Chapter eight:

Author's note: Hey guys thanks so much for reviewing my past chapter. And to those beyond curious to know what really is amu's past you'll have to wait (hopefully) in the next chapter :D

So now here's chapter eight :P

Chapter eight: Questions

Amu's POV

I looked around my eyes were wide trying to find a way out somehow. The creaking of the tires only made it worse, the familiar scenery came into picture. That big golden gate with the sign SHS written in bold golden letters.

My hands balled to fists instantly.

I am not going to be intimidated

I can do this

I can do this

I can do this

After my 27th chant the big limousine pulled over catching the eyes of several students. I glanced at my thin silver watch given to me as a gift by sanjo-san. The big hand pointed at 12 and the smaller hand at 35, so it was lunch. Just perfect.

Sanjo-san cleared her throat, "Okay here we are, I'll be in contact with you so make sure I can reach your cell phones"

Eva and Utau nodded, Ikuto ignored her and I reached for my iphone inside my skirt's right pocket. Also a gift given to me by Sanjo-san. I inhaled through my nose and sighed, this was not going to be easy.

Ikuto looked at me and grinned. My heart fluttered and I couldn't help but grin back. Sanjo-san cleared her throat again.

"And Ikuto, I expect you to be around Amu just incase anything happens"

For once Ikuto nodded.

"Okay then that's it…" She said as she leaned towards all of us and hugged us tightly and just on cue the driver opened the door of the big limousine as Utau, Eva and Ikuto got out. I then followed behind them which made several students around us gasp.

The driver then handed me a suitcase and a guitar case which he both held in his hand, "Sanjo-san asked me to give it to you, something about a wardrobe change"

I sweat dropped as I took the suitcase and the guitar case. I then smiled at him and murmured a thanks. He smiled back and came around the limousine to the driver's door.

I quickly turned and headed out towards the girl's dormitory

(Flashback)

"I have great news everyone!" Sanjo-san thrilled as she tapped her glass with a fork for effect, "You're all going back to Seiyo High School next week!"

Utau's expression was blank as she finished her soup, Eva grinned and I merely stared at her my eyes were probably out of my head since I heard Eva and Sanjo-san laugh earned a grinning face from Ikuto and I even heard Utau hold back a chuckle

"Don't worry copy cat little prince won't be able to touch you while I'm around" Eva said as she smiled triumphantly

Copy cat a new nickname she gave me, she said something about being the perfect name considering my abilities. But I was too shocked to ponder on that one.

"B-but!" Was all I could manage to say

"You didn't actually think that I was going to let you skip your high school" Sanjo-san said, "Plus your not alone, Ikuto and Eva and even Utau-chan will be there"

"Yeah don't you trust me?" Ikuto said, that was his first sentence for the whole night. He then reached for my hand from across the table and I felt my cheeks burn bright red.

"And even without Eva's help you're sure to overcome him, like I said a few weeks back, you're a full blooded vampire"

Thos words rang in my ears…right…I was a pure blood…I could stand up on my own, but still, facing him and the rest of my friends…facing my potential brother and maybe having to fight him…it just sounded wrong.

But then the past came back to me and I felt myself burning with rage. Who cares, I know I shouldn't

(End of Flashback)

I started walking towards the girl's dormitory when I felt several eyes starring at me. I suddenly felt conscious about myself. 3 months had passed since the last time I've step foot in campus. Sure enough several rumors must have spread as to my whereabouts but I still refuse to focus on that.

All I was asking for was a peaceful year.

I then felt my heart come to an abrupt stop.

No…way

Why now of all times?

I whined in my head as I started to brisk walk, I knew that scent anywhere, which only meant that Kukai and Tadase were somewhere nearby.

Maybe I'm just overreacting…?

I tried to make it rational in my head, there was no way I mean whoever controlled my faith could not be this harsh as to set me up with them on the first day.

I then stopped at my tracks.

What am I so worried about?

I mean look at me, I'm brisk walking for no reason

Everyone must look at me like I'm some lunatic

I took a deep breath and started to even my pace, I couldn't panic now. I just had to relax.

I just had to breathe…

"Hinamori Amu!" I felt myself jump out of my skin.

I turned and sure enough it wasn't them, it was just a familiar face from school. I tried to smile but then again my outer shell just wouldn't crack today. Apparently with sealing off my thoughts and emotions, I also sealed up my will to have fun and smile.

"What is it?" I asked coolly

When she finally caught up to me she sighed and struggled to even out her breathing. When she was sure she could speak in full sentences she cleared her throat, "There's something going on…Friday night"

She then handed me a long envelope discretely, "It was a last notice thing to invite you, but luckily you made it back just in time"

I got the envelope and shoved it to my side bag. She then smiled, "See you there"

Physical Education class, Thursday, 1:30 pm

I tapped my shoes nervously on the grass as several girls stared me down. I knew I was gone long but when would the staring stop?

The coach blew his whistle as the two classes; class 1D and class 2A gathered around him, I sat on the grass as the coach gave his short lecture. The man never lasted 15 minutes talking.

"Now as you all know Hinamori has come back and so I'll be placing her in either blue or black. Team leaders make your call" The coach said as he brought out a coin and flipped it."

"Heads!" I heard Kukai shout and gulped. Oh please not him

"Tales" I heard another voice say but I wasn't sure who it was

"Tales it is!" The coach announced, "Alright then, same old same old. The grade goes to the winner for this game. So I expect you all to work you're butts off."

"Hinamori!" I heard several of my classmates call as I joined them

I then came face to face with a guy, one of Kukai's friends if I recalled correctly. He had short black unruly hair and a hard build. His eyes were dark black and his skin was tanned from the sun. If I didn't know better, he was one of the players in the school varsity.

"Alright, so Hinamori, where you good at?" He asked

I shrugged, "Anywhere" I replied flatly

I saw his eyes gleam and I heard a few girls choke up a laugh, wow I haven't been here for more then a day and already people were getting under my skin.

"Alright then, let's see what ya got" He said as he patted my back. This was beyond pointless. I don't even know why they ever added PE as a subject. But then I was thankful that at least some of that training would be put to good use.

The coach blew the whistle just after Kento assigned our positions, I was supposed to follow his lead and our positions were going to be at the center field.

As I was jogging towards the center I saw Kukai heading for the same direction. This was going to be interesting…

The coach threw the ball and Kukai swooped in to get it. The girl beside him stepped back. A good choice, once Kukai's set on the ball its best to stay out of the way. I on the other hand can't wait to see his reaction.

I followed Kento as he trailed to Kukai's left. I went for his right, he went towards my side probably thinking that it would be easier, wrong choice.

Before he got to swerve right and to kick the ball in the process I dove for it kicking it towards Kento where he easily got the ball and passed it to our teammate until we heard the sound of our coach's whistle signaling that we had made a goal.

Kukai's face was priceless!

He looked at me with shock then, he grinned. I guess the old Kukai was still in there.

After a few kicks and turns their team ended up winning by one point just when the timer buzzed for the end of the game. Kento and Kukai slapped hands as others moaned in defeat. Nonetheless I had to admit, I did have fun.

I walked back towards the bleachers where I found my bag. The loud bell rang signaling the end of classes a few girls greeted me on the way back to the dorm and I couldn't help but grin.

"Amu!" Kukai shouted "Hold on!"

I stopped and faced him my expression went blank. A few moments ago I was as happy as a bird and suddenly I changed to a hawk. Some mood swing. But once I saw his expression I couldn't help but frown, I new what he was going to ask me.

"Oh good" He said as his expression grew serious, "Amu…what happened? Where did you go? We've been looking all over…"

I saw his forehead crease and I shook my head. I didn't want to make him my enemy but if I need to be then I will be, "Nothing."

3333333333333333333333333333333333

I made sure my room was locked and my curtains closed before I opened the letter which was lying on my desk. I'd just open this and whatever it was I was going to get it over with.

I opened the letter and took out the card inside,

Biggest concert of the year. Silence.

Venue: SHS Myrac Building

Time: 10pm onwards

INVITATION ONLY

I placed the card back inside the envelope, where was Myrac building? Was there even such a thing as it in the campus? And why would anyone even think of inviting me…to something like that.

I was never the party girl type, and apparently the one who sent these invites weren't the talkative types either. I laughed at my own joke as I lay back on my bed. But this might just be what I'm looking for, something to get myself distracted on.

33333333333333333333333333333333333333333333

Girl's Dormitory, Amu's dorm room, 5:00am

AAAAAAAAH!

A high pitched screech caught my attention as I shoved myself out of my bed, I looked at my watch as my heart started to pound out of my chest then back in its place again. This was repeatedly done until I slammed my bedroom door open and looked at the scenery from across the hallway.

After that my heart permanently slammed to my chest threatening not to beat any longer.

The scenery which I saw in front of me seemed like a nightmare. Even with my several dorm mates squeezing towards the room at the end of the hall I could still smell the metallic scent which filled the air. I felt my hands clutch the sides of my door as I walked towards the group of girls gathered.

I was able to push aside several girls until I saw the picture in front of me. A girl, a sophomore student was lying on the ground, her face was pale and her eyes showed no pupils, it only glowed pure white as I heard a loud shriek and a thud on the ground.

This cannot be happening.

I rubbed my forehead with my thumb and index finger

Oblivious to my surroundings I entered the room, which to my surprise I saw a broken window several shards were on the floor but no blood.

I looked at the girl on the ground trying to block out any sound that may have come from my dorm mates, this was serious, there was a sign of struggle, her arms had several scars in them and one of her legs were sprawled in an irregular way.

I then saw the two marks on her neck and two more marks on the palm of her hand.

I felt the air crush out of my lungs.

After a few minutes the rest of the noise tuned in

"I-isa-chan!" I heard someone half shout half weep

"Get the Dorm head" I heard myself say, I couldn't even believe that I could still speak without hearing my voice falter.

But then I felt hot tears streak my cheeks.

And only a single question formulated in my head…

Who?

Our dorm head rushed into the scene before one of the girls could call her up. Several seniors also took the flight of stairs curious as to what had happened. But once they heard the loud gasp coming from the dorm head they knew what was coming and they took the right choice as to usher everyone else out of the floor.

I on the other hand stayed.

Our dorm head checked for her pulse and shouted, "Call the teachers! The police! Anyone!"

I could see her frantic expression as she looked at the dead body her eyes wide with shock. Apparently they didn't teach the dorm heads how to deal with dead corpses.

Soon after about the whole entire faculty was called to our dorm as well as several police officers. The rest of us were asked to evacuate the building while the police did the investigation. I was the first one out of the building not caring that I only had a sleeveless shirt and black colored shorts.

As the students vacated the building I noticed several students grieving for their lost friend. I couldn't help but look away…

(Vision)

I held him in my arms as a tear drop escaped my eye, it was unlike me but I couldn't hold it any longer, seeing him so broken. Like this.

Not again. Not him.

I held my breath and sighed shakily as he coughed out some blood

"Ak-" I struggled

He placed his finger on my lips as he smiled, "Tadashi-kun"

"N-no" I struggled as I shook my head knowing that once he called him it only meant that he was going to erase everything, "No" I said in a whisper once more

He held my face in his hands, "You won't have to see anyone die in front of you anymore, I promise"

His hands left my face as I felt another one touch my forehead and slowly, it all slipped away…

(End of vision)

"Amu!"

"Amu!"

I quickly snapped back to reality seeing a blond haired girl wave her hand in front of my face. She sighed and grabbed my arm, "You scared the crap out of me, I seriously thought you were going to faint"

"Faint?" I repeated

"Yeah, you should have seen yourself; you were as white as a ghost" Utau said as she ushered me towards a bench where Ikuto and Eva were waiting.

I wrapped my arms around myself as I shivered. Okay maybe leaving without a sweater or a coat was the worst decision I made today.

I felt a warm cloth drop to my shoulders and felt myself exhale in delight. I then felt a strong hand around my shoulders as he pulled me towards his chest, I could stay like this forever…

He chuckled at my reaction but I ignored it, "So, what happened?" He asked with his usual bored tone

"Didn't see anything, the scene was 4 floors down" Eva replied and Utau nodded, "Same here"

He nudged me as I came back to reality…aww…couldn't I just stay there a bit longer?

I looked at their stares and sighed. Apparently not.

I straightened up, "A sophomore was found dead…in her room" I said and felt myself shaking, "S-she had…marks" I managed to utter

They got the idea real fast though, something I was glad for, I didn't think I could still utter another word with Ikuto beside me, his eyes bearing into mine.

Ikuto stiffened at my side and Utau and Eva exchanged glances.

"What?" I asked

"Amu, please be more careful next time" Ikuto whispered in my ear so soft that it had to take several minutes to properly process it inside my head.

"What do you mean?" I said a little protectively

"Amu, you can't be taken off guard…" Ikuto said and I froze…right, it happened in my floor and I hadn't noticed a single thing until I heard the shouting and screaming.

I felt my weight double.

If I would have noticed then…then…I might have…

I felt my throat dry

"Same goes for you two" Ikuto said and Utau gave Ikuto a look, Eva just sighed and played with her hair, "You two were also in the building so-"

I heard myself gasp as the picture in front of me swirled until it slowly faded. This time I let the premonition come in, as if welcoming it…

(Vision)

I reached for the lost memories but my hand seemed to go through the different images which now surrounded me…no….I won't let this happen…

I struggled against the hand which lay on my head and shoved it aside. I saw several people carrying the body which was laid on my lap, they weren't going to take him away…no…they weren't!

Before I could move an inch I heard that growl which only made my feet quiver, "You should know better then this Aimi, You know Aki had his reasons and since he was still our leader at that time we have to respect his last request"

My hands were shaking at the sound of his voice…I had no choice but to obey, it was like his voice was pulling me towards him, I tried to resist but to no avail. I ended up freezing as I felt Tadashi's hand on top of my head. This was it, I was powerless.

"Don't worry Aimi-nee, this will be over soon" He said reluctantly as my vision blurred.

(End of vision)

"Hey, Amu…Amu!"

I blinked at the sound of Ikuto's voice and felt myself trembling; slowly tears filled my eyes as I let them fall freely. I felt…disoriented…confused…scared…

Ikuto looked at me again this time his hands pulled me towards him protectively. I looked in front of us where Tadase stood. His eyes were searching mine as I looked away. When did he come?

He then looked at me for the last time and sighed, "Hinamori-san I just want to get your story straight…" He said "Where were you last night?"

My eyes grew wide, duh. I was the only one there, the only vampire…on that floor. I bit my lower lip refusing to answer; knowing that once I would answer my voice would falter. Instead I tried to focus on other things, and I tried to forget the vision which injected so much pain into me.

"Hinamori-san?" He prompted

I looked at Eva begging her to do anything

"Hotori-san, Amu is still shaken up from it, and how could you possibly think that Amu would have anything to do with this?" She said in her innocent tone. She was good.

He looked at her, "I-I don't, it's just that we're interviewing everyone on the floor, its kind of SOP"

Eva nodded and smiled politely at him as he strode off. I was feeling a intervention later.

"He doesn't know that you guys are-" I said but Eva quickly cut me off, "Nope, that's the best part"

A flash of the vision came to me and I sighed weakly. Crap, if this went on I wasn't looking forward to standing up any time soon.

"You alright?" Ikuto asked as he brushed his fingers on my forehead to put aside a lock of my hair

"I-I'm fine" I breathed "It just came again…"

"What did you see?" Eva asked a little too excitedly as Ikuto shot her a look, "Oh come on, you want to know too"

"It was nothing, just blurred…I really couldn't make it out" I lied.

Eva shrugged as Utau stood up, "Ikuto, I need sleep…can I stay in your room?"

I felt my cheeks redden at the idea, I just recently knew that Ikuto and Utau were brothers and sisters and the whole different last names were just for show, but still…I just couldn't wrap my head around the idea.

"Yeah, sure" He said as he threw her the keys

"Evangeline, want to come? He's got a full collection of CDs and video games"

Eva immediately stood up, "I'm there."

I laughed, "Video games?"

He shrugged, "Easter gave it to me as some kind of reward, I was thinking of throwing it away"

"Can I have it?" Eva asked and Ikuto nodded, "Knock yourself out"

Eva smiled brightly as she fell instep with Utau heading for the guy's dormitory.

"Anyways, look who's talking, a person with that much plush is inhuman" He teased and I felt my cheeks redden once more

"Well I don't exactly account as human and you don't either, so no foul" I said and he smirked

"Hinamori Amu?" I girl called from behind and I turned, my mood uplifted.

"What?" I asked coolly

"SC requests for you in the Chamber"

I blinked, way to ruin my day.

I nodded and stood up, beside me I felt Ikuto tense up. I tried to smile while I walked away. Trying to reassure him that everything will be fine. Now if only I got myself to believe that.

33333333333333333333333333333333333333

It was warm and cozy inside as I felt myself slip into the chair offered to me. I just had to focus on breathing…

"Hinamori-san"

I looked at Tadase, "What is it?" I tried to sound as less annoyed as possible but the venom was still evident in my voice.

"Amu, we just want to talk" Kukai said as he sat down beside Tadase.

I felt myself smaller as I looked at all of them. Kukai was at the middle, Tadase was at his right and Kyo was at his left. Sayuri and Rima were MIA

"Talk about what?" I asked casually as I crossed my ankles. Wow were did that come from?

"Where were you?" Kukai asked "For the past 3 months we've been looking all over for you"

I inhaled. Here goes everything.

"I went back home" technically I did go back home But they didn't need to know which one…

"We called your house several times" Kyo put in, "They said they had never heard of the name Hinamori Amu"

I gulped; okay obviously they would call my house, "What do you mean?" I asked trying to widen my eyes and trying to portray a shocked expression.

"Exactly what Kyo said, they said that we must have gotten the wrong number, and I recognized your mother's voice" I nearly scoffed, mother. Ha, funny.

I blinked and they sighed. That was easier then I thought.

"Amu" Kukai said "What happened that day…"

What!? He told them!?

I felt my blood rise to my head as I stared at Tadase. I can't believe it. He told them!

I stood up and everyone in the room froze. Guess they weren't expecting that.

"I suggest you leave me alone from now on" I said as I pulled Ikuto's coat from the chair and put it on, "Whatever happened then is done" I said as I let the last words sting.

Translation: I never want to see your faces again, we were friends and that's that. You're lucky enough I don't rip you all to shreds.

I walked out before Kukai could catch up to me. I just needed the comfort of my room so that I could cry in peace. I don't care what the hell they tell me. The hell with all those cops and teachers. I'm going to my room.
