Chapter 31: Hojo's Secret
As Kikyo, Hojo, and Naraku are thrown into the police van, and driven away. Kagome finds her ring that slipped out of her finger that disguised her as a human. She rubs the gem with her thumb. She sighs, "I knew I should've worn this." She said to herself. Her eyes show a sad expression. What choice did she have? She didn't want anyone to know about her transformation, mated to Inuyasha. After all, Inuyasha really did helped through the toughest times ever since she came her. She looks up to the crowd in front of her. She can see that the last police car leaves the scene. Her family is having conversations with Inuyasha's family. But one person is missing from it. "Looking for me?" A familiar voice asks her as it wraps his arm around her shoulder. "Yes I was, Inuyasha." She quickly as she still fiddles the ring. Inuyasha looks down to her ring as well. "It served its purpose Kagome." He tells her as he grasps the ring with his free hand. "What are you talking about?" She asks him. Inuyasha swiftly gets her onto his back and stealthily leave the scene. They head back to his car and drove somewhere far away.
Meanwhile back at the school, Sango and Miroku come out of the building and can't find Inuyasha or Kagome anywhere. All they see are their families. "Mrs. Higurashi, do you know where Kagome is?" Sango asks the mother. Ai shrugged her arms, "Sorry, Sango. I'm not sure. All I can think of is that she's in Inuyasha's protection. After all, they are mates." She honestly answers the question. Sango understands her immediately. Miroku said the same thing to Mr. Takahashi. He got the same results. "All we know is that Inuyasha's purpose to protect her at all costs." Miroku said to Sango as they head to their vehicles and drove home.
At Tokyo Police Station, Kikyo, Naraku, and Hojo are still in handcuffs and forced to walk forward into their assigned rooms for investigation. They were warned to not to speak, because they knew about the consequences of the law. The first room is Hojo. He looks around to see a machine with four pins on a graph of paper. He knew what it way. "Welcome to your polygraph exam." The office said behind him. Hojo doesn't have a choice but to sit in the chair where the wired are connected to his fingers while the officer sides on the other side. "Go so you know, I'm also an investigator, and I've been equipped with mind reading contact lens, so even if you try to hide you lies, I will find the real truth behind it." He warns the boy. Hojo nods quickly. As it begins the investigator starts with the simplest question, then got really intense. "Hojo Ritogu, (made up last name) did you have anything to do with the Higurashi fire?" The older man asked him calmly. Hojo sighs, "No." Even though the four pins didn't squiggles for any lie in the answer, the man blinks his eyes to activate the lens.
Hojo's Mind
Hojo lives on the same street as Kagome. He knows fully well that Kagome won't like him the way he does. When his heard a motorcycle passing through to the Higurashi residence, he sees that it was Inuyasha Takahashi when he took off his helmet. Feeling the rage and jealousy, he formulates a plan to get him.
The next day, Hojo knew the residence schedule, so he called his cousin, Naraku. After a few rings, "Hey there Hojo, do you need my help with something?" Naraku asks him. "Naraku do you still have those dynamite sticks that explode fire?" Hojo asks him on the other line. "Yes I do what seems to be the problem?" Naraku asks him more. "It turns out that Inuyasha guy is taking away my chances from getting Kagome. I want her to pay the price." Hojo answers his reason for the dynamite sticks. "Ah I see. I know that Kikyo by girlfriend has been trying to get a hold of him for sometime now. I'll bring a box. I know for sure that the Takahashi Mansion is protected with a power barrier that no destruction can get close to it. It'll be simple on Higurashi." Naraku explains the mansion's protection.
About an hour later, Naraku arrives at Hojo's place. Hojo shows a stupid grin on his face. But then a thought hit him, "By the time Inuyasha left, he put a barrier around the house, but I think it's to wore out demons but not humans." He explains to his cousin. Naraku nods, "I see. Well I guess that you'll have to do this on your own. When Kagome goes back to school, make sure you don't get caught and light this one to the back of the house. And make the wind will spread it like crazy." Naraku instructs him. Hojo nods. "Alright thanks." He shakes his hand for gratitude.
By the time Kagome went back to school, since her voice is recovered, Hojo made his move and walked casually not to get anyone suspicious on him. It's even better since no one is home. He goes to the Higurashi house, and passed the barrier. He walks around the back to feel a wind blowing behind. "Perfect." He said he lights a dynamite and runs away from it so he wouldn't get hurt in the explosion. The dynamite goes out and set the house a blaze. "That'll teach you Kagome." He said as he leaves the area.
END Of HOJO'S MIND
The investigator sighs with anger. "You may lie through your teeth but your mind is an open book. Now I know that Naraku is involved in this as well." He said to him. Hojo didn't even see that coming. The older man hits a button on the wall. "Ritogu is finished. Bring in Kikyo Miko." He said into the speaker by the button. The door open and takes away Hojo and put him in a prison cell.
