It had been several days since the last demon attack and the rangers were all still adjusting to having Kodachi as an ally. Even though she now knew about Ranma's curse, I didn't slow her down from trying to win her darling's heart. It was lunch time and Akane, Ramma, Shampoo, and Kodachi were eating their lunches inside the classroom.
Akane glared as the gymnast was trying to share her lunch with Ranma while Shampoo was trying to do the same. She sighed and decided to help him out just a little and grabbed Shampoo away from him.
"You know Shampoo, I've been meaning ask how you and Mousse were even able to transfer into our grade level without taking any kind of test or filling out any paper work," said Akane.
"Amazon's very smart. Crazy principal couldn't help but put us in same grade level," said Shampoo as images of the principal tied up while her great grandmother "Persuaded" him with her walking stick went through her head.
"Why do I have a feeling that wasn't really the case," said Ranma.
Once class started again, the child Hinako happily said, "Before we start, I would like the class to welcome back Miss Megumi Takayama.
Hiroshi was quick to say, "Wait, I thought your name was Nis-"
Before he could finish, Megumi's eyes took on a red glow and so did everyone's eyes who weren't wearing zodiac morphers.
The Hiroshi said, "Never mind, welcome back Megumi."
Megumi then retook her seat in front of Ranma and the world around her and the rangers seemed to stop.
"What exactly are you doing?" asked Ranma.
"Going to school. Just because I work for the other side doesn't mean I don't need an education," said Megumi.
"Shampoo kill," said Shampoo as she leaped out of her desk, followed by Kodachi.
"Not now girls," said Megumi as she waved her hands and stopped them in midair. "Look, I won't mess with you as long as you don't mess with me. However, this is only during school hours. After school is fair game."
"I hope for your sake you mean that," said Akane.
"Now what have I done to warrant such mistrust?" asked Megumi. Then she smiled, Kodachi and Shampoo were lowered back to their desk and the class resumed as if nothing had happened.
Hinako called, "Miss Takayama, I assume you have completed all the work you missed and have it ready to turn in."
Shampoo and Kodachi almost burst out laughing as Megumi began to stammer while trying to make up an excuse.
"So what do we do now my lord," asked Saffron.
The dark warrior smiled, "Isn't it obvious? We rub the lamp".
Koruma handed the dark warrior a cloth and stood back as her began to polish the lamp. Suddenly, a bright light began to stream from the lamps tip and poured onto the floor.
The light began to take form and as it died down, a creature emerged. It had a jackal's head and wore Arabian style clothing. The creatures skin was dark blue and two small chains dangled off the golden wrist cuffs it wore.
"Is that a genie?" asked Masara.
"At your service," said the Genie as he bowed to the dark warrior.
"So why did we have to wait several days for you to summon him my lord," asked Keima.
"I was deciding on what I should wish for," said Kage.
"Why not just wish for the rangers to be destroyed?" asked Koruma.
"Because Genie's can't do that," answered Taro as he walked into the room.
The Genie nodded, "He's right. I can't kill anyone, I can't make people fall in love and you can't wish for more wishes. You are only allowed three wishes."
"That's all I should need," said the dark warrior. "For my first wish, I wish for the sword of darkness to be returned to me."
The Genie bowed, "Your wish I my command." He then clapped his hands together and a strong dark aura flooded the room. A small pool of darkness appeared on the floor and a silver sword floated out of it. The top half of a skeleton was welded onto the blade with the skull resting on the top of the handle.
"Hello again my old friend," said Kage as he plucked the blade out of the air.
"What is that?" asked Keima.
Kage smiled, "My most powerful weapon. It was destroyed when I was defeated oh so long ago. This sword is the reason we need to harness negative feelings from people. With every terrified scream, greedy theft, or fist lashed out in anger, the strength of the sword grows." With that, Kage transferred all the negative energy he had collected since he awakened into the sword.
Then Kage turned towards Koruma and Masara, "You two, take the lamp and guard it. Genie, I wish for you to use your powers and start gathering dark energy, and don't let anyone stand in your way."
"Your wish is my command," said the Genie before disappearing back into the lamp. The magic mirror showed an image of the Nerima shopping district and Koruma and Masara jumped through.
After school, Ranma, Akane, and Mousse walked down the road to the shopping district.
"Why exactly are we window shopping," asked Ranma.
"Because I don't feel like going home just yet. Besides, would either of your rather be at the school where Shampoo, Ukyo, and Kodachi are having another death match?" said Akane.
"She has a point," said Mousse. "So what's with Carmilla coming back to your class?"
Akane shrugged, "She's going by Megumi now and she's probably plotting something for all we know."
"At least she kept her word and didn't try to cause any trouble with us while we were in school," said Ranma.
They soon came to a small takoyaki stand where Akane offered to treat Ranma and Mousse.
"You really don't have to do this," said Mousse.
"Don't worry about it. Friends are supposed to do things like this for eachother," said Akane.
"Yeah, shut up and take the hand out," said Ranma.
"If that's how you see it then you can pay for yourself Ranma," said Akane.
"Oh come on. It was only a joke."
Thinking quickly, Mousse pointed out, "What's going on over there."
Ranma and Akane looked over to see many people crowding around a pull cart. Three men stood around the cart. Two of them called out, "Step right up and witness the magic of the man known as Jinn."
The crowd began to cheer as Jinn began to reach out and pull playing cards out of thin air. Then he tossed the cards into the air where they turned into several white birds.
"He's good," said Shampoo as she walked up, dragging Ryoga behind her.
"What are you all doing in Kyoto," asked Ryoga.
"Shampoo found him in camping in school courtyard," said Shampoo.
"He's not so great, I could easily do that stuff," said Mousse.
"Now's not the time," said Ranma as he began to notice something. "Hey, do those two announcers look familiar?"
"They don't look like anyone I know," said Ryoga.
"It's Koruma and Masara. They're just wearing wigs," said Akane.
Just hten, one person in the crowd pushed a girl who was cheering for Jinn.
"What was that for?" yelled the girl.
"You stepped on my foot."
"Did not."
Then suddenly more people started arguing. A married couple began to argue over finances. Two boys began to argue over who should ask out a girl from their class.
"What's going on," asked Akane.
The mass arguments then began to spread like wildfire. Nevertheless, Jinn continued his act.
"We should morph," said Ranma.
"There's people everywhere, someone will see us," said Ryoga.
"We can use changing rooms," said Shampoo as she pointed to a clothing store.
Quickly, they headed over to the store just as an all-out riot was beginning to form.
"Sheng Xiao. Power up!"
The rangers left the store and charged Jinn who waved his hand in the air, summoning a bolt of lightning that struck the rangers down. Then the magician wrapped himself in a cloak and said, "If you interfere with my show, it will end badly for you." Then he yanked the cloak off of him, revealing his true form.
"I may not be able to destroy you but I can make you suffer like you've never suffered before," said the Genie.
The rangers regrouped and got ready for another attack when something unexpected happened. Koruma took out the lamp and said, "I wish for you to send those five away."
"Your wish is my command," said the Genie. Then with one clap of his hands, a wormhole opened up and it began to suck in air.
"What's happening," said Mousse.
"I don't wanna find out," said Ranma.
Suddenly, Shampoo tripped and began to fall into the wormhole.
"Shampoo, I'm coming," said Mousse as he reached for her and grabbed her wrist.
Masara however grabbed his bow and fired an arrow at Mousse's legs, forcing him to jump. Then Mousse felt something grab his leg and looked back to find Ryoga holding onto him.
"Why won't they just give up," said Koruma.
"Leave everything to me," said the Genie.
Then the Genie waved his hands through the air causing hundreds of spears to appear and fire at the rangers. The rangers tried to dodge the spears while remaining on the ground but the wormhole's power was growing stronger. Unfortunately, one of the spears managed to trip Akane, causing her to fly into Ryoga and knocking him off his feet.
"Akane," was the last thing Ranma shouted as he dived for his fiancé and disappeared with the other rangers inside the wormhole.
"Where did they go?" asked Masara.
"I sent them to another time," said the Genie.
"Why?" asked Koruma.
"You didn't give me a specific destination," said the Genie.
"Lord Kage is going to be mad when he finds out you used up the last wish," said Masara.
"The dark warrior still has one wish," said the Genie. "He just used a wish of his own."
"Oh"
The three of them noticed that the riot had since died down.
"Now that their gone, we should get back to work," said Koruma.
Cologne looked outside the kitchen to see Ukyo and Konatsu walk in.
"Oh good you're here. I could use some help. Shampoo and Mousse haven't showed up yet," said Cologne.
"That's weird," said Konatsu.
"Yeah, we just stopped by the Tendo's and Kasumi said that Ranma and Akane haven't come home yet either," said Ukyo.
"Hmm. Have you tried contacting them through the morphers?" asked Cologne.
"Not yet," said Ukyo.
Meanwhile, Konatsu had moved to the back and was already using his morpher to try and find the others. "Ranma, are you there?" Only static came from the other side. Konatsu continued to call the others, "Akane," nothing, "Mousse," nothing, "Shampoo," nothing.
Ukyo walked up, "What about Ryoga. He could be anywhere. Maybe he's seen the others."
Konatsu nodded and called, "Ryoga, are you there?" Once again, static.
"Maybe there's something wrong with the morphers," said Ukyo.
Then Ukyo tried to call Ranma only to be met with static. Konatsu then tried to call Kodachi.
"What do you need?" asked Kodachi.
"Hey, we got an answer. Kodachi, its Konatsu, I work with Ukyo. I was wondering if you have seen Ranma, Akane, Mousse, Shampoo or even Ryoga today."
"Not since school today. Why, is something wrong? Has someone happened to my darling Ranma?"
"Not that I know of."
"I'll be right there."
Within seconds, Kodachi teleported into the backroom with Ukyo and Konatsu.
"What has happened to my Ranma?" asked Kodachi.
Ukyo raised her eyebrow, "First of all, he's my fiancé, and secondly, we don't know. He, Akane, Mousse, Shampoo, and possibly Ryoga have all gone missing."
Kodachi gasped, "You don't think they've eloped do you?"
A look of horror appeared on Ukyo's face as she pictured Ranma and Akane getting married with Mousse and Ryoga serving as groomsmen and Shampoo and Akari as bridesmaids.
"Now I'm sure that's not the case," said a nervous Konatsu.
Cologne was seeing the last customer off when Tofu walked in. "It was the strangest thing. I was on my way to the shopping district when I saw hundreds of people rioting. I asked around and no one seems to know the cause," he siad
"That is strange," said Cologne.
Ukyo, Konatsu and Kodachi momentarily gave up their search and sat down while Cologne handed them each a bowl of ramen. Tofu decided to brows Colognes collection of books until he found the one he was looking for, the Chronicler.
Reading about the adventures of past rangers was always interesting. But as Tofu flipped through the pages, something caught his eye. New pages were being written. A picture slowly appeared showing the five missing rangers being sucked into a wormhole while a demon looked on in triumph.
Tofu quickly ran up to Cologne, "Take a look at this."
Colognes eyes went wide, "This must have just happened. This is not good."
The other three rangers walked over, curious as to what was going on.
"What kind of demon is that," asked Konatsu.
"It's a genie according to the text," said Kodachi.
"Never mind that, does the book say what happened to the Ranchan and the others?" asked Ukyo.
"No. The text stops just after their sucked into the wormhole," said Tofu.
Cologne closed the book, "If there is any hope of getting the others back, we need to capture that Genie or rather its lamp. If we can get the lamp, we can force the genie to bring back the others."
"Well we can't waste any time then," said Ukyo.
"Sheng Xiao, Power Up!" shouted the four remaining rangers before they teleported out of the cafe.
As soon as they left, a group of over ten people walked into the café.
Cologne sighed, "Of all the days for my employees to go missing."
The rangers decided to start looking for the Genie in the shopping district as it was the location it was last spotted at according to the Chronicler.
When they got there, they found the district in complete disarray.
"What happened here?" asked Ukyo.
"It was the rioting. According to the Chronicler, the Genie was using its powers to bring out the aggression in people. We're unaffected thanks to the power of the jade figures," said Tofu.
"I sure hope someone has a plan," said Konatsu.
"We need to get the lamp first. If we don't, we could wind up like the others," said Tofu.
"And how are we supposed to do that," said Ukyo.
"I believe I have the solution," said Kodachi as she pulled out a bouquet of roses.
The rangers walked around a little more to find more and more people rioting in the streets. Food carts were turned over, store windows were shattered, and things only got worse as the rangers continued deeper into the riots.
"We need to stop this," said Tofu.
"If you will allow me to take the stage," said Kodachi. The navy ranger raised her hands in the air and suddenly, many navy blue rose petals began to rain down, each one of them lased with sleeping powder.
Before long, most of the civilians were asleep.
"What's going on," said Koruma as he ran over to find out why the dark energy flow suddenly decreased.
It was then that he spotted the four remaining rangers. "Oh no", he said before turning around to get reinforcements.
"Get him," shouted Ukyo.
Konatsu quickly summoned his daggers and threw them toward Koruma. The daggers went through his pants and pinned Koruma to the ground.
Konatsu was the first to run over, "Where's the lamp?"
"I don't know what you're talking about," said Koruma.
Ukyo summoned her spatula and slammed it down on Koruma's head, "Feel like talking now."
"I'll never tell you anything," said Koruma.
"Here, let me," said Kodachi as she pushed Ukyo out of the way. She opened her palm and blew a small cloud of powder in Koruma's face.
"What was that?" asked Konatsu.
"Truth powder," replied Kodachi
Almost instantly Koruma revealed, "Masara has the lamp. We're using the Genie to gather dark energy from people by bringing out their negative feelings. I sleep with a teddy bear. I drink milk from the carton and…."
"Okay, that's enough," said Tofu as he pushed the sleep point on Koruma's neck, knocking him out.
As soon as Koruma was knocked out, Masara came looking for him with the Genie close behind.
"Quick get the lamp," said Konatsu as he pulled his daggers out of the ground and Koruma's pants.
The Genie quickly fired several lightning bolts at the rangers. The lightning struck Kodachi and Tofu while Konatsu and Ukyo were able to dodge.
As the green and white rangers got closer, Masara quickly rubbed the lamp, "Genie, I wish for you to grow."
"Your wish is my command," said the Genie as he began to grow.
Kodachi and Tofu recovered and quickly regrouped with the other too.
Upon seeing the size of the Genie, Kodachi asked, "What are we going to do now?"
The rangers suddenly had to dodge the Genie's foot as he tried to kick them.
"Konatsu and I will hold him off," said Ukyo.
"Good luck, we'll get the lamp," said Tofu.
Ukyo and Konatsu then raised their morphers to the sky, "We need Zodiac Zord power now."
Seconds later, Ukyo and Konatsu were inside their respective zords and had already formed the Wushu Megazord.
The Genie laughed and waved his hand in the air. As the wushu megazord charged forward, a net suddenly appeared and wrapped around it.
"That net will only get tighter the more you struggle," laughed the Genie. The Genie then opened his mouth and exhaled a stream of fire on the wushu megazord.
"We can't take much more of this," said Ukyo.
"What can we do? The net's so tight, we can't move," said Konatsu.
The Genie then summoned a spear with a drill in place of the blade. With one swing, the Genie knocked the wushu megazord off its feet.
The Genie then began to jab the drill spear into the wushu megazord causing numerous sparks to fly out.
"You rangers were foolish to think you could defeat me," said the Genie.
"He's just toying with us," said Konatsu.
"I just hope the other two are having more luck then we are," said Ukyo
Meanwhile, Kodachi and Tofu were forced to chase Masara all over town. Masara had dumped a kettle of warm water on himself reverting to his true bird warrior form. He was in the air with the lamp and had the violet and navy rangers right under him.
Kodachi leaped into the air and tossed her chakram at Masara who easily dodged it.
"Ha ha, you can't hit me," laughed Masara.
"You celebration is premature," said Kodachi as she tossed her chakram again with Masara once again dodging.
"Missed again," he laughed. However he was too busy gloating to notice that he was about to fly into a building.
Kodachi and Tofu almost winced at the loud cracking of the bricks when Masara hit the building. A few seconds later, he fell to the ground followed by a heap of his feathers.
"I'll relieve you of this," said Kodachi as she took the lamp from.
Tofu breathed a sigh of relief. However the second he looked away, Masara recovered and flew away.
Masara quickly tumbled through the magic mirror with the still sleeping Koruma slumped over his shoulder.
"My lord, the rangers have the lamp," said Masara.
"You idiots. You could have easily sent the other four away. But instead you choose for the Genie to grow," yelled Kage.
"It seemed like a good idea at the time,"
"I can see I'll have to handle this myself," said Kage.
The dark warrior placed the sword of darkness inside a sheath and strapped it on. He then pushed Koruma and Masara out of the way and stepped through the magic mirror.
Tofu was about to rub the lamp when an overwhelming dark presence began to blanket the area. In an instant, a powerful dark pulse erupted, knocking Kodachi away.
Then Tofu was kicked forward and into some trashcans.
"You," was all Tofu could say as he got up and stared into the face of the dark warrior.
In the blink of an eye, the dark warrior began to run towards the violet ranger. Tofu braced himself for the attack but felt nothing.
He quickly turned around and the saw the dark warrior sheathing one of his katanas.
"That lamp is more trouble than it's worth," was all he said.
Tofu looked down to see the lamp fall into several pieces.
"What about your Genie?" asked Tofu.
"He's just a demon now," said Kage. Then the dark warrior turned around, "Well, since I'm already here."
Then the dark warrior unsheathed the sword of darkness. Tofu summoned his claws just in time to block the blade as it came down on him. Kage continued to hold the blade in place with one arm while using the other to block a kick form Kodachi once she recovered.
"That Genie did well in gathering dark energy. My blade grows stronger by the minute," said the warrior.
Both Tofu and Kodach could see the dark energy being absorbed by the sword. Then without warning, the dark warrior kicked Tofu away and tossed Kodachi towards him.
The two waited for the dark warriors' final blow but it never came. A bright light came from their morphers and stopped the sword of darkness from striking them and the dark energy was beginning to leave it. Quickly the dark warrior pulled the sword away and sheathed it. Then he disappeared.
"What happened?" asked Kodachi.
"The light from our morphers protected us and dispelled the darkness from his sword," said Tofu.
Then Kodachi looked up at the wushu megazord to see that the Genie was still pummeling it with its spear.
"They need help," said Kodachi. The navy ranger recalled what Ukyo and Konatsu did and raised her morpher to the sky, "I need Zodiac Zord power now."
"My lord, what went wrong," asked Keima.
"The darkness wasn't strong enough," said Kage. "The power collected was not sufficient. It was too easily dispersed."
"You don't seem to upset about it," said Taro.
Kage smiled, "No matter what happens with the Genie, five rangers including that insufferable red one are gone to who knows where. I consider that a victory."
Out of the corner of his eye, Kage noticed Megumi's eyes go wide at the mention of Ranma's disappearance. However he shrugged it off as unimportant for now.
The Genie felt a drastic loss in his power and certain weights lifted from him. He came to the realization that his lamp must have been destroyed transforming him into a demon. The only upside being was that the restrictions on his powers were now lifted.
"Say goodbye rangers," said the Genie as his hands began to charge with power.
Ukyo and Konatsu braced themselves for impact. Then the Genie began to stagger back as several energy blast knocked him back.
"Where did that come from?" said Konatsu.
Within seconds, the snake zord slithered up. The zord looked as if someone attached a snakehead onto a monorail train. Inside the snakes mouth was a large gatling gun
"Demons should return from whence they came," said Kodachi. Then she typed in some keys and the snake zord began firing hundreds of energy blast per second. Every time the Genie tried to attack the zord, it would slither out of the way. Before long, the snake zord had slithered up the Genie's leg and wrapped around its torso.
"Ms. Ukyo, the net it weakening," said Konatsu.
"The Genie's concentration is broken. Quick, let's get out of this net and end this," said Ukyo.
"Summoning the wushu spade now," said Konatsu as he typed in several keys.
Once the spade materialized in the wushu megazords' hands, the megazord began spinning the weapon around, tearing the net off itself.
"I cannot hold onto this feind much longer," said Kodachi.
"Kodachi let go now," said Ukyo as she entered in a new keystroke. "Activating Final Strike: Yin Yang Cannon."
The shoulder cannons on the wushu megazord began to glow. Then as the snake zord let go of the Genie and slithered away, the megazord fired. A large yin and a yang symbol erupted from the cannons and spiraled toward the Genie. As the symbols connected with the Genie, they combined to form a single yin-yang which broke the Genie's body into thousands of pieces, destroying him.
Despite victory over the demon, the four remaining rangers sat in the Cat Café with disheartened looks on their faces.
"What do we do now?" said Ukyo
Cologne sighed, "I don't know. Without the lamp, we are without a way of reversing any of the Genie's spells."
"So the others are gone forever," said Konatsu.
"No, we can't give up hope. We'll find a way to get them back. Until then, we're the only ones left to protect the people from the dark warrior and his demons," said Tofu.
The rangers nodded, their hope renewed.
Meanwhile inside the wormhole, the other five rangers held onto each other as the wormholes power tossed them around.
"Whatever you guys do, don't let go," shouted Ranma as he held onto Akane and Ryoga as tight as possible.
"Wouldn't dream of it," said Akane, as she tightened her hold on Ranma and Shampoo.
Suddenly, Ryogas' hand slipped from Ranmas' and only Mousse was holding him.
"Ryoga, hold on," shouted Ranma.
"I've got him," said Mousse.
As Ranma reached to grab Ryoga, the wormhole's power tossed them once again causing Shampoo to lose her grip of Mousse.
"Mousse no," shouted Shampoo.
"Ryoga," shouted Ranma and Akane.
Then in the blink of an eye, the blue and black rangers disappeared into the void.
"They're gone," said Shampoo as she tried to comprehend what happened.
Then things got worse as the distraction caused Akane and Ranma to lose their grip of eachother.
The last thing Akane heard as she and Shampoo disappeared in the void was Ranma calling her name.
Kodachi flipped through the Chronicler looking for any clue to the Ranmas' location when something cought her eye.
Instantly, she got up found Cologne and the others, "I think I have just discovered something."
Kodachi then pointed out several newly written pages in the Chronicler. The only difference was that these pages were written in older chapters of the book instead of the chapter that chronicled the adventures of Sheng Xiao Rangers.
