-dexter P.O.V.- -same place- -4:42 p.m.-

"hey dex" blossom sang.

"yeah-" i trail off noticing an 'old friend' honestly I should have expected this. to think I thought this would be a genuinely nice get together. I I knew this was a bad idea but does Smithie ever listen to me? No. No. I took my glasses off wiping them in my shirt. I needed something to distract my self something just to do. this is bad. I jumped when someone grabbed my shoulder. right. I almost forgot. " i'm sorry. what?"

"dex,Dee-dee said 'somethings wrong' and to run to you." she sounded suspicious, by that I mean she framed it in a way that made it sound like a mundane inquiry. The weather is a better subject it seems as she stared at the sky.

"come over here"she looked surprised, but listened. i grabbed her arm -it's a bad habit we both developed from having siblings to quite literally drag out of trouble- and ran inside my room.

-Dexter's room-

"um...dex i don't know whats up but you're you going to be alright,i promise" I don't think I'm the one to worry about in this scenario. I really didn't want to make any promises I cnt keep to her.

"listen what ever happens stay here, okay"

"what do you mean by that" Well, if I told you you'd want to help.

"just promise"

"okay...wait are you going to come in one peace?"man she really isn't as stupid as the others huh?i nodded"great then after what ever happens we can buy a farm no a ranch with pigs and horses and live happily ever after"oh i remember that was a crazy idea i had when i was little how'd she remember that we were at least 7."no? ...oh well on a more up-to-date fact are you sure you going to come back?.

"yes"or i'll try "i'm going to come back," I made a promise I cant keep. I literally had one goal. Blossom... you have to promise me you'd be less of an distraction if... when I get back.

"okay...Go!"then there was a scream. I doubt she heard it but for me it came clear as day. "can't i come too?!" I walked swiftly into the hallway.

"No." there was no reason to make her concerned than necessary. Alright. Now... show time.

I walked down the hall with urgency. passing by cousins my age leading the children out and somewhere safer than where their parents were probably fighting. it was hectic and messy. Probably would have been worse if I didn't expect this. "Dexter." I turned to my mother. age and having to deal with my father taking a toll on her. She looked at me sullenly, she was probably the last person to want me her right now. "Where's your sister?"

"Most likely preparing the children for export."

"That's good." she said looking out the window. I know what she's thinking but I also know where her loyalty lies. She may not speak her name but she'd never disown or bad mouth her. she'd never-

"She should be out there!" and he said it. the one thing with I really didn't want to hear.

"and we should have postponed." Smithie glared at me. I know now's not the time for this but maybe smithie should be reminded who he's in the presence of.

"Oh have they missed a child? what a shame."

"Enough. Dexter." I turned to stare at my mother. she was still focused on the window. "You must understand. The mistress Is bred to be the strongest, the leader. At least consider that we need her out there."

"My sister is not a Fighter. She is not a leader."

"She was born-"

"And she developed into a Homemaker. she had just the Title of Heir for a week and became a mess. in no way fit to lead, delusions and hallucinations from lack of sleep. Now it's mine. and I might not be as old and with as much influence. but I will not have you disrespecting the 'Mistress' in my presence. And I will not have you talking to me like I'm some child that can be intimidated by mere naysay such as she." I paused. They seemed taken aback by my little rant so I guess that's a victory. "I listened to you about throwing this damned thing now you sit down and follow orders."

"fine..."

"Good. Mother? Your thoughts?"

"They're going to push up." she said seemingly in a trance.

"And our people?" she hesitated.

"There's are quite afew out there dexter." Great...

"Alright." I guess this calls for a plan.

"We can't fight them dexter" I think this call for a different plan.

"Then we retreat. Giving the Children time to make it out. Then we High tail it the other way."

"We're supposed to give up our land, just like that?" Smithie said through grinted teeth.

"I guess we wouldn't have to if someone listened to reason earlier. Correct?"

"wonderful lay out of the plan, but how do we do it?" my mother spoke up.

"Great question" I have no clue.

I'm both relieved and bothered at how short this was. Heh, why did I think this is okay? There wasn't much to work with so I hope this isn't too bad
