Chapter 33: Demons with the Night
By the time they broke their kiss a massive wave washed up to them, soaking them to their skins. As the tide gets back to the ocean, Kagome rings out the water out of her hair. "Looks like the ocean wanted to have some fun." Kagome comments the tide's approach. On the other hand, Inuyasha shakes himself like a dog whenever it gets out of the lake. "It's because the Full Moon is tonight." He explains as the tides are coming up. Kagome smiles at the horizon, and see the moon rising over the ocean. She didn't care if she's shivering from being soaked. Inuyasha on the other hand feels a pulsate within him. Kagome looks back to him with a concerned look. "Inuyasha?" She shakes him by the shoulder. Inuyasha didn't move and pulsates even more. Kagome's expression changes from concern to worry. She sees Inuyasha's bangs covering his eyes, soon ragged purple stripes appear on his cheeks. Even growls vibrate came from within him. Not only him, Kagome feels the same thing coming from within herself. Before Kagome said a word to her mate, she develops the same markings on her cheeks. Her bangs do the same thing, covering her eyes.
Inuyasha transformed into his full-demon form. He sniffs the air to detect a familiar scent that is mixed in with his own. He looks down to being on his left. Soon a flash of light passes him by. "Inuyasha!" Another male called out to him. Inuyasha keeps his snarls. In his red vision due to his red eyes, is a demon with similar markings on his own. "Son, calm down." He said in calm voice. "Inutaishou, what's going on?" Izayoi asks him as she gets to his side as she wants to help her son. Inutaishou grabs her arm. "It's the Full Moon. Little do you know that once mated, the Full Moon brings out their inner demon. Luckily they'll still have their sanity." Izayoi looks back to her son and his mate. "But what about Kagome, how will she handle this?" Ai asks them as she comes to them with caution. "I'm no expert, but all I can say for Kagome's sake, I just hope she'll handle this, with my son's support." Inutaishou replies as the three adults watch them from a safe distance.
A lighter growl gets his attention. He looks down to the female. He sniffs her and sees she has the same markings. But what really intrigued is the mated mark on the point where the neck and shoulder join. The mark pulsates wildly, calling out to the one who created it. "Inuyasha." She managed to speak, but in a raspy voice. As he leans down to her, Inuyasha feels the mark on his shoulder pulsating back to it. "Kagome." He hesitantly lifts her chin to see the changes on her face. So far he finds the markings, and large fangs overlapping the lower lip. But the only thing missing is rather or not her eyes will be brown or red. "Kagome, I'm right here." He sooths her as he caress her cheek with his thumb. Feeling the warmth of his touch, she opens her eyes. She sees him with red eyes but the something different about them. Instead of teal irises, there were chocolate brown. "Inuyasha, what happened to us?" She asks him as she holds his hand that touched her face. "It seems I must've left out something about newly mates." He answers as he pulls her onto his lap.
Not far behind them, Inutaishou, Izayoi and Ai kept their distance from the mated pair. "It seems Inuyasha's human side is calling out to his mate." Inutaishou explains the observation. Izayoi sighs in relief as well as Ai. "So what do we do?" Ai asks him. "All we can do is to see what they will accomplish." He answers the mother. Izayoi nods understanding the situation.
The full moon is glowing in such pale white that its light from the sun, make its easier for people who walk during the night hours. Inuyasha is with her as his eyes are still red eyes with golden irises looks down to his mate on his lap. She's asleep with steady breathing as proof. He smiles like he was in peace. Kagome looks like a child with her parent. But right now is her as a teenage, newly hanyou mated to Inuyasha. And on top of that it hasn't even been a year since then. Inuyasha combs her damped hair with his claws. Feeling the softness in each hair is like cotton. He senses his parents, and Kagome's mother close by, but not a danger area. He picks Kagome up bridal style, shocked that Kagome is sleeping like the dead, He then stands up and walks towards the parents.
Inutaishou, Izayoi and Ai see Inuyasha walking up to them. By the time Inuyasha came to a close range, Ai had to stay calm, for her daughter's sake. "Ai, it's okay, even though I look like a full youkai, I still have my sanity. So you have nothing to worry about." Inuyasha reassures her. Ai maybe that way, but worried about the similar markings on her daughter's face that he has. "It's the sign of her demon form." Inutaishou explains to her. Ai sighs, giving an uncomfortable moment. "The marking symbolizes their mating ritual is complete." He adds in the information. Izayoi shows a smile as her puts her hand on to Ai's shoulder.
A moan gets Inuyasha's attention to Kagome. He looks down but she doesn't open her eyes. "Inuyasha…" She murmurs in her sleep. He couldn't help but smile down to his mate. "Inutaishou, what did you mean that their mating ritual is complete?" Ai asks the father. "Inuyasha and Kagome are mates that we know it. But in order to make it's permanent and serious, they need the full moon to do it." He explains to her so far. Ai nods, showing that she understands. "Okay." She said back to them.
Feeling more uncomfortable with the parents near him. "Dad, mom, Mrs. Higurashi. If it's the same to you, may Kagome and I leave?" He asks them. Izayoi shows a smile. "Yes you may leave. We'll see you back home." She nicely answers her son's question. Inuyasha smiles and he leaves the scene, and head to his car.
By the time, Inuyasha made it to his car, Kagome wakes up from her nap. "Are we away from our annoying parents?" She shows her coy look to him. Inuyasha couldn't help but chuckle, "Yeah we're far away from them." He answers as he sets her back onto her feet. "Good I just want to get back home and see what's in store for tonight." She said as they get into the car. "And what better way to know to watch the news?" Inuyasha replies as he pulls out of the boardwalk parking lot and head the Takahashi Mansion.
