First time publishing a M*A*S*H fanfiction, but I've been writing them for quite some time.
Rated T for now, rating may change with time.
Seeing as the M*A*S*H finale aired 14 and a half years before I was even thought about, I don't own it.
"Mail call." Radar came into The Swamp. "Two for you, Major Winchester. What looks like a medical journal and one from your dad, Captain Pierce. And where's Captain Hunnicutt, he has one, I think it's from his wife, it has a California postmark."
"Radar, I've told you before, call me Hawkeye. And BJ is in post-op, he'll be back soon, so just leave it on his cot for him."
"Uh, yes sir." Radar left the tent after dispensing the mail.
BJ came into the tent about 10 minutes later. "Your shift now, Charles." He said to the Major, before looking to Hawkeye. "Did I miss much?"
"Mail call. Yours is on your cot." Hawkeye replied, already rereading the five-page long letter from Dr. Pierce sr.
"Ah, it's from Peg." BJ smiled, sitting down on his cot and starting to read it, his face falling as he progressed. "No, this can't be happening. No." He whispered.
"What's wrong, Beej?" Hawkeye asked softly, moving to sit with his friend. BJ passed him the letter, which he read quickly. "Oh, Beej. I'm so sorry. I know Peg is your world. I could never have thought this would happen."
"And she says that I can no longer see my own daughter. I hate it. I've lost the two things that are my life."
"Come on. I'll buy you a cup of coffee in the mess." Hawkeye said, gently guiding BJ out of the tent. In the mess tent, Colonel Potter and Margret were sat together, drinking coffee. Hawkeye grabbed him and BJ a mug each and went over to them. "Mind if we join you?"
"Sure, pull up a bench." The CO smiled. The captains sat opposite the Major and Colonel.
"BJ, are you alright? You look kinda down." Margret asked. BJ looked at Hawkeye for support.
"Do you want me to tell them?" The older surgeon asked in a whisper, receiving a slight nod from the other. "BJ got a letter from Peg." Hawkeye started. "He's been Dear Johned."
