Alva was disappointed. After Pam had interrupted them, Eric had asked her to walk back home and leave the business to him. At first she refused to leave, but after Pam had told them that someone had almost entered Eric's house, she couldn't get home fast enough. She was scared, that something might have happened to Ivar. If something happened to Ivar… She would be back to suicidal little Alva from a millennia ago.
When she came home, everything was like she had left it. It was almost 4 in the morning. Ivar lay in his bed and was sleeping already. It was a hard time for him. Moving again and then being thrown in a new life… not to speak of coping with an only night active Mom.
The female was relieved when she heard him breath and sat down on the edge of his bed. Alva stroked over his hair cautiously. "My little Ivar…" A smile rushed over her face.
She left the room again and closed the door behind her. While she walked into the kitchen and got herself a bottle of TruBlood, she thought about what she should do next. It would sure be a good idea to scan the surroundings, before going to sleep as well.
After finishing her drink, she left the building. The next thing that happened was a sudden pain. It seemed like every inch of her dead body hurt, as silver chains burned their way into her naked flesh, while she slowly passed out. She really should wear clothes with more fabric sometimes…
There had been certain fore signs that the peace in his district would be soon over again. It was too silent to be true and then something like this happened. This recent incident came rather quickly. Eric thought there would be a few other things that would happen before such a thing happened…
"How many Vampires died?" Eric asked and looked at Pam. They were sitting in his office now and discussed the current problem.
"Six dead and seven injured. It was a rather big nest and they must have been very professional. Else they wouldn't have been able to kill that much." Pam was pretty good in her job as his second.
"Were there any deaths on the enemy's side?"
"According to the statement of one of the injured Vampires, one of the humans got killed. But his buddies took the body and fled from the building." Pam sighed.
Even though vampires had their own laws and were now part of the society… there were always humans that still hated them and tried to extinct them.
"To say it bluntly… There is a new group of Hunters out there in your Area, killing off all nests in this county. Maybe they have a vampire on their side, that helps them and gathers information that only a vampire can get. Also, I don't think that was their last attack. I suppose it was them that tried to get into your house."
"I agree." Eric said. "We will figure out how to react tomorrow. The sun will rise soon."
The old Viking vampire got up and walked to the door.
"We will close down the club tomorrow and have a meeting. Inform everyone, Pam." He said while walking out of his office.
Pam followed him out. The club was quite empty already, just a few vampires were still here and those Pam would kick out soon.
Without any further words, Eric left the club and reached his house a little later.
When he reached his porch he found Ivar standing in front of his house, who held a white high heel in his hands. That was Alvas. From a pair she had worn today.
"Didn't Alva tell you not to leave the house?" He asked him and had a certain feeling, that something was very wrong here.
"That's Mom's shoe." He simply said while staring at it, pointing out something Eric already knew. "She came to look after me a few minutes ago. Mom often does that, but then she suddenly left the house again. I wanted to follow her, to tell her it's too late to leave. The sun is about to rise. That's dangerous."
Ivar suddenly looked at him. Eric could see the fear in his eyes. At this moment he realized what he was trying to tell him. Damn boy could have told him that earlier…
"Did you see anyone around here?" He asked him calmly. The last he needed now was a hysteric teen crying for his mommy.
"A red pick-up drove off the yard when I got out of the house and before I could do anything he turned left and was gone."
Eric was sure that the Hunters must have taken her. They had been trying to break into his house for several days and surely observed him, as well as the people that were allowed to enter his manor. At least it looked like that, after the last attack. "Come on Ivar. We can't do anything now, but I promise to get her back."
"You know something, don't you? Tell me everything."
"You think she's dead?"
"Sure she is you idiot. Technically."
"Oh true. I forgot."
Alva could hear the blurry voices of strange people near her. She was still in pain, but now only her ankles, wrists and her neck hurt. When she opened her eyes, she could see why. She was chained onto a bed and couldn't move an inch without hurting herself. The chains were made of silver. It felt like all her energy left her body. Her vision was blurry and pink. There must be blood pouring out of her eyes. Probably out of her mouth, nose and ears as well…
"Look, the bitch woke up." She turned her head a little to look at the guy that had captured her. He was human, had a long beard and brown hair that hung into his face. His wrinkles were deep and he was wearing a dirty green jogging outfit. Alva was embarrassed. How was such a filthy human able to kidnap her? She should have learned a long time ago to pay more attention. Eric and Elene had always told her that. 'Pay more attention, child. One night this bad habit of yours will get you killed.' Alva smiled. She could almost hear Elene's angry and at the same time caring tone.
"What do you want from me?" Alva wanted to know. Her throat felt dry and she was so hungry…
The human just snorted. Then another voice started to explain. "They want to get a hold on Northman."
Again Alva turned her head and saw the person that spoke to her. It was a woman. She was a Vampire, which she had seen in the Fangtasia the last night, but Alva hadn't paid any attention to her. Again the thing with the attention…
"We are pretty sure that Northman will come and get you." The blonde vampire snorted. The human told her again. A second human just sat in an old armchair beside a closet. The room had no windows, as far as Alva could tell. It was dark inside. Better be darker, than bright sunlight that could kill her. She wasn't ready to vanish from this world.
"He won't. I am just a toy for him as any other woman he uses. I do not matter to him. No woman ever will." She tried to tell them. "You should have kidnapped Pam. I child is worth more than a mere woman." In the past it would have been true. Nowadays? Alva hoped that she was wrong and that he'd go search her. Ivar would make him go, or at least try it. If he failed, he'd probably be dead already as well. Eric wasn't the type of man that was patient with kids. At least not long.
"Well. Exactly this we do not believe. Shelly here…" The human gestured into the direction of the female vampire. What vampire was named Shelly? God. If that was her name, she'd have it changed immediately. "…overheard lots of things in the Fangtasia, while Northman and you were in that backroom. And the information she gave us gets us to the conviction that you are not one of the usual whores. You do matter. And I am sure he will try to get his little ho back."
Alva wondered why they hadn't taken Pam. The bond between Eric and Pam was stronger than the one she shared with Eric. She hated this, but she felt the same way with Ivar. There was no room for speculations in Eric and Pam's relationship. Maybe, one day, Alva would be the most important person in Eric's life. She just had to survive this farce. "Once my Viking gets his hands on you, you will regret even laying one finger on my perfect white skin. If he finds you, he will skin you. And be sure. I will watch and enjoy every second of it." Alva spat out full of hate and disgust.
Ivar stood in front of the house once again. A new night had just begun and he hoped that they would find his foster mother soon.
"This must be a trap that they set up for you, Eric." The teenager said and looked up to the blond vampire. Over the day they had somehow bonded a little, talked. Ivar actually came to like him, even though Eric had hurt his Mom so bad in the past. But if she could forgive him, Ivar should try to do the same. It was the least he could do at the moment.
"Probably, but they are acting so obvious… that they must be dumber than a piece of shit." Eric was pretty sure that there was a leek within his folks. Damn traitors. "They may have caught your Mom on surprise, but they won't know what came upon them when I found them. I'll make them pay for taking what's mine."
"I don't want to stay at the Fangtasia with Pam. She doesn't like me." The boy was pretty sure that this vampire bitch had no friends at all, well maybe Eric liked her. He had to like her, since he made her, but still. Pam was a pain in the ass.
"Pam doesn't like anyone. Alva is going to kill me if I take you with me. Better stay safe in the Fangtasia with Pam."
Ivar got his point. It always was the best to do what the vampires demanded.
"Hello. I came to pick up the brat." Someone suddenly said near beside him.
Pam was standing next to Eric and looked unimpressed at Ivar. "So you are this little… human of Alva."
"Yeah, that would be me." He said with certainty and pride.
After Pam had left with Ivar, Eric made his way to the Hunter hide-out. His sleep hadn't been very good this night. Even though he was used to a deep sleep, he woke up a few times. This wasn't something he was used to anymore.
Eric told himself, that he went to that house to kill this people off. Saving Alva would be a nice plus. He shook his head. Seriously, he had to stop lying to himself. Of course he only went there to save his woman and the killing would be the nice plus.
It felt as if a truck had hit her. These damn humans had started to drain her. Filthy bastard stuck a silver needle into her vain and took her blood. If she had the power, she'd have cried out in rage and if she'd be able to move, she'd killed them immediately.
Alva was close to the point of losing consciousness. She barely could keep her eyes open and couldn't move an inch anymore. A single moan left her mouth.
Out of the blue, the young female traitor cried out and pushed herself against the wall. Alva could only guess what had scared her, but she hoped that it was her beloved Viking that was killing everything that had a pulse. She smiled, but slowly everything went dark…
The Fangtasia wasn't opening its doors today. It was possible, that some more Vampires got hurt or even worse this night. And it would not be the first time that someone tried to break in to kidnap a vampire to drain them or worse. So Pam rather kept the club closed and kept the boy in Eric's office. He sat on the chair behind the desk and kept silent to Pam's pleasure. She didn't like this job here, but Eric had ordered her to keep the human baby save. She certainly didn't need two 1000 year old vampires as her enemies…
"You don't like my mother." The boy said suddenly. Pam didn't look up from the magazine she had been reading.
"If you mean Alva, no I do not like her. This whole thing is getting dangerous and it is her fault." She snorted.
"I don't think I can guess out what you try to imply with that." Ivar answered confused.
This conversation was so pointless, Pam thought. She sat up and put the magazine away.
"Look. Vampires are dangerous. But a vampire that fell in love is even more dangerous. They do not act reasonably. They are a danger to everyone around them and around their loved ones." Pam sighed. "You know what is even more dangerous? No? Well, what is more dangerous than a vampire that fell in love? Two of them."
"You're not serious, are you? So you think it is my mom's fault that your Eric acts irrational?" This time it was Ivar that snorted. "Sooner or later there would have been another woman."
Pam was sure, that there wasn't a single woman that Eric cared for anymore, except her. There had been one, but she refused to think about her at the moment. She had liked her and she almost had ruined Pam's and Eric's life. And now there was it again, a female that had always been there, but that she hadn't even known about.
"Maybe you are right. It is still a dangerous constellation."
"With that argument I can surely agree." Ivar nodded and sighed. "Do you think he found her already?"
It was a mystery for Pam how that human kid could have such a strong bond to a vampire. But to be truthful, this Alva Marker wasn't a normal vampire at all. At least she didn't act a lot like one. She could perfectly remember that certain incident from last night. The half club had been scared to death (the human half of course). But as soon as she had been with Eric she acted as if she couldn't harm anyone at all. Alva Marker wasn't like any other Vampire she'd met and that could make her dangerous and unpredictable. Nobody was save with Vampires that were that old.
Pam couldn't understand at all why Eric hadn't thrown her out immediately. To her surprise he even had kept her and intended to keep her a little longer.
"Eric is strong. I am sure he won't let her die."
That was all Pam could do for this little heap of human baby.
She woke up to a warm feeling. There was a hot body beside her, trapping her in a cozy hug. And as she opened her eyes she could see the bright sun. And all Alva could do was scream as if hell broke loose.
A/N: And another chapter! I hope you like this one as well.
