What's up my ever loyal readers? I've been meaning to do this for ages, but getting sidetracked with real life and my career later, this was put on the backburner. I finally got around to it and finished it up. So here I give you the ending epilogue to Resident Edville!
Chapter Summary: It's been four years since the Raccoon City incident and now the gang is continuing with their debt to the government by acting as agents for BSAA. A new threat has reared its ugly head and now the team gets together to see how to handle it.

Edd walked down the long hall towards the briefing room. He was late to the meeting and was silently cursing the DC traffic that had hampered his movement to the Pentagon. He rounded the corner and came to a set of double doors that was being guarded by a pair of MPs. His fingers pulled out his ID as he advanced to the door and he flashed it, all the while giving the password.
"Panther."
The MPs stood aside and Edd opened the doors to continue to his seat that was between Kevin's and Ed's. The pair of them gave him a nod in greeting as he sat down and then looked back at Briggs who was standing at the edge of the long table near a screen that had a projector shining a power point presentation about their next assignment.
"Nice of you to join us, Kennedy," Briggs said as he turned back to the screen.
"Sorry about that. Bad traffic," Edd replied.
"We can worry about that later. Right now we got a bit of an issue."
Edd pulled out his pen and opened up his file that had some paper in it to record notes. He glanced around and saw that Ed, Kevin, Nazz, Leon, Chris, Jill and Barry were doing the same. Each of them had a serious look on their face and he now knew the urgency of the text message that came to him an hour previously. Turning his attention back to Briggs, he waited for him to continue the brief.
"Now that Edd's here, we can get back to business," Briggs said. "Now, I called you all here because of some intelligence that we received almost two weeks ago, but now we have a confirmation on what some of our operatives have observed."
"What is this intelligence that we got?" Kevin asked as he raised his pen.
"It's like I just said. Two weeks ago we sent in some of our operatives and they were able to give us a confirmation on what we received on the intel. This gives us the green light to start our operation."
"But what is the intelligence?"
"As you all know, Umbrella was finished after the Raccoon City incident as well as with Wesker being killed. The intel that we gathered was hinting at another possible bioterrorist group using the pseudonym, Neo-Umbrella."
"Neo-Umbrella? Who are these guys?" Nazz asked.
"I'm not sure, but the reason why we're going in is because of what has been confirmed by our operatives. We are sending some of you to Lanshiang China to the cities that have been targeted for attacks," Briggs answered.
"Which cities will we be heading to?" Chris asked.
"The cities that we will be investigating are Waiyip and Tatchi. I will be sending about three or four of you there as a main team, but you will also have the help of other men that will be attached to BSAA from both the Marine Corps and the Army," said Briggs.
Briggs paused for a moment to allow himself a breath after answering the barrage of questions. He scanned the room and watched as the rest of his top agents scribbled the notes on their paper.
"How many of you watched the news today?" Briggs asked.
He saw the collection of hands and nodded. What he was about to tell them was going to throw them for a loop.
"Good. Now what if I was to tell you that major networks like CNN, MSNB, Fox News and all that were being silenced by us at this time about a crisis taking place in Lanshiang?" Briggs continued.
"Silenced how?" Ed asked.
Briggs pulled out a remote and pointed at the projector, cancelling the power point and switching it to the video mode. The screen was paused on a battle camera from one of their operatives that they received as the confirmation bit of intelligence that they needed in order to pursue the threat in Lanshiang. He pressed the play button and the speakers in the room burst to life. Gunshots and yelling met the ears of the BSAA agents and made them jump at the sudden surprise. The agents kept their eyes fixed to screen and watched as the camera continued to move throughout the combat zone. It landed on a group of men engaging the operatives with small arms fire as well as multiple buildings on fire and panicked citizens running around screaming.
"What the hell is going on?" Jill asked as she watched the footage.
"This is Waiyip as of thirty-six hours ago," Briggs replied. "Our operatives are currently aiding the Waiyip police in trying to fight back the threat here. The enemies you saw shooting at our operatives are Neo-Umbrella. We didn't figure that out until our guy with the camera here caught one live enemy after the firefight. To put it simply, bioterrorism is another top worry aside from a war torn area that is still under attack by these clowns."
"Jesus Christ," Barry muttered.
"So how does Tatchi play into this?" Leon asked. "If you ask me, I think we should be more concerned about Waiyip until we get it under control."
"I personally believe that Waiyip here is a distraction and that Tatchi will be the true target for the attack. From what we also received from the live enemy we caught and tortured, he said that the virus they had was a hell of a lot stronger than both the G and T viruses that you encountered a couple of years back," Briggs said crossing his arms.
"What's this new virus called?" Edd asked.
"The guy said it was called the C-virus and he said that the effects it had were incredible. This threat is of the utmost priority."
"Roger that. So what is our course of action?"
"Like I said, I'm sending four of you along with a crap ton of other soldiers we have attached to BSAA to get Waiyip under control and then try to get any further intelligence about the C-virus. The rest of you will stay here stateside and standby."
"Wouldn't it make sense to send all of us to Lanshiang? The U.S. isn't under an immediate threat, is it?" Ed asked.
Briggs glanced at Ed and frowned.
"Hartsock, you know the protocol. The guy we caught also said the U.S. would be next, so I wouldn't be surprised if they are getting ready to hit us with that somewhere soon. So the rest of you will stay here and be on standby to engage any suspicious threats," said Briggs as he set down the remote.
Ed nodded and ran a hand through his hair that was now considerably shorter as he preferred the hairstyle shortly after joining BSAA and being trained. Briggs looked at his watch and it was now time to make a decision on who would go where so they could begin to cordon the threat before it was made known any more than it was.
"Are there any further questions?" Briggs asked.
"Will the media know about this anytime soon?" Edd asked.
"Yes. Those bloodsuckers will find a way to make this public and create chaos as usual, but I intend to fix this as much as possible before that happens," Briggs replied with a firm tone.
Edd nodded at Briggs' plan and was ready to go where he was needed. Ever since he took the job after signing his name four years ago, he had been fighting bioterrorism. Granted he had been stateside for the most part, he had been sent to check out other possible problems that turned up to be empty threats. Now it looked as though bioterrorism was rearing its ugly head again, in two places this time.
"So this brings us to the current question. Who wants to head to Lanshiang and who wants to hold here?" Briggs said.
Seconds ticked by as the operatives exchanged looks to come to a decision. After a minute, the nonverbal communication was finished as the choice was made. Chris, Barry, Nazz and Ed raised their hands to volunteer for Lanshiang. Briggs nodded and scribbled their names down on his board as he looked at Edd, Kevin, Leon and Jill who decided to be the stateside team.
"Alright, so it's settled then. Redfield, Hartsock, McCreary, Burton, you all will be heading to Lanshiang in fifteen hours. Go home and get your stuff packed and ready. Say goodbye to your loved ones. Burton, you are in charge of the team once you get to Lanshiang," said Briggs as he set his clipboard down.
Without hesitation, Chris, Barry, Ed and Nazz stood up and left the room. Leon, Ed, Jill and Kevin stood up seconds later and prepared to leave. Briggs stopped them once again to give them one last bit of information.
"I want all of you to stay in DC until we get this sorted out. That way if shit should hit the fan, you're all nearby to be called," Briggs said.
"Understood," Leon replied with a nod.
With that Briggs dismissed them. The group left the conference room and walked down the hall to meet up with the other group as they waited for them. When they met up, they walked towards the exit to prepare for their individual tasks. All of them had grown very close together after the Raccoon City incident four years ago and considered each other as family. Edd, Ed, Kevin and Nazz had been inseparable ever since and were now in their early twenties. Edd and Nazz had been dating a year after Raccoon City and had been together since. Ed and Jill had been together for a similar length of time. Kevin had found a nice girl himself that happened to be a former Delta Force operator that was now on the President's Secret Service detail.
"You all know the drill. Get it done," Barry said as he looked at them.
"Roger that, boss," Nazz replied.
Barry nodded and left with Chris following close behind. Leon bid them farewell as he left to head back home to Claire. Ed and Jill looked at each other and smiled before leaving the building together, holding each other's hand.
"So what are you two up to now?" Kevin asked.
"I was going to go home and pack quick then spend the rest of the day with Double D," Nazz answered.
"Pretty much what she said," Edd said, jerking a thumb at Nazz.
"She's got your balls in a chokehold there, man," Kevin said with a laugh.
"I could say the same with you and Gretchen," Edd replied with a smirk.
Kevin stopped laughing and smirked in return.
"Why don't we meet up for lunch?" Nazz suggested. "I still have to catch up with Gretchen."
"Sounds good. Where do you want to meet up?" Kevin replied.
"Let's go to Steak 'n Shake. Cheap food and it tastes like heaven," Edd said.
Kevin's face lit up alongside Nazz's. They would be eating well for lunch and Kevin quickly said goodbye and hurried out of the Pentagon to head home and inform Gretchen of the plans. Nazz's hand snuck into Edd's and he looked down at her. He saw a little twinkle in her eye and immediately got the message. He smirked and leaned down and kissed her.
"Let's get lost," Edd whispered.
"You don't have to tell me twice," Nazz answered with a giggle.
Edd was lying on his bed and had some music playing the background as he waited for Nazz. His hands were resting on the back of his head as he looked at the ceiling. His mind drifted off to his friends that died back at Raccoon City and he felt a pang of sadness hit him. Even though he joined BSAA to seek retribution for them, he felt as though he had failed to fulfill his promise. He smiled to himself as he closed his eyes and could see the smiling faces of Eddy, Jimmy, Sarah, Rolf, Jonny, Parker, Garrett, Colin and Carly.
"Don't worry guys. We'll take these bastards down once and for all," Edd thought as he watched them vanish.
He heard the doorknob turn and saw Nazz enter the room. Edd sat up and got ready to walk over to her so they could meet up with Gretchen and Kevin. What Edd didn't notice was the little gleam in Nazz's eye.
"Hey, I was just about to check and see if you were ready to go," Edd said.
"I am, but I think we could both use something else first," Nazz replied.
Edd was about to ask her what she was getting at but shut up when she started unbuttoning her shirt. Getting the message, he smirked and leaned back on the bed and watched as Nazz dropped her shirt to the floor. Knowing Kevin, it was possible he and Gretchen were in a similar situation across the city and knew they would meet up with them for lunch eventually.
Alright, it is done. One of the first stories I started back in 2008 is now complete after five years. As you can see, I pretty much left the story open where it would leave off at the start of events for Resident Evil 6. I have yet to play the game, but it looks sweet. Now that this story is done, I am getting ready to devote my work to side projects that I have. I would like to take this time to thank you all for the awesome support and I hope you thoroughly enjoyed the story. I will eventually do another EEnE story, but I think I will let time see where it is down the road. Like I said it would probably be a crossover with one of my favorite shows Supernatural as I have the plotline figured out in my head, all that needs to happen is just be written. However, I said I would only do it if people would read it. Let me know what you think in a review and maybe I may get a start on it.
Once again, thanks so much to you all for being avid readers of this and I hope you really enjoyed the story here. Stay classy and make sure EEnE lives on in our memories. I hope this crossover tribute here was a great addition to your imaginations and I hope other authors are inspired in some way to ensure the continuation of awesome EEnE fics on this site. Till we meet again, EEnE fans. Later.-CaptainPrice
