Chapter 7: Trouble
While the pack was resting, Esme looked around and noticed that her husband was missing. She pushed a strand of hair behind her ear and walked through the forest. "Carlisle?" She called quietly. She walked through the forest when she found her husband sitting on a log staring out at the view of the treetops. "Carlisle," Esme called quietly.
"Hmm…" he answered snapping out of his daydream.
She sat down next to him. "Everything alright?" She asked. Carlisle sighed, his hand resting on his wife's knee.
"Yeah, I'm just thinking," he replied.
He kissed the side of her head. "Care to share?" She asked. He looked back out at the treetops.
"I spoke to Charlie before we left," he replied.
Esme moved her finger's through his hair. They looked up when the sun started rising and Carlisle started getting up. "We should go, Jacob's probably pacing the camp already wanting to go," he told her. Esme nodded and they went back to the camp.
Jasper was putting the supplies into the pack they had brought with them. "Let's go," Jacob said impatiently.
"You go change wolf boy," Rosalie answered.
"Rose, come on," Emmett said quietly grabbing her hand.
"Go be the good little housewife and listen to your husband," Jacob told her.
"Watch it Jake you're already walking a thin line with me," Emmett answered.
Paul growled and glared at Emmett. "Alright, alright enough," Carlisle told them. Jasper tossed the pack to Emmett while Jacob turned into his wolf form and they continued on their search.

Bella woke up and it took her minute to realize that she was moving. She looked around and saw that Edward was carrying her. "Sleep well?" he asked with a small grin.
"Yeah, just surprised," she replied.
He chuckled as he walked down a hill. "I didn't want to wake you," he told her.
"How sweet," she answered.
She saw that the rest of the coven wasn't nearby. "Where is everyone?" She asked.
"They've been acting a little…too protective of you so I made it look like I was following them, but now I'm walking at your human pace," he replied setting her down on the ground.
"What do you mean?" she asked.
"They've been paying particularly close attention to you," he replied holding onto her arm.
Bella gave him a quizzical look. "Bella, they're hiding their thoughts from me, if they weren't hiding anything I could read their minds easily,' he told her. He pulled her onto his back and started a running a little. "And I refuse to let anything happen to you," he added. She smiled as she wrapped her arms around his torso.
Edward held onto Bella's hands as he took off running vampire speed. He held her hands not to make sure she wouldn't fall off his back, but to just feel her warm skin against his cool hands. He was surprised that she suddenly entwined her fingers with his.
They arrived at the new camp and Edward set Bella down. She smiled a little and sat down on the ground. "The town has some good blood," James commented.
"I don't need to feed again," Edward answered sitting down on the ground.
He could see James glaring at him out of the corner of his eye. Bella was eating the sandwich that was left there for her and sat back on his hands as he kept an eye on her.
That night while Bella slept, Edward was watching her, stroking her hair again. Feeling her silky soft brown tendrils fall between his fingers. He pushed her hair from her neck and moving his fingers over her skin. She felt so soft, so warm. He leaned forward and pressed his forehead against the side of her head, taking in her scent. He wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her a little closer. He suddenly pulled away, his jerking movements waking Bella. "Edward…" she said confused. She stopped when she heard what he had heard, growling. She looked over and saw a bunch of eyes staring. "Oh no," she whispered.
"Bella move," Edward told her.
Bella stood up just as the russet colored wolf came from the trees. The large pack of wolves slowly came out from the trees growling. "She has friends who are mutts!" Victoria exclaimed. Edward glared as the russet colored wolf glared right at him.
"Jake no!" Bella called out.
The wolf seemed to be ignoring her and suddenly leaped towards Edward. "NO!" She screamed.
Edward was waiting for the wolf's massive body to land right on top of him, but it never came. "NO!" He heard a voice shout.
Carlisle was standing in the trees when they finally found Bella. She was asleep in a vampire's arms, however, the vampire that was holding her surprised him. He heard Jacob growl and walk out of the trees with the rest of his pack. "Jake no!" He heard Bella exclaim. He saw Jacob's crouching position, he was going to pounce on the vampire in front of Bella.
"No, no!" Carlisle exclaimed.
Esme gasped when her husband was suddenly go. "NO!" Carlisle shouted shoving Edward out of the way and Jacob landed on him instead, crushing him to the ground.
"CARLISLE!" Alice shrieked in horror.
Edward sat on the ground as he shook out of his daze, immediately recognizing the vampire on the ground. He didn't recognize the larger, bear like vampire ran over and dragged the wolf off, but he just shoved the vampire away and growled at Edward.
Carlisle stood in front of Edward in the crouching position. "You will not touch this one," he snapped. He growled before disappearing into the forest after awhile, coming back out in his human form.
"What the hell Carlisle!?" He exclaimed.
"You will not touch this one," Carlisle repeated.
"He's the one kidnapped Bella! You should be tearing him apart!" Jacob snapped.
Bella ran over to Jacob, grabbing onto his arm. "Jake, Jake, listen to me," she said quietly. Jacob looked at Bella and hugged her tight. Bella hugged him back as he lifted her up off the ground. "He wasn't hurting me, he protected me," she told him quietly.
Edward lowered his head a little. "She's home, safely," he muttered. He looked at Carlisle. "Let's go," he called to his coven. Carlisle looked over as Edward moved to leave.
"Edward," he called.
He looked at the leader of the Cullen coven and reached into his pants pocket, dropping the wrist cuff on the ground. "I meant what I said two hundred years ago, father," he informed before disappearing into the trees. Carlisle bent down and picked the wrist cuff up from the ground when Esme walked over to him, her hands on his shoulders.
"Let's go, we need to get Bella home," he informed.
Jacob turned back into his wolf form. Bella held onto Jacob, looking over her shoulder to see Edward staring at her from one of the trees. She bit her lower lip and held onto her boyfriend as he took off running back towards Forks. Carlisle put the cuff into his jacket before he held onto Esme's hand and they took off running with the rest of their family.
