Chapter 8-Thanks.
Ash got on one knee and pulled an item from his jacket's pocket. He waited as his body took time to process for the right words to come out. Never did Ash think it would come to this. He opened the plastic container and pulled out a beautiful white rose and placed it at the feet of the tombstone.
He then kissed tombstone. On it labeled 'May Maple-Top Coordinator-Gone but not Forgotten.'
"Of all people, it had to be her." Ash said not caring one bit of catching q cold or something more worse. Of course he was angry, but felt mostly sad than anything. He never had gotten the chance to say goodbye or most importantly, I love you. It was really hard for those words to come out, but if he knew this would happen Ash would've told her the same day.
Ash couldn't imagine how May's parents felt. At the funeral, Caroline was too busy weeping to notice Ash, but Norman, Norman brung Ash into a hug because he knew the chemistry between the two. He knew the pain that Ash felt like no one else. He didn't like to see them together at first, but Norman swallowed what he saw. It took lot's of time though. After their small reunion. Ash saw Max, he saw the hurt in his eyes, through his glasses. When Max locked eyes with Ash, he could barely stand. Ash seeing Max about to fall, he caught him just in time for the water works to begin.
"It's not fair, It's just not fair, Ash!" Max yelled as he cried into Ash's shoulder. Ash patted Max's back and bowed his head to hide his face from being seen as he cried.
As the burial started, it seemed that everyone started to cry in unison. Caroline turned from the terrible sight and cried the most throughout the crowd. Norman failed badly at trying to comfort her. Ash and Max stared at this with pain.
As time passed, everyone left, but Ash remained and didn't take his eyes off the Tombstone. He stood up and walked over to it, he then placed a wooden Pikachu at the feet of the tombstone, right next to the white rose.
"I mean't to give you this. I didn't have time to finish it, but now it's done. And... Thanks. For everything." Ash said as he began walking away. For an unknown reason, a light shimmered that caught his eye. He turned around to see May, she was a spirit.
"Ash..." The spirit said.
Her voice sounded like an true angel. Ash was astonished. He was a bit happy to see her one more time before never seeing her again. She looked happy. Ash slowly made his way to her, one small tear fell down his cheek. May wiped the tear away. Ash felt so good to feel her warm touch. Her smile made him feel like everything was alright. She placed her hand on Ash's cheek and kissed him as a small glitter went down her cheek. Ash then too joined on the kiss. It was minutes that felt like mere seconds to Ash. Until she disappeared. Ash reached out his hand to see if he could still feel her appearance. She then appeared again, and stretched her hand out to put together with Ash's. Ash finally broke, and cried. He just let all of the tears flow out of him. He saw May in a confused state. She then finally wiped all the tears from his face and disappeared. Ash felt happy again.
"Until next time." He whispered before he turned around and left.
