*Derrick's POV*

Derrick strutted into the classroom, as people started laughing and cheering at the fact that he was in their class now. He grinned at Kaitlyn, but she just looked down at her notebook. She didn't look like she wanted to talk to him.

'That's weird.' Derrick thought. He was almost positive that his little surprise would've pleased Kaitlyn, but she just seemed upset and pissed off. What did he do?

The seat next to Kaitlyn was taken by Cody. He looked up at Derrick and nodded his head before standing up and starting taking his things to a seat across the room. Kaitlyn looked like she was going to have a heart attack.

"Cody! Where are you going?" asked Kaitlyn.

"Across the room, to the other empty seat. Maybe Derrick can cheer you up about whatever it is you're upset about." Cody told her.

"Oh Cody, you don't really need to-"

"No, really Kait it's fine." And with that he took his things and sat next to Ted Dibiase.

Derrick slid into the seat that Cody got up from. He tried to make casual conversation. "Hey! So do you like my surprise?" Kaitlyn turned to him. She didn't laugh, she didn't grin, she didn't even smile. She just looked at him. Finally she spoke.

"Your surprise was the last thing I needed." Derrick had to admit, that stung. Why wasn't she happy? Why wasn't she the Kaitlyn he knew and loved?

"What do you mean? What did I do wrong?" He saw her gaze soften. Instead of looking angry she just looked…sad. She quietly turned away from him, ignoring the question. "Kaitlyn?"

"Derrick!" It was Mrs. Guerrero. Derrick sighed and looked at her.

"Uh, yeah?" She glowered at him. She wasn't exactly a pretty sight. He'd rather figure out why Kaitlyn was so upset with him rather than deal with the 'old hag.' As Kaitlyn so eloquently put it.

"You do not want to get on my bad side on your first day in the class by talking. Understand?" she asked with pure malice in her voice.

"Yeah, yeah whatever." He stated, rolling his eyes. She smirked.

"Maybe, if you stopped talking to your girlfriend so much, you'd be able to do better in your classes." The class started snickering. Derrick laughed. He was used to hearing it so many times, it was comical. He looked back over at Kaitlyn whose face was red. Whether that was from embarrassment or anger, Derrick wasn't sure.

Suddenly, Kaitlyn stood up and grabbed her things. She stuck up a very impolite finger at Mrs. Guerrero, at which the whole class gasped. It was common knowledge that Kaitlyn always said witty and smart-ass things to her, but she never resorted to something like this. She stormed out the room, with the teacher right on her trail. "You better get out! I will see to it that you're punished! The principal will hear about this!" The class covered their ears. Mrs. Guerrero's voice was cringe-worthy when she screamed.

Derrick thinks Kaitlyn said something back, but he wasn't entirely sure since his ears were covered. But whatever it was, by the look on the teacher's face was very angering. After another 3 minutes of her screaming, the class resumed. But it was no longer happy go-lucky, it was an awkward, stiff silence while Mrs. Guerrero spoke.

Derrick was lost in thought. How can he find out what he did to make Kaitlyn so upset? He thought about this for a while. Kaitlyn wasn't going to tell him, so who could? The lightbulb in his brain went off! AJ of course! Kaitlyn tells her everything, so maybe she'll know. He smiled contently. Kaitlyn will forgive him once he finds a way to apologize. It's just a matter of time.
