Chapter 34 Epilogue
A few months have passed for the mated pair. Through that time, Kagome and Inuyasha attended court to hear about Hojo, Kikyo, and Naraku's sentences. While sitting in the prosecutors' side, Inuyasha and Kagome have their formal clothing on, not covering Kagome's new form. As the door opens for the suspects to enter. It was Hojo, Kikyo, and Naraku are wearing in orange jumpsuit.
So far Hojo has been plead guilty for arson and sentenced for 5 years in prison.
Naraku has been pleaded guilty for arson for he was involved with Hojo the explosives to the Higurashi residence as he and Hojo also leave the scene of the. He's been put 15 years in prison.
Kikyo has been charged by first degree kidnapping, and assault. For her punishment is 10 years in prison.
Even though the three teenagers were in court, their lawyers didn't helped out at all since the Takahashis had Kagome covered with their own. (I'm not much of Law and Order, but I tried though.) With the clank of the little hammer by the judge, the cases are closed, and they were escorted out of the courtroom.
Soon the court room empties out the people of the three cases. It also made headlines on the media, TV news, Radio, even the internet nation wide. With enough paparazzi after them. Inuyasha and Kagome slip through everyone and drive back home.
By the time the mated pair made it home, Kagome head to the living room, to see her mother and little brother watching the News discussing the recent case. "I just want them to stop this gossip and focus something else." Kagome states with a groan. She cannot handle this at the time being. "Inuyasha, you know how to get those jerks in jail." Sota said to his hero. Inuyasha smiles for his fondness. "You know it, kid." He said back ruffing his head. "I can do anything to protect you and your family." Inuyasha states out to him as he sits by Kagome. Ai really wanted to say something, but it would be best to speak about it when the time is right.
8 months later
At Shikon Academy, the students are in cap and gown of the school's color. Each student is so excited. Things have gone well for each of them for their great grades and responsibilities, and voluntary events. "And by the power invested in me, I hereby wish the best of luck for all you students, find the desired goals you dream on achieving it." The speaker said to the class. All the students throw their caps in the air and meet their friends and families.
That night, the Takahashi Mansion hosted Inuyasha and Kagome's graduation. Having a great time. Sango and Miroku become engaged. By them time the kids had enough for tonight, they called it and slept in the guest rooms in the mansion.
Inuyasha is in the shower washing off the chlorine from swimming the pool. Kagome has already had hers. She gets into her green tie-dye t-shirt with pink pj pants. As she combs her hair, Kagome can smell her mother coming to her. "Hey mom. Is something wrong?" Kagome as she puts down the brush on the vanity. "Nothing sweetie. I just want to talk to you about something." Ai responds as she gestures herself and her daughter. Kagome nods. "Inuyasha I need to talk with my mom for awhile." Kagome calls to her mate. "Okay." He replies and resumes his shower.
Ai and Kagome sit at a bench in the mansion garden. The silence is killing them both. Kagome made sure that Inuyasha stayed away to get anything from the mother-daughter conversation by wearing a necklace Izayoi gave her before the girls went out. "So mom what is it that you want to talk about?" Kagome breaks the silent. Ai sighs, "Kagome I just want to say how I felt throughout your life so far." Ai responds calmly to her. "There were times I was sad about your grief of Hige's death. Happy that you manage to handle that faithful day. More happy that you made friends during your time Shikon Academy. And Proud that you found love." She adds more of her honest observations. Kagome nods to her, showing she paying attention. "But there was one time I was disappointed at one point." Ai ruefully said to her daughter. "What do you mean by that? Did I do something wrong?" Kagome asks her quietly. AI nods her head, "No is had to do with your father." Kagome looks at her with curiosity. "Kagome your father was a dog demon." Ai confesses to her daughter. To her surprise, Kagome didn't seemed to be that surprised to begin with. "But I thought that he was human. What happened?" She asks her. Ai sadly smiles, "You father was a magnificent man. But ever sense he met me, he sacrificed his demonic life just to be with me and have you and Sota." Taking that information seems to be very important to them. "Did you tell Sota about this?" Kagome wanted to know as well. "No, I don't think Sota could handle this information. He will when he graduates from High School. The point is Kagome, Hige told me this before you were born because he didn't want you to deal with what he had to in his life. But look at you. How ironic it came to be. You mated with the man of your dreams, a great half-demon of the Takahashi family, when you father didn't want to go through. But I just he was wrong." Ai explains the bitter-sweetness of her daughter. Ai pulls her daughter into a loving hug, "Kagome, just follow your heart, and hear out it guide through the bad times." Kagome nods as she returns her own. "Thanks mom. I'll remember that." They break apart and head back in.
Kagome head to her bedroom. As she closes the door behind her, a stealthy pair of arms carries her to the bed. "I see you stopped me from having a sneak peek between you and your mother." Inuyasha huskily whispers to his mate in his arms. "Ever heard of the phrase, curiosity kills the cat?" Kagome gives a look back to him. "Yeah and I can slip through that." Inuyasha smirks back to her. "Exactly. It's just between me and my mother, that you don't need to worry about it." Kagome positions herself comfortable in his hold. "It'd be as if I'd wanted to know your own private conversation between you and you family." She advised him. "Good point." Inuyasha agrees on her terms and then got her in bed and comes in afterwards. "All we can do is to live our lives to its fullest." Kagome said to him. Inuyasha smiles for her wisdom. "You know what, Kagome." He leans over to get a good look of her face. "What is it?" She asks to him. "I'm glad I choose you as my mate. I didn't want you to get into trouble, and that's why I'm there for you." He caresses her face. Kagome leans to his touch. "Who knew what I got myself into if it weren't for you." Kagome said to him. "What better way to get a hold of you?" He asks her. Kagome grins up to him. "All you have to do is to hear me out." She finishes her statement with her kiss. Inuyasha mentally shakes his head and kisses her back as well possessively embraces her.
