Chapter 18

Santana woke up to an empty bed and sounds of laughter downstairs from, what sounded like, her mom and Rachel. She pulled on her pajama pants that were on the floor and made her way downstairs.

"Morning familia." Santana smiled. In the kitchen was her mom and Rachel along with Mario.

"Hi Mija. You want some breakfast? I can make you something?" Maria asked.

"Yes, please." Santana said as she made her way to Rachel who was feeding Mario in his highchair. Maria kissed her daughter's forehead as she passed her before going to make Santana an omelet.

"Good morning Rach." Rachel smiled in response and received the kiss Santana gave her.

"Hi, how did you sleep?" Rachel asked turning her head back to their son.

"Pretty good actually, only I had this dream that Sue Sylvester walked in on me in the shower again. Kinda ruined my whole night."

"She walked in on you in the shower before?" Rachel laughed. Mario began to fuss, not wanting the mashed carrots his mom was feeding him anymore.

"Yeah, she was looking for Quinn, but she walked in on me. She didn't even apologize. She just called me worthless and left." Santana chuckled while getting up and taking the carrots from Rachel so she could feed Mario. When Mario stopped whining and let Santana feed him Rachel huffed.

"Mario! That's not fair! How can you just be mean to me like that?" Rachel pouted.

"He likes me more." Santana replied bluntly with a shrug as she continued to feed her son.

"Not more than he likes me though." Maria said while cracking eggs into a bowl.

"I'm his mommy! I gave birth to him, why does he fuss when I try to feed him?" Rachel whined.

"Because he isn't used to eating things like that when you're around. When he's hungry and he sees you, he is used to being fed milk. Preferably from your breast." Maria explained.

"That makes a lot of sense." Santana agreed.

"Are you sure? I don't want my son to not like me to feed him." Rachel pouted.

"Trust me." Maria smiled reassuringly at her.

"Okay." Rachel smiled softly and sat at the table and pulled out her phone to check her email.

Julia had just pulled up into the driveway and Santana was put immediately in a bad mood. She watched from her bedroom window as her brother and father helped her sister with her bags.

"San, cheer up. She's only here for two days before she's going back to college. Who knows, maybe you guys will become friends again." Rachel told her. Santana looked down at Mario and sighed.

"No, Rach. I don't like her. She's annoying and disrespectful. I mean I can't help that I have a penis or am a lesbian. I'm a person." Santana whined.

"You're right, but you know that there won't always be understanding people in the world. Some people aren't open minded, but that isn't going to change the fact that we have a son or that we are in love. I love YOU Santana, and some girl isn't going to change that. I don't care if she is your sister or Mario's only blood aunt. She doesn't matter." Rachel told her.

"I know. Thank you for being here. I know you could've easily went to your dads house and avoided all the drama that comes with being a Lopez."

"And leave my son here? Are you kidding?" Rachel joked.

Santana chuckled and pulled Rachel into a hug, careful not to squish Mario. "You're lucky I love you." Rachel giggled back.

"I know. But I don't think that makes me lucky, because I know that there is not other girl out there that you could ever love besides me." Rachel smirked.

"Smart girl." Santana laughed. "But seriously, don't bring him downstairs until I say so, okay?"

"Fine. That gives me some time to mentally prepare myself to meet yet another Lopez."

"Shut up." Santana laughed.

"Santana! Come say hi to your sister!"

"No quiero ir a verla! Dile que se vaya al infierno." Santana yelled back.

"¿Se te olvidó que yo puedo hablar español también?" A voice answered.

"No one was talking to you." Santana rolled her eyes and walked downstairs.

"Oh come on. Can I at least meet my nephew?" Julia flashed her a fake smile.

"Maybe I don't want you to meet him. He is, after all, my son."

"Santana, can you please be nice?" Maria asked.

"Mami! She's the bitch here!" Santana screeched.

"Santana, lower your voice and watch your mouth! I will not tolerate this." Maria scolded.

"Lo siento, Mami." Santana lowered her head in shame.

"Now, Julia, why don't you go put your things down in the guest bedroom in the basement."

"What's wrong with my old room?"

"It's Mario's nursery." Rickey answered.

"Why did my room get turned into a nursery? Why didn't we just put the rugrat in the basement?" Julia asked, bitchily.

"Don't call my son a rugrat." Santana warned, calmly.

"Julia. Go now." Maria told her again. Julia sighed and grabbed her suitcase to take it in the basement.

"Lunch in fifteen minutes."

Maria turned to Santana and gave her a stern look.

"Santana Maria Lopez, what is your problem? In the past year, I've seen you become this amazing person. You're a mother. You're supposed to be a good influence on Mario. Being rude to your sister isn't going to help. Just because she can be a bad person, doesn't mean that you have to be too. I expect you to be the better person."

"I'm sorry, mom." Santana felt ashamed of herself.

"Don't be sorry. Be better." Maria kissed Santana's forehead. "Now, go get ready for lunch."

Santana nodded and walked up the stairs. When she entered her bedroom, she saw Rachel giving her a pitying look.

"I'm sorry, honey." Rachel said sincerely.

"Me too." Santana sighed.

"We don't have to let her meet Mario if you don't want to. We can put him in his playpen and leave the baby monitor on. He'll be fine for half an hour." Rachel suggested.

"No. She's right. She deserves to meet her nephew at least once."

"Fine, but the second she gets crazy, we're bringing him back up here."

"Deal." Santana chuckled.
