Staring off into the universe absentmindedly, watching over a random planet with a focused eye. He sensed no imbalance within the planet, so he moved on to the next planet. Again, no imbalance. He looked towards the next planet, this repeated for a long awhile. It was almost mind numbing, going through the motions, yet necessary. His search bore no poisoned fruit, the universe was at balance. The balance in the universe was stable, especially so too, after the deep healing he gave the poor universe after Lord Beerus' and Goku's battle.

Beerus must still have been asleep, not feeling the pull all gods do to attend to their duties to keep balance in the universe. Lately, it was the duty Beerus was taking slightly more seriously after his battle with Son Goku. He doesn't destroy planets or galaxies on a whim as often he used to. It could be, also, that the God of Creation and the God of Destruction were presently on good terms.

Shin pulled his gaze away from singular planets and galaxies, focusing on the universe as a whole. Shin left out a sigh, the universe truly was in balance. There was a flicker. The god didn't notice the flickering, the flickering of his soul. He was too deep in thought.

"Hey, you! What is your problem?!"Old Kai yelled, snapping Supreme Kai out of his thoughts.

"Huh?"

"Why is your soul flickering?! You know your purpose! You are a Supreme Kai."

He looked down at his hands, they disappeared before fading back into existence. "W-what?" Sweat slid down his temple, fear weighing down in his gut like a rock. To doubt one's existence or purpose, will lead one to fade away in body and soul. Every god knew that…

Yet, he had doubts on his existence as Supreme Kai. While there is no denying that he would forever be thankful to the mortals who helped in stopping a great evil on numerous occasions- it made the God of Creation question his worth.

What purpose did he serve now? What kind of god was not able to protect those whom he watched over? What use is a god that can't depend on their own power and strength to bring balance? What use is a god if mortals surpassed him in power?

The list goes on. He knew he was still necessary for the balance, as Zeno-sama has not wiped out his existence nor Lord Beerus. Shin was aware of this, more so than ever after the Tournament of Power...

…but why did he feel as if his sense of purpose was lost..?

"M-master!"Kibito moved to hover over the small god, when the flickering increased in pace, uncertain of what he could do to help as the God's bodyguard and attendant. "Stop that! Move your thinking to something else!"Old Kai scolded, hitting Shin on his head. The flickering paused, Shin's body and soul solid again.

Supreme Kai yelped, nursing his head.

For being old, Elder Kai sure could swing his seemingly frail wrinkled fists. "You need rest, going so long without sleep is making you delusional."

"But, Elder Kai, I ha-"Shin began protesting, Old Kai cut him off swiftly.

"-Kibito, bring Shin off for some long needed rest, won't you? Drag him if you need too."

Kibito respectfully bowed in response to Old Kai, picking up a still protesting God easily with one arm, placing the small sleep deprived deity over his shoulder. Kibito took off into the sky of Kai Planet. Old Kai shook his head, watching the attendant fly away.

"You are ambitious, yes, but that ambition tends to get the better of you- till the point of overworking yourself and your body's limits,"Older Kai tutted, his face turned grim, "I hope sleep is what you need, lest your doubt of purpose persists…."
