyes closed as she enjoyed the hot water.
"Yes, I had a clone looking for you. Then I had it lay a scent trail so you could find me here," she murmured sleepily as Kakashi nodded. It seems that Jiraiya had taught her proper procedure for recalling missing Shinobi well.
"You ready to go?" he asked. Kumori snorted before sending Kakashi an unimpressed look.
"I'm not. Just let me enjoy this a bit more. You don't mind, do you?" she murmured causing the man to chuckle before settling on his branch once more quietly observing the redhead from her place in the hot water. His eyes skimmed her form up and down, barely able to see through the steam with how cold the night was. A pity but no, he didn't mind waiting at all.
...
Seeing Konoha again after what felt like years was a bit surreal, at least to Kumori. Had it really only been a few months ago? She felt older on the inside, more developed and at ease, weary but confident, as she walked the streets by Kakashi's side, disguise in place as they headed to the Hokage's office.
"I already told him we are coming," Kakashi said quietly, his voice slightly muffled by the Anbu mask he was wearing. Kumori nodded distractedly as she took in the village in the predawn light. So familiar yet so different. She sighed. It was probably too much to ask to see Naruto before she left again. He was sure to have changed and grown in the time he had last seen her. Kids usually did at that age. She knew that she was different even though they were only halfway through with her training, that it had aged her mentally. This next leg of their trip was sure to do the same if not more. Being here in this place was leaving her feeling a bit morose, knowing that she couldn't really visit, nor was she here to stay, that they were only passing through. It would be nice to stay in one place for a while with how they had been constantly traveling for months on end. Kumori had to keep herself from looking up at the feel of a large approaching chakra from the rooftops. It wouldn't do to give away the fact that she was a sensor.
"Kakashi! My eternal rival! What are you doing in those clothes?" came a loud voice from above as a shadow descended towards them. Kumori fingered the handle of the Kunia strapped to her arm eyes darting to Kakashi to gauge his response to such an open reveal of his identity while in special ops uniform and disguise. Kakashi took off the dog mask with an eye grin revealing mismatched eyes as he smiled at the loud newcomer.
"Maa, Gai, don't be so loud. Not everyone wakes as early as you do. The civilians are still sleeping, don't bother them," he said as Gai came forward into the light of a streetlight revealing a bowl haircut, greenish spandex bodysuit from the yellow glow of the light, and a serious looking face. Eyes holding no humor as he stared at Kakashi who had a hand up in a placating fashion.
"I thought you retired," said the black-haired man as he crossed his arms causing Kakashi to chuckle nervously.
"Well I am, but the Hokage needed me for a specific task," he said as Gai's serious gaze turned to the disguised Kumori, her hair black though her eyes remained violet.
"I apologize for the inconvenience, "Kumori murmured as she bowed slightly to Kakashi and Gai in apology, her voice demur. Gai sputtered as his eyes widened cheeks burning in chagrin.
"Wha-no! I'm sorry! I wasn't blaming you, it was- it's just..." he sputtered as he struggled to find the words to express what he was trying to say. Kumori's head tilted to the side as she examined this unusual man for a moment before grinning warmly.
"It's ok. You're just trying to be a good friend and look out for him. Anbu life can be very hard for a person mentally and physically, so I understand why seeing him in uniform would scare you," she said as Gai relaxed slightly, "And don't worry! This isn't going to be a common occurrence hopefully." At her words, Gai sent Kakashi a deep look causing the white-haired man to eye smile.
"Well we best be going. Later Gai," he called with a wave. Gai watched as the young woman and one of his oldest friends turn to leave, his shoulders tensing. It wasn't something he liked to broadcast, that he could feel a little of people's chakra when he was near them, but to him hers was a beacon, one of the reasons he had come this way to begin with. She must have large reserves and there was no way she was a civilian with such large reserves. That made her a Shinobi, but he had never seen her in the village. There was no way she was a Konoha ninja, she was too old to be a Gennin leaving him tense as he watched them leave. Mind made up he prepared to Shunshin over to where they where up the street, intending to appear next to Kumori, except she had disappeared causing him to blink in surprise as he looked around for her or her chakra signature. After a moment she reappeared on Kakashi's other side, her gaze wary.
"I'll come with you," he said, as he came up taking Kumori's other side. She sent him another wary look before shooting Kakashi a meaningful look causing the white haired man to sigh as they continued down the street.
"Gai, what are you doing?" he asked as they continued towards Hokage tower, the two next to him eyeing each other warily.
Gai noted that this woman seemed to trust Kakashi would have her back, her attention not leaving him for a second as she stared back, violet eyes a deeper stormier color. How had she known where he was going to end up and react that quickly when he had Shunshined? Why couldn't he feel her chakra anymore? Who was she?
Kumori stared back as this weird man's thick eyebrows slowly drew closer together as he stared at her leaving his face in an intense frown as she began to glare back her proverbial hackles rising.
"Gai." Kakashi called warningly seeing their staring competition having elevated, tensions rising without a word. He sighed wearily when he received no answer.
"Alright that enough!" Kakashi called, fed up with the both of them as he grabbed Kumori's shoulder and pulled her to his other side to where he was between the two of them now. He took her by the shoulder's and leaned down a bit so he could look her in the eye.
"Kumori, I trust Gai with my life. Do you mind telling him who your sensei is? I don't think the Hokage will mind too much as long as he keeps quiet about it, and it might help alleviate... some of this... whatever you want to call it," he said sending Gai a significant look. The man in spandex seemed to mull it over for a minute before finally nodding, his face still abnormally serious.
"Very well. If it is between you and the Hokage and if it the Hokage's wish, then your secret is safe with me," he said. Kakashi sent Kumori a questioning look as she stared at him unhappily. She sighed and rolled her eyes clearly exasperated with the both of them.
"Sure why not, it's not like no one is supposed to know Kakashi," she groused sarcastically as he eye smiled.
"I will take that as a yes. She's the Toad's apprentice," he said. It took a minute for it to sink in before Gai's eyes went wide with shock.
"WHAT?! SHE'S-" Kumori and Kakashi leaped at him swiftly covering his mouth, a vein in Kumori's temple throbbing with anger.
"Tell the whole town while you're at it! Kakashi, can I use a memory seal on him?! He obviously can't shut up!" she snapped clearly annoyed. Gai's hand shot up to catch her wrist in a bruising grip, eyes flashing a warning but she glared back, as if daring him to make a move. Kakashi's eyes widened.
"You know how to do that?" he gasped taken aback.
"What do you think I've been doing the last several years?! Sitting around reading his manuscripts so I can pick up on his glorious writing style?!" she hissed angrily as she shot Gai a glare and tugged her wrist free.
"He writes?" Kakashi asked sounding slightly confused. Kumori groaned.
"He's going to publish his first of the series soon. Remind me and I'll give you one," she said as Kakashi shot Gai a meaningful look before slowly removing his hand from the other man's mouth. Gai was back to frowning as he regarded her for a minute. After a moment he turned to Kakashi.
"Why would he train someone whose not from Konoha? How can we know that she is to be trusted?" he asked quietly as Kakashi sighed.
"Maa, it's complicated but she's trustworthy. She's going to be joining the village officially in the next year or so, as soon as he's done training her," he said as Gai regarded her critically, eyes searching. She raised a brow, clearly unimpressed as she crossed her arm, hip cocked to the side.
"You want to fight or something?-"
"Kumori!"
"I accept your challenge. I'll be waiting to spar you when you return to the village," Gai called as Kakashi sent him a baleful look.
"Just get out of here Gai," Kakashi called clearly annoyed. It would be daybreak soon and he needed to get them to Hokage tower before civilians were out and about. With a two finger salute and grin, Gai vanished in a flurry of leaves though Kumori could feel his chakra reappear on a rooftop a block down.
"The nerve of that ass," she muttered with a deep frown as Kakashi regarded her carefully.
"You know everyone is going to be like that at first? They aren't going to trust you till much later with you being an outsider and all, even if Jiraiya is your teacher. It's going to take time." he stated casually before taking a moment to peak out of the corner of his eye at her. Kumori stared back unimpressed. After a moment he chuckled as he rubbed the back of his head.
"Maa, alright I get it, enough lecturing for one day. Let's go ahead and head to the Hokage's office. Your sensei is bound to turn up soon," he said as he gestured for Kumori to follow the two of them taking to the rooftop to enter through the Hokage's balcony.
...
Kiba yawned as swept the front poach, light from the sun starting to peak over the horizon lighting Konoha in its glorious glow. Why did school have to start at seven? That meant he had to get up at five to do his chores and help with the kennels or there would be hell to pay from either his mother or sister, whoever got to him first. Kiba frowned as he sniffed the air, picking up on a scent that he hadn't smelled for a while. He frowned remembering smelling that scent on Naruto at one point and around town here and there. He hummed thinking of the young woman that he had traced it to, remembering when the scent had disappeared and Naruto had gone back to being moodier and more withdrawn.
He barely spoke to anyone that week, spending the time to mope forlornly or get angry about little thing as the scent of other person became fainter every day until it was finally gone. Kiba shook his head remembering one of the fights the kid had gotten into. Naruto could be so stupid sometimes, but it had been clear that something had him upset. Kiba hummed as he worked remembering and thinking back. Naruto hadn't perk up until he turned up with a book one day of all things and an impish grin, a familiar scent on the book. Kiba wondered if Naruto knew that woman was back yet? Kiba leaned his head back and sniffed as he moved away from the compound and into the road, brows furrowed as he followed it. It seemed like it was heading towards the Hokage's tower.
"Kiba! Where are you?!" came his mother's annoyed yell causing Kiba to flinch in surprise before running back.
"Yeah yeah, I'm coming Ma!" he yelled as he entered the gate of the clan compound. He would be sure to tell him if he saw him on the way to school.

AN: Hey guys, hows it hanging? I got a new computer! Whooo! Sooo the last six months involved me jumping around from state to state for training for my job then going to specific locations to ply my trade before being able to come back home. Not a very conducive environment for writing but great for gathering ideas. By the way, have you ever written yourself into a corner but already posted the chapter but then was like, 'How do I even undermine my own story like this?' Welp. That just happened. A bit of a quicker chapter but the other is on its way soon. Like the previous chapter, this one was written then rewritten several different times. Nothing seemed like a good idea until this baby appeared before me. I wanted to smack myself in the head when I thought of it but settled for smiling and getting to work.
I know I don't usually do this but it just hit me that people are supposed to respond to comments sent to them to encourage more comments. I feel like an idiot and am going to bang my head against the proverbial wall for not realizing this sooner. What can I say? Socializing has helped me discover the obvious of positive social interactions. Since there are so many I am only going to address the ones for the previous chapter. Thank you guys so much for the feedback and encouragement!
Big Fan chapter 13 . Jan 7
Q: I think you should pair her up with Jiraiya or Ibiki. What villages are they visiting? Will she get to spar with Tsunade? Will she try her hand at gambling?
-We will just have to wait and see. They are visiting all sorts of villages, more so in the Land of Fire or smaller nations, not the other Five Great nations. They are trying to make her cover for the Land of Fire which is why they are staying so close to home base. Well she sure as hell pissed her off enough to warrent a spar but we will see. As for gambling that actually hit me with a eureka moment. You actually helped me snap out of my funk and get this chapter on the Road, so thank you. As you can see, she didn't gamble with her but if they manage to make peace we will see if the girls have a girls night. *shudders* I can only imagine the destruction.
SirensSingg chapter 13 . Aug 7, 2017

-I will take that as a compliment, thank you. ^_^ I do enjoy cliffhangers because of how many I encounter with some really great stories.

-Kukuku very true, guess we will just have to wait and see. *pervy grin*
Guest chapter 13 . Apr 27, 2017
You've got me hooked on this. I like the main character and can relate to the way she thinks, which makes me happy. And... Just, this is really good. I don't want to stop reading!
-*Gai level smile and thumbs up* Thank you so much! I try to make her relatable and human

I love this! I mean damn. The anticipation for the next chapter is killing me. More please! You, my fellow writer. Are amazing.

Guest chapter 13 . Apr 8, 2017
Well, I really like this story but you haven't updated in a while. Please continue with the story and finish it. I would have her get with Kakashi. Or Naruto could effectively create his own clan by letting everyone else bit him that comes through the lake. Anyway, I think Kumori should inherit the chakra chains and the ability to have the hair split and weave into 9 tails of it. Its kinda dramatic.
-Thank you and I'm sorry about that. I've been wanting to become the writer of my own stories and sometimes its a war with myself to work on this or work on my personal story. I'm telling myself this is practice in character development so that my own story will be a finished product is how I look at it to keep myself motivated. I will do my best to. That is true, but whose to say that Naruto is going to be the only one to make his own clan that way? Kukuku ^o^ True chakra chains would be epic, but at the same time I don't want to make her too overpowered. She's going to be strong through her training, but she's going to have to struggle to get there. Haha, yes it is pretty dramatic. She's going to have a version of that since she learned Jiraiya's needle Jizo, which is a hair jutsu.
Xero chapter 13 . Apr 2, 2017
Perhaps, concerning relationships, all of the above? Maybe nothing too serious between any of them except whoever you decide she ends up falling for. I'm totally biased when it comes to Kakashi, so he's my vote. I wouldn't be mad at any of the other choices, though.
-Haha, I like the way you think. Yeah, I totally get it. Kakashi is totally my personal favorite but I think it would take a series of events and lots of time before they could really bond. of course you can't blame a guy for looking *wink wink* but I think it would take more to get him to act on it.
Guest chapter 13 . Apr 1, 2017
*FLIPS TABLE* WHY CLIFF HANGERS, WHHHYYYYYYYYY. Please update soon I am a faithful reader I am trying to be patient but when you write so fabulously it makes it difficult.
-Kyaaa! Runs away cackling madly! Thank you I will update that much faster!
Guest chapter 13 . Apr 1, 2017
Second review of the day! And I am actually reviewing the chapter this time.
Great chapter, I already can't wait to see the next. Understandably, in her fuzzy state, Kumori don't remember properly everything that happened and her mind is associating the last thing she saw together, that is : Jiraiya, fire and pain. I just hope she will realize that what happened was an accident sooner than later. Poor Jiraiya. Can't wait for her meeting with Tsunade! These two together are so going to terrorize Jiraiya. Once Kumori realize she has no reason to fear Tsunade the way she couldn't trust Konoha's medics.
How did this accident happened by the way? Was there some kind of outside force here? Does this have anything to do with the salve Jiraiya didn't gave her (I'm not sure if Kisame was the one to give it to her or if this is an elaborate plot from someone else)? Was this because she comes from the far shore? Does it have to do with something different within her chakra?
...I wonder how long Kisame will keep her. Will Jiraiya think it was her fight or flight instinct coming back? Or will he realize she was kidnapped? Is Kisame getting attached to Kumori or is this more of an obsession? Both at the same time? How long is Tsunade going to stay around? Will she help find Kumori? After all, she seemed pretty interested once she realized where she comes from. I can easily picture those two woman going on a girl's night together and exasperating Shizune once Tsunade become Hokage. What a sight it will be.
As you can see, your fic keep me pretty interested. Please forgive any errors in my review, I am too lazy to make sure everything is written right. So, see you next chapter!
-Thank you very much! Ah, such good stuff to work with! Yeah I thought about tormenting the both of them but that just hurts me on the inside too much to do that to them, one of the reasons I kept rewriting this. There just didn't seem like there would be any good way to include Kisame's kidnapping the way I wanted it (You'll see what I'm talking about later in the story,) without damaging the relationship between them too much... Well, I guess I'm tormenting Jiraiya a bit in this chapter. Poor guys is all stressed out right now. Haha, yes I was wondering how the two of them should meet. To be quite honest, Kumori really doesn't know a lot about Jiraiya or his team mates, she just gets this sense that he seems to know a lot of people and is pretty strong and knowledgeable. She also gets why the Hokage asked such a monumental task of this guy because if he put his mind to it and really decided to do it he could. Haha, I have a feeling Jiraiya and Kumori are going to have more fun terrorizing Tsunade first before Kumori and Tsunade decide to team up on Jiraiya for a bit. Hmm, that is true but Kumori has trust issues so one can't assume that just because Tsunade is his old team mate that the two of them are going to hit it off. I'm sure Tsunade's attitude might annoy Kumori and in turn she'll probably be an ass and piss her off for the hell of it to be quiet honest but we will see.
Ah yes, the Accident. No, there was not an outside force acting on her, not in the way you think. No, this has nothing to do with the salve that Jiraiya didn't give her. if you figured it out by now, it was Kisame that left her the healing Salve because he knew how hard she had been working and felt that she needed it.
Was this because she comes from far shore?
Yes. Absolutely.
Does it have to do with something different within her chakra?
Yes again. *tears of pride* I'm so happy you got it! It will be explained in further detail later in the story.
Ah, the subject of Kisame. We will just have to wait and see ^3^ as for attachment or obsession, a bit of both really. He's very curious about this lady and the secrets she seems to hold. Where is she from? Why is Jiraiya teaching her? Why does Jiraiya care? What is her and Jiriaya's relationship? How did she get hurt? Is there a particular reason she has increased her chakra reserves so quickly over a relatively brief period of time? Why is she training so hard? Why is she so determined to improve? how is she able to keep up with such a punishing workout and training regime? Does she have an advance healing factor? Where is her family? Is she from a Clan and if so what Clan so he can learn what to expect from her?
Haha, yes those two (Kumori/Tsunade) would be more than a handful during a girls night if they can get along long enough haha. Haha drunken bar fight, lets go!
Haha its all good! Thank you for the long and WONDERFUL review, this is pretty great. I hope that answered some of your questions!
Guest chapter 13 . Apr 1, 2017
Hi, before starting this review, I would like to mention that I haven't read the chapter yet, but I fear that I would forget what I have to say about the possible paring if I waited to read the chapter before saying it so... Here I am.
Jiraiya:
Kakashi
Gai
Kisame
And now, I have to read the chapter so... See you in a couple of hours when I have finished reading and reviewing the actual chapter
-Thanks for the feedback! Hopefully any relationships that bloom will make sense when they do happen!
Dark Rose Charm chapter 13 . Apr 2, 2017

Soaring Hawk1 chapter 13 . Apr 1, 2017
Love it, can not wait for the next chapter. Keep up the good work.
-Thank you I will!
chapter 13 . Apr 1, 2017
I'm personally hoping for Kumori and Kakashi to get together. But, who says she can't try things out with Kisame first? Maybe like a fling or something? I loved this chapter and I look forward to Kumori and Tsunade forming a nice and kinda friendly relationship together.
-Haha for sure. I think her loyalty to the village would hold her back but something could always... happen. *ominous music and evil laughter* Haha we will see.
nina-b chapter 13 . Apr 1, 2017
I just discovered your story. Very great. I read all the chapter in one afternoon.
Thank you for your writing.
I hope you have a great job.
-Wow, thank you very much! I love to binge read too, so I'm glad it was engaging enough to do that for you. No, thank you for reading! it helps me a lot to know that you guys out there are looking over this stuff. ^u^ haha, it's decent. We'll see if I decide to keep with it. I can be pretty draining to tell the truth and doesn't offer a lot of schedule stability but everything else is pretty stable from my health care to my pay so that's good.
BloodyLoved chapter 13 . Apr 1, 2017
I loved this chapter. So excited for the next one. Hope you update soon. Can't wait for the next chapter. :-D
-Thank you very much! Hope that you liked it!
AAAND on a special note I saw this and decided to include it.
Guest chapter 10 . Mar 6, 2017
I guessed that Kumori's red eyes were caused by some of Kurama's gene which where transferred to her from Naruto, but now her best friend has the same eyes too? Or is it two unrelated events?
-Her friends eyes are red because she bit the only other known Uzumaki that is in Orochimaru's control. Gives significant look and coughs really hard *COUGH*KARRIN!COUGH* Oh, *cough* sorry about that, it must be this cold going round huh?
As for Kumori's eyes, you are dead on the money. But you have to keep in mind that the Kyubi was split into two, yin and yang, it's body and it's chakra, the chakra being sealed into Naruto. Gives VERY significant look.
AN: Alright guys, till next time! P.S. sorry for being such a dick and leaving that cliffhanger for so long, I thought it was going to be an easy write but I was veeery wrong.
