The Plight of King K. Rool
King K. Rool was at his computer desk as usual. He and his Kremling crew have been
out of work in Donkey Kong video games since Donkey Kong Barrel Blast and only had
a minor role in Mario Super Sluggers as a playable character and a cameo as a trophy in
Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
''Sire, if I may make a suggestion?'' a Kremling asked as he came in with coffee.
''What?'' K. Rool asked not looking from the computer screen.
''Why don't you go out jogging?'' the Kremling asked. ''It's a beautiful morning
today.''
''We're in THE MIDDLE OF THE OCEAN YOU IDIOT!'' K. Rool roared.
''O-o-oh yeah,'' the Kremling said cowering. ''We'll, it's my turn to swab the poop
deck. I must be going!''
''When am I going to get a major role in a new game?!'' K. Rool asked pounding his
fists on table. K. Rool decided to check his E-mail. ''MAN, the internet sucks out here,''
K. Rool said to himself. The page finally finished loading to reveal a sign of hope for K.
Rool's plea. ''An E-mail!'' K. Rool cried in glee. ''And it's from Nintendo!'' The rest of
K. Rool's crew came running (and in some cases flying) in excitedly.
''I hope it's a request for our services in a new game!'' a Kremling said happily.
''Don't jinx it!'' a Krusha snapped.
''Quiet you fools!'' K. Rool growled. ''Let me relish the silence as I open this E-mail!''
K. Rool moved the cursor over the E-mail and clicked on it. After a few seconds, it
opened. It read:
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze coming this November!
Play cooperatively as Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, and Dixie Kong in the new Wii U
platformer, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze! Venture through five islands worth

K. Rool's jaw hit the table with a THUNK. ''I'm not the villain in a video game
AGAIN?!'' K. Rool roared angrily. ''WHY NOOOOOOOT?!'' K. Rool's goons were
cowering in fear of their master's temper. ''You!'' K. Rool said pointing to the Kremling
who ''jinxed'' the E-mail. ''You jinxed the message! Throw him overboard!''
''Please sire!'' the Kremling begged as he was being dragged away by a Klump and a
Krusha. ''Have mercy! I didn't mean to!'' The two crocs threw the Kremling into the
ocean were the Kremling swam away from the sharks screaming.
''I'd BETTER get into the new Smash Bros. after this!'' K. Rool growled. ''Hmph!
We'll just have to find another job in the mean time.'' Suddenly, a motor boat pulled up.
''King 'Krusha' K. Rool!'' the man yelled over a megaphone.
''What do you want, Earnest?!'' K. Rool asked irritably.
''Your rent is six months due!'' Earnest replied.
''Just give me more time!'' K. Rool snapped.
''Sorry, K. Rool,'' Earnest said. ''Bur, my boss has had it with not being paid. Get off the
boat NOW!'' K. Rool and his cronies got off the boat and watched as the boat was towed
away.
''At least we'll be able to get some exercise as we swim back to shore,'' a Kremling said
trying to lighten the mood.
''SHUT UP!'' K. Rool screamed as he bopped the Kremling on the head.
