Okay hey guys thanks for waiting and reviewing but just to answer a few questions, nope I didn't write the song but I wish I did it was from bleach movie two translated to English, and also if you guys can notice I tried using different POVs this time I thought that it was the best way to write this chapter, hope you guys don't mind xD so now that that's cleared here are some cupcakes to those who reviewed (thanks a ton) and also here's the 5th chapter. Chapter Five: The truth
Roof deck of the science building, 7:30am
Amu's POV
I lay down; my hands behind my head as I looked at the dark sky and let my thoughts fly. A lot of things happened these past few days, today was Monday so classes would begin at 9:00 not that I cared. After the incident I felt as though I was tired all the time. I usually slept during World History and Homeroom. There wasn't really a point in both of the subjects so I didn't feel the need to listen.
I didn't tell Rima about my sudden lack of energy either, she was too pre occupied, trying to look back to the night of the concert. I felt my throat dry up as I recalled the memory, I knew it too well and just recently it's been playing in my head over and over again. The girl limp on my arms, her eyes rolled to the back of her head as her mouth came agape. Her long hair soaked in her own blood and then…the reflection.
I couldn't tell anyone about it, though I did try. Tadase and Rima had several questions as to what I remembered before and after blacking out. I didn't remember much about the before part, I saw Sayuri introduce the band and then Utau came in. and then…nothing.
I then took into consideration what Rima said awhile back, having someone mess with my head was not how I wanted to start my fresh school year. I just wanted to be normal to be able to express myself properly. Instead of giving me my wish the universe instead made me a vampire, anything else they want to put in go ahead!
I then heard the back door open, I was too lazy to sit up so instead I waited until the person would either be smart and leave me alone or be insane and approach me. I preyed that, that person was smart. But then I knew the answer without having to look, when the oozing spicy mouth watering smell hit me, I knew who it was.
I heard him drop is bag as he sat a few inches away from me. He then spoke, "What brings you here?" and immediately hearing the sound of his voice made my teeth ache to rip his neck apart.
Before I could go any further to my daydream I sat up about to stand when my feet got caught in the strap of his bag. As usual with my ungraceful self I tripped. I didn't think it was a big deal since the fall would barely scratch me but then, he caught me. Now THAT was a big deal.
"Be careful" He warned,
I didn't know how to react; he was surprisingly quick to catch me. He was standing, his arms stretched out. His right arm was carrying my back and his left was wrapped around my waist. He also had a tight grip. I tried to smile an honest smile and succeeded. He smiled back. We were so close, I could easily see his neck, I just had to stand and immediately that blood would be flowing freely into my mouth.
It took me a long time before regaining my senses, what on earth was I thinking!? What was I doing? I'm a guardian. I swore to protect humans.
And then it hit me…
(flashback)
General POV
Amu was sitting on the couch lazily flipping the channels, she had nothing to do, and all of the Guardians were out for the summer. Tadase was busy with his family business if you may call it. Rima was out on vacation, Yaya was too busy taking care of her little sister, class president was with his family for the summer.
Remembering the guardians reminded her of her first time, it was sudden, when she woke up everything was suddenly red. She looked around and then caught sight of the mirror beside her bed. There she saw her own reflection, her eyes were blood shot red and her teeth seemed sharper. Then, the smell hit her, she was suddenly so thirsty. She drank the water which was placed on her headboard but then it felt as though the water was sand.
Amu came back to her senses when she heard the doorbell ring; it was probably her little sister, Ami. So she quickly shuffled to her feet as she opened the door. Ami came in carrying her school things as she entered gushing about her fun day, "I never knew summer workshops were so fun! We had…"
After she heard the first sentence everything went red, she knew what was going to happen but she still couldn't stop it from happening. Her eyes were now red, she saw Ami's shocked face as she grabbed her sister's hand, "Nee-chan, what is it?" She squeaked as Amu pulled her closer until her fangs were just inches away from her neck. Her fangs then closed into Ami's neck as Ami cried in pain.
Before Amu could drink anymore her eyes returned back to normal and she quickly backed away from her sister. Ami was still standing when she spoke, "Nee-ch-" Ami then collapsed her eyes rolled to the back of her head.
Amu caught her before she reached the ground, it had only been two months since she last discovered that she was a vampire, from there she hadn't drunk a single drop of blood, she didn't think she would be shaken so easily. Luckily Ami was fine; she regained consciousness before Amu's parents got back home. And her memory was gone with the pain in her neck. The mark on her neck was said to be a mosquito bite and everything went back to normal. But not for Amu.
(End of Flashback)
Amu's POV
I then looked up and saw Ikuto's face he was looking right at me, I had to get away. So I murmured thanks and went for the door. I didn't care if I left my bag there, just as long as I wouldn't have to see him anymore.
But nothing was going my way today.
I went into the classroom 30 minutes before class, the room was almost full and students were talking about the quiz that we had for World History. Then he came.
I had to check my pockets to see whether he had a tracking device on me. I just wanted to be alone, didn't he know English? Does he want a translation?
He opened the door and closed it behind him; all eyes were on him, just as expected. He walked past the gawking girls and went to my table holding my bag up to me, "You left this." He said as he grinned
Immediately my heart fluttered at the sight of his smile but then my attitude saved me again, "Thanks." I plainly replied as I took the bag
He grinned again and sat on my table, he then began staring at me again. This time I was purely annoyed, "Don't you have to be somewhere else?"
"And where would that be?" He replied in a mocking tone. Jezz even his voice sounds appealing, there really has to be something wrong with me.
"I don't know, you're classroom?" I replied.
"Why? Don't you want me here?"
"No" I lied.
He then got off my desk and stood, "See ya." He replied as he went out of the room.
After he closed the door the room was still silent, this time all eyes were on me. If this was going to last the whole day then I might as well skip this class. Who cares if Kukai kills me with his laps or if Tadase would overwhelm me with his speeches? I needed to get out. Now.
Class 1B, 2nd Period, Homeroom
Rima's POV
I looked at the pocket book which lay on my desk, it was homeroom and as usual no one was listening to the teacher. He was discussing something about hygiene and a few simple words were on the board so I didn't see the need to copy. Instead I thought that somehow I could unwind but I was wrong as usual. I couldn't help but look outside the window. It was a habit that I unconsciously did every time I would think about something.
Amu hasn't spoken to me in a while, of course I was busy myself but I didn't have to read her mind to know that something was bothering her. I noticed her change during the summer but didn't mind it since she was still open to me. But now its as though she's a total stranger, Tadase also noticed this so I knew its not just me.
"Rima" One of the guys behind me called and I turned
"What?" I spat. I didn't really feel like talking. Actually I never felt like talking.
"Um," He began as he leaned closer so that no one would hear, "You know Hinamor-"
"No."
"But I saw yo-"
"You must have seen wrong" Couldn't this guy take the hint?
"But-"
I glared and he backed away. Finally. Peace and Quiet.
I then returned back to my vision two days back, I saw a woman, she was wearing a peach colored business suit. There were two girls beside her, one was wearing their school uniform, a red coat over a white shirt with a short checkered skirt. The girl had long fiery red hair but her face was blurred. Beside the red head was another girl, she was wearing a black dress with knee high boots, this one had blond hair tied up to a double pony. I couldn't see their faces though, this is what irritated me. No matter how much I tried to recall the vision, it always turned out the same.
I sighed and turned towards the teacher who was now writing our assignment for the day. Soon the bell would ring and I had to meet with the SC.
And soon after the bell did ring, I gathered my books and went out of the classroom, next was Bio and my books were still in my locker room, "Ah! Mashiro-san!"
I turned and saw Tadase rushing towards me, "What is it?"
"Have you seen Hinamori-san?"
I shook my head and he sighed.
"I was hopping to have a word with her"
"I'll tell her to find you when I see her" I replied he nodded and smiled I looked away as we both went on our separate ways.
Tadase was too kind for his own good.
Amu's POV
I heard the bell ring as I turned to the side, I was lying down again, this time I made sure the door behind me was closed. I would have gone to my room but people would have seen me go in there thus having a higher chance of getting caught. I then remembered that I had Foreign languages as my next class, I still didn't feel like going to class so I closed my eye lids and slowly my mind drifted off.
I knew I hadn't fallen asleep yet since I was sure that touch and that smell was not a mere figment of my imagination. I didn't want to open my eyes, for I knew that I would just end up slapping or punching the very person that sat beside me. How is it possible for a person to go through a solid wall? I was pretty sure that I locked that door shut.
"What are you doing here?" I asked I didn't dare open my eyes.
"I should ask you the same question; second period started 30 minutes ago"
"Your point?" I said and I turned to my side trying to get a little shut eye.
(Dream)
I opened my eyes and saw nothing but darkness around me, I started walking on the long path which was laid out in front of me. I continued to walk and walk until slowly the scenery changed. Black and red splats started to cover my surroundings until it painted a clear picture. I was standing on a street with uneven bricks as a carriage drove past me. Then I heard a loud sharp scream, I covered my ears as several screams followed. I looked behind me and saw a village. They had leaves for roofs and their houses were made out of wood. It reminded me of an old American movie featuring medieval times.
I then felt something swept past me and grabbed my arm, I unconsciously resisted and the boy in front of me turned. He had blond hair and blue eyes, he was wearing a black cloak and a hood slung behind his back. He was talking to me, but I couldn't hear what he was saying. He was shouting at me this time, I saw creases starting to form on his forehead and his mouth was wider.
"Tadase-kun" I whispered
Then I heard their voices again, this time his voice was clear as well, "Amu! We need to get out of here!"
He started pulling me again but I resisted against his hard grasp, finally I escaped and I ran as fast as I could, I heard fast footsteps behind me, but then slowly they started to fade. I looked at my surroundings and saw that everything started to blur. I soon realized that it wasn't because of my eye sight. I was running too fast.
I quickly came to a stop and saw the middle of the village where several cottages were on fire. Everywhere I could see people running, then after a few seconds they were on the ground, dead. I merely stood at awe, I then heard something come after me from behind, I instinctively turned and ran the opposite way. The thing stopped, and I glared, I then saw who it was. It was a woman, she had a slender body which was covered in blood, her hair was a light gold and her eyes were a dark red.
"Hoshina-san?" I blurted out shock evident in my face, someone followed from behind her a tall broad man stood his hand was around Utau's shoulder protectively.
"Don't touch her!" I heard Tadase say and after a few seconds he was beside me as well. A growl escaped his lips as he crouched forward about to attack.
Utau mirrored his actions as well as the man beside her, who I recognized was Ikuto. I blinked and felt hot tears streaming down my face slowly my vision started to turn red. I moved quickly in front of Tadase before he could lung towards them. He was shocked by my actions but I had to do something.
"Stop!" I yelled but it wasn't my voice, it was as though a stranger spoke in my place, it was deep and hoarse but quickly Tadase moved back his eyes still on Utau and Ikuto.
I heard Utau gasp and when I turned I saw Ikuto glare at me. What did I do? I just saved their lives!
"Let's go Utau" I heard Ikuto say and in a flash they were gone.
I then looked at Tadase, this time he was looking at the ground, "I was just trying to protect you Amu-nee"
(End of Dream)
I opened my eyes with the heavy feeling I felt inside me, I couldn't recall what happened but I knew it wasn't good. I sat up and at the corner of my eye I could see Ikuto lying down his eyes on the sky, I suddenly had the urge to get away from him. I turned back about to stand up when he touched my hand. I flinched and turned to see him sitting up too a grin on his face. I felt my blood boil.
"What is it?" I snapped.
"Touchy" He replied as he stood up, "You weren't planning to leave me alone now were you?"
"So what if I did?" I said hesitantly
The loud bell interrupted us and I looked at my wrist watch, "4:00!?" I exclaimed, "Why didn't you wake me up!?"
"I thought you didn't care" He teased
"Skipping half the day is one thing, skipping a whole day is another!" I said as I threw my arms in the air out of panic. I started pacing as Ikuto crossed his arms watching me.
I didn't have time to get pissed at him again. I had to figure out a way to get myself out of trouble, I could get back at him later.
He grinned in reply as though he could hear my thoughts.
"Ikuto" I heard a voice call from bellow, and then a figure shot out from the edge of the building. I was taken aback when I saw Hoshina Utau.
Ikuto's POV
Amu was fun to look at ranting like that, I didn't think that it would have been this fun looking after her. Of course she was still my enemy nothing would change that, though I was still wondering why Tadase would not tell her of her real roots. She was one of us, a pure blood even though she did not know it.
I then heard slow pacing as I turned to the side, crap. It was Utau
"Ikuto" I heard her say, she was probably running on the wall since when she jumped she came from the very edge of the building. She landed gracefully on the roof top just a few inches from Amu.
Amu.
Great, just great.
I saw Utau's expression change when she saw Amu next to me. Her eyes narrowed from me then back at Amu, "Ikuto, what's this?"
I sighed and reached for Amu's hands, she was quick, she saw it coming and moved quickly to the side, "Hoshina, Utau?" She said
I saw her glance back from me to Utau, Utau's eyes were still red from the running but it was obvious when Utau growled at Amu.
"Vampire…" Amu whispered as she stared blankly at Utau, I could see that she was patching up the events that happened the past few days, "Impossible" I heard her whisper
I merely stood I didn't say anything but Utau wasn't thinking the same thing, "Ask your bratty king, he's been holding back the things you ought to know"
"Utau…" I warned but she didn't listen
"We're doing you a favor" Utau said simply, this time she was standing straight her eyes were still red though, out of anger most probably
"You're wrong" Amu contradicted
"You're not sure yourself" Utau said, "You know it yourself, strange things have been happening to you lately right?"
Amu was quiet now but Utau continued, "The pure blood's blood runs through your veins that's why-"
I saw Amu run from where she stood, she ran straight through the doors even though they were sealed shut. She just used my ability, and so I realized that this is what Sanjo-san meant when she said that they needed Amu, anyone would want her once they knew what she could really do.
I looked at Utau, "That was too much Utau, what will sanjo-san say-"
"It's better this way, this is what Sanjo-san wanted to happen anyways, the sooner the better" Utau said as she opened the door and closed it behind her leaving Ikuto.
Amu's POV
I ran.
I couldn't hear it anymore, nothing made sense, what did Tadase have to do with this? And how was Utau a vampire? Was Ikuto a vampire too? But then how can he be one when I long so much for his blood?
I knew there was something up, but then again was Rima wrong, was everything coming from me all along? The premonitions, the extra strength?
Then another Memory hit me,
I was sure that I had forgotten what I dreamed just minutes ago but now I saw it all. I remembered every excruciating minute, Ikuto was a vampire and so was Utau but then slowly I focused on Tadase.
He called me Amu-nee.
He called me nee-chan
My head started to spin again as I felt that uncomfortable feeling dragging my body down. I slowed down as I came to a stop. I then saw that I was in front of the soccer field. I saw several students who were running from the other side of the field, then I saw a brown haired boy with a yellow shirt different from the rest. I then noticed that it was Kukai.
He was running guiding the rest of the players, I then remembered what I heard a few days back. He was the captain of the soccer team, go figure. But now, we couldn't talk like old times, when we used to joke and play around, when it was only about my thirst, such trivial things compared to this.
I held my knees close to my chest as I watched them play, I didn't know how the time passed but then I felt my eyelids close out of exhaustion.
I felt my body slide from the ground as someone brought me up, I didn't have the strength to open my eyes so I let them stay closed. I then felt the pull strengthen, this time I had to open my eyes. The first thing I saw was blue hair, then his perfect face and his golden eyes which now slowly turned to red. I then looked down bellow me too see us suspended in the air.
My eyes were wide as he regained footing and landed on one of the windows. He then jumped again this time it was stronger, I felt the wind pass me as I saw what he was doing, he was going for my room and he didn't plan on stopping, he was going straight for the wall. I closed my eyes and said a short prayer that my wall would not be hurt.
But then when we came to a stop I saw that we were inside my room, the window was still in one piece and so was the wall, I let out a sharp breath as I looked at Ikuto. He was grinning and I struggled from his grasp until I was sure that I was on my own two feet again.
"What were you-" I then got caught in my breath as my eye lids felt heavy, I felt my feet sag as two strong arms caught me. I couldn't be this tired but I felt so drained.
I felt the nice soft cushion on my back and saw that I was on my bed, my eye lids closed shut as I slept, I didn't care whether he was beside me or not. I just wanted to sleep.
