Chapter 6-The Cave
After a long moment of time, Ash gave up. He jumped off the boulder that he climbed up to find any sort of life form passing by the cold lifeless mountain. He went into a dark narrow cave with a illuminating light at the end of it that barely lit up the cave.
He thought for a while, "How did I get into this mess? Oh yeah." He remembered that May and himself were separated from Brock and Max in the terrible snowstorm.
When Ash made it down the cave, he saw May shivering, clutching her knees against her chest. Ash felt guilty that he had no way to help or comfort her over the fact that she's separated from her brother, who could possibly be in an far worse situation than her. Then it hit him. He had just the perfect idea.
"May! Hug me!" He shouted.
"Wait, what?" May questioned him, feeling a bit warm of what he just said.
Still wondering what Ash was up to. May got up anyway and pulled Ash into a hug. She blushed a light pink, confused but happy to be in Ash's arms.
"Alright, now call out your Pokémon."
In unison, May and Ash threw the Pokéballs in the air and soon all their Pokémon appeared.
"Okay, huddle up together, everyone!" Ash said as all the Pokémon huddled up close together, making each other warm, with the smallest Pokémon in the middle and leading up to the largest in the outer layer. Ash and May were in the core of this group hug.
Very close together, Ash and May spoke quietly, trying not to disturb the Pokémon that were falling asleep around them.
"How are you holding up?" Ash asked feeling crowded.
"A little uncomfortable, but warm. Thanks for helping, Ash." May replied while squiggling around to get comfortable.
They talked for a long moment of time, May put her head on Ash's shoulder, actually beginning to get comfortable in her current position. Ash, being a little surprised, smiled a little, but deep down, he was shouting for happiness. Ash closed his eyes, slowly losing consciousness.
"Ash." May said as Ash snapped back into reality.
"Yeah."
"Do you think Max is okay?"
"Well yeah, he's with Brock and he's manage to do well all by his lonesome." Ash said, making May feel happy that Max should be fine.
"Another question. Will you come back to Hoenn with me?"
He thought for a minute, unsure of whether to say yes or no. He still was trying to fulfill his dream of becoming a Pokémon Master, but he didn't want to disappoint May. He had come all this way for what reason then?
From May's perspective, she was afraid that the long silence of nothing was a short meaning of saying no.
"Sure. I'll go." He said, creating a dumbfounded May.
"But... I thought you wanted to continue your journey?"
"Yeah, but that doesn't mean I don't have time for you guys." Ash said as he gave her a smile that felt like a warm embrace, and just for that, May wrapped her arms around Ash and so did he just to return the friendly hug. They stood in that same position and slept peacefully through the night.
