Once the potion had worn off Regina stood up and stretched a bit. She looked over at Jefferson. He was still a little out of it had been about 12 hours, but he was not used to such magic. She smiled remembering how he had jumped to her window thinking he would clear it, but he was so off. She might owe him an explanation as to why she broke down. But she must think about that first. Could she trust him?
When Rumple usually takes magic from her, Regina sees nothing. But this time, maybe because he was hurt. He didn't have his mental walls up. Regina didn't know. She was so confused. She needed to talk to someone, but who? She sat down on the stone floor and pulled her knees into herself hugging them close.
Maybe if she could talk to Emma, Emma would know what to do, or who to ask. Emma was not in the Enchanted Forest and unlike Jefferson, never made any deals with Rumpelstiltskin.
"Gold!" Emma shouted as she stormed into his shop.
"Don't you have someone else to harass?" He asked walking out from the back.
"Where's Regina?"
"You were supposed to be watching her." He growled. "I see you can't even do that right, Sheriff."
"Where would she go?"
"She's not that different from her older self. Or do you not really know her at all?"
"I know your intentions for her are devious and dangerous. You got her shot! Or did you shoot her yourself?"
"Do you really think that I need to use a gun?" He sneered. "She's fine."
"Why did you do this to her, what are you using her for?" Emma asked exasperated.
He thought for a moment.
"I'll tell you where she is."
"You will?"
"In exchange for a favor."
Emma thought for a moment. She has been told over and over never to make any deals with this limping asshole, but she couldn't get the sight of a weeping Regina out of her head. She needed help.
"I'll find her myself." She said turning to leave.
"The offer comes with an explanation." He added.
"What kind of explanation?" She asked turning back around.
"The kind that answers all of the questions you've asked here today."
"No thanks, I'll get that from Regina when i find her."
"She won't go against me. She's far too clever." He laughed.
"We'll see." She turned again.
"The offer stands." He called after her.
Regina looked over to Jefferson. He was finally back to normal. She leaned over and smacked his cheek a little. He winced and looked up at her.
"It's time to go."
"Where are we going?"
"You are going home." She said as she poofed him back into town.
He looked around still a bit groggy. He looked over to his left. He wasn't far from granny's. He quickly crossed the street and ducked into the ally just in time to see an angry Emma stomp out. He shook the dizziness from his brain and made his way home. It would be best if he laid low for a while.
Regina paced back and forth in her vault. Rumple had been trying to call her, but the pain was just a dull throb. She suspected it was because she was in the vault. She was nervous though, if she stayed too long he might work out that she was there. He was the one that showed her the vault. He needed something out of here when she first came to this strange land.
She looked at the mirror on the wall. If she could just see where he was, what he was up to.
Soon the mirror swirled, and she could see him. He was pacing in his shop. First Regina fought the urge to hide, thinking maybe he could see her. But she gained a little courage and stepped closer to the apparently enchanted mirror. A young woman entered the shop. This must be Belle. Rumple told her to never be in the shop when Belle was around. He didn't want Belle to know what he was up to. She was carrying a large stack of books.
They kissed, and Regina thought she was going to puke. She wondered what kind of curse he has put on the woman, or maybe she was into lizards.
She closed her eyes and concentrated all her energy on Emma Swan. Soon the smoke swirled again and there was Emma.
She was outside. Pacing around a dock. Regina watched for a minute to make sure Emma was alone.
Then she went to her. She knew she could trust her.
Emma sensed something... warm and fuzzy would be the best way to describe it. She turned to it and soon Regina appeared.
"Regina" Emma exhaled loudly and pulled the girl into a hug before she knew what she was doing. "I was so worried about you."
She pulled back and looked the girl up and down, making sure she was okay.
The girl was wearing a white floral dress with pink flowers all over. Her hair was in a side pony tail.
"How's your?" Emma traced the spot where Regina had been shot gently wondering if the gold thread was still there.
"It's fine Emma." Regina pulled away and looked out at the sea. "I'm sorry I left."
"Why did you leave? Did Jefferson hurt you?" Emma walked over and looked at the girl. She looked a million miles away.
"No. He's harmless."
"No, he's not Regina. He drugged me, and my mother held us prisoner in his house."
Regina turned to Emma with a frown, but she said nothing.
"I don't think you should trust him."
"I don't" She finally said turning back to the sea. "He's just the only one i have when the sun goes down." She confessed.
"Regina" Emma sighed and took the girl's hand. "We're going to help you. You're not alone anymore."
Regina smiled at Emma and squeezed her hand.
Emma decided to get the girl to open up. "Snow told me that you were pregnant before."
Regina pulled her hand back from Emma and hugged her middle and Emma immediately regretted the causing the pain that covered the girls face.
"I'm sorry for what happened." Emma continued. "When I had Henry, they took him from me before i even saw him." Regina looked into Emma's eyes. "It was my choice. I wasn't going to keep him, and it was too painful to see him. I thought he deserved a better mother than i could be."
Emma looked out at the sea now. "And you two found each other. You did an excellent job raising him." Emma confessed for the first time.
"Emma." This time Regina took Emma's hand. "I need to ask for your help... I..." Regina struggled to find the right words. "But i don't know if you can. I just can't trust Rumple or Jefferson and i don't think anyone else would want to help me."
"What is it?"
Regina sighed.
Just then they heard someone shouting Regina's name. Snow ran over and stopped noticing Regina still held Emma's hand. Regina gave Snow a small smile and closed the gap between them dropping Emma's hand.
"We've been looking everywhere for you." Snow huffed. Regina reached over and pulled out Snow's shirt collar that was tucked into her vest.
"I'm sorry, Dear" She apologized. "I shouldn't have run away."
"Are you okay?"
"I'm fine. Still sore, but I'm okay." She smiled over to Emma "To be honest i could use a drink."
"You're not old enough" Emma scolded.
"I'm way older than you." The girl pointed out.
"Mom?" They all turned around to see Henry. He was staring at Regina.
Ruby ran over and caught up to the boy.
"So, you found her"
Emma walked over and took Henry's arm, but he pulled away and walked over to face Regina.
"Mom where have you been? Your hair is long, like in the story book." He said reaching up and touching her pony tail. "I like your dress." He smiled. "You look like your wedding picture."
"I'm much happier today." The girl smiled.
Henry smiled back.
Soon Regina winced, but only slightly as to not alarm Henry.
Rumple was calling her. But she did not want to go. Henry was beautiful, and he didn't seem to hate her as much as Rumple had let on.
"How was school?" The girl asked noticing the book school book Henry held.
"It was boring." He went on and on about what he had done at school that day. Regina listened intently. The head ache was not going to take her from this moment.
But then there was a pain in her wound. Henry was busy trying to pull a drawing out of his backpack. But Emma and the others noticed the wince and Regina's hand flew up to her side.
"Henry can you go with Ruby to the Diner and we'll be there here in a minute."
"Sure" he shrugged and let Ruby lead him away.
Regina looked at her hand, it was covered with blood.
"Regina what's happening?" Emma asked taking Regina's bloody hand by the wrist and bending slightly to inspect the wound.
"It's Rumple. I have to go to him." She looked to Emma. "Can you make up something to tell Henry?"
"Of course, but Regina let me go with you."
"No, he won't like that."
Regina was panicking. She didn't want to see him. What she saw while he was healing her infuriated her. Maybe Emma could come.
He pulled at her wound again.
"Will you come with me?" She asked Emma. She knew she wasn't making since, but the blood stain on her side was growing.
"Yeah, let's go. I have some choice words for that bastard."
Regina grabbed Emma's hand and they disappeared.
They were in the back of Gold's shop.
"Seems like you did find her" Gold sneered.
Regina looked curiously over at Emma.
"Regina i need you to pack some things" Rumple said grabbing a shabby scarf looking thing and draped it over his shoulders.
"She's not going anywhere with you." Emma snarled.
"Yes, she is, if she doesn't want that thread to shred a whole through her stomach."
Regina winced as he twisted his magical thread.
Emma went to Regina's side.
"Where?" Emma asked not knowing what to do.
"New York" He stated turning and gathering his things.
"What? Why?"
"I'm going to find my son. I could use the company"
"Why don't you take Belle?" Emma looked around for his "true love".
"That would be an unnecessary risk to someone I care about."
Emma rolled her eyes.
"Emma, I have to go" Regina whispered. But Emma could see the fear in the girl's eyes. Something happened.
"Then I'm going too." Emma stated
Rumple smiled his back still turned to them.
"But we're going to make a deal." Emma said taking Regina's hand.
"what are your conditions?" Rumple asked curiously.
"When we get back you heal her properly and take that thread out of her."
This was Rumple's plan anyway. He can't have Bae seeing this part of him. He would never stay.
"Agreed, now go make the proper arraignments. We leave first thing in the morning."
Regina wasted no time poofing them out of there and back to the mansion.
