Chapter 5: Unanswered Questions
Edward was walking at a human pace with Bella on his back. "Is this really the life you chose?" She asked.
"No one chooses the life of a vampire," he replied stepping over a log.
"I wasn't meaning the life of a vampire," she told him.
"Then what did you mean?" He asked.
"I meant the life of killing a humans," she replied.
Edward locked his jaw before he jumped and grabbed onto a tree, climbing up it. "Don't be foolish," he told her. She bit her lower lip as he started jumping from tree to tree.
"You constantly ask what I'm thinking," she commented.
"So?" He answered.
"I'm telling you what I'm thinking. I think you're not as evil as you try to make yourself out to be," she told him.
Edward was extremely quiet, she couldn't tell if he was thinking or if she was getting him angry. "You won't hurt me," she added.
"Don't trust me," he answered.
"I'm still here, besides that you'll catch me again I trust you," she told him.
Edward growled before he jumped down, landing in a creek, the water splashing up onto them. "Don't,' he hissed quietly. He started jogging up a hill before he stopped and had her sit down. "Don't trust me I'm a killer," he told her.
"A killer to other people, but I don't think you'll actually hurt me, threaten me and try to scare me, but hurting me I don't believe is something you'll do," she answered.
"Don't test me," he told her.
Bella stared at him for a second before she grabbed the sharpest thing she could find and held it up to her arm. "Really?" She asked, wincing as she cut her arm. Edward hissed when her blood filled his nose.
"Bella stop," he told her, swallowing hard against the venom.
Bella held her arm up, showing the blood. "I'm bleeding, I'm practically handing my blood to you on a silver platter," she answered. Edward hissed, gripping the ground.
"No…" he growled, not wanting to touch her.
Edward's eyes were starting to turn dark from the smell of her blood. "Bella stop," he told her.
"You told me not to trust you," she answered.
He got up and took off into the forest before the animal inside him got a hold of him. Bella started feeling woozy from the sight of her blood but she got the bleeding to stop and used the strips he had in his jacket that he had cut up for her knee. She wrapped her injured arm up and the dizziness started to go away. She pressed her hand against her forehead and sighed.
Edward walked through the forest, trying to shake off the smell of her blood. "She smelt so good, she was inviting you to drink it!" His mind shouted at him. He growled and started pacing, trying to calm himself. "You're losing your touch Edward, lost over two hundred years of great hunting over a human girl," his mind told him. He shook his head and kept walking until the animal inside calmed down. He pinched the bridge of his nose and went back to the camp.
He came back to find Bella sleeping against a rock. He took off his jacket and placed it over her, stroking her hair gently. She smelt delicious, but he kept himself from hurting her. He refused to hurt her, he didn't want to touch her. He let out a sigh as he continued stroking her hair before sitting down and watching her sleep. It was fascinating to him to watch her sleep. She shifted a little. "Edward…" she sighed in her sleep, surprising him. Edward cleared his throat and rubbed his forehead before he stared out into the distance.

Jacob was running at full speed, his heart was pounding so hard it could explode at any second, but he wasn't paying attention to it. "Jacob stop!" Embry called. Jacob stopped frustrated.
"What?" He asked irritated.
"Leah just collapsed," Seth replied, his wolf form whining as he stood by his older sister.
Seth nudged her but Leah just growled a little. "We're stopping," Jacob heard Carlisle call out.
"No we have to keep going!" Jacob insisted.
"Stop being ridiculous, Leah's not going anywhere," Paul answered.
Jacob disappeared behind the bushes and walked back out human, fixing his pants. "Something's long with Leah," he informed.
"Let me look," Carlisle answered.
Seth looked at him for a second before moving. Leah growled when Carlisle got close but Seth pawed her to get her to settle down. "We're making camp here," Carlisle informed.
"They're still light we have to keep going," Jacob insisted.
"Hey, we care about Bella just as much as you, but unless you want me to try to carry your friend, which I don't think she'll like, we're stopping," Emmett answered.
Jacob sat down with a sigh. "She's just exhausted, sleep will make her feel better," he informed. Jacob stared at Leah and closed his eyes. Leah was able to get up and disappeared behind the bushes, coming back out wearing jeans and a sports bra since that's all she could tie around her leg.
"I don't need your help," she told them as she lied down on the blankets Esme offered to her.
She let out a sigh and looked at Jacob. "What were you going to leave me behind if I couldn't get my ass off the ground?" She asked. The leader of the pack stayed silent looking out into the distance. Carlisle looked over at Jasper and Emmett.
"Scout ahead," he instructed.
"You got it," Emmett answered.
Jacob gestured for Paul and Embry to follow them while he sat back against a tree staring at the ground. Alice came back with a basket. "Here," she informed, putting it down.
"What is that?" He asked.
"Well since you don't live like our lifestyle, I was able to get to the nearest town and got you food," Alice replied sitting down.
Jacob reached into the basket grabbing a sandwich out of there. "Here," he told Leah tossing it to her. He looked over at Alice to see her standing up. "Where are you going?" he asked curiously.
"I can't envision anything here, I have to see if I can figure out where they went next," Alice replied.
"Let us know if you find anything out," Carlisle told her.
"Always," Alice answered smiling before disappearing into the trees.
Jacob moved his fingers through his hair and let out a sigh. He just wanted to find Bella and go home, he didn't want to keep trailing the coven. He was just as sick of the running as everyone else, but he knew he couldn't keep pushing them into exhaustion like this. If he kept this up, he wouldn't have much of a pack left. He tilted his head back and closed his eyes as he tried to get some kind of rest before they started their search once again.
When sleep finally claimed him, all he could dream about was finding Bella and killing the vampires that took her away from him.
