So its been years since I've uploaded anything. And well. I can't guarantee that I will update regularly, but I got a lot of inspiration randomly for this story so here it is. I've got an exam I'm supposed to be studying for but this happened instead. Let me know what you think.

I feel myself missing
Everything I threw away
Every dream, every scene
Every song we'd ever sing
Got lost in yesterday

I've been trying to do without you
But I can't give up this fight
Everything will be alright
If I can kiss you tonight
We can make it to tomorrow
If we can find the morning light
Everything will be alright
If I can kiss you tonight

-Kiss You Tonight by David Nail

Derek and I pulled up to the little mom and pop diner. It was a small slightly run down looking restaurant, but they had the best food around. Derek, Laura and I had frequented this place a lot when we were younger. It was also the first job I had when I was sixteen since I couldn't work at the bar until I was younger.

"Lou and Betty are gonna be so surprised to see you." I told him. He smiled slightly. However, I could see sadness underlying his features.

"Do you remember the last time we were here?" He asked rolling his head to look at me. I smiled sadly.

"How could I forget. It was the day you and Laura decided to tell me you were leaving. Then you took off right after."

Three years ago

I pulled up to Lou and Betty's keeping an eye out to see if Derek and Laura were here yet. We were meeting up for our normal Sunday brunch, that we had started doing weekly once they had moved out of my house after Laura turned 18 two years ago. I spotted their car and figured they were inside at our table already. Locking my car and heading inside I smiled at Lou and Betty, my old employers, and headed towards the booth Derek and Laura were in. Oddly, they were on the same side of the booth. Normally Derek sat next to me so he could steal food from my plate when I ordered more than I could eat, which was generally all the time. My eyes were too big for my stomach. I shook off the feeling and threw myself into the booth with a bright smile.

"Hello dear friends. I have missed you dearly. Where is my coffee?" I asked exaggeratedly. The too chuckled at me, but something sounded off. Derek pushed the cup full of warm heaven towards me. I looked at it as I grabbed it realizing there was even cream and sugar in it.

"You are a god send Hale. Have I ever told you you'd make a wonderful house husband some day?" I asked with a smirk before taking a drink and letting the warmth flow through me. Derek shook his head.

"Yes, normally it's "house bitch" though." I chuckled.

"Ah. Yes. I'm feeling generous this morning." Laura let out a snort. "Did you guys order already?" Derek and Laura nodded.

"We got you the special." Laura told me. I nodded my thanks.

"Good woman. So, what is it that ya'll wanted to talk to me about?" When I had been on my way back from a hunt yesterday, I had called Laura to let her know I'd be here on time and she had said that was good because they needed to talk to me in person. Laura and Derek exchanged nervous glances.

"You tell her." Derek told Laura. I quirked an eyebrow. Laura took in a deep breath and sighed.

"Okay. We would've told you sooner, but we weren't sure how to." I nodded expectantly taking a sip of my coffee. "We're leaving Beacon Hills. For good. Today." I spit my coffee out on Derek. He made a disgusted face and grabbed a napkin wiping his face, but I couldn't be bother to care.

"Excuse me?"

"We can't stay here anymore Cora. It's too hard." Laura told me reaching out to grab my hand. I went to reply, but Betty chose that moment to show up with our food. She smiled widely at us.

"How are my favorite customers this morning?" She asked. Laura and Derek smiled politely while I just glared at them.

"We're good Betty." Derek told her. The older woman looked between the three of us skeptically. She could tell something was wrong. She placed a comforting hand on my shoulder.

"Alright good. I'll let you kids enjoy your breakfast." She turned and left. I pushed my food off to my right. I wasn't hungry any more, and leaned forward arms on the table glaring at the two siblings in front of me.

"How long have you guys been planning this?" Derek and Laura glanced at each other. "Don't you dare fucking lie to me." Derek looked at me ashamed.

"A few months." My mouth dropped.

"A FEW MONTHS? A few fucking months." I let out a dry chuckle. "Why the fuck did you wait til the day you were leaving to tell me you assholes?"

"We didn't know how to tell you. We didn't want to upset you with everything that had just happened with your dad." Laura said softly. I gaped at them.

"My dad died six months ago you twats. You've been planning this for six months?"

"We've been planning it for seven, but then your dad had his heart attack and we decided to postpone until we knew you were okay." Derek told me honestly. "Look we're sorry C. There was just so much going on and then you kind of took off for a while."

"Yeah. I did. Because my dad died. Maybe taking off with Sam and Dean wasn't the best idea, but I've been back for three months." I stated annoyed.

"We're sorry." They stated together. I sighed. Taking a gulp of my coffee I looked at the two. I could understand where they were coming from. It was hard enough for me being here see all the things that reminded me of the Hale family. I wasn't even family too them. Just an outsider they had welcomed like family.

"Where are you going?" I asked. They shrugged.

"We're just going to travel. See where the road takes us." Derek said. I chuckled.

"Okay wanderer wolves. Can I eat now or do you have any other bombs to drop on me?" They chuckled and the tension disappeared at the table. I grabbed my food and started digging in. The rest of the breakfast was filled with us coming up with different ideas of where they should go before they found somewhere to settle down. After we were done we threw money down and headed out to the parking lot. My stomach dropped thinking about the fact that I didn't know when I would see two of the most important people in my life again. As we got to their car my eyes started to well up. Laura quickly grabbed my hand and pulled me into a hug.

"You'll always be pack. We'll see each other again. I promise." She whispered. A small tear escaped my eye and as we pulled apart I saw that she had some escaping as well. She pulled a necklace out of her pocket. I smiled when I saw that it was a triskele.

"Mom was going to give this to you when you turned 18 if you wanted it. It's infused with our scents. All the humans in the pack were given one. It lets other wolves know that you belong to a pack." Her eyes flashed red, showing who was the alpha now that her mother was gone. "If you want it, it's yours. Something to signify you once and for all as pack." I smiled and took it. Putting it around my neck.

"I'll never take it off. Thank you." I told her. Baring my neck in a sign of submission. She smiled and tilted my head up giving me one last hard hug. As we parted she stepped back allowing me to turn towards Derek. My heart clenched in my chest as I looked at my best friend. The boy I had been in love with my entire life. I loved Dean, yes, but I always knew it was different that how I felt towards Derek. Derek felt like home, and now he was leaving and it scared me shitless. He held his arms open and I rushed into them the flood gates opening.

"You h-have to promise you're going to call me at-at least once a week, shit bag." I told him sobbing. I heard him sniffle. His arms enclosing me tightly.

"I promise dick breath." I let a half sob half laugh. I buried my face in his chest breathing in his scent trying to memorize it. I pulled away after a few moments and looked up at him. His eyes studied my face trying to memorize it. I thought about kissing him. My eyes drifted to his lips and I saw his doing the same. We both hesitated knowing it may change things. Especially with him leaving. Fuck it. Who knew if I'd ever get the chance again.

I leaned up pressing my lips hard against his. His hands moved from my waist to my face gripping me gently, but kissing me hard. Like it was the last thing he was ever going to do. I pulled away and pecked him once more. I threw my arms around his neck.

"I love you." I told him. His arms tightened against me and I felt a tear hit my shoulder. We hugged for a few more moments before we untangled and separated. I wiped my eyes and I could see his were red. Laura still had tears running down her face.

"You two better be fucking careful." I told them. They nodded. "Now get. Or I'm not letting you leave." They chuckled and climbed in the car. Laura waved and Derek and I locked eyes until they pulled away. I stood and watched their car leave until I couldn't see it anymore.

Present

"Sorry." He stated. I rolled my eyes.

"You know you stopped calling after a year and a half." I told him. "Laura never did. I thought it was odd that I hadn't heard from her in a few weeks. Then you showed up." He looked down.

"I was worried you weren't moving on with your life." I quirked an eyebrow. "When you sent me the picture of your tattoo. I just. It just freaked me out. Laura made you pack, but we couldn't be with you and that was hard enough. But to see you brand yourself as so clearly ours it just became even more real to me. It was so hard talking to you, but not being able to see you. When Laura told, me she found leads on the fire and that she was coming back I told her to leave you out of it. I didn't want you to get hurt." I sighed.

"You're a dumb ass." He chuckled.

"I know, but I'm trying to make it right." I smiled and grabbed his hand.

"I know. Let's go eat I'm fucking starving." He let out a laugh and we headed inside. We grabbed our booth and sat down. A newer waitress by the name of Shelley came over and started pouring me coffee.

"Hey Cora!" she said.

"Hey Shelley. How you doing hun?" She smiled

"Oh, same old same old. What can I get you to drink?" She asked turning to Derek. He just flipped his coffee cup over and pushed it towards her. She quirked an eyebrow at him, but poured him the coffee none the less. I grabbed six sugars and two creams and started putting them in my coffee.

"Don't mind him sweetness. He's mute."

"Shut up Cora. I'll take the meat lovers omelet and she'll have the Sunday special." He told Shelley. The waitress chuckled and nodded walking away to put our order in. I beamed and Derek and he rolled his eyes.

"How do you not have diabetes yet?" he asked eyeing the mountain of sugar packets. I shrugged my shoulder.

"I exercise a lot. Any idea who the alpha is?" He shook his head. "Have you seen Peter yet?" Again, he shook his head. He pulled the coffee too his lips. "Any girlfriends I have to worry about showing up and getting jealous of me? You know cause I'm so insanely attractive and your best friend and what not." He snorted setting his coffee back down.

"Good to see you've gotten humbler in my time away. And no." I smirked.

"Good to know." He quirked an eyebrow. He opened his mouth to say something, but was interrupted.

"Derek Hale! My, my, my. Look at you! Get up here and give me a hug boy." I smiled and looked towards Betty and Lou. Derek let a smile grace his face as well as he stood and pulled the elderly woman into a hug. She smacked him on the back of the head and I started laughing.

"That's for all the worry you caused my poor old heart. Leaving like that. Not even saying goodbye." Lou chuckled at his wife and held his hand out towards Derek. Derek grabbed it and gave the man a hand shake.

"Sorry Betty." He said quietly.

"It's good to see you son."

"You too Lou." At that moment, Shelley came back with our food.

"We'll let you two kids eat. You better not leave town again without saying goodbye." Betty told Derek with a glare.

"I won't. I promise." The couple smiled and turned away heading back towards the kitchen. I started laughing at Derek again as he sat back down. He glared playfully at me.

"She got you good D." He reached over and stole a piece of bacon off my plate. "Hey, eat your own food shit bag!"

"But yours tastes so much better dick breath." I glared.

Monday came around and I headed towards the school in the afternoon. I hadn't seen Scott or Stiles since the party on Friday. I walked into the locker room and met Finstock at his office.

"Ready for today?" I asked. He looked up.

"Are you? Go round them up?" I nodded. I walked into the main part and blew my whistle. I saw Scott and Stiles. Stiles was shoving the Lacrosse into Scott's arms while he had a panicked look on his face. I quirked a brow. Scott started throwing his gear on and as they walked passed me I grabbed Stiles arm.

"What's his problem?" I asked. Stiles looked towards Scott and leaned in close to me.

"Hunter's attacked him and Derek on the night of the full moon." I quirked a brow. Derek had failed to mention that.

"Okay and? Why's he freaking out?" Stiles started bouncing in place.

"You know Allison?" I nodded. "Well apparently, when Scott got shot with an arrow he got a look at the hunter that shot him. It was Allison's… father!" I paled.

"Did he recognize him? What's Allison's last name?" I asked quickly.

"No I don't think so. Argent. Why?" Fuck. Fuck.

"Shit. I'll explain after practice." Stiles nodded and headed out to the field me close behind.

I zoned out for most of the practice. Eventually we had Danny in goal Jackson on defense and everyone else lined up running drills. I watched as Scott was up. He seemed a little out of it. Finstock having to get his attention. He took off finally towards the goal and I winced as Jackson shoved him to the ground. Finstock blew his whistle and stormed over.

"McCall. Hey McCall! My grandmother can move faster than that. And she's dead! Do you think you can move faster than the lifeless corpse of my dead grandmother?"

"Yes coach."

"I can't hear you."

"Yes coach!"

"Well then do it again!" Scott got back up and I squinted. Coach started yelling something and I tuned him out as Scott lined back up. Jackson squared up in front of Danny. I blew the whistle and Scott took off. He rushed Jackson, didn't even try to dodge him. I winced and he slammed hard into Jackson knocking him down to the ground. Scott grabbed his head and dropped to the ground. As Finstock and everyone rushed to Jackson Stiles and I rushed to Scott.

"Scott?" Stiles and I asked at the same time squatting down next to him.

"I can't control it. It's happening?" Scott ground out.

"What? Right here? Now?" Stiles asked as I started to lift Scott under his arm.

"Alright. Come on get up. We gotta get you away from these people." I told him. Stiles grabbed his other arm and we started rushing him to the locker room. As we ran I saw Derek watching us from the tree line.

We made it to the locker room in record time. We got Scott down and Stiles squatted down while I tried to pull him back.

"Scott?" he asked. Scott looked up his eyes yellow. I reacted quickly and pulled Stiles back he fell onto his ass and started backing away.

"Get away from me!" Scott yelled. I pulled Stiles up and pushed him in front of me trying to get him to run. We took off between some lockers. Scott jumping on top of them and then climbing into the rafters. I started looking around trying to find something to use to defend us.

"Cora what the hell do we do?" Stiles panicked.

"Shut up I'm thinking." Scott jumped down in front of us and I pushed Stiles to keep running. Scott lunged at me and I dodged. He swiped at me with a claw. I grabbed a locker door using it to create a barrier. I backed up towards Stiles who at that point ran into a fire extinguisher. Scott came towards us. I saw my opening while he was distracted by Stiles and ran forward kicking him in the chest sending him back. Stiles fumbled with the fire extinguisher for a moment then just as Scott was getting up sprayed him with it before we both ran out into the hallway breathing heavily. We looked at each other waiting patiently.

"Stiles? Cora?" We heard Scott as breathlessly. We peaked in the door way. Scott was back to normal. I let out a sigh of relief as Stiles threw the fire extinguisher down.

"What happened?" my nephew asked looking at us confused.

"You tried to kill us." I told him shrugging.

"It's like I told you before. It's the anger. Anything that gets your pulse rising." Stiles started.

"It's a trigger." I finished. Scott looked between the two of us, me leaning against the lockers and Stiles squatting in front of him.

"But that's Lacrosse. It's a pretty violent game if you didn't notice."

"Well it's gonna be a lot more violent if you end up killing someone on the field."

"You can't play Saturday Scott." I spoke up. "We're gonna have to find a way to get you out of the game."

"I'm first line."

"Not anymore." Stiles said softly. I clapped my hands together once loudly.

"Well we need to talk. Meet me at my car Scott." I told him. I'd give them a little bit of privacy for a minute.

Derek was leaning against my car when I got there. He stood straight when I reached him reaching a hand out grabbing my arm and looking me over.

"You okay?" He asked worriedly. I let out a heavy sighed and threw myself into his chest. He wrapped his arms around me and held me close. I felt him take a deep breath inhaling my scent, looking for blood most likely.

"Physically? Yeah. Emotionally? Not so much. Scott's a good, normal kid. I hate seeing him go through this." I told him pulling back slightly. "I'm worried. I don't want to see him get hurt. Him and Mellissa are the only blood family I have left."

Derek brushed some hair away from my face. His hand lingered at my cheek and my heart started beating rapidly. He smiled slightly picking up on it.

"I know. I'm gonna do everything I can to help him Cora. I promise." My heart clenched hearing the truth behind his words. I watched his eyes drift to my lips and mine did the same. He started leaning in. Our lips were centimeters apart before I felt the wind shift and Derek tensed.

"Scott and Stiles are coming." He said before letting me go. He turned and ran off. I sighed. Scott and Stiles walked up.

"I'm gonna ride with Stiles over to your place so he can take me home after. I'm sure you have to work tonight." I nodded and climbed into my 2016 Chevy Silverado and headed towards the apartment.

We entered my building and I headed right towards the freezer pulling out my trusty bottle of Jameson. I poured myself a glass and turned to the two boys.

"What did you want to talk about?" Scott asked.

"I know what you're going through Scottie my boy." I told him before taking a drink.

"How?" He asked.

"I'm a hunter." I stated causally. "A supernatural hunter."

"What do you mean you're a hunter?!" Scott exclaimed backing away slightly. His eyes were full of worry and Stiles and I looked to each other dumbfounded by the scared look on my nephews face.

"Christ calm down Scotty. I'm not going to hurt you. I'm different than the Argents." I stated picking a piece of fuzz off my pants. "I have a moral code that I actually follow." I mumbled.

"Well please explain to me how I never knew that my family had werewolf hunters in it!" He stated angrily. I sighed.

"Because it was my mom's family Scott. My Uncle Bobby and I are the only ones. And we aren't werewolf hunters specifically. We hunt all sorts of supernatural things, but only if they're killing people. I personally try to stay away from as many werewolf cases as possible due to my friendship with the Hales." I stated. Scott had started to calm down slightly and took a seat across from me at the kitchen table. Stiles wandered over to the fridge and started digging around. I finished off the whiskey in my glass.

"What do you mean other supernatural things?"

"Well like ghosts, demons, skin walkers, witches… Honestly just about anything you can think of we've hunted. Sam and Dean are actually neck deep in demon and angel mumbo jumbo right now..." I stated pouring another shot of whiskey into my glass.

"Angels and demons? They're real?" Scott and Stiles asked at the same time. I nodded.

"Yeah, it's a long and complicated story and we could sit here for years and not be able to cover everything, I just wanted you to know because right now we have our own issues and I need you to trust me. Okay? I hate keeping secrets from you Scotty. We need to stick together now more than ever. Okay?" I asked.

"What about Derek? I don't trust him." Scott mumbled. I rolled my eyes.

"Well I do. You don't have to and I'm not going to force you to, but Derek is on our side in this. Alright?" Scott and Stiles nodded.

"Good. Now you to have to go I have to work and have someone coming over beforehand." I smirked. They both grumbled and set off towards the front door as Derek walked in. Scott scowled at him and Derek smirked slightly. I rolled my eyes at the pair of them and took a drink out of my glass before grabbing my pack of cigarettes from the table. Derek made a face at me as I lit it taking a long drag.

"It didn't go that bad." he stated with a pointed look at my whiskey and cigarette.

"It's not that. It's just everything. I'm stressed out of my mind right now." I mumbled before taking another drag.

"You know there are healthier ways to get rid of stress." He stated. I finished off my drink and went to place it in the sink.

"And what would that be?" I asked. Flicking my cigarette into the sink as well. As soon as the words left my mouth I was spun around, my back pressed to the counter and my lips pressed against Derek's. At first I was surprised, but the feel of his lips was intoxicating. I had dreamed about this moment for a long time. Ever since I was a teenager and especially since the kiss we had shared before he left.

My arms wound up around his shoulders after I dropped my cigarette into the sink and my fingers slid into his hair pulling him in closer if that was even possible. He bit down gently on my bottom lip and pulled away from the kiss. My heart was hammering in my chest and I had a giant smile on my face. Derek smirked and placed a peck against my lips before disentangling himself from me. He brought a hand up to brush some hair out of my face and then brushed his thumb across my cheek.

"I've wanted to do that since I got back." He told me softly. I smiled and grabbed the hand that was brushing along my cheek and pulled in to my lips kissing it gently.

"I've been waiting for you to do that." I told him honestly. He smiled and leaned in placing his lips against mine once more. This time however he grabbed the back of my head pulling me closer. His other arm wrapped around my waist and pulled me flush against him. I moaned as his tongue slid across my bottom lip granting him access. He lifted me up onto the counter, my legs wrapped around his waist and my hands delved back into his hair. His hands went under my shirt and I groaned at the feelings of his hands on my skin. Just as he went to pull my shirt off, my phone alarm went off signaling it was five minutes to six and I needed to get down to the bar to relieve Anna. Derek pulled away and I groaned at the loss of contact. He chuckled and backed away.

"Guess we're just gonna have to continue this some other time."

I was at the bar refilling a couple patrons drinks when I felt my phone going off around 7. I pulled it out and saw that it was my sister Mellissa. I set the drinks down and looked around to see how everyone was doing. The waitresses were rolling silver ware. Everyone looked to be taken care of. I flagged Jessica my other bar tender down.

"I'm gonna go out and smoke. You good?" She nodded. I grabbed my cigarettes from behind the bar and headed out. I lit one grabbed my phone and called Mellissa back.

"I think Scott's on drugs." Was the first thing out of her mouth when she answered.

"Scott's definitely not on drugs. I'd let you know if he was though." I chuckled. She sighed relieved.

"Okay thank you. I just I don't know. I feel like such a horrible mother. I'm never home. We don't talk like we used to..."

"Melissa. Sis. You need to relax. You are a wonderful mother. You don't talk like you used to because Scott is a 16-year-old. That's just how they are. You remember me when I was 16?" Mellissa laughed.

"Yes. God, you were a nightmare." I let out a laugh and took a puff of my cigarette.

"Exactly. Scott's a good kid. I keep an eye on him. I promise I will let you know if something happens that you should be worried about."

"Okay thanks Cora. I gotta go. I just pulled up to the hospital. Love you."

"Love you too sis. Are you going to the game Saturday?"

"I'm trying to get the night off." I smiled.

"Okay sweet. Let me know!"

"Mkay. Bye."

"Buh bye."

Just as I hung up I got a text from Scott.

You trust Derek?! He's a nut Cora! He just threatened to kill me if I played Saturday!

I rolled my eyes.

Maybe it'd be a good idea not to play then?

Scrolling through my contacts I found Derek's name.

Dumb ass. I sent. The only response I received was a smirking emoji. Scott's response chimed through.

Wow. Thanks for the concern. Some Aunt you are. I chuckled then headed back inside.

The week passed by quickly I didn't see Derek after Monday the kiss always at the back of my mind. Along with figuring out how to convince my nephew not to play. He avoided me at practice all week. Finally, on Friday I got a call in the morning from Finstock telling me I needed to tell Scott to play. Apparently, the kid finally manned up and talked to Coach. I told him I'd figure it out and to not worry. Friday night I took Mellissa some food up for dinner.

"Thank you so much Cora. I woke up late and completely forgot to pack something." I smiled giving my sister a hug.

"It's no problem. I had the night off anyway. Even if I didn't, that's the good thing about being your own boss." I winked. She chuckled and I turned to leave so she could eat. As I was heading towards the exit I ran into Stiles who was sitting in chair reading a magazine. I slapped it out of his hands causing him to shout.

"Cora! Wh-What are you doing here?" he exclaimed nervously.

"Mm. Dropping Melissa off dinner. What are you doing here?"

"Uh. Uh. Oh, you know. Just… Stalking Lydia." I quirked an eye brow. "Yeah she's right around the corner look for yourself." I peeked around the corner and saw Lydia stand to meet Jackson. I shook my head.

"You're so fucking weird." I told Stiles, before turning on my heels and leaving.

When I got home, Derek was wait on the steps for me.

"What's up?" I asked.

"I'm going to look for the alpha. You want in?" I smirked.

"Hell yeah. Let me grab my gear." I unlocked the door letting Derek follow in behind me. I headed into my room. I pulled my shirt off reaching for a looser, more comfortable black long sleeve and a flannel. I pulled out my hiking boots and grabbed my hunting jacket. I left the bedroom and Derek followed me into the Library/ office. There were book shelves lining all four walls filled completely with books. All on different supernatural lore. I moved towards the rug in the center of the room and lifted it. Exposing a door. Opening the door, I reached in and began pulling out a few pistols, some wolfs bane and regular ammo, and a few knives. Derek's eyes flashed blue as I began loading wolfs bane bullets into one of the magazines.

Once I was done we took off. We spent the whole night trekking through the woods, and found no sign of the Alpha.

The next day I woke up around three to my phone ringing incessantly. I groaned and answered it without looking.

"CoraIcan'tfindScott." Stiles rushed out. I sighed pinched the bridge of my nose and sat up.

"Tell me what happened."

"Last night we dug up the other half of that dead girl on Derek's property. There was wolfs bane surrounding her in a spiral. She was a wolf when we found her, then after I unburied the wolfs bane she was a person. Anyway, we called my dad. He just arrested Derek, then when we left I had the bag with the wolfs bane in the car and then Scott freaked out, wolfed out and then took off." The boy rushed out. It took me a minute to process what he was saying.

"You did what?! Are you two fucking stupid! Derek didn't kill her!" I yelled jumping out of bed and rushing around to find clothes.

"Um she was buried next to his creepy old burnt down house? Good evidence he did. But that's not the point. What do we do about Scott?" I sighed.

"Fuck. Okay. You call dispatch. See if anyone's reported anything. I'll go check the house and start looking other places. Just get to the game on time." Stiles said his agreement then hung up.

After dressing I set out in search of my nephew. After two hours, my phone went off. I didn't recognize the number.

"You have a collect call from Beacon Hills Sherriff's Department. Press one accept charges." I pulled the phone back and pushed one.

"Hello?" I asked.

"Cora, you wanna come pick me up?" Derek's voice drifted through the phone. I sighed in relief.

"Yeah I can. Do I need bail money?"

"No. They ruled the cause of death an animal, they found wolf hairs on the body. And they identified her as Laura." I nodded.

"Okay. I'll be there soon. We should get to the school. I'm worried Scott's playing." I hung up and headed towards the station. When I pulled up 20 minutes late Derek was waiting out front. He rushed to the truck and we headed towards the school.

When we finally made it to the school Derek took off towards the woods while I ran out towards the game. I made it just as the 4th quarter started. I rushed over to Stiles at the bench. I saw Scott out on the field. He was hunched over and breathing heavily.

"What's happening?" I asked the spastic 16-year-old.

"They won't pass to him. He's getting mad." Stiles squeaked. I sighed. We watched a few more plays. We were down two points. At the last two minutes left I turned hearing squealing and saw Lydia and Allison holding up a sign cheering for Jackson. I spotted Chris Argent and turned quickly hoping to avoid a run in with him.

Scott apparently noticed Allison holding up the Jackson sign because the next thing I know he is hauling ass across the field making an amazing play and scoring a goal. The crowd erupted in cheers, Stiles and I jumping up excitedly.

"Pass to McCall. Pass to McCall." Finstock and I yelled at the same time. He turned to me quizzically.

"When the hell did you get here Cavanaugh?" He asked.

"Been here the whole time." I lied. He thought about it for a moment nodded and turned back to the game.

The next play started and the other team ended up with the ball. Scott paused in front of the player and we watched in awe as he passed Scott the ball. Finstock sat next to me keeping his eyes on the game.

"Did the other team just deliberately pass us the ball?"

"Yes coach." Stiles said chewing on his glove in anticipation. We all jumped up excitedly when Scott scored another goal by launching the ball through the goalie's stick and into the net tying up the game with 39 seconds on the clock.

As the next play started one of our boys passed to Scott. He took off down the field, I could tell he was losing focus by the way he was whipping around, suddenly two of the defensive players rushed him. He shot. He scored. And the crowd went wild. Stiles and I chest bumped excitedly before turning to find Scott. We lost him in the crowd.

Stiles turned to see his father on the phone.

"Dad what's wrong?"

I turned and met Chris Argent's eyes. We held a stare off for a few minutes before he turned and walked away.

I turned as Stiles grabbed my arm.

"Did you know Derek was out?" He asked.

"Yeah I picked him up." Stiles gaped at me.

"Why didn't you tell us? Or about the fact that it was his sister?" I shrugged.

"I told you he didn't do it. You didn't want to believe me about that. Plus, I knew you'd find out anyway." I turned and left heading to my truck.

I sat in my truck for about 20 minutes before Derek showed up.

"They know you're out." I told him starting the truck up and heading towards my apartment.
