Pine Hills, Maine

Children and adults swarmed through the stores, getting their costumes and candy ready for tomorrow. All Hallows' Eve, a festival that was started by the Celtic people to appease the demon Samhain. The veil between the living and the dead was thinnest during this day and it was the only time that Samhain could be summoned from Hell. To hide from him, the Celts wore masks to hide from him, carved pumpkins to worship him, and left sweets at their doors to appease him. But Samhain was eventually exorcised back to Hell and All Hallows' Eve became nothing more than a yearly holiday, its true purpose forgotten.

With all the rush, no one would have ever suspected anything for the four beings walking down the sidewalk together. They observed the humans with mixed emotions. Balthazar was amused, Adriel apathetic, Uriel was almost disgusted, and Castiel felt saddened. The four angels had been sent here to stop another seal from being broken. A witch was attempting to raise the demon Samhain, his presence alone could summon ghosts, zombies, and other abominations. He would slaughter this town and countless more. The only way to stop this was to find and kill the witch before the ritual was complete or destroy the entire town. Uriel was quite insistent on the latter. Castiel was opposed to the idea and Balthazar and Adriel agreed they should try and find the witch first before smiting every living thing for miles. But so far their search had come up empty and time was running out.

"We should destroy it now," Uriel spoke.

"There's still time to find the witch," Castiel disagreed.

"The witch has already killed two of her necessary sacrifices. One more is all that is needed to raise Samhain," Adriel stated.

"Then the real party begins," commented Balthazar.

"The Winchesters and Abigail Grayson are searching for this witch as we speak. If they can locate her, we can stop this," Castiel said. The other three all gave him disapproving looks. They had orders to obey Dean Winchester should he arrive to investigate the deaths but the angels weren't pleased by the idea of taking orders from a human. So far they've gladly avoided the Winchesters to solve this problem themselves. But the witch has masked herself with powerful magic and their searches were in vain.

"Do we really need the glorified savior, the abomination, and the immoral thief for this?" Uriel mocked.

"Dean Winchester has only ever been willing to sacrifice himself for the greater good, no one else. He'll never do what's necessary Castiel. He can't lead an army," Adriel argued.

"Are you suggesting we disobey our orders?" Castiel replied. None of the others answered that. Defiance was the worst sin any angel could commit. Humans were the ones that were granted free will. Angels were made to obey.

"We should talk with them. Find out what they know and if they can't help then we destroy the town." Castiel added. He took no pleasure in this but it's what needed to be done. Too many seals have already been broken and they couldn't afford to lose anymore.

The four angels waited for the Winchesters at their hotel room. Castiel could have gone to Dean directly if he wished but after finding a hex bag hidden in the room, decided to wait. It would have a better effect to ambush the Winchesters and show them the consequences of not being cautious. Castiel sat on one of the beds, Uriel stared out the window, Balthazar was eating from Dean's candy stash, and Adriel waited right beside the door.

"I was not flirting with her," Dean could be heard arguing outside. Normal humans wouldn't be able to hear it from inside the room but angels could.

"Well you didn't seem eager to stop asking her questions," Bela argued back.

"She's a high school student for crying out loud," Dean said.

"So she's a few years younger than your usual preference," Bela replied.

"Why do I have to keep playing couples therapist with you two?" moaned Sam.

"Shut up Sam!" Dean and Bela both yelled at him at once. Uriel scoffed, clearly disgusted by the whole conversation. Balthazar seemed amused, enjoying it like one of those programs he likes to watch on television. Adriel threw an annoyed look at Castiel.

The three humans stepped inside the hotel room and instantly drew their weapons. Bela aimed her pistol at Adriel and Sam pointed his at Castiel. The angels showed no concern over the threat and rightfully so. "Guys wait!" Dean shouted. "That's Castiel the angel," he said as he put his hand on Sam's gun. Bela did the same.

Dean glanced around, noticing the other three. "Them I don't know."

Sam looked like he couldn't be happier to meet them while Bela seemed reluctant. "Hello Sam. Abigail," Castiel greeted them.

"Oh my god…I mean…" whispered Sam, realizing that kind of talk probably wasn't appropriate around angels. Truthfully the Lord cared little for the foul language used by humans. "It's an honor. I've heard a lot about you."

Sam held his hand out, confusing Castiel for a second then he remembered it was a human custom to shake hands. The thought of touching anyone with demon blood inside of them revolved the angel. But Sam was doing his best to be good so Castiel shook his hand. "And I you," replied Castiel.

"Two thousands year you've been here Cas and you still don't know what a handshake is," Balthazar chuckled.

"Sam Winchester. The boy with the demon blood," Adriel spoke with slight distaste in her tone.

"We are all glad you've ceased your extracurricular activities," Castiel said, referring to when Sam exorcised demons with his mind. The human seemed a little confused by the semi-condemnations.

"Let's keep it that way," remarked Uriel who was still facing the window.

"Yeah okay chuckles," Dean called out to Uriel.

Balthazar smiled, "He wouldn't know how if he tried." Uriel just shook his head and sighed in annoyance.

"And Abigail Grayson…" Adriel said. "…the women Dean Winchester ransomed us into rescuing from Hell."

"Uh…right…uh thank you for saving me," Bela said, confused about what to say.

"Thank Dean," Adriel said bluntly as if to say it wasn't their idea or that they liked it.

"Well unlike my colleagues here, I actually am a fan of yours," said Balthazar who actually did shake Sam's hand. "Balthazar. My two droll companions are Uriel and Adriel and you've already met Castiel." The angel introduced himself along with the others. "I have to say the three of you trumping around in each other's dreams was priceless."

"You were there?" frowned Sam.

"I had a lot of free time on my hands," Balthazar shrugged.

"And…wait a second. Were you eating my stash?!" snapped Dean, noticing the chocolate on Balthazar's face and the empty wrappers on a nearby counter.

"I was protecting you from cholesterol," Balthazar licked the chocolate off his lips.

Castiel decided they had wasted enough time and got to the point. "The raising of Samhain. Have you stopped it?" he demanded.

"Why?" asked Dean.

Castiel was losing his patience. "Dean have you located the witch?"

"Yeah we know who she is," answered Dean.

"And is the witch dead?" asked Adriel.

"No but we know who it is," said Sam.

"And vice versa," commented Balthazar. He held up a hex bag and tossed over to Dean who caught it.

"We found it inside the wall of your room," stated Castiel. "If we hadn't found it, surely one or all of you would be dead."

The three humans all exchanged nervous glances. "Do you know where the witch is?" inquired Adriel.

"We're…working on it," said Dean.

"In other words you don't," said Balthazar.

"That is unfortunate," said Castiel. They were out of options and no other choice. The humans wouldn't approve but that was irrelevant.

"Why?" asked Bela.

"The raising of Samhain is one of the 66 seals," explained Castiel.

"So this is about your buddy Lucifer," commented Dean.

"Lucifer is no friend of ours," Uriel sternly replied.

"It's just an expression," Dean sighed with annoyance.

"Lucifer cannot rise," said Castiel. "The breaking of the seal must be prevented at all costs."

"Wonderful," muttered Bela. "Now that you're here why don't you smite the bitch and we can sit this one out?"

"We are not omniscient. This witch is very powerful. She is cloaked from even our methods," answered Castiel.

"Okay but we already know who the witch is. Together…" Sam tried to say.

"Enough of this," Uriel interrupted him as he finally turned around to face the humans.

"Does that mean you have a plan asshat?" Dean glared at him.

"As a matter of fact I do," Uriel stated.

"The three of you need to leave this town immediately," Castiel told the humans.

"Why?" asked Bela.

"Because we're going to destroy it," Adriel answered. The three humans were stunned into silence.

"That's your plan? You're going to smite the whole freaking town?" gasped Dean.

"We're out of time," Castiel explained. "This witch has to die. The seal must be saved."

"There are a thousand people here," Sam pleaded with them.

"1,214," Uriel said matter-of-factly.

"And you're willing to kill all of them?" Sam asked, unable to believe what he was hearing.

"Yes," Adriel stated coldly.

"Won't be as big of a fireworks show as Sodom and Gomorrah but it'll get the job done," stated Balthazar.

"Look I understand this is regrettable…" Castiel tried to reason with the humans.

"Regrettable?" snapped Dean.

"We have to hold the line. Too many seals have been broken already," Castiel glared at him.

"So you screwed the pooch on some seals and now this town has to pay the price?" Dean demanded in an insolent tone.

Castiel couldn't understand Dean's reluctance. It was tragic but necessary. "It's the lives of 1,000 people against the lives of six billion. There's a bigger picture here," he said.

"Right 'cause you're bigger-picture kind of guys," Dean muttered.

Castiel was starting to lose his patience. "Lucifer cannot rise," he said firmly. "He does and Hell rises with him. Is that something that you're willing to risk?"

"Don't you folks think this is a bit of overkill? Wiping out the entire town?" Bela asked. "Why don't you just help us find the witch and you can smite her?"

"Do you have any leads on her whereabouts?" asked Adriel.

"Uhh…no," Bela admitted. Dean and Sam threw a look, no doubt wanting her to remain silent before revealing any more inconvenient truths.

"Castiel we're wasting time with these mud monkeys," Uriel sighed in irritation.

"I'm sorry Dean but we have our orders," Castiel agreed with his brother though he wished Uriel didn't use such language.

"No you can't do this. You're…angels. You're supposed to be merciful," protested Sam. Castiel felt slightly guilty for disappointing him. The human had a high opinion of angels but the reality wasn't quite what he was expecting. Castiel wished all angels could be the way Sam Winchester wanted. Merciful and noble in everything they do. But they were soldiers of God and soldiers sometimes did terrible things for the greater good.

"Says who?" scoffed an amused Uriel.

"There is no choice," Adriel stated.

"Of course you have a choice," argued Dean. "I mean come on you never questioned a crap order?"

"No," Adriel answered bluntly.

"Great. A bunch of hammers with fluffy wings," Dean said disgusted.

"Look even if you don't understand, have faith. The plan is just," Castiel spoke.

"How can you even say that?" demanded Sam.

"Because it comes from heaven. That makes it just," Castiel answered him.

"It must be nice to be so sure of yourself," Dean scoffed.

"Oh please," Adriel rolled her eyes. "Whenever your father gave you an order you did exactly as you were told so don't thumb your nose at us you hairless ape!"

Dean and Adriel kept their angry eyes locked on one another as Balthazar started cracking his knuckles. "If you'll excuse use folks, Uriel and I need to visit the Asteroid Belt and borrow a few rocks floating about. Shouldn't take us more than an hour to get back and get this all over with," he said.

"Now hang on!" shouted Dean. "Nobody's bombing anything. Plan's changed." Castiel wasn't surprised that Dean was willing to defy the will of heaven. He wasn't surprised but he wasn't happy either.

"You think you can stop us?" Uriel tried his best not to laugh.

"No," shrugged Dean as he started approaching the angel. "But if you're gonna smite this whole town then you're gonna have to smite us with it because we are not leaving. You went to the trouble of busting me out of hell so I figure I'm worth something to the man upstairs. You wanna waste me? See how he digs that."

"You do understand who you're talking to right? Angelic soldiers far superior to you in well…everything. What's to stop us from just dragging the whole lot of you out of town?" Balthazar pointed out.

"Then you'll have to kill me then we're right back to the same problem," Dean replied.

Balthazar shrugged, "Or we could put you to sleep then drag you out."

"If you wanted to do that Simon Cowell you would have already done it," Bela pointed out.

"Don't compare me to that hair gel loving…" Balthazar glared at her.

"Ya know all this talk of smiting leads me to think the whole bunch of you is trying to compensate for something," Dean insulted. Balthazar had an angry smile on his face while Uriel looked like he was ready to rip Dean's heart off.

"What's he talking about? Compensating for what?" asked a confused Adriel. Bela was trying her best not to laugh, Dean and Sam gave her an incredulous look, while Balthazar sighed as he shook his head. Adriel wasn't exactly the foremost expert on human expressions.

"Look we can do this," Dean said, getting back to the topic as hand. "We will find that witch and we will stop the summoning."

"Castiel. I will not let these…" Uriel protested.

"Enough," Castiel said, silencing everyone. "I suggest you move quickly," he told Dean. The angels teleported away one by one.

"He will fail," Adriel spoke up, slowly walking around the park bench where Castiel and Uriel were seated. Balthazar claimed he was going to patrol the town to make sure no demons are lurking around to aid the witch but Castiel was sure his brother was doing other things as well. Namely indulging himself in the abundant sweets and chocolates all over town.

"You don't know that. Besides the decision's been made," Castiel replied.

"By a mud monkey," spat Uriel.

Castiel was growing weary of his brother's constant insults that bordered on blasphemy. "You shouldn't say that," he said.

"It's what they are," shrugged Uriel. "Savages. Plumbing on two legs."

"You're close to blasphemy," Castiel warned him.

Uriel turned to Adriel. "You agree with me?" he asked.

"I…lost my temper. How you can tolerate that human Castiel I will never understand," Adriel sighed.

"There's a reason we were sent to save him. He has potential and may succeed here," Castiel stated. Uriel and Adriel weren't convinced. Uriel's doubt was based on his disdain for humans. As a specialist in purifying sinful populations, he never saw the good in humans. Adriel's doubt came from one of pragmatics. Dean Winchester wasn't willing to do whatever it takes to complete the mission and that made him unworthy of being put in a position of authority over them.

"I'll do another sweep of the town," Adriel said before teleporting away.

Castiel took a seat next to Uriel. "At any rate, it's out of our hands," Castiel said.

"It doesn't have to be," Uriel spoke.

"And what would you suggest?" asked Castiel.

"That we drag Dean Winchester, his demonic brother, and that whore out of here. Then we blow this insignificant pick prick off the map," Uriel answered.

Castiel glared at him. "You know our true orders. Are you prepared to disobey?" he snapped. Uriel didn't say a word but his silence spoke volumes.

"Free candy for everyone!" Balthazar called out as flocks of children surrounded him. He tossed bags of candy to each of them.

"Compliments of Dean Winchester," he added with a smirk on his face. Technically it was true, Balthazar stole Dean's wallet and had been using up all the money in the wallet and even giving a homeless man Dean's credit cards. Payback was sweet, especially after the insults that human gave. He didn't give away all the candy though. He left plenty of bags for himself. After all, Balthazar deserved something to make up for when the humans fail to stop Samhain's summoning It was getting dark and still no word from Castiel. That can't be good. They should have just bombarded the town and be done with it but Dean Winchester had to be the hero and save everyone. That's why Balthazar was wasting time getting candy and not helping the humans. Castiel, Adriel, and Uriel weren't helping them either so why should Balthazar be any different?

Taking a stroll down a street, he couldn't help but laugh watching everyone dressed in costumes going door to door asking for treats. Did they not understand that Halloween was a night of terror when people cowered in their homes terrified that Samhain might step inside and kill them? Boy how things have changed. Balthazar started eating some of his candy when he noticed the Winchesters and Bela walking down the street, obviously searching for something or someone.

"Happy Halloween mudfish. How goes your search?" Balthazar called out to them with his mouth full of chocolate.

They finally recognized him and if they weren't pissed off before all of this, they were now. "Where the hell have you been?! That demon is free!" Dean shouted.

Balthazar mockingly clapped. "Well done boys. Way to save the day," he said, unable to resist twisting the knife just a little.

"Are you done? That demon is out there and raising God knows what. If we don't stop him…" Sam snapped.

"We? There is no we. You had your chance to stop all this and you blew it," Balthazar said before shoving his bags of candy into Dean's hands. "Now do something useful and hold this while I show you how a professional handles these things."

Dean didn't saw a word. He just threw the bags to the side. Children nearby noticed and quickly scrambled to grab them. Dean gave Balthazar a mocking shrug but the angel managed to keep his smile. "No surprise. You Winchesters can't seem to do anything right," he mocked before teleporting away. Balthazar can handle this demon without those mud monkeys' help.

Adriel was patrolling along the local graveyard when she noticed something. The earth surrounding headstones were starting to move and rise as hands broke free. One by one, undead rose from their coffins digging themselves to the surface. Samhain has arrived then. The Winchesters have failed and the seal was broken. Furious as Adriel was, she had a new mission. Destroy the demon and end this madness. Adriel stormed into the graveyard and cut through hordes of zombies. Some she decapitated with a single blow to their heads, others she smited and turned to ash. They were no match for her but they were also slowing her down. She needed to find the demon, not his pawns.

Balthazar teleported next to her and took out dozens of others. "This is what happens when you send humans to do an angel's job," he muttered. Together, they cleared out the rest of the zombies as the Winchesters and Bela arrived at the cemetery.

"Oh go away you hairless apes. Haven't you been enough of a disappointment for one night?" Balthazar groaned upon seeing them.

"You know you could have just helped us instead running off pouting like a bunch of school children," Bela glared at him.

"Enough!" snapped Adriel. "Where is Samhain?"

Screams could be heard from the nearby mausoleum. "That answer your question?" Dean replied.

Adriel and Balthazar rushed towards with the humans right behind them. They went down a flight of stairs and found a group of high school aged humans all dressed for a party trapped behind metal bars inside a crypt. Zombies were breaking out of the walls and slaughtering the humans. Adriel and Balthazar simply walked past them, ignoring their cries for help as the two headed straight for Samhain. The demon was their real target. Kill him and his pawns will vanish.

"Hey! Where are you…?" Dean shouted at them but they moved on.

They came to the end of the hall where Samhain was preparing himself, obviously to expand his powers and summon more monsters. "Play times over you walking excrement!" Balthazar called out to him.

Samhain turned around and smiled. The two angels charged but the demon raised one of his hands and sent out a blinding flash of light. Adriel and Balthazar were both nearly knocked off their feet by the blast, their hosts flesh burning from the heat. Their senses were slightly overwhelmed but when the light vanished, Samhain was already charging at them. A leaping punch sent Balthazar flying down the hallway. Adriel grabbed the demon and the two of them slammed each other into the concrete walls, leaving cracks and holes as they wrestled each other for dominance.

Adriel had never fought a demon so strong. All the ones she encountered before were weak and pathetic but Samhain was different. His strength was comparable to an angel's. But Adriel didn't need to overpower him, just distract him. Balthazar came running back with a flying kick that launch Samhain to the opposite end of the crypt, cracking the concrete he came crashing into to. The demon might be strong but he was outnumbered. The two angels advanced on him, getting ready to finish this.

Samhain got back to his feet and started chanting, "Potestas Inferna, me confirma!" Suddenly Adriel found herself staggering somewhat, getting fatigued. Balthazar had the same problem as he tried to stay on his feet. The demon knew Enochian but that was impossible. Only angels knew the language that could affect them like this. Unless Samhain was taught it by Lucifer.

With a twist of his wrist, the demon summoned ghosts that swarmed Balthazar and carried right through a window outside. Adriel wasn't worried. Her brother could handle a few spirits but now the demon had stacked the odds in his favor. Samhain charged forward and grabbed the angel by the neck. Weakened by his chanting, Adriel couldn't fight back as he slammed her into the nearest wall. "I've forgotten how much a pain in the ass your kind is," Samhain whispered to her.

"Hey!" a voice shouted at them. Adriel turned and to her surprise it was Sam Winchester. Had the human lost his mind? He'll get slaughtered. Samhain noticed him too and lifted up his free hand to unleash another blast of energy. When the light cleared, Adriel couldn't believe it and neither could Samhain as Sam had walked right through it and didn't have a burn on him. It must be the demon blood.

"Yeah that demon ray stuff doesn't work on me," Sam mocked. Samhain dropped Adriel and charged at him. Sam pulled out the demon-killing knife and tried to stab his opponent but Samhain blocked the attack, causing the knife to only slash his forearm. Grunting in pain, Samhain knocked the knife from Sam's hand and began to pummel him with a series of blows before tossing him into a wall. With the demon distracted, Adriel saw an opportunity and crawled to the knife.

Samhain was about to charge at the Winchester when Sam held up his hand and concentrated. Samhain gasped and stopped dead in his tracks. No, Sam Winchester couldn't use his powers. He was warned not to, the orders coming directly from Heaven itself. Samhain staggered forward in obvious pain as his smoke-like was starting to leak out of his host's mouth and nostrils. The human began to strain himself as well with blood dripping down his nostrils as he held his head in obvious pain.

Adriel regained enough of her strength to get back to her feet and leaped onto Samhain, tackling him to the ground. She stabbed him repeatedly over and over again in the back as he screamed in pain. Then the demon went silent, dead. Adriel breathed a sigh of relief before slowly getting back to her feet. Sam moved to help her up, grabbing the angel by the arm but she shrugged him off.

"Don't touch me," Adriel whispered.

"I just saved you," Sam glared at her.

"He couldn't have killed me," Adriel stated.

"Didn't look like that from my perspective," replied Sam.

Balthazar teleported into the room and was disappointed to see Samhain already dead. "Couldn't you have waited a few more seconds? I wanted to get a little payback," he grumbled.

By the time Castiel and Uriel arrived at the mausoleum, Dean Winchester and Bela Talbot had already killed numerous zombies but now had difficulty as he was fighting both the undead and spirits. Had the two angels not arrived when they did, the humans surely would have perished. "Now this is more like it," Uriel laughed as he attacked the zombies, smiting and dismembering them with ease.

Castiel focused on the spirits and held up his hand, concentrating. He first focused on the tethered connection between the spirits and their bodies, memorizing their locations before he dispelled all the ghosts a blast of telekinesis. They would regain their strength quickly so Castiel broke into all the crypts and smited the bodies, permeantly dispelling the spirits from this world.

"Well it's about time you two bloody fairies showed up!" Bela shouted at the angels.

"Watch your tone whore," Uriel warned her. Dean looked half ready to hit the angel for that comment when Castiel sensed the remaining spirits dissipating. Samhain was gone.

Adriel, Balthazar, and Sam Winchester soon joined them. "It's done. Samhain is dead," Adriel reported.

"Well done," nodded Castiel.

Adriel then glared at Sam. "He used his powers to do it," she accused.

Sam sighed in frustration, "I was trying to help you."

"You were warned," Uriel said.

"And what was I supposed to do? That demon would have killed me and everyone else in this town if I hadn't stopped him!" snapped Sam.

"While I enjoy the whole team bonding experience as much anyone children, I have better things to do," Balthazar commented before teleporting away.

"Tread carefully Sam Winchester. The only reason you're still alive is because you're useful. The second you become more trouble then you're worth, I will turn you into ash," Uriel warned him before teleporting. Sam scoffed, not believing this was the kind of thanks he got for helping them out. Adriel teleported soon after and Castiel felt he needed to do the same. Things were tense between the angels and humans. Better to talk later when everyone had calmed down.

Adriel appeared in Sam Winchester's hotel room as the human was packing up his things to leave. "November 2 was the day right?" she asked, startling him.

"What the hell do you want now?" Sam sighed in annoyance.

"Azazel killed your mother that day and twenty two years later killed Jessica. And yet despite all he's done to you, you still use the power he gave you," Adriel stated.

"You couldn't stop Samhain so I did what I had to," Sam replied sternly.

"You were told not to use your powers," Adriel glared at him.

"So I just should have let everyone in this town die? If you had just stayed and worked with us, we could found that witch and stopped her before Samhain was summoned. My brother was right about you. You're dicks," Sam growled.

Adriel took a deep breath. "Don't you remember what happened to the rest of Azazel's children? One by one, they became as evil and profane as the demon blood they carried. They didn't start that way but they became monsters when they embraced their powers and true nature. The same thing will happen to you if you keep carelessly using your abilities so freely," she said.

"I'm not like them. What I can do, I only use it to save lives," protested Sam.

Adriel teleported right in from the human, making sure to look him straight in the eyes as she said, "And that's the trap. You're digging yourself into a deeper and deeper hole without a ladder. Eventually you're not going to be able to get out of it."

"I have it under control," Sam said and Adriel knew he believed that. That only made him all the more dangerous.

"I doubt your brother and Abigail would agree if they knew how you maintained it," Adriel said, referring to Sam's habit of drinking demon blood. The look in the human's eyes told her she was right. "But I didn't come here to fight you. I came to apologize."

That was the last thing Sam was expecting to hear. "We should have remained with you in your hunt. If we did, none of this might have happened. But humans aren't the only ones filled with pride," Adriel admitted. "Should we need to join forces again in the future, I will be sure to not let my own prejudice get in the way."

"Well…okay. Apology accepted," Sam said, not quite sure what to say.

"And tell your brother to get off his high horse especially after all the things he's done. Ask him why he was so quick to sell his soul to save Abigail," Adriel added before teleporting away.

Castiel waited to approach Dean the day after the death of Samhain. The human was still furious by what transpired earlier so the angel waited until Dean was seated by himself in a park. He teleported to the bench next to him and Dean instantly groaned, "Let me guess. You're here for the I told you so."

"No," replied Castiel.

"Well good cause I'm not really that interested in hearing that right now," grunted Dean.

"I'm not here to judge you Dean," Castiel stated.

"Then why are you here?" demanded Dean.

"Our orders…" Castiel tried to explain.

"Yeah I've about enough of these orders of yours," Dean interrupted him.

"Our orders…" Castiel continued as if the human never interrupted him. "…were not to stop the summoning of Samhain. They were to do whatever you told us to do."

Dean gave him a disbelieving look. "Your orders were to follow my orders?" he frowned.

"It was a test to see how you would perform under battlefield conditions you might say," explained Castiel.

The human threw a look. "It was a witch. Not that offensive," he commented.

Castiel couldn't help but chuckle. He admired how the human never seemed to lose his sense of humor.

"So I failed your test huh?" inquired Dean. "I get it. But you know what? If you would have waved that magic time travelling wand of yours and we had to do it all over again, I'd make the same call. I may not know what's going to happen when these seals of yours is broken, hell I don't know what's going to happen tomorrow. But what I do know is that this here…" Dean said before pointing to the children playing in the nearby playground. "…these kids. The swings, the trees, all of it is still here because of my brother, Bela, and me."

"You misunderstand me Dean," Castiel replied. "I'm not like you think. I was praying for you to choose to save the town."

"You were?" asked Dean.

"These people they are all my father's creations," said Castiel. "They are works of art. And yet, even though Samhain is dead, the seal was broken and we are one step closer for Hell on Earth for all creation. That's not an expression Dean, its literal. You of all people should appreciate what that means."

Those last words stung the human but they were meant to. Dean needed to understand the bigger picture, otherwise anyone they save during this war would be for nothing.

"Can I tell you something if you promise not to tell another soul?" Castiel asked. Dean nodded in response. "I'm not a…hammer as you say. I have questions and doubts just as you do. I don't even know what is right and wrong anymore or whether you passed or failed here. But I do know in the coming months you will have more decisions to make and I don't envy the weight on your shoulders Dean."

Dean didn't say a word. Perhaps he didn't need to say anything. Castiel pulled out a wallet from his coat pocket and tossed it to the human who caught it. "What's this?" Dean asked.

"Your wallet," answered Castiel. Dean threw him a confused look. "Balthazar stole it and spent all of your papal currency along with giving away your plastic currency to a homeless man," he explained.

"That son of a bitch," grumbled Dean. "This whole time I thought Bela stole it."

"I don't believe she'd ever do that again Dean. I do question her morality but I know for a fact that she cares what you think of her. You may not feel you deserve forgiveness for what the things you've done to her but perhaps she may give it to you anyways if she knew the truth. But I leave the decision to tell her in your hands," Castiel stated before teleporting away.

(I did change a few things up like making Adriel have the dialogue with Sam in the end instead of Uriel but I wanted that scene because it kinda reflects Castiel's scene with Dean at end when you realize there's more to these angels then just smite first, ask questions later. Balthazar was kinda of an asshole in this chapter but that's how he was on the show. But the most important thing I felt needed changing was to have the angels help at the end instead of just sitting around. Gonna skip forward a bit since I don't want to a chapter for every episode in the season and I only want to cover ones that I feel would change from having Bela involved.)
