Chapter 10-Give Me The Courage!

(May's POV)

My knees felt weak. I felt like I was gonna collapse. There had been times when I could find a way out of this, not this time. I must've blacked out for some time because even the audience had to shout to stop me from daydreaming.

"It seems that the contender has no way to counter her opponent's attack!" I heard the commentator scream into the microphone, being barely able to stay in his seat. I gripped my fists, I need to win this. I had to keep fighting.

Who was this guy anyway? I knew very little about him. I once heard some older teenagers talk about that he won a grand festival just a little before the start of the contest. His battle style was pretty exciting, I enjoyed his his appeal with his Kingler. Though I forgot his name.

"Blazi— I stopped myself. His Pokémon was... Struggling?

I see it now. His Kingler used too much of its power, it's growing tired! Time to strike!

(3rd Person)

"Blaziken use Fire Spin!" May said pointing to the opponent's Pokémon. With the last remaining strength that she had, Blaziken pried open Kingler's latched claw and made free of herself. Seconds later, Blaziken turned around and fired a spinning heap of fire at the Pokémon as Kingler blocked barely with it's claws.

"And Blaziken has just freed himself from the Kingler's wrath and just used Fire Spin, though making little effect!" The commentator said, jumping out of his seat.

"Kingler, counter by using Bubblebeam!" The blonde headed boy commanded his companion. With that, Kingler jumped out of the fire and release a wave of bubbles from one of his claws.

"Blaziken, dodge!" May said as she did what she was told.

"Use it again!" May's opponent yelled. On command, Kingler released another wave of bubbles.

"Dodge again!" May said, but with not enough time, the bubbles made impact on her before she could react.

"Out of one jam and into another!" The commentator screeched into the microphone surprisingly.

With Blaziken growing weaker and weaker, May was losing time. She couldn't get out of this one, It would let Blaziken's guard down and her opponent would get the upper hand. She ran, she took off of the battlefield feeling a load of sadness.

"What is this? May Maple has left the field! Is this even allowed?" The commentator questioned himself.

Outside, May put her face in the palm of her hands. She stood against herself. "Why? May said as close to silence. I can't even keep my Pokémon from getting hurt."

"You're just finding reasons to go against yourself." On sound, May popped her head up and observed her surroundings looking for the nearby person that commented on her guilt. She then felt a hand on her shoulder which made her jump back and turn her head.

"Ash! She exclaimed in happiness yet still surprised. What are you doing here? I thought you were in Sinnoh?" She said hugging him while talking.

"I moved on from that region and I'm going to a new region called Kalos. He said returning the hug also happy to see her. I'm watching you battle before I get ready to go to the Kalos region." He said releasing May from the hug.

"So that means you saw everything?" May said with her head bowed down, not wanting to meet eyes with him, but knew that he nodded his head in reply. She now felt more embarrassed than ever now that she knows that Ash witnessed everything.

"Look May. Ash said to May which made her connect eye contact with him. There had been times when I wanted to stop the battle right then and there because of the pain I've seen my Pokémon go through, but in their right minds. They want me to continue because they believe in me. They know I can soon become a Pokémon Master, and for that I can't give up on them."

May stood silent as the last six words that Ash said echoed in her head. He was right, she couldn't give up, not after all she and her friends had been through. Not after such obstacles they faced before. Not after everything. She stood up and put her hands around him, giving him a hug for giving her the confidence and power to continue to finish the batt—"The Battle!"

May released Ash and ran back into the stadium and as running back into the field she could hear the crowd roaring on her return back to the battlefield. Before she could resume, she petted Blaziken to let her know that everything was fine.

"May Maple has returned! The battle may continue!" The commentator yelled in victory, happy to see the battle commence once again.

With that, May was ready, she knew Ash was watching so she had to be in top shape.

Her opponent knew what already to do. "Bubblebeam!" Her opponent yelled making the Kingler release a series of watery bubbles.

"Use Fire Spin!" May commanded, making her opponent smile. Why would she use that attack against a water type move?

The fire then made contact with the water, as they collided, Blaziken's move grew weaker as the bubbles began to overpower the bubbles. Within seconds, the bubbles totally engulfed the fire and Blaziken with it, it created a huge dark cloud of smoke. Her opponent created a smirk on his face, he knew he had the upper hand.

"Blaziken, use Blaze kick!" May said in surprise to everyone. Blaziken then flew out of the dark cloud and kicked Kingler dead center, sending it flying back.

"Now use Sky Uppercut and send it into the sky!" May said to her friend, she was planning something. Kingler didn't even have enough time to recover nor could her opponent react in time for her next attack. Blaziken ran with her right fist shining and sent a huge uppercut into Kingler, sending it into the sky.

"Finally use OverHeat!"

"It looks like May is trying to end it right here!" The commentator said surprised at this change of events.

"Kingler use Protect" The boy told his Pokémon. Kingler finally had time to react and create a round orb around itself in time just when OverHeat connected, having little to no effect. May balled her hands into a fist, so close too. She knew OverHeat wouldn't be as strong the next time she uses it.

"Now use Hydro Pump!" The boy said, Kingler soon let out a burst of water moving faster than ever.

"Dodge" May said, but she wasn't fast enough. In mere seconds, Blaziken was tackled by gallons of water.

"Get up, Blaziken! May pleaded her friend. Blaziken tried it's best to get up, but it was no use, Kingler's recent attack really did a number on Blaziken.

"One more try, Blaziken!" May said, as Blaziken stood up, it's body then lit up, surrounding itself in fire.

"It seems to be Blaze, which is Blaziken's ability!" The commentator informed himself, he had heard of it before, but never has he witnessed it himself.

"That won't stop us, Use Surf, Kingler!" The boy said, as Kingler followed his command and released a wave of water incoming into Blaziken. The huge lake of water towered over her moving at a fast paste.

"Blaz—Before May could finish her sentence, the waves caught Blaziken as she disappeared into the lake of water.

"Blaziken!" May yelled, hoping for a response.

She called again, no response.

She called once more, still no response. May fell to her knees, seeing little to no motion going on in the water. Then it struck her. "She's awaiting for my call."

"One more time, Use Sky Uppercut!" May said pointing at Kingler. The boy questioned her. What was she up to? Seconds later, Blaziken jumped out of the water. Nearing Kingler within every step.

"Use Hydro Pump!" The boy said to Kingler as his last resort. Blaziken sped up trying it fastest to connect the punch before Kingler can get off the Hydro Pump. Two feet away, Kingler released the Hydro stem of water as soon as Blaziken uppercutted Kingler. Blaziken sent flying backwards and landed on the ground face down. Kingler went high into the ground and crashed into the ground.

"Both Pokémon are down, how will this end!" The commentator said into the microphone.

Both contenders pleaded for their Pokémon to get up. Kingler was first to respond, Kingler used its claws to push against itself. It was no use. Kingler fell back down, dazed. Blaziken secondly tried to get up. She used all of her force and power and finally stood up on her two feet.

"Kingler is down, so that means the victory goes to May Maple from Petalburg City." The referee said raising the red flag in May's victory.

May jumped for joy as she ran onto what were the remains of the battlefield. It was over, she had finally won her last ribbon to move onto the Grand Festival in Johto. She looked up at Ash in the bleachers, she spotted him over all the screaming and roaring of the fans through all the confetti. He gave her the courage to win and for that, she is thankful.

I'm sorry if there are errors or if I used Repetition in a bad way. I'll try to get another story out soon.

Until Next Time,
